Urgent help please - iDVD from iLife 09 - Won't start normal, can't quit ..

All,
I was in the middle of a job and things were going fine. Incorporating some changes to template supplied. I really don't know what I did, but now I cannot exit iDVD. Each attempt to quit ends with a "unexpected end", and any start of iDVD starts with the last one there. I can drag and drop existing projects but can't start a new one. I've tried deleting prefs file - didn't help. I did the "boot the OS X install and fix permissions" ... still nothing. It just seems stuck with this inability to exit cleanly. Do I need to reinstall, if so, what's the best way? Should I delete the one I have and install from iLife '09 disk?
I'm right in the middle of trying to finish up a job.. Thanks in advance!!

Location of the assets has never been a problem and isn't here (nor should it be, else Apple wouldn't give us the ability to put projects elsewhere) .
It can work with every bit of the asset if I drop the project file onto the dock icon. I also have and use Final Cut Studio Pro so I'm well aware of its capabilities. All drives, eSATA, FW800, and USB are formatted correctly for Intel based Mac.
I hooked up the backup system drive, copied the plist from there, and renames all the DVDPROJ files so iDVD could not find them. A bit Draconian, but so far it is letting me back in normally, and exit normally. I'll have to retrace the steps, but as long as it holds hopefully I won't hit it again.
Interestingly, after my first attempt at deleting the prefs file, iDVD did not generate a new one, which was odd. So hopefully I'm back to a solid starting point.
On a side note, is there ANYWAY at all to add additional font sizes to the drop down list for text? I know in earlier versions there were sliders that allowed for font sizes to be changed. There are a few places on this project (4:3) where I'd like to keep things in bounds for SD NTSC output, but have text a bit larger.

My computer won't start up, when I click the start up button the light comes only once, sounds click (once) and that's it, no power up.
Because of the age, I knew that the battery could be the reason, so I ordered the exact same battery and replaced it today (following the instructions very carefully). Nothing changed. Then I read about the button for resetting the power management (the one below the ram memory), did that too...and nothing.
I read the manual, it talks about recently installed components (which I have not) and explains the meaning of the numbers of blinks the power light makes with this type of failure, 2 blinks=ram memory, 3 blinks...4 blinks..more than 5 blinks= take it to service.
If somebody could please help me, I would really appreciate

I had similar problems with my G5 2ghz dual PPC. Mine would turn on, sometimes the startup chime would sound, sometimes not. The fans would run and continue to run faster and faster until I shut it off.
The red light comes on by the way, when the internal plastic shield is not installed or seated correctly.
Anyway, I determined after fooling with the machine for several hours that the symptoms pointed to the video card so, on a hunch, I grabbed a hair drier, pulled the video card and warmed up the video card with the drier. Then reinstalled the video card, hooked up the monitor and hit the power button. Bingo, the machine booted normally. BUT, it would intermittently hang or act odd while running so, I ordered a replacement video card. Installed it and the problem never returned. Sadly someone stole the machine last month but it was in perfect working order at the time:(

Urgent help please - only from and title showing in emails

I really hope someone can help me please!!!
My boss is out of the office but is having problems with his ipad 2 and is a complete plum when it comes to technology. However, even I can't work out what's wrong, especially without being able to look at it.
He said that his e-mails are only showing the From part and Title of the e-mail and the rest is blank. The titles list to the left is fine apparently and he doesn't have the download remaining ..... at the bottom of any of the emails. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Urgent help please (on holiday) Apple TV account sign-in problem - can't access ATV on holiday

Hi guys
I am on holiday in Thailand at a hotel with my wife and we both were looking forward to the streaming movies from the iPad to the ATV3.
However, very upsettingly, the ATV froze and required a restore. Luckily, after pulling a few strings, I managed to restore the ATV using the hotel's computer and a blackberry USB cable. The restore has worked, and I'm now on the computers / settings area.
I am now in my room and trying to set the ATV up. I have provided the hotel with the Wi-Fi address of the ATV (as I knew from day one that this would always be an issue which could be resolved with the ISP of the Hotel).
I am unable to test the Wi-Fi network or log into iTunes as the ATV "can't sign in to the iTunes Store until the network time has been set". Can anybody help?
Do I need to request the hotel's IT manager to tweak the Wi-Fi network settings?
Is it possible to side step this if I get a network cable and connect directly?

Yes, if it is possible to connect via ethernet I would try that. Otherwise, you will need to speak to IT

How do you uninstall iDVD from iLife '08?

I've tried numerous times to remove the iDVD components from *iLife '08* from my system so that I can reinstall iDVD from *iLife '06*. (Why Apple does not provide an Uninstall option is a mystery to me.) I've removed the application file and the Preferences file, but there must be other files that I'm overlooking (such as the Themes file). Can anyone provide me with a _list of all the components_ (by exact file name) I need to remove along with the _exact paths_ to their locations? iDVD/iLife '08 will not run correctly on my system, so I really need to try and reinstall *iDVD/iLife '06*. If anyone can provide such a list I'm sure it will help a great number of people who run into similar problems, and you will be a hero forever! Many Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can install iDVD 6 and run it but as Ian pointed out you'll probably have to manually import photos, iMovie files, etc. into an iDVD project. The media browser probably won't work. You can certainly try it though. To uninstall iDVD 7 delete the application, the preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, and all files with iDVD in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.

for the whole day my network has been 'Searching...'
i have tried airplane mode on and off, turning my phone on and off and network reset and taking sim in and out.
so i backed up my phone and restored to factory settings as i don't think i did the option of choosing manually select a carrier.
my network is still 'searching...' and it won't let my wifi to allow me to activate my iphone. i have tried to connect to itunes and it still won;t work.
i keep getting a message about no activation server.
this is a new iphone. i got it replaced on saturday.

If this is a new iPhone then you will have free access, as all iPhones come with it, to Apple support. I would have them take care of an issue like this.

Load XML in intranet ? urgent help please...

Dear friends, I need urgent help: I have a CAYIN screen (which lets me display evetns, etc) and gives me the option of loading/displaying a FLASH (SWF) file, well, I need this SWF to load some XML data ("texto.xml") but seems that when the CAYIN program which executes flash, does not allow the SWF to find the XML in the same folder...
Then I tried many ways to load the XML file with no success till now. Some tries are :

After last update, my os Tiger won't start normally

I tried to update my 1.25 ibook with the update that came out around the end of febuary and now my computer won't start normally.
I can safeboot this system but after about 10 minutes it freezes and must be restarted. a few time I have gotten it to start to safemode, and then restart right afterwards, and it will restart in normal mode, but then freeze after a few minutes. I've tried to reboot from my backup disks and I can get done with the upload, but then things all freeze up, then I'm forced to power down and start again. Its been a few weeks, and I miss my laptop, and need to get some work done so, getting this resolved would be great

try pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears.. this worked for me when my ipod touch didnt turn on or show the apple symbol.. hope this helps

Need Urgent help please? I need to restore from a previous iphone backup.

Oops, I admit it - I messed up but need help please?? I received a replacement iphone today. My broken iphone OS and my itunes had the latest software updates and I did a full backup before going to the store to get the rerplacement. However, when I got home with the replacement iphone and plugged it in, it asked if I wanted to update the OS on it. I made the mistake of saying yes. It then made a backup of the empty factory settings from the new replacement and restored from that rahter than the backup I made before going to the store. Yes I know I should have said no and just did the restore which would have resotred my previous backup that I made before going to the store. Then after everything would be allright I could have told it to update the OS.
You can slap my in the face or I will do it myslef for making such a stupid mistake. All ready did the "I should have had a V" thing to my forehead.
After seeing the restore was fromthe factory settings rather than my earlier good backup, I went into my documents and drilled down to the mobile sync backup and saw that one of the three folders (with giberish as a title) has a lot of information with the date and time I did the backup before going to the store.
Could I possibly delete the later (factory setting backup) folder and then do a restore to get my good backup onto the iphone? I didn't do that yet in fear that it might mess something else up on the iphone and I wanted to check with you experts here first for guidance and assistance, PLEASE?
I'll be anxiously awaiting any help you can give!

They take quite a while (about 50 minutes each actually). Your help got me half way there and is very apprecaited! I think I can move those back over by making sure they are selected in the seperate tabbed screens for the iphone. Can you help me to get it to the standard iphone screen and there I will make sure the selected items are checked and do a sync.

The "Backup" do not store your Applications, Music, Video's. It saves your settings, your application preferences, etc.

Urgent help, please? Migrating to 10g (10.1.2.1.0) from 9i (9.0.3.5)

just recently tried to migrate my projects over to JDeveloper 10g from 9i, and, while all the files seem to have come across ok, my projects have lost their structure, and in my most recent project, every single other existing bc4j component from other projects is sitting in there too - and I can't seem to be able to drop them from the project.
Most disturbingly, I can no longer run the PG or RN files from my project. The .xml files are there, but the structure of the pg/region doesn't show as normal in the structure panel - it just gives the xml structure.
The files are all mixed up now in the 9i version too. What's happened? Is this normal What do I do to get going again? Any help appreciated. Especially if it's quick!

Correct, nothing supports OA framework other than the version of JDev you get from Metalink that says "this is for OA framework"
You may still have the OA Framework version on your PC. The problem is that once you open your projects in a new version of JDev, it converts the files. That's why it's critical to have a backup.
I'd direct you at this point - it's probably best for you to take this to the [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=210]OA Framework Forum and follow up with them - you'll get much more directed help...
