Urgent: i cant open my project!

i re-installed Leopard then installed FCP, and when i wanted to open my project which i have on an external drive, i get this message: "File's format is too new for this version of the application"
and i cant open the project...
i need help! a month of work is in the project!!

thanx man.. the problem is gone. i had some issues updating it though. the problem was that i like to put all the FCP studio apps in one folder inside the application folder, so it seems that the software update manager couldn't detect FCP. i had to get them out of the folder back into the application folder. it took my time to figure it out, but the problem is solved.

Cant open iMovie projects

Help!! everytime i try to open an iMovie project it doesn't work. After i try to create an DVD , exporting to iDVD the following message appears: "The project could not be opened, because the folder is locked, or the folder permissions are incorrect". I checked the folder's permission and they are not locked. I cant figure out , what´s the problem. Does anyone know the solution to this? Thank you and forgive my english.

It's not clear to me whether the iMovie project has trouble opening or the iDVD project.
If iMovie complains about a permissions problem when you try to open the iMovie project, the problem can be fixed by re-building the project folders.
This workaround is for this error message in iMovie 4: "The project could not be opened, because the folder is locked, or the folder permission are incorrect. If the project is on a CD-ROM, network server, or locked disk, then copy it to your hard drive before opening it. If the project is already on your hard disk, then you may not have permission to modify that folder. Correct the folder permissions and try again."
Here's how to replace the current project folder with a new one in iMovie 4:
1. In Finder, create a new folder anywhere OTHER THAN inside the old project folder. Name the new folder "Replacement" or something.
2. Create a new folder inside the Replacement folder. Name it "Media".
3. Open the Media folder of the iMovie project, then choose Edit>Select All.
4. Drag all the selected files to the new Media folder.
5. Drag the files inside the iMovie project folder to the Replacement folder.
6. Repeat #2 through #4 for any other folders in the project folder.
You now have a new project folder named Replacement that contains all the files from the original project. Double-click the project file inside Replacement. If the project opens successfully, quit iMovie, rename Replacement to give it the name of your project, and you're done.
If it doesn't open successfully, move the project.mov file that's inside Replacement to some other folder and try again.

Cant open iDVD project or even a new project! So mad about to go to Windows

Hello,
I can't open iDVD as a saved project and I can't even go to the window pane that allows me to start a new project because if I open it from the Apps folder, it just opens my last saved project - which doesn't open. Basically it gets stuck and doesn't load the content and beachballs forever.
I just got past an issue with a bad audio file and couldn't burn it to DVD - I deleted all the audio and reloaded the full songs, then burned a disc image to make sure it worked fine (needless to say, when I double-clicked the disc image, it didn't start up in DVD Player like the "great" instructions say). But now, I can't even open iDVD to do anything about it...this is extremely frustrating and Apple support on the phone does nothing, except ask for $199 for a tech to work with you (are you kidding me?!?!!? I paid $2000 for this freaking machine...I'm close to saying a Windows machine is more reliable...but I won't say that)
Anyway, any suggestions? thank you!

Hi, I got through most of the burning process - however, it "encountered errors" and didn't finish my burn!!! See below for what the info was:
"Errors were found during the burning process:
The recording device reported the illegal request: Buffer underrun. (0x21, 0x02.)
There was a problem during multiplexing/burning."
What does that mean and why can't I burn this project!?!!

Cant open project file

For some reason on mac I cant double click project file and make it open the program; let alone open the project. If i manually open prelude it shows a short cut to the project and i can open it from there. I tried right clicking on the project and doing a open with, but when i go to search for prelude its disabled and grayed out.
Is this a known issue? Sucks i cant do a file>save as.

Urgent help please: Error on opening MW project

I have a similar error message to the one in this thread
error loading project
One day I was using MW and all was fine, the next day it blows up when trying to open a project. We use CVS - is it possible that the NullPointerException would occur if a configuration file had been removed or altered outside of MW (although I have never done this)?
Where can I look to get more information on what MW is choking on?

I cant open existing DVD SP projects anymore.

I am running 10.6.6. with DVD SP 4.2.2. I cant open projects that were built maybe a year ago. I get the error message "Invalid project file format" The project was made March 2010. This is also true for other projects.

We've seen this often over the last few months so scroll down or search, you should come up with something helpful. IIRC, a recent ProApps update damaged some folks' DVDSP. But not everyone; my two installations were unaffected.

Cant open projects created in Beta1

hi, ive just installed the 2nd beta FC.
installation was completed successfully. however i cannot open any of my previous saved FC projects (.fxp)
it just comes up with an error message saying: 'Flash Catalyst cannot open this project because it was created by an incompatible version of Flash Catalyst'.
so does this mean that all projects created in the 1st beta are rendered useless?
what should i do

Sorry, but in order to support new features and functionality, we have had to make changes to the Flash Catalyst project files that are not backwards compatible. The new beta cannot open files created with earlier prerelease versions.
I don't know how much use this will be to you: You can use an unzip utility to uncompress your .fxp file and then use a text editor to inspect many of the files within the project. From there, you can try to copy and paste some of your code into (for example) a Flash Builder project and salvage some of the old project.

Cant open project says it was saved in older version

Tried to open my project that I had just worked on 30 minutes before and it says that it was saved in an older version of imovie hd. I only have one version so im unsure what happend. It will not open if I hit ok, it starts loading and then gets hung up. After a couple minutes, the imovie says it is not responding. Large project due tomorrow, very stressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RH 8 Crashing randomly and now project cant open

I was working on my RH8 HTML project, removing some broken links and editing folder names.
I changed the 'root' folder name, it was an empty folder but at the top level under the HTML Files, Images, Multimedia etc menus. That went fine, and I continued to remove some dead links and edit some topics.
Then I recieved the lovely MS error, 'RH is not responding and needs to close'. So I closed RH, re-opened it and now when I try to open my project, it opens RH, the topics load on the bottom Topic List pod, and then it freezes. The egg timer stays on, the process uses no more memory and its stuck.
I tried to open other project and they did, is there anyway to recover the project? all the files etc and folder structure are still intact on my hard drive, just the project wont load.
Any tips?

Hi gang
When I first read this post I somehow inferred that the project may contain a Word document that was imported and linked. Thus changing the "root" (my understanding was this was just another folder that was visible in the project) may have caused RoboHelp to choke and puke.
If somehow I managed to correctly interpret that, whatever name the folder had was likely derived from the file name of the Word document.
Heck, the mere mention of Word documents is enough to make ME wanna gag!

Pressed Strg+W in open Project insted of Strg+S. Cant find the project now....

I saved after pressing Strg+W and the project closed. Now I can open the project file but the sequences and timeline dont appear. Can someone please tell me how to open it again? Pproject was continouisly saved. Thanks in advance!!

What application are you using? Sounds like you may be using Premiere? You've landed in the Acrobat.com forum, but it doesn't sound as though you're using an Acrobat.com online service.

Do it manually to see if Encore works... export MPEG2-DVD from PPro (if for a DVD, or appropriate assets for HiDef) and then import the 2 (audio and video) files into Encore for authoring

Cant open project using "Open Existing File"

Using GB 11, if I try to open an existing .band project with the Open Existing File button, or from the File/Open menu option from within GB, the "Open" button is grayed out, as are all of the other buttons on the screen. On the other hand, if I select the project from GBs recent projects section, or if from Finder, I select Open with GarageBand from the File menu, I can open the project. I've checked that I have permissions on the Garageband folder and the files within. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion, it was just the one file that wouldnt open. I was hoping there was a different solution to starting a new project but everything i tried didnt work.
In the end I started a new project and imported everything in and it was fixed within no time! I was concerned that this would be long winded but was very simple and everything just worked.
