URGENT: IMAP Portlet - customize link problem

Hi all,
I got the IMAP Portlet up and running. But, when I click on the customize link I get an empty page back. Any idea is very welcome.

All,
apologies if this has been asked already.
Need to hide the customize link in Portlet and edit folder link in folder/content area. Better yet, would like to give selective access to these, based on user group (or other acl). I am on 3.0.7. Currently, hiding the header (or banner) is the only way of not showing these links. Do later versions have the same problem ? or has this issue been resolved.

I had similar problem in 3.0.9
I agree with Karthic that looks like a caching problem.
In the folder portlet, I enabled the Edit option. If a user originally had the privileges to do edit folder, then the folder shows the Edit option.
If later I remove the privileges so that the user only have view content privileges,
then the Edit option still shows up in the folder portlet and if the user clicks on the "Edit"link, then a message like insufficient privileges error comes up.
FYI i don't use any caching for pages.

Portlet Customization Link/Oracle Logo

I have applied one of the standard templates to my forms,
reports, etc. but when I publish the report as a portlet and
allow users to access 'Customize' link they get the Oracle Logo
displayed on the banner instead of the graphic used elsewhere.
How can I change it?

Tom, I had the same problem as this, I don't think currently (up to Portal 3.0.9) you have any control over the
appearance of the customize form, but one thing you can do is replace the Oracle logo with one of your own.
The file is called logo.gif (245 X 70 pixels) and is stored in the images directory on your Portal server.

Portlet Db link problem ( Urgent )

Is there any way to connect directly external oracle database from inside of a portlet.
Portal use its own database for portlet
So when we neeed enformation from external database
we are using dblink in our portlet .
This is causing dblink problems.

3.09 customize link

In 3.09 the folder portlet customize link can be removed...Great.
My question is regarding the customize link on the html portlet. Is the same functionality available for removal of the link in an html portlet?

Hi,
I put the navbar as a portlet on a page. I didn't see how I
can edit the page region to unmark the "Show portlet Headers"
option. And even if I can, I only want the "Customize Link" not
show up, but I want the title of the navbar to show up.
Any idea?

Hi, I'm not sure if I understand your question...
Do you show your navbar as a portlet on a page? then If you
unmark the "Show Portlet Headers" option by editing the page
region, the customization link will not show up.

URGENT! Where is IMAP portlet "Edit Defaults" link????

I've deployed PDK(January). Registered the imap portlet to portal and add a portlet to a newly created page.
It iis written in documentation that there is a "Edit Defaults" page to enter server information (other than customization link to enter username/password info). But I could not find how to navigate to tha "Edit Default Page".

Hi.
To get to the Edit Defaults page, click on the "Edit" link on your page. This will open a new page. On this page, just above your portlet there will be a button called "Actions". This will show you a page with the heading "Select Action". On this page, select the "Edit Defaults" radio button and click on OK. The page which opens is the Edit Defaults page.
Please note, the method I have described above holds true for most portal 9.0.2 versions. It might vary for certain portal 9.0.2 versions.

Remove Customize Link from Portlet - URGENT

Hi,
I have created an URL Application to be published as Portlet in my portal page. I need to include the Header of Portlet but not the Customize Link that appears in it. I tried modifying the Portlet Defaults but the option of removing Customize Link is not there. It only appears some data related to URL application...Please could you help me with this? Is there any patch I need to apply?

I see two things that you could try :
first try to set the security level at the portlet level, then allow users to display your portlet, not to customize it. I know it's possible with tabs, maybe it can apply to you.
Else you also can modify the package of your portlet (or the provider.xml file if it's not the package). You should read the pl/sql code and find the variable concerning the customization link in the rendering part. It may be set to 'tru', just set it to 'false' and recompile.
I've done it when installing some portlets and it works : that way I could translate the portlet in franch, remove the help link, remove the detail link, and so on...

I have previously suggested a work around.
- create a new application
- Create/move your forms/reports in this application
- Grant View privledge to Authenticated_users group
You should be all set. Any forms/reports etc created in this application would not have customize on the Portlet title.

Imap portlet problem

Hi,
I have installed 9i AS 1.0.2.1 on NT and pdkmay.zip I am trying to use the imap portlet to check mail.I add the portlet I am able to see it. When I customize the portlet information and add information like server info, mailuser name etc. I am not able to see the portlet in the portal page. Has anyone else faced this problem. Any solutions? I have around 300 mails in my mailbox could this be a problem. Thanks in advance.

Removing customization link from portlet header.

Could u suggest me out of the 2 ways to remove customization link from portlet header.I am using the default stock prices portlet in my page.
Where and how should i change the provider.xml file.
If not this how can I setShowEdit(False) which is one of the methods in MutablePortlet interface.How can i find this code related to Stock portlet.I mean where can we have access this code where the provider API's are used for some of the readymade portlets that oracle provides.
I am using release 1 of oracle portal.

Getting the url for the customize link on a portlet

I am not displaying portlet headers, hence the customize link is not visible. Within my portlet body, I have an icon which should call the customize screen for the particular portlet - therefore I need to generate the url to access the customize screen. Any ideas on how to do this?

I tried to make use of the Entry/Query form separately in a 2nd Portlet. by doing this I wud love to have a QUERY in one Portlet and the REPORT/RESULT in the 2nd Protlet on the same page !!!

i try to make my page support sending and receiving mails for my company,i try to use IMAP portlet,And when i make an external application to connect to mail server the following message appear
Login Failed: Failed to authenticate the user with the credentials supplied.
and i am sure that i supply the server name and username and password correctly.

Fetching Values from Portlet Customization Form

I am using DB Provider Report components.
I have been trying to pass parameters between portlets and have decided retrieve cookies in the "before processing form" pl/sql section of each report.
HOWEVER, I would have to set them using the customization form and have not figured out how to retrieve the parameters from the customization form so I can set the cookies.
Can anyone help?

I thought you were using a form. But now that I know you are using a dynamic page I can help you out more. The customize link on a dynamic page and a report is very combersome. I found the best way to make a parameter form for a dynamic page or report is make a form based on a procedure. For example I have a dynamic page that has parameters for a start date and end date. I created a procedure in the DB back end:

enddate IN date DEFAULT NULL)

Then I granted this procedure to PUBLIC. Then went back into portal and created a form based on procedure using the above procedure. Then, you can use this form to run your dynamic page and fully customize it.

Multi Language Portlet Customization

Hello ..
Can any one tell me, if we can provide a multilanguage customization using the JPDK, meaning if user1 clicks the Customize link, change the portlet title from "Title" to "Title1" then press Ok, the Portlet title is changed to Title1.
Now If he switched his language to ar -By using Set Language Portlet, and changed the Title to Title2 in arabic language for example,the Portlet title is changed to Title2 -in arabic. But if he comes back to the english language, the Portlet Title return to be Title1. In My opinion for this to happen, we need to save the user customizations in two different files for example: username.dat, username_ar.dat under the same preference path. Every Time Portal renderes the Customize page, it is rendered according to the current user language, and the values of the customization parameters also appears either in eng or arabic according to the current language. Can we do that using JPDK? How can we make profit of the method PortletReference.translateDefaultCustomizations?

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.
