Urgent : Home - Documents - Overiview - Public Documents

Hi,
I want to make some modifications in the Public Documents iview which could be found here in the Portal:
Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> End User Content -> Standard Portal USers -> iviews -> com.sap.km.iviews -> Public Documents.
Normally, when we click on Home -> Documents -> Overview -> Public Documents, i get the public documents iview in the content area. We can see Entry Points > Public Documents. Here if you right click on Public Documents, you get a context menu which has the following options:
1) New -> folder, upload, text file, HTML File, Link, External Link and Forms.
2) Add to portal favourites
3) Send To
4) Go to
5) Details for Link
6) Details
The modifications that i want to make:
1) Remove the options Link, External Links and Forms from Context Menu Item or Option "New"
2) Remove the options 'Send to', 'Go To' and 'Details for Link' from the context menu.
How can i achieve this ? Point would surely be awarded !!!
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
MA

You find more information on how to configure the Explorer interface here:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/87/41389793deac4f92696f38378e56fb/frameset.htm
Information on commands and command groups can be found here:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4c/9d953fc405330ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm
As far as I know you have to modify the "DetailsGroup" command group (or assigned command groups).
The Public Documents iView has "ConsumerExplorer" set as Layout Set which itself has the "DetailsGroup" configured as "Commands for the details menu".
These settings can be modified at
System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management
> User Interface > Settings > Layout Set
and
> User Interface > Commands
But be careful, a modification of the DetailsGroup could also affect other iViews using this group! Maybe you should use copies and modify them instead of the original settings.

  • Documents in public documents could not be downloaded

    Hi Guru:
    I can upload document to the public documents folder, and also could see the download menu item, but when I tried to download it, I will get a portal runtime error.

    Also all the icons in the public documents folder are display as 'X'.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • On 10.4.11 Mac Mail I get this: Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unnedded documents or move documents to another volume. I can't open mail.

    On 10.4.11 iMac Mac Mail I get this message: "Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." I can't open mail to do this. I have reinstalled software but no effect. How do I get into Mail to delete?

    Found this on the "more like this" Worked like a charm!
    With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
    Go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
    Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import mailboxes. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
    After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.

  • File Permission Issues from Public Document Library In Workspace

    Hello All,
    I've scanned through the posts and have not seen this issue.
    I've created a workspace for a customer. They are able to login to the workspace with no problem. They can browse the documents and folders under Public Documents no problem. The problem occurs when they try to open a document. They are prompted for windows login credentials. This occurs for anyone using IE, not for Firefox.
    We did find one work around for accessing WebDAV via IE, but I'd like them to use the console if possible.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Ray Parente

    Ray,
    The issue with IE is that when a document is opened it tries to create a back channel via webDAV to allow the document to be edited in place. This is where the login request comes from and if the customer marks the login to be remembered it will only happen each time they access the document for the first time in a session.
    IE uses webDAV but the others just download the doc and it must be resaved.

  • I am trg to open a PDF and I am getting a security warning that says allow cancel or block and then it says it needs a signature to open the document I have never had this problem before it is on a public document I am trying to view any help is apperciat

    I am trying to open a PDF in and I am getting a security warning that says block , close , or allow and then it still will not open then it says it needs a signature it is a public document any help is appreciated thank you in advance sorry this is my first time on here

    I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you sure it want a "signature" and not "password"? If it asks you for password then the document is encrypted and you need to know the password toopen it. The fact that it is a "public" PDF, whatever you mean by "public" does not mean anything. If it is not that then:
    Which product are you using, which version (including minor), which platform (Win/Mac), which OS/version? Please, include screenshots of the alerts, warnings that you get.

    Can someone please explain the usage of Documents vs. Public Documents folders in BOL?
    I understand that if someone is registered in a Group, but not added as a participant to a specific Workspace, he/she will be able to access Team Collaboration but will not have access to any Workspace. Will they, however, be able to access documents in the Public Documents folder, is provided with the corresponding access URL?

  • Using Sharepoint as a Public Document Upload Form

    Hello,
    We have ran into an issue where an external part of our company needs an upload solution. Members have Powerpoint documents which need to be uploaded to internal users in the company.
    We have been extensivly been researching the capabilities of Sharepoint Public Sites, but have not been able to find a straight answer. Does a Sharepoint public site have the capabilities to allow public users to upload Powerpoint documents into a document
    library?
    I know this is possible for internal Sharepoint sites but am wondering of the external. Also, we would prefer if users did not have to validate before logging in. If necessary would we be able to denote a simple username and password?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Based on your description, my understanding is that you want allow external users to upload PowerPoint documents into a document library of SharePoint public site.
    You can Share you site/library with external user and grant them with edit permission.
    We have two version of SharePoint, one the online version and the other on premise installation.
    In online version, we can invite external users(liveID and google users) to have access to site and documents. This feature is provided by ADFS server already configured OOB in online version.
    On premise version does not have by default the feature to share with external users or customers. we have to extend the site and provide different identity providers. The identity provider can be Active directory, SQL server, Claims, ADFS server which will
    support liveID.

  • Install few files in Public Documents Directory

    I am creating an installer in which I am installing the actual application in ProgramFiles folder. Few supporting files have to be added to the Public Documents directory. This directory would be in different locations based on the OS - Windows XP/Vista/7. But I don't find such a category in the Source Files page under "Destination View" list. There is a [PersonalFolder] but as per LV help, this directory pertains to the Windows user who is currently logged in. So, how do I install these supporting files directly into Public Documents folder?
    Thanks,
    Saranya

    I might be wrong.  The following link shows the mapping of the installer to OS folders

    I often write to a public docs folder from an application but have not had to install from the installer directly into this folder.

  • To set permisson for folders within a folder in KM Public documents

    I have lot of folders created in Public documents section and permission to add more folders are given only to few users.
    I want all the users to upload or download documents within these main folders.
    ISSUE:
    I do want want all the users to create sub folders within the main folders.I want them only to add/download documents so that there will not be any unstructured mess of folders.
    I'm unable to set permission as described above.When i give "Read/Write" permission for all users within the main folders then user will be allowed to create sub-folders which i want to avoid.
    Is there any method i can solve the above issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pradeep

    Hi Pradeep:
    There is also a work around solution for this problem (which is not a direct way).
    For this you need to create TWO iViews to the folder path:
    1. Navigation iView: you might've already create this iView. Now make Everyone or your UserGroup as 'Read' only in Details > Setting > Permissions. Remove Read/Write to them.
    2. Upload iView: Now create an 'Upload iView' to the same path (same as Navigation View). This way users can only upload content (files) in to the said folders and can't create the Folders.
    Hope this helps and solves your issue.

  • Recovery Manger backup not restoring user documents only public

    I had a problem after a Windows Update on 14/02/15 - my laptop refuse to reboot, instead it sat with "Restarting Windows" for about 8 hours before I resorted to power down and restart.
    It got worse from then on in...the laptop then refused to boot, kept going to to the Recovery Manager, but every option resultedin returning to the same page. Tried to use MS System Restore from within recovery manager bu it told me there were no system restore points.
    I tried everything, but always vame back to Recovery has encountered an error, or no changes can be made, and still couldn't boot. So I used the Reset my files option and created a backup data set to a USB drive.
    The reset option didn't work either - it only got me as far as the Windows logon screen and only listed administrator as a user, not my normal user accont.
    Clicking on the administrator account and entering a password or even no password resulted in the message your administrator account has been disabled contact system admin.
    I googled account recovery info, tried to enable the admin account using cmd but still no good - So I did I full recovery fresh install and proceeded to install all HP and Windows updates (except the 14/02/15 one)
    I created my user accont using my MS credentials as before, then once everything was setup proceeded to use the Restore file from the USB backup. I had expected the backup to restore the items to their original locations, however this wasn't the case they are restored to new folder, but still in a directory tree so not too bad.
    I was then horrified to find that whilst the backup file list showed all of the documents, images etc in my user account the files that are restored do not include the documents and images from my user account, only the public documents.
    In the found file list of the backup, it lists my user account folder as found.000\my documents etc. when you explore the individual swm backup files - within them are the original files, unnamed and no file extensions so restoring them and adding file extensions manually for over 10,000 documents would be a nightmare.
    Has anyone experienced the same issue - all I wanted was my document files to be restored and thought that using the Recovery Manager software to create what it told me was a successful backup would have achieved this. Especially as the found file list shows the docs I need.
    So in a nutshell I have an apparently successful backup archive, that doesn't want to restore named user account documents...any ideas would be appreciated.

    To my knowledge no.  It's an all or nothing thing with public folders.

    I have created new user basic role. I'm not using standard eu_role. Is it a problem.

  • Error while programmatically adding a document to SharePoint document library

    Hello everyone,
    I have created a custom content type and modified the document template to use the quick parts inside the template.
    I have a document library which uses the custom content type.
    I have a button inside a custom application page(created using visual studio). On click of this button I want to create a new document inside the document library using the custom content type and update other columns in the content type. I am able to create
    the document, but I get the below error when I open the document.
    public static void UpdateAndCreateFile(SPWeb web)
    try
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    string sList = "My Document Library";
    string sContentType = "My Custom Document";
    SPList list = web.Lists[sList];
    // this always uses root folder
    SPFolder folder = web.Folders[sList];
    SPFileCollection fcol = folder.Files;
    // find the template url and open
    string sTemplate =
    list.ContentTypes[sContentType].DocumentTemplateUrl;
    SPFile spf = web.GetFile(sTemplate);
    byte[] binFile = spf.OpenBinary();
    // Url for file to be created
    string destFile = fcol.Folder.Url + "/" + "test2.docx";
    // create the document and get SPFile/SPItem for
    // new document
    SPFile addedFile = fcol.Add(destFile, binFile, true);
    SPItem newItem = addedFile.Item;
    newItem["ContentType"] = sContentType;
    newItem.Update();
    addedFile.Update();
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    catch (Exception ex)
    // handle exception here
    The above code gives the same issue when I use the 'Document' content type instead of the "My Custom Document" content type.
    The document looks/opens fine when I create it from the browser.
    Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

    I could not figure out a proper solution, but here is what I did to get around the issue.
    I created a document using the document template and saved it to the library(same doc library) and named it as Sample.docx
    In my code, every time I had to create a document, I would just copy the Sample.docx file to the library, but make sure I rename the file when I copy it.
    Then I can use the url of the file I saved through my code and get the list item and update the other properties/columns of the content type
    Below is the code to use an existing file and create a new file
    public static void UpdateAndCreateFile(SPWeb web)
    try
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    string sList = "My Documents";
    SPList list = web.Lists[sList];
    // this always uses root folder
    SPFolder folder = web.Folders[sList];
    SPFileCollection fcol = folder.Files;
    SPFile file = fcol[sList + "/Sample.docx"] ;
    file.CopyTo(sList + "/" + "test1.docx", true);
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    catch (Exception ex)
    Thanks.

  • How to Restrict printing the document using IRM for a Single Document?Allow printing for some documents and restrict the printing for particular documents in same document library?

    Can we able to Configure the IRM in Document Level in SharePoint Document libraries?
    The document library contains multiple document sets , Can we restrict the printing according to document sets? Allow printing for some documents and restrict the printing for particular documents in same document library
     Is this possible?Please suggest.

    Yes, that can be done. But note that all administrators will have the same right to print, so you need to make sure the users are not administrators. You can include a macro to disable printing, but if the users disable macro, they can print the documents.
    Hence, there is no foolproof way to prevent printing documents. If you still need a foolproof security, PDF format provides password based security (viewing doesn't require a password) that can be implemented to prevent the document from printing,
    which doesn't require any special scripts and is tough.
