Urgent Help: Cluster.Framework - metaset No existing databases

Guys,
I made a mistake and reparation some disks after configuring them as part of a diskset. Now I am not able to do anything with this diskset!!!
Please help:
# metaset -s sogds
Set name = sogds, Set number = 3
Host Owner
ema03a
ema03b
Drive Dbase
d4 Yes
d5 Yes
When I try to do anything with the device group, it reports the following
error.
metaset -s sogds -a /dev/did/rdsk/d22
metaset: ema03a: common: must be owner of the set for this command
I have tried taking ownership using the command
metaset -s sogds -t -f
but I get the following error message:
May 22 09:13:54 ema03a Cluster.Framework: [ID 801593 daemon.error] stderr:
metaset: ema03a: sogds: there are no existing databases
May 22 09:13:55 ema03a Cluster.Framework: [ID 801593 daemon.error] stderr:
metaset: ema03a: sogds: must be owner of the set for this command
Could someone help me out in removing the diskset. I cannot do it using
metaset, as I am prevented from becomming the owner of the set etc.
Thanks for your help.

Can you not take the set on either node? If you can take it on the ema03b node, then you might be able to delete host ema03a and then re-add it. (At least that's what some of the bugs I've looked at suggest)
Otherwise, log a call with the Sun support team.

  • Need help Installing OID Repository on existing database server using RepCA

I have an oracle database server running 10g (10.2.0.4) and I want to install metadata repository on it. I downloaded the Application Server Metadata Repository Creation Assistant 10.1.2.0.1 (standard edition).
I find that there are no batch files in the download, just setup.exe. When I run that I am asked for an ORA_HOME - when I provide the home where the database is installed I get the message that the home already has the database and the software cannot be installed on it.
How do I add the repository to an existing instance of oracle database server? Also, is the version I downloaded the right version #
    Thanks

    Hi sameer khan,
first let me ask, are you talking about Netweaver04s (WAS 7.00), in this case my answer can give you some hints.
Note 883948 gives information of the installation of an additional usage tye (like BI JAVA)
You have more than one possibility to install the usage type BI JAVA. The most common installation types are:
    1. BI installation and a separate BI JAVA installation with 2 <SID>
    2. BI JAVA Addin Installation in an existing NW04s
I recommend to use option 1:
In case you install a separate BI-JAVA instance, you need a separate <SID> for your J2EE environment. In this case it is not possible to use the same <SID>. This installation can be done on the same or a separate server. Furthermore, you can use a separate database or install the J2EE instance in the same database (--> MCOD). I recommend to use a separate database. Note: In this installation option, Sapinst normally installs a separate user store. With the usage type BI JAVA it makes (in most cases) sense, to use the user store of the BI system, where it belongs to. If you want to do so, "Revise" the user store option before you start the installation and and choose the production client of the BI system.
If you like to use an Addin Installation, another <SID> is not possible. I would only recommend this kind of installation in test environments.
It doesn't matter, which kind you choose, after installation, you have to do the steps for "Setting up bex Web", see Note 917950. This is sometimes a little bit tricky, with Note 937697 there is a Support Tool, which can help.
    Good luck with your installation
    Kind Regards
    Marc

    Hello Tawfik,
You can use RMAN duplicate with the following link for 9i.

  • Urgent help database design

    Hi,
I need an urgent help with the design of the database, We have already a database in production but we are facing a problem with extensibility.
The client information is variant that is
    1) number of fields are different for each client
    2) client may ask anytime in future to add another field into the table
Please provide your views with practical implication (advantages and disadvantages) or any resource where I can find information.....
    Help appreciated.....

    Hi,
Database design is an art & science by itself - as far as I know, there aren't any rigid rules.
I would suggest that you have a look at the discussions in these two threads for a few general ideas :
    Database Design
    conversion from number to character
If your client requirements keep changing, I would suggest that you keep 8- 10 "spare" columns in your tables - just call them spare1, spare2, etc.. The only purpose of these tables is to allow flexibility in the design - i.e.., in future you can always extend the table to accommodate more fields.
I have used it a couple of times & found it to be useful - again, this is only a suggestion.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

I moved from an old macbook to a new one.  I have installed Office for Mac 2011. I copied all my files from my old notebook onto a hard drive.  On trying to setup my mail, i went into my hard drive and accessed microsoft user identities, office 2011 and it shows the database but wont let me select it.  Its almost as if the file is there but not accessable.  I desperately need to access my old mail.  How do I do this?  I am fairly confident that I copied all files off my old notebook.  Is there a way for me to search for the Database file?  Maybe I copied it to a different location?  Urgent help please.

Hello mafrerichs and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Simplest way is to use Target Disk mode:
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode - Apple Support
and hook to another Mac and use CCC or SuperDuper and clone your HD to another drive.
You could also pull the drive out of your MBP and use an external USB case or SATA - USB dongle to hook it to another Mac.

as there a way to drop and re-create a system tablespace? since the file 34 belong to system tablesapce.
    regardsNo.
So just create a new database. That will take all of ten minutes. And tell your students to create new tablespaces. That will take them two minutes.

    Thanks.

nope, its not the reason why you got that error.
You got the error in a particular SQL statement.
If something wrong with characters in the DBC file then your jdev would not have connected to the database in the first place.
If are not connected to the database, there is no way you can get any database errors.
You would have solved the problem either unknowingly or through different set of Data.
cos its really the problem with the data thats getting inserted.

  • Updating to MAXDB 7.5.00.29- user logon failed error! Urgent Help

    Hi
I am trying to update MaxDB 7.5.00 to MaxDB 7.5.00.29
on WAS 6.40. When I run the update via SDBUPD, I get the error "cannot establish database instance". i have looked in the log files(MaxDBUpdate_install-16.07.2005-16.13.log)
    and the error is
    <b>user_logon failed
    ERR
    -24950,ERR_USRFAIL: user authorization failed</b>
I am following "MaxDB update SAP note 735598" and under Windows section it states I should call the SDBUPD from the cmd prompt as follows:
    SDBUPD -d <database_name> -u <dbm_userid>,<password>
    so i run
    <b>SDBUPD -d J2E -u Administrator,portal</b>
I assume <dbm_userid> is the default userid which is Admisitrator when installing WAS and MAXDB. I ahve not changed the default during the installation.
I have tried <b>SAPJ2EDB</b> as dmb_userid as well as <b>J2EE_Admin</b>, they still give the same error.
    Any help on this?
    Need urgent help
    Much appreciated

    Hi
    Thank you for your reply!!
I used control, control as user, password. This worked 100%, but then it reached to a point where it gave this error, i get this from the log file:
<b>STDERR: test pgm/sqltcp.dll failed: cannot extract pgm/sqltcp.dll: sharing violation during open of existing file</b>
What causes this error, and how can i get pass this ?
I assume some instance is started, but before I ran the SDBUPD, I stopped the J2E under sap system in SAPMMC.
Below is the output it gave when i ran SDBUPD from cmd prompt, I have bolded where the error starts:

  • Urgent help needed... PL/SQL Insert statement

    Hi...
I need some urgent help on this project. I have a 2 column table with values that need to be inserted into another existing table which has a sequence.
This is the 2 column table:
    FUND YEAR
    29587 05
    29587 07
    Existing table:
    Name Null? Type
    LIST_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(6) -- This is a sequence
    WEB_USER_ID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(10)
    RESOURCE_TYPE NOT NULL VARCHAR2(8)
    LIST_TYPE NOT NULL VARCHAR2(10)
    LIST_NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(50)
LIST_CODE_1 NOT NULL VARCHAR2(6) -- FUND from table above
LIST_CODE_2 NOT NULL VARCHAR2(6) -- YEAR from table above
    LIST_CODE_3 NOT NULL VARCHAR2(6)
    LAST_UPDATED_DT NOT NULL DATE
    LAST_UPDATED_BY NOT NULL VARCHAR2(10)
    LIST_CODE_4 NOT NULL VARCHAR2(20)
The columns from table 1 (FUND, YEAR) correspond to columns (LIST_CODE_1, LIST_CODE_2) in table 2. The column LIST_ID is a sequence. I can put in sysdate for LAST_UPDATED_DT and my initials SN for LAST_UPDATED_BY. This is going to be for 2 unique WEB_USER_IDs which would be in the WHERE clause. I will be inserting 2200 rows for each id. A single insert statement would look like this -
    INSERT INTO EXISTING_TBL (list_id,web_user_id,resource_type,list_type,list_name,list_code_1,list_code_2,list_code_3,list_code_4,last_updated_dt,last_updated_by) VALUES ('470027','WEBUSER','GL','FUNDFYF',' FUND BALANCE SUM','12010','01',' ',' ',{ts '2010-5-19 10:16:9'},'SN')
How would I do this to insert the 2200 values from my 2 column table to the existing table?
    All help is greatly appreciated!!
