URGENT! I can't hear my mic in logic express, I am using line 6 KB37 as audio interface

I just bought logic express 9 and I am having trouble. I can't record my vocals, I have the mic set up with the line 6 KB37 audio interface and when open a new project and create a new track I can't hear anything. There is no signal at all, even on the KB37. Any help much appreciated.

Hi,
1) What kind of mic are you using?  If it's a condenser mic, make sure you have phantom power turned on.
2) I am not familiar with the KB37 audio interface.  What input is the mic on the device?  If it has a mic input, and a guitar input, then it's probably Input 1, but if it isn't you'll need to change the input on the track in Logic to whatever number it should be.

  • Can I link a chain of airport express devices to use as wifi extenders?

    Hi all,
    At work we have a large warehouse, office at one end, offices at the other end and warehousing in the middle (to keep things simple) .  I would like one single wifi network for the whole building so I can link up Filemaker to iPads, iPhones, Macbooks etc.  I have bought two Airport Express devices and put them at two ends of the building but they don't reach each other so I've temporarily set up two wifi networks.  I will need a 3rd, maybe even 4th Airport Express.
    My question is this:
    Can I form a chain of airport express devices to use as wifi repeaters from the first?  i.e. Can a repeated wifi signal be repeated again?
    Or in other words... say I have 4 airport express devices (A, B, C, D) and only A is linked to the network with a cable...B repeats the signal from A. (A is out of reach of C and D).  B repeats the wifi signal from A to C...C repeats the wifi signal to D...will this work/is it possible?
    Thanks!
    p.s. hopefully I haven't confused you too much

    Hi - Tesserax is right - you can't do this wirelessly but I notice that you say that you have temporarily set up two wi-fi networks - does this mean that you have access to ethernet connections - if you do and the distances aren't too long, then you can do it by placing wired base stations where their wi-fi would overlap - you would then set up each to create a wireless network with the same name, password and security type - and as long as they are on the same subnet, you would have a roaming network so that clients can move from one "zone" to the next without having to re-connect - I have 2 parallel networks using 8 Extremes and 2 Expresses connecting 3 hangars and 3 offices and it works great.

  • Help! Can't hear my mic!

    Sorry for this basic question, but I can't figure it out. I have upgraded to Logic Pro X (from the ast Logic Pro) and I've switched things over to my newer MacBook Pro at the same time. So I'm having to set everything up all over again. So far, everything seems to be working, except for recording audio. I have an Ultralite (the original one), a Roland A-88, and my 17" MacBook Pro (the last model made). I've been able to record some midi tracks and can hear it back fine on my monitor speakers and in my headphones. But I just added an audio track to mess with vocals and I can't hear what I am doing. The indicator within Logic Pro shows that sound is getting into the mic and into the track/laptop, but I can't hear it in my headphones. I've been trying to mess with the preferences, the Audio Midi Setup and stuff, but I can't figure it out. As far as I know, I have the switches set right on my Ultralite - it was working fine with my other laptop before I made the switch. I must be missing some internal setting somewhere. Any ideas?

    It's up to you, personally i only software monitor, never direct, so if i were using it yes i would turn the CueMix sliders down.
    If you're unsure then definetly do turn it down!
    EDIT: Just seen your other post.  Whatever works for you really mate.
    It will be louder with both as you're doubling the signal - But ultimately that won't be what you're actually recording - Does that makes sense?
    Create a new audio channel with no effects and make sure you are monitoring a dry signal.  Also, the latency comes from the buffer size, so you reduce that down until you get audio artifacts, pops etc.
    Oh, just checked your screenshot - it's only 7ms you shouldn't really notice that much latency, unless the plugin is quite processor heavy?
    EDIT: Sorry, just seen you're using the vocal transformer  - Any pitch change plugin will add noticeable latency.

  • I can't hear a patch in logic pro x

    i selected an amp patch for my direct guitar and can't hear it until after it's recorded.....help?

    To get the multichannel gain you have to be working in surround.  The input has to be surround.  So on an instrument you have to choose a surround version if available, or on an audio channel change the input to surround.  You could also do something like stick a 5.1 Space Designer on there and then after that the multichannel gain will be available.  Note that you can't stick a 5.1 SD on there unless you change the input or output to surround.
    The Down Mixer goes on the "master channel" as per the manual:
    You can use Down Mixer to adjust the input format of the surround master channel strip

  • How can I reset my defaults in Logic Express 9 on an iMac?

    How do you restore your default settings for Logic Express 9 on iMac?  I had my keyboard working fine through a Fast Track Pro until I tried setting up an aggregated device due to my mic not working. Now I can hear my keyboard again but can't control the volume and its Very low!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

  • Can i use Marshall amp as audio interface/preamp to connect to Garageband(to prevent the feedback when connected to macs audio port)

    I have been trying to connect my guitar to my macbook 1,1 for use with Garageband and Mainstage. As per the garageband manual i  was connecting my Fender Strat Squire straight into my mac audio port using the 1/4-1/8 adapter. When i do this the sound quality ***** especially when i try to use some of the virtual amp settings that create distortion and cool effects. Basically anytime im playing my guitar in GB or Mainstage and im connected straight into the audio port i get a MASSIVE amount of feedback noise and no matter what i do with the noise gate or settings i cant get it to go away unless i turn the settings down so low i can barely hear the guitar. I know that you can purchase an 'audio interface' or 'preamp' like Apogee or M-Audio Fastrack or some of the many others and this allows for clean sounding recording. My query is basically this: i have a Marshall MG100 DFX that does appear to have an emulated line out port that the manual says i can use to "connect your amp directly to your multi-track recording machine". Does this mean i can just use my amp as my audio interface between my guitar and my computer? I seem to remember hearing before that this was possible but i want to be sure. I really dont want to spend $ on an audio interface as they are very expensive and i figure if my Marshall amp can work  just the same ill stick with that for now. Any responses and advice will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for your time.

    yes, you can try it
    make sure you're using the line-IN, either way:

    also note that many of the amps just _are_ very noisy

  • Can't open any files in Logic Express 8

    Hi out there,
    I just installed Logic Exp. 8 out of the box. Runs nice as far as i can tell, but has a major bug with me: It won't open any projects or other files.
    If i click the Projects in the Finder, they will open just fine. But I can't open them in Logic.
    Import of Files into a project works fine.
    Ideas anyone? Update anyone (wink, wink to apple)?
    Cheers,
    Fox

    You may be having the same problem I observed, and I think it may be a bug.
    After upgrading to Logic Express 8, when I save projects they appear as a folder rather than a file in the finder, with the .logic suffix. Previous versions saved projects as a .iso file. On another machine I upgraded Logic Pro to Logic Studio 8, and here projects are saved as a .logic file. My guess is the .logic file created is supposed to be a file for both Logic Pro and Express, with package contents under OS X ... but for some reason this is appearing as a folder when created by Logic Express, with the package contents visible ... so you can't double click on anything to open them.
    Has anyone else seen this? is there a workaround or is this a bug?
    In the meantime, note that you can launch the Logic Express .logic 'folders' by dragging the and dropping the entire .logic folder onto the Logic Express icon in the dock.

  • Snowball USB Mic in Logic Express?

    Hi everyone.
    I just got a Snowball USB mic, as I thought it would be a cheap, simple way to just record my rehearsals with just a laptop and one device.
    However, Logic Express isn't recognizing it. And the nice folks at Blue Mic are telling me to speak to the fine folks at Mac about it.
    Apparently, the Snowball is supposed to work in Logic Pro, but not necessarily Logic Express. This makes no sense to me though, because if you're using Logic Pro, aren't you less likely to be using a cheap USB mic? I don't get it.
    Anyway, if anyone knows how to use this white, round wonder in Logic Express, you and I will be BFF for life...
    Many thanks,
    Mortimer Jones

    It should work fine in Express - it's set up in the Audio/MIDI Setup in your utilities folder.
    From the audio menu, open the Aggregate Device Editor.
    Add your options by pressing the '+' sign. For example, add your Snowball, then add built-in audio.
    Once you've completed this, close Audio/MIDI setup, and open Logic.
    In Logic preferences go to Audio -> Drivers. In the driver popup menu, select the new Aggregate Device you just created.
    I haven't used this mic, but I remember answering this before in this forum, and I believe this should work.

  • Using Midi Mic in logic express

    I recently bought a midi microphone and when I go to record, I cannot hear the instrumentals through the headphone. it is only letting me use one device at a time. When I choose to hear the music, I cannot record and the other way around. Someone please give me a solution. thankyou

    You have to create an aggregate device:
    1. launch Audio Midi Setup;
    2. select the Audio pane and under the menu Audio choose Create Aggregate Device;
    3. in the new window type a name for your device;
    4. add (with the + button) the USB mic and activate Input;
    5. add internal audio and activate Input and Output;
    6. open Logic and, in the Audio preferences, choose the new created device;
    7. choose the right inputs and outputs.
    cheers

  • Can I Get A Refund For Logic Express 7?

    I've had it since March but haven't been able to get it working, am I still entitled to a refund?
    Cheers,
    Jonathan

    Come on man, how can I not garner a smart *** rely? You've been trying to install a program since March? You could have resolved this issue by giving Apple a call the same day you took your new software home and tried it for the first time. 10 minutes on the phone with a tech and you'd be set.
    Yet here you are over half a year later griping about it? That's just ridiculous.
    What do you want us to tell you? If your number doesn't work or you don't have the skill to install an app then you've got problems beyond our ability to solve.
    In short. Call Apple. They can answer your questions.

  • Can I Duplicate a Bus In Logic Express 8?

    I have created a Multitrack project, with various instruments and 4 vocals parts.
    Each vocal part is being recorded with multiple takes.
    I create new audio tracks for each take.
    Once all the takes for a vocal part are completed, I assign all takes to a single bus.i.e.  All Channls / Takes for John, get assigned to Bus called John.
    I set up all the inserts / effects on the single Bus, assigning no inserts on the individual channels / takes..
    As I want the same inserts for each vocal bus, I would be extremely convenient to be able to Duplicate the John Bus.  Although it is possible to duplicate a channel strip with Cmd-D, it does not work with Busses.
    Is there a way to duplicate a bus with all the inserts?
    Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecaited.
    TIA

    OK, finally figured it out,  Basically:
    On the bus with the settings you want to duplicate, click the Settings button.
    Select "Copy Channel Strip Settings"
    Click on the bus you want to recreate the setting, click the Settings button.
    Seelct "Paste Channel Strip Settings"
    This works for all channel strips BTW.

  • Can't hear playback with USB audio interface plugged in

    I start Logic Pro 8 and then plug in Lexicon Lambda for a USB interface between guitar and macbook pro. With the Lambda plugged in I hear nothing from mac or headphone input on Lambda. If I unplug Lambda I can hear playback from mac just fine thru speakers or headphones.
    Very appreciative of any advice on how to solve this.
    Thanks.

    Unplug your audio interface, reboot the Mac, plug the USB interface in, let it be recognized. Open Audio/MIDI Setup (in utilities) see if the Lambda shows up as an input and output device.
    Yes/No?
    If yes, you don't have to select if for any of the Input/Outputs, Logic's audio interface selection operates independently from the system.
    Open Logic go to "Preferences/Audio) select the Lexicon or Lambda interface as the default unit, set audio buffers to 256.
    Anything yet.
    All audio I/O will be coming from the lexicon the Mac's audio system is now out of the equation.

  • Can't hear playback in GarageBand

    I'm a newbie. Trying to record spoken voice. Using Griffin Tech's iMic USB Audio Interface to input a Radio Shack dynamic mic with impedence of 5000. Signal is getting into computer, because meters jump and graphics show it. Also, I am having no problem recording and playing back using Audacity, and hearing it through the computer's internal speaker just fine. But when I then try the same thing in GarageBand (having changed nothing in the computer's settings), I don't hear anything when I play it back. Any suggestions?
