Urgent !!! I must download SSPS for doctoral program, not compatible with Firefox.

I use Firefox for all my classwork for my doctoral program. However I have assignments in Statistics that require IBM SSPS, which I am told is incompatible with Firefox. I am trying to use Internet Explorer for that download, but Firefox will not let me do so. This is an urgent matter with doctoral papers due Monday, 1/13/14.

Hello,
Can you please be a bit more specific about the issue you are facing. As I understand you are trying to use [http://www-01.ibm.com/software/analytics/spss/ IBM SSPS] on Firefox and the application is not displaying properly. Is that the issue you are facing?
And from what you mentioned the application is showing up fine on Internet Explorer. Is that the case?
Thank you

  • It seems that roboform for u3 is not compatible with firefox 5 and higher. am i right?

According to the Roboform site, I can't upgrade to later versions of firefox and so can't use portable version. on the other hand, i have roboform everywhere, and perhaps that's good enough?

Check with Roboform support about that.
Firefox Portable and U3 Firefox are two completely separate applications, and neither is an official build from Mozilla - they are 3rd party apps.

  • When Firefox launches a window opens that says a plugin for Kaspersky is not compatible with firefox. I have to close that window fefore firefox will lsunch.

I have gone into options, General, Extensions. This Kaspersky add-on is not present. Kaspersky used to be my anti virus software. I called my self deleting that software. I don't know where firefox is getting it.
Firefox is my default browser. I cannot launch links without closing the error window that comes up.
I am considering deleting firefox and reinstalling. Just haven't done that yet.
    Any advice would be appreciated

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.

Seems like no answer after 2 weeks... Well i ask a question, i answer to a question.
    Found workaround for that problem.
    # Open up the about:config page (type it in the address bar and enter) and then right-click anywhere in the about:config page and choose New –> Boolean.
    # Write extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0 and make it false.
What it does, is disables automatic compatibility checking from firefox, so you could still use your older add-ons that are not compatible with firefox 4.
    Got that info from here:

Try downloading and installing 6.0.2 from here:

In Firefox preferences/advanced/update uncheck download and automatically install updates. Instead check ask me what to do.

There are parts of the CMS that don't work with Firefox 6. They do in IE and Chrome but I much prefer Firefox. Until they get their CMS updated to work with version 6, I need to go back to 5. • How do I resolve installation of programs not compatible with OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)?

Is there anyway to resolve this incompatibility without having to downgrade my OS to a 10.6 (or lower) or replacing my CD (containing the incompatible program)?

If your machine already had Snow Leopard before and you have space space available at the bottom of your boot hard drive (SSD if you have enough space) and you have the 10.6 installer disks, then you can create a Snow Leopard partition on the machine, provided BootCamp/Windows hasn't taken it yet.
If you don't have the 10.6 disks, then you can research this user tip about getting the correct 10.6 disks and if the 10.6 white ones will work for you or not.
How to reformat a used Mac
1: First backup your users file and make a bootable clone of your present OS X drive. This is bootable and you can use it to repair, erase and reverse clone if something messes up.
    Most commonly used backup methods
2: Open Disk Utility click on your boot drive and the partition tab. Attempt to create a second partition below your main OS X one and notice the size it will allow, if it's not good enough for your needs (like you need more of the available free space) then exit without applying the change.
    See this user tip:
BootCamp: "This disc can not be partitioned/impossible to move files."
How to safely defrag a Mac's hard drive
3: If you have a hard drive, use the Disk Utility > Erase Free Space > Zero on the boot drive and wait for it to complete, it will map off any bad sectors that will prevent formatting or installing of OS X Snow Leopard.
4: Once you have created a second partition below your first one (named:  Snow Kitty), you want to change it's format to OS X Extended Journaled and apply.
5: Next is the fun part, you follow these instructions below to install Snow Leopard (+ Rosetta for PPC apps), but you apply them to the Snow Kitty partition and you DON'T erase the entire drive or you will lose Mountain Lion partitions as well etc.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
6: Optionally you apply the software tweaks and such here to maximize Snow Leopard performance
    For Snow Leopard Speed Freaks
7: Oh, to boot into Snow Leopard or  Lion you hold the option/alt key down for Startup Manager and select which one you want.
If your always in Snow Leopard or the other Lion, you can set either as a Startup Disk in System Preferences and it will tell the firmware which one to boot from so no need to hold the option key down.
Now there is a hack over at MacRumors that will run a virtual machine of Snow Leopard in later OS X versions.
This sort of explains virtual machines and what they do.
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?
Hope that works for you here's a free Cs2 for Snow Leopard.

  • I have just downloaded Firefox 4.0 and it has deleted my Delicious bookmarks. When I try to reinstall Delicious it tells me it is not compatible with Firefox 4.0. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance. Michael

It also tells me that AVG is not compatible but this programme has not been deleted.

Yes, I have a second computer running Mac 10.4. The download does not warn that Firefox 4 will not run on older versions of OS X and I can find no access to older versions of Firefox via the Mozilla site. The link given by TonyE to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html states that 3.6 will be maintained "for a short time". I suppose it will make Apple happy that Mozilla are marketing 10.6 for them. The Firefox 4 download link needs to advise compatibility.

  • How can I remove a Disabled Extension not compatible with Firefox 4.0.1? I just want to remove it... I don't want to wait for a compatible update. Why can't I remove it?

When I upgraded from 3.XX to 4.0.1, it informed me that 2 extensions were not compatible and it never gave me the option to remove them. Firefox 4.0.1 disabled them and now I'm not able to remove them.
Also they were added by Acrobat Pro X (Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.0) and Nokia Ovi Suite (Firefox Synchronisation Extension 7.3.4.51).
These extensions won't probably be updated unless they update the software that installed them. With this said, How can I remove the disabled extensions? Why it doesn't give me a button to remove them to start with?

I think it's not the problem of compatibility. Extensions installed into Windows registry won't have a remove button ( or it's greyed out ). For these extensions, you can have a look into these keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
If you are under a 64bit OS as I am, you may also try this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
And you may find the registry entries corresponding to the extensions you want to remove. Just export them to a backup.reg, then delete these entries. Firefox will do the rest, but it seems that fx still leaves extensions.rdf untouched. You can also delete the RDF entries corresponding to those extensions inside extensions.rdf
    cf: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons#Windows_Registry_extension
BUT the Wow6432Node key wasn't mentioned in the above article
I had to search the registry to find out the entry corresponding to a Fiddler2 extension, then I found the Wow6432Node key. I also saw the Nokia Ovi Suite entry beside the Fiddler2 entry.
    Hope it helps.

  • Safari for Windows is NOT compatible with Unicode 3.1 CJK characters!

This is an "old" problem since Safari for Windows was initially released. In the meantime, the problem is still not fixed in the latest version 4.0.3 (531.9.1).
Not only Safari (for Windows) does not properly show homepages that contain Unicode 3.1 CJK characters, but it also fails to show Unicode 3.1 CJK characters (it shows "squares" instead) in the whole application, such as Search box and all dialog boxes. Will this be fixed in the next release?
By the way, it is strange that Safari 4 for Mac is Unicode 3.1 compatible.

To speak more precisely, the Safari for Windows doesn't support CJK characters of Unicode CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B.
The following test illustrates the incompatibility of Safari for Windows:
