Urgent help, missing files

Good evening,
I have an HP ENVY 14 Notebook. Basically I had some files on my desktop which have disappeared, I don't understand what happened since all I did was drag an avi file to play on VLC media player and all of a sudden all the other files (pictures, series, presentations, etc) I had on my desktop disappeared. I did go into the recycling bin which had a couple of them there and I restored it, but the other files weren't there, I do not understand what the hell happened, since I didn't even delete them, but all I want is to restore the rest of them which I cannot find. Can someone help, I would really appreciate it, since I have lost all my faith in Microsoft (Windows 7), thanks.

Hi,
A possible option is to try the following.
Click the Start Menu and then click on your username at the top right.
Right click on the Desktop folder and select Properties. Click the 'Previous Versions' tab and give this time to load ( it can take a few minutes ).
If you get a list of previous versions, left click the first entry just to highlight it and then open - if you see your files listed, close the list and then click the 'Restore' option on the properties window. If no files are listed, try opening another entry.

Hi Guys,
I need urgent help regards to our school File server which is having "No more connection to this remote computer error"
on SMB Shares where I usually authenticate with a domain username it used to work fine since till 3 weeks ago.
Now I can browse the SMB shares with only IP... Netbios gets straight away this error message from non-domain joined pc's where the computer needs to connect to the SCCM distribution point on this file server.
Strangely, Domain joined pc's does not have this problem at all they can use Netbios or IP no problem at all. But someone from a standalone laptop or desktop who needs to access shares through netbios gets this message.
Can someone help me please?
I did check DNS yet there is no problem on DNS I checked PTR record for the server to make sure it is not turned in to multihome accidently but nothing at all.
I also did a NETMON where I captured the data from server and the client I get these errors:

Solution has been found,
After doing bit of a backtrack, site DC's were out of sync with PDC with time.
Also Time service was shutdown on PDC which has been enabled and pointed to the Australian pool ntp IP address.
Everything is back on track now.

Need urgent help on file download servlet problem in Internet Explore

I have trouble to make my download servlet work in Internet Explore. I have gone through all the previous postings and done some research on the internet, but still can't figure out the solution. 
I have a jsp page called "download.jsp" which contains a URL to download a file from the server, and I wrote a servlet (called DownloadServlet) to look up the corresponding file from the database based on the URL and write the file to the HTTP output to send it back to the browser. 
the URL in download.jsp is coded like <a href="/download/<%= currentDoc.doc_id %>/<%= currentDoc.name %>">on the browser, it will be sth like , the number 87 is my internal unique number for a file, and "myfile.doc" is the real document name. 
in my web.xml, "/download/" is mapped to DownloadServlet 
the downloadServlet.java looks like

Everything works fine in Netscape 7.0, when I click on the link, Netscape prompts me to choose "open using Word" or "save this file to disk". That's exactly the behavior I want. 
However in IE 5.50, the behavior is VERY STRANGE.
First, when I click on the URL, the popup window asks me to "open the file from its current location" or "save the file to disk". It also says "You have chosen to download a file from this location, ...(some url).. from localhost"
(1) If I choose "save the file to disk", it will save the rendered "download.jsp" (ie, the currect page with URL I just clicked, which isn't what I want).
(2)But if I choose "open the file from its current location", the 2nd popup window replaces the 1st, which also has the "Open ..." and "Save.." options, but it says "You have chosen to download a file from this location, MYFILE.doc from localhost". (notice it shows the correct file name now)
(3) If I choose "Save..." on the 2nd window, IE will save the correct file which is "myfile.doc"; if I choose "Open ...", a 3rd replaces the 2nd window, and they look the same, and when I choose "Open..." on the 3rd window, IE will use Word to open it.

Did you find a solution to this problem? I've been wrestling with the same issues for the past six months. Nothing I try seems to work. I've tried setting the contentLength(), inline vs. attachments, different write algorythms, etc. I don't get the suggestion to rename the servlet to a pdf file.

You should use<html:file> tag for uploading file through struts. And make sure that in form bean u need to manipulate this property with FormFile type. provide getter and setter in form bean for this one and manipulate it in your action class.

I'm expecting a slash (/) between forms60 and java. Have a look in the formsweb.cfg if any paths are misconfigured.
Also, try if the URL with the slash:
http://domain.com/form60/java/oracle/forms/registry/Registry.dat
does work when you just paste it in a browser. It should download the Registry.dat file

I understand where you are about being your own IT department, it can be overwhelming ...
What drives to buy depends an awful lot on how you will use them, what your budget is, and your preferences.
In the case of your DP Powermac, for online storage used primarily for editing, I would add one or more internal drives first. Look for drives that are at least 7200rpm and have at least an 8MB cache. 10,000rpm/16MB cache is even better, but more expensive. Seagate Barracudas have always been good choices.
For backup purposes, I'd pick some good external FireWire drives; you can also use these for online editing, lots of people do. Your Mac has both FW400 and FW800 ports - either kind is fine but if you get drives that support both, you would want to connect them to the FW800 port for the added performance.
In my experience, the Lacie d2 Extreme drives have been very very good. In fact I have 3 of them daisy-chained off my iMac G5 right now and they work flawlessly with FCE. Weibetech and Granite Digital drives are further upscale in performance and price. RAID configurations would be even further upscale. Do stay away from consumer level hard drives, however ... the Western Digital MyBook series & no-name drives come to mind ...
Don't use a FireWire hub for your external drives, it's just asking for trouble.

Urgent Help required! - Storing the XML as String instead as a file

Hi,
I need urgent help on this.
I have an XML file. I have used org.w3c.dom to build dom and manipulate the XML file.
I have updated the values for some of the nodes and I have deleted some of the unwanted nodes.
I am able to save the output of the DOM as another XML file using
either transform class or XMLSerializer with OutputFormatter class.
But my requirement is to save the output of the DOM into a String instead of a file.
When I save it in String, I need to have the following XML decalration and DOCTYPE declration also with it.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE Test SYSTEM "Test.dtd">
Can anyone pls help me in this??

On trying to setup my mail, i went into my hard drive and accessed microsoft user identities, office 2011 and it shows the database but wont let me select it. Its almost as if the file is there but not accessable. I desperately need to access my old mail. How do I do this? I am fairly confident that I copied all files off my old notebook. Is there a way for me to search for the Database file? Maybe I copied it to a different location? Urgent help please.

Simplest way is to use Target Disk mode:
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode - Apple Support
and hook to another Mac and use CCC or SuperDuper and clone your HD to another drive.
You could also pull the drive out of your MBP and use an external USB case or SATA - USB dongle to hook it to another Mac.

Hi, Hugo,
In similar cases it helped to remove the GarageBand "Preferences" file from the User Library.
Open the folder
your home folder > Library > Preferences
and move the file "com.apple.garageband.plist" to the Desktop.
Then try again to launch GarageBand.

Can anyone help me...Why Can't I open a compound clips containing missing files?

I Have been using FCPX for only a short time and I have a few unfinished projects on the go. But after tidying up an reorganising my hard drives putting FCPx Projects and Events on an external drive. I find some of my projects with compound clips show this horrid warning icon for "missing files". I am want to relink the missing clips but FCPX will not allow me to open the compound clips so I could see what are the missing ones... so, can anyone help find a way to re-link or recover those missing files.

File browser? You mean the compound clip is in the project but not in the event? What version of the software are you using?
Select the compound clip and use Clip>Reference New Parent Clip. Does that work? Try relinking the project files.

Help with "Missing Files" message

My blog has been giving me an error message when I open it: "The following errors occurred when trying to open this document", "Missing file 'Pinstripewelcometile-15.jpg". It's one of the background pinstripe graphics for the "formal" theme that has an "x" and a question mark - it's used on all the entry pages. (http://web.me.com/mikejdunlap/Site/BLOG/Entries/2010/4/27ChocablockCookies.html) I've added new pages and republished, but the "number" of the missing graphic keeps changing every time I open iWeb: "welcomepinstripe15.jpg" etc - I think it started at "_9.jpg". I can't "replace" the file or add them again to my page - since it's a template graphic, rather than my own that I can choose in the media browser. How do I get iWeb to put this background image back in the entry pages? Thanks in advance for any help!

UPDATE: I restarted my computer and went through the exact same process outlined above and now it looks like it resolved itself; the error message no longer appears after I turn sync back on. I believe everything is working correctly now. Basically, it looks like the solution is to completely reboot your computer.

Hi there Mylenium, is there any way you can help me? My cs6 is doing all kinds weird things lately. The liquifying too stopped working completely, when I try to work with the actions, it starts flickering and changing opacity in color by itself. It starts flickering and is completely out of whack! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck. I tried getting in touch with adobe and no luck with that neither! Is there anyway you might be able to help?
