URGENT: IMPROPER CLIP  PLAYBACK

Recently, clips over 2 minutes in length have been inconsistent: audio, but the video freezes and the timecode does not advance, or, plays, pauses, picks up and stalls again.  I have been using CS3 Production Premium for over one year without incident.  I have tried deleting and re-capturing these clips with inconsistent results.  The clips behave similiarly in Windows Media Player as they do in Premiere.  Premeire is taking several minutes to generate peak files and these clips are difficult to copy to other machines.  Is this a potential PC virus, an Adobe issue or a Windows issue?

  • Why do my PNG QT clips playback choppy?

I am working on a 3D animation using Blender as the 3D tool, and FC Studio as my editing tool. I render frame stacks from Blender, and Open Sequence with QuickTime Pro, then save those as clips to be used in Final Cut.
I have Blender render each frame as PNG, and thought I'd do a PNG workflow, so I exported from Quicktime as PNG, millions, 24fps. but when I play them back, they are hesitant, and choppy.
Previously, my workflow was the same, only Lightwave3D was my 3D app, and I saved my frames as PSD, imported to QT Pro, then Saved out as Planar RGB. Everything was smooth as could be, even on much less powerful hardware than I have now.
Can anyone say why the PNG clips play so unsmoothly? Is a PNG workflow not a good idea? I selected it because it's lossless, and makes small clips (file size)
my size is 852px x 480 px...certainly WELL within the capabilities of this Mac Pro.
    Thanks for any clues!

852 (actually it should be 853 by Apple's calculations)x480 is square pixel 720x480. 720x480 is the same as 853x480 using the correct video pixel aspect ratio.
PNG is a stills codec, it's not a native codec used in video production. Check the FCP sequence presets and you'll a complete list of the native video formats FCP supports.
Alright..I think I'm getting close to epiphany here..thanks for hangin' in with me.
Just to be clear, my 3D out put is square pixels...this is a square pixel workflow from beginning to end. so if I keep everything 853 x 480, and use one of the FCP Presets, then I ought to get smooth playback, not only in FC Studio, but also in Quicktime Player?
    Thanks!

  • Older mov clips playback choppy in Premiere CC 2014

Revisiting an old project (two years or so) and much of my footage is playing back choppy in Premiere.
It is some clips but not all. I played with sequence frame rates to see if there was a mis-match but nothing helped.
I'm noticing it happen in quicktime itself, could it be that the older clips ar not good anymore? Do they have a shelf life?
    Any workarounds or solutions?
    Thanks
Running Premiere CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 64 bit NVIDIA Geforce graphics card

    system:
    i7-3930K 3.20
    32GB RAM
    GTX 660
    Windows 8.1Pro
As I stated before I have NO playback issues in Premiere CC. 2014 is where all my problems are.

  • Urgent friends ,, video playback problem in adobe premiere pro cs4

i have installed pro cs4 , i converted a mov video file as wmv file and imported in the procs4,,,, the problem is when i play the video in the time line (ie.in  the editing pane ) to edit the video,,,, its getting stuck.... the video is abt 40 sec, but after 2o sec its getting stucked and play..... what is the problem friends pls help me....

Smooth playback can depend on many factors.
First, converting to WMV is not the best choice, as WMV's are heavily compressed, and require more "horsepower" to decode and work with. If your material is SD, say 720 x 480 for NTSC, the DV-AVI would be a better choice there.
Rendering the Timeline, if one has red lines above the Clip(s) in the Timeline, will get playback, as smooth, as is possible.
One's computer can have a big, big impact on how well one can playback the Timeline. Can you list the complete computer's specs.?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Ipod classic and some distorted/clipped playback

After spending many years with my 3G ipod I got a new 80GB ipod classic (thanks to my wife) but am having a problem with playback on 1.1/1.1.1. It seems that some songs are playing back exceptionally loud causing the output to be clipped/distorted.
Playback is through the digital connector and not the headphone output. This is through a iTrip auto scan modulator.
On the 1.0 firmware I found a work around. By going into the Volume Level while not connected and then connect I could "trick" the output on the digital out to adjust. Now this work around seems to be disabled and I cannot figure out how to fix it.
I checked some of the individual sounds in iTunes to make sure they were not bumped up in volume level and they are not.
    Any thoughts?

I had the same problems, and I found that using the AACgain program with iGain at the front end solved the problem. However, this does not work on songs bought from iTunes as they are protected. Spoken to iTunes about it, but they were no help. Can't understand why they don't run a gain adjuster on songs before they offer them for download. Won't be buying from iTunes anymore.

  • Imported clips playback fine on camera, playback at 2x speed in iMovie 2009

anyone know what is going on ?
    1. shoot video on Sony camcorder
    2. import clips via iMovie 2009 (version 8.0.4)
    3. clips seem to playback at double speed

What is your system configuration: include your OS version & iMovie version.
What is your Camcorder's Make & Model?
Take a look at the iMovie Video Camera support list: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290
Make sure your device is supported.

  • Picture freeze on clip playback

I'm new with Mac OS and i have a brandnew iMac and a new Canon HF10 HD camera.
IMovie 08 Ver.7.1.4 was the only way i found to import the video clips.
When i try to play the imported video clips the picture i frozen after 2 seconds and the sound
stops after 3-4 seconds. The progress bar still continues working. I have the same bahavior when i stop the playback with the spacebar and than continue with the playback.
I use PAL 25fps with iMovie. I have the same problem when i try to play the clips using the Quicktime player as the clips are stored as .mov files. Has anyone encountered the same problems and nows a workaround?

Found the reason for the problem.
I moved the video files from the NAS-Server to the local harddisk and now it works.

  • Mobile mp4's video clip playback

does anyone know how to enable mp4 video from a mobile handset playback on the computer?
trying to get clips from sony erricson p910 to play leaves me with a black screen but with sound and some random blocks of colour.
I managed it before on a g4 system but cannot for the life of me remember.
vlc of course plays them and i have added all sorts of div x and other codecs, yet as mp4s it would be nice if they just palyed out of the box.
    thanks

I logged out and logged in as a different user. I fired up FCPX and imported the same event file from the book.
It did not freeze once during playback.
I then imported one of the clips (.mov) I had imported from tape. Again, no problem whatsoever.
I removed any applications launched during log-in and logged in as normal, launched FCPX and it still exhibited the same problem with freezing.
Since all of the media is on the same (RAID 10) disk and the only difference is the account I've logged in with, it appears that there is a process running under one account that is responsible for the momentary freezing. If I find what it is I'll report back.

  • No video on organizer clip playback

I am inporting video from a dvd of a home made movie to Adobe Premiere Elements. It shows up on the organizer and I can see the still frame on each clip but when I try to preview them I hear the audio but cannot see the video. Same thing after I drag it to the sceneline. Whenever I press pause I see the still frame but it goes blank when I press playback again. Also after I drag the clips to the sceneline it starts "background rendering" but it takes so long that the program goes into a "not responding" mode and I have to start over.

Actually, these sound like two very different issues with similar symptoms.
In answer to the first question, you should just wait it out until the background rendering and processing finishes. It may take a couple of minutes, but be patient. When it's all conformed and rendered, you should be fine.
You can turn off background rendering the preferences (under the Edit menu), but that won't help you right now. You really need to let the program assimilate the DVD files before it will be able to work with (and play) them.
BTW, if you decide to use this video in Premiere Elements, make sure your project uses the DVD/Hard Drive Camcorder project settings. Otherwise, you'll run into interlacing issues later.

  • Some 24 fps clips playback choppy in project

I have two Sony HDR FX1000 camcorders, which I set for 24 fps.  My first tape plays reasonably well.  The other three seem to have problems, both in the source window and timeline.  My drives are defragged.  I'm running CS5 on my Sager i7 core laptop with 8 gig of RAM.
I am unfamiliar with the 24 fps style.  I've taped a wedding and thought it might be nice to include the feature.  Any constructive advice will be greatly appreciated!

Here's the rub - some of my clips play flawlessly on the timeline and in the source window.  CS5 doesn't give you the option to choose between frame rates - at least not that I've found, until you export.
There are two significant variables, it was cold, windy with showers.  I also used to camcorders.  I may have to perform some sample shots with both of them, to determine whether one has a problem...

  • Event clips playback doesn't function anymore

    2 FCP X anomalies -
OK, here goes...this is a two-parter but the first is not such a big deal from a working pov -
    1. once I place a clip on the timeline, the graphic disappears. It's not an impediment to working on the video, because I'm not really using that to look at the clip, right? but it's not the way things are supposed to be.
    2. The next problem is bigger, I can't view clips in the event viewer anymore. The cursor doesn't move, hitting l or j or / or the > button, nothing happens. The only way to view the clip is to pull the cursor across it (not very good) or drop it on the timeline and crop it there (really not good). This is not how it's supposed to work!
I reinstalled FCP X, updated all my software and for about 1 minute, it worked correctly again, couldn't use the keyboard, but at least the > button worked. Then it just stopped working again.
Does this sound like anything anyone's come across before?
    Thanks.

  • Why do my imported clips playback really weird?

I imported all these clips from my camera and when I played them back they were all sped up but the audio was normal. I am new to final cut and I would really appreciate the help(:

This camera shoots 720p in two video formats, AVCHD Lite and MPEG, neither of which is supported by FCE. The MPEG material, if that's what you shot, can probably be converted using MPEG Streamclip. The AVCHD Lite format can be converted using Voltaic, but I understand it's pretty slow. You need to convert the media to QuickTime using the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1280x720 at 29.97fps with 48k uncompressed audio.

  • PS cs4 extended...audio during editing... No audio in rendered video clips playback??

Hi I am running Cs4 Extended using PS on a 64 Bit Win 7 computer.  I am able to import video and edit it and the audio is there while editing.  But no matter what I do when rendering the video clips I get no play back audio just the video.  I just loaded onto this new computer I know I did video on my old computer with no problems.  is there a default setting that is blocking the audio to be rendered with the video.  Thanks for any help.

OK so I took the edited PS video file from my new computer and saved it over to a Drive, then opened the same PS file onto my older 32 bit computer.
I made no changes to it at all and just did a RENDER VIDEO.
it has the sound from that computer.  This tells me it is a very simple problem somehow can any one tell me what to try.  Thanks for any help.

  • Multiple clips playback problem

    Hi Guys
I have four long clips, in my time line which has been stack together. Let call it Clip A , B C and D.
B is on my main timeline, A is above B.  C and D is under B.
    Something like ,
Usually, FCP will disply the top clip only. But recently for this project, i found even i disable clip A and B, FCPX will disply D (which is the clip at the bottom) instead of C. And some times, i have disable A ,C ,and D it won't show clip B.
Any suggestions?  I do not have any clue ,this problem comes and goes, very annoying.
    Your feedback is highly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Eric. H

Yes, i happens during play back. Like this picture, if i diable 2398 9863, and 4956, it won't show the last clip at bottom.I can hear the sound but no pictures at all.

  • Video Clip Playback Problem

when trying to run a video clip it starts over from the beginning after about 20 seconds. Any ideas?

I am still struggling with the project and hope that you can help me further. I first converted the jpegs to psd files as they always displayed in the project panel and scene/timelines. Previously large batches of the jpegs showed offline status, only cured by clicking on the green button at the left-hand corner of the icon. This was very time consuming and out of curiosity-despair I converted to psd files.
However when exporting to PC-Windows Media the process failed at the end (2hrs 40mins): Windows Media is out of memory. I have 4GB of RAM, the project is just over 3GB in the exporting dialogue box. I viewed the scratch disk dialogue box and approximately 240GB  (C: drive) is allotted to the various parts of the project.
I bought an extra 4GB of RAM but for some reason it won’t work in my processor; when I switch on there is a ‘no signal’ message on my screen. If I remove the native RAM and substitute the new RAM the result is the same. I will ask the store to run a check on the new RAM if that is possible.
I read your (Bill) article relating to downsizing jpegs to 1000 x 750 pixels. I batch processed them in Photoshop and gave them a try. I rendered the project before exporting. Why is it rendered a second time when exporting? The result was the same: windows media is out of memory. I deleted a batch of video clips but the result was the same. I exported to DVD and again it was the same.
The only transition that I use is the two second of cross fade. The project contains approximately 400 jpegs and 40 video clips (.mov format, 29fps 720). In most cases I have split the clips and applied the transition. In the majority of clips I adjusted brightness and saturation, and applied titles to some. I was intending to add audio, music tracks, to the project but it looks like I will need to dream on.
