URGENT iPhone 5 white black screen???

URGENT ANSWERS? iPhone 5was knocked out of my hand onto the floor, had a silicone casing however the screen flickers when I touch it and all that comes up is a black or white screen. Only got the phone in January tried rebooting it and it's fine for a few minutes then goes back to white screen, how do I fix this?

While the phone is on and in the "black screen", press and hold the home button and the power button at the same time until you see the Apple logo appear. Then release them. This resolved my issue I was having with this problem. Good luck.

  • Macbook Pro 13-inch (10.6.8) random white/black screens and becomes unresponsive...what is wrong/what to do to solve?

PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS I'M IN NEED OF URGENT HELP. || Heeey everyone! I'm new here. Please don't bite me. =))
Okay. So I have a Macbook Pro, 13 inch (bought Dec. 2010). It's currently running on Snow Leopard (10.6.8). It had a hard drive crash in Feb. 2012...I had it replaced and lost all my files . It had two major falls (January 2011 & November 2012). Oh, and it also makes this weird grinding noise when you listen closely.
Everything was going fine, until last week, I encountered a kernel panic. Restarted, but was faced with that awkward blank white screen thing at start up. I was told at the Apple Store back when my hard drive crashed in Feb. 2012 that repeated pressing down of the power button can be damaging, so I waited for it to run out of battery to restart. After that, it was normal again. I downloaded OnyX and verified/repaired permissions...nothing was out of the ordinary.
THEN. The next day, in the middle of use, my mac suddenly black-screened. Not a lot of windows were open, and I wasn't doing anything that...will put a strain on anything. It wasn't total pitch-black like the screen looks like when it's turned off. I could still hear the hard drive working and making that grinding sound. I pressed the caps-lock key, and it didn't light up. =))) What, is it off or something? But I can still hear the hard drive there. And it's totally unresponsive. So I decided to restart by pressing down the power button. It was normal again...until a few hours later when it suddenly white-screened. OKAY it's white now. I don't know what that's supposed to mean. But it had the same symptoms as the black-screen. Unresponsive, caps-lock didn't light up, normal grinding sound as if the computer was still on. So I let it run out of battery so I could restart. Upon restarting, I opened Disk Utility and verified disk permissions. There was no damage, nothing again.
I recently got uTorrent (around late December), and thought that it might have been that, so I deleted it and emptied trash. The next day, it did the black screen again. Same with the next day. There's at least one per day. It didn't seem to affect performance at all, everything still ran smoothly. I made sure to check disk permissions to see if everything was okay. And everything was.
Then, about three days passed without any black/white screen and I thought that nuisance was over. BUT NO. Two days ago, I got black-white-white screened and I was...shocked. I let it run out of battery again. =))) Checked Disk Utility, again, nothing. So I decided to get that Software Update thingo that always pops up. I upgraded to 10.6.8. A day passed without the dreaded black/white screens. But yesterday, it white screened once. And today, it white screened again.
I really can't figure out a concrete pattern. It seems random. But what I do know is that:
    1. It happens in the afternoon. All the time, consistently in the afternoon. LOOOL IDK what this is supposed to mean, but its one of the common factors. =))
    2. Most of the time, it happens when I leave the computer for about 30 seconds - 1 minute to get something. Or if I'm watching a long video (like a TV show episode), a period of time where I don't touch the mouse/press any keys. Is that related somehow?
    3. I can't do anything to get it out of the white/black screen except restart. Each time I restart, I check Disk Utility and nothing is wrong.
And yes, I've went to the Apple Store to get this checked. All they said is: "Upgrade to Lion, maybe the error will disappear. If it does, then it was just a software error. If it doesn't...then sorry." LOOOOOOL NOT FALLING FOR THAT, not spending money when I'm not sure it'll fix the error. I want concrete answers.
I'm a student, and my Christmas Break will be over in less than a week. SO I NEED ALL THE HELP IN THE WORLD PLEASE. What is wrong with my laptop? Can I fix this? Will opening it in safe mode help in any way? PLEASE I'M DESPERATE.

    Try these:
See what's loading in your login items. - delete the ones you don't need.
Open up Activity Monitor and under all processes, see what's using most of your cpu's resources.  Highlight the ones using the most % CPU and hit quit process.
Next, open up disk utility and verify your disk.  Once that's done, verify disk permissions - repair if needed.
Restart your Macbook and see if it speeds things up for you.
    good luck....

  • Iphone 4 black screen, tried dfu mode, itunes not picking up device. not able to bring up red phone off slide bar or apple logo if any combination of button holding. HELP

iphone 4 black screen, tried dfu mode itunes not picking up device. not able to bring up red phone off slide bar or apple logo if any combination of button holding.
Phone was given to me by apple 2 weeks ago. Last I saw of it working was phone was off so i did the quick reset. Apple logo came up, it started up and keypad for passcode came up. It said 2% battery then went up to 64% a second later. When I was playing wth it not 5mins before it was at 65% so would make sence that later indication was correct. Before I could type the 4 digit passcode in the phone turned off to black screen. Now I have tried all possible reset options incuding the 10 second hold down of both buttons for less than 10 seconds and longer than 10 seconds. Nothing is working. iTunes is not recognising the device at all. Ive had it plugged into a wall socket for three hours and the computer for 2 hours and no signal of life. Ive tried the forums on here and the youtube vidoes and seem to know what im doing with resets. Anyone able to shed some light?

Not being able to get DFU Mode indicates hardware failure. Since you recently received this iPhone from Apple it has at a minimum 90 day Warranty. Make Genius reservation or make service arrangements and take or send to Apple for resolution. Regarding what is actually wrong with the iPhone, it could be possibility of several things. But some of the features point directly to battery. First step in fixing this iPhone would be battery replacement. Then trouble-shooting from there if still problem. Take it to Apple.

  • My iphone is black screened and no powerbutton!

So i connected my iphone to the charger and as it started i saw a grey screen with smal vertical colored lines in diffrent places.
Then after a minute or 2 it turned black and i dont know what to do.
My power button dosent work and its all Black, I just restarded my computer so when connecting to itunes it says i need to accept connecting through phone and i cant because of the black screen! what should i try/ what can i do?

Well, you can see a lot on Youtube. However, the iPhone battery is not considered user servicable, and opening the device voids your warranty and any post-warranty service from Apple, and any support here on the forum. You to you what you do, but I would just make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the device checked and get a replacement device.

  • Iphone 5 black screen

iPhone 5 have a Black screen.
The battery was fully charged .The screen went black while the Phone was still connected to the wall charger .
Had to reset the device by pressing the Lock+Home button.
Is this a known issue with iPhone 5 .I have never seen this before.

Your phone is basically a small computer, and sometimes(rare), stuff like that happens. It may never happen again. If it happens frequently, yes, that indicates either a software/hardware problem. Just one time...I wouldn't worry about it, you did the right thing & fixed the issue.

  • IPhone 6 black screen but works

After getting to work, I come to find out that my iPhone 6 has a black screen. Before that time, it worked just fine until I took it out of my pocket later this morning. The phone shows a black screen, but the buttons still work (the mute switch works; every time I mute it the phone vibrates). I tried connecting it to iTunes and it shows the phone. I assume that the screen has been bricked. I previously had a time where my phone was covered in rain water. That also explain why I have been experiencing crashes on my phone which led me to doing a hard restart. I have the choice of taking it back to my carrier as I'm still under warranty or I can try find out and fix this bug myself.
    Any Suggestions?
    Many thanks
iPhone 6 running the latest iOS

IIf you did a reset and screen remained black then it's a hardware issue, not a bug. You should return it under warranty if you still can. Any other attemp to fix on your own is probably going to void your warranty.

Have you tried actually running it on an iPhone or iPod Touch yet? That might make a difference.

  • IPhone suddenly- black screen

Suddenly my phone turned off with 88% battery. It seemed to be operating fine a moment ago. I placed it on my table and I go to turn the screen on, and the thing just flat out turns off.
Any ideas what to do? I plugged it in and nothing so far.

the same thing happened to mine only being 4 days old with 43% battery. this happened after being in my pocket for a few mins and working fine. it was the black screen and unresponsive to both buttons no matter how long i held them down for, after about a minute being plugged in the apple icon came on and it booted up and still had 41% power.... any idea what is causing this?

  • Problem with iPhone 5 - Black screen white code.

What is wrong with my iPhone 5? After 10 minutes of use it restarts itself and after the apple logo goes grey, the screen goes black and I get this code...

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

It's likely either hacked/jailbroken, or has hardware damage.  You can try restoring to factory settings, but that might not work for either of these situations.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Dropped iPhone has black screen which iTunes says is in recovery mode

The screen looks okay apart from...next to the ear piece hole you can just see a small white chip beneath the screen (The screen itself is not chipped) The phone appears to be off and wont turn on, or maybe it's on but is not lit up so I cant see anything??? I've tried holding the home and power buttons together and several other tips on here with no luck. I have connected the white cable to the computer, held in the home button for at least 10 seconds, and then connected the cable to the phone. It opened iTunes and I restored the phone (I assume to factory settings) The screen is still black and now it's telling me "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes" I've tried restoring it a couple more times but it just comes back with the same message and the screen is still black. If anyone has got any ideas I would appreciate it before I go to Apple.

In what way is it "not letting you?"

  • Iphone 5s black screen with Voice Over On

I turned on Voice Over on my iphone 5s and it started to repeat everything, so I had to punch 2 or 3 times some commands in order to go back and suddenly my screen blacked out. I have tried to restart the iPhone and can see the silver apple, but again I can hear the commands (I can still hear all the commands (Voice Over On, Screen Curtain On, 8:45, Screen Locked) but can’t see anything on the screen. Please help!

    Hello promomap,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Voice Over.  Try turning off the Screen Curtain by triple tapping the screen with three fingers.
Additionally, you can turn Voice Over off completely using these steps:
Press the home button three times quickly. This is also called "Triple-click Home".
If the VoiceOver feature still is on, you can navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off here.
If it is too difficult to access those settings on your iPhone, you can turn VoiceOver off using iTunes:
    Managing accessibility features using iTunes
Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to any computer with iTunes installed.
    In iTunes, select your device.
From the Summary pane, click Configure Universal Access in the Options section at the bottom.
Select the feature you would like to use and click OK.

  • Iphone 4S black screen, and screenshots are 768x by 576y. New screen makes no difference. Can access filesystem via Linux so phone not truly dead. Help!

i have an iPhone 4S 64GB. The screen went blank. Screenshots done manually then accessed from the
filesystem are found to be 768x576. New screen - still blank. Can't unlock the phone - can only access
filesystem on computers that previously synced with it.
iOS has done quite a good job of adapting to the 'new' resolution, but my phone is now useless. I can't
unlock it because i guess iOS is strectching the screen beyond the touchscreen sensor.
Any ideas what might be wrong - I could get an iphone repair shop to put a new screen connector in if
    that could be the problem (the could reball the sound DSP chip at the same time as that has failed;
nothing some tape over the top mic can't fix but would rather not have to do that. I won't return to apple
as they would just replace the motherboard (more likely the whole phone) and I would lose all my text
messages, apps, and so on. Some apps are no longer on the app store either.
Thank you for any advice - particularly as to why iOS is detecting a screen size that doesn't exist on
any iOS device, and presumably this is at least one reason for the 'blank' screen (backlight works
but screen is black). All the usual tricks like hard reset make no difference.
    Thank you!

Thank you for your useful reply - it has solved the problem that my phone was running in
an unsupported display mode that no iOS device ever made has run in!
My laptop is also not user serviceable, but it seems to be running an nVidia card two
generations ahead of the one it was made for, due to a BIOS modification.
My MacBook Pro on the other hand definitely hasn't been taken apart, but at least it
is the non-Retina one (I had the choice of both), and has the latest specs, and yet in
the future will be user-servicable (e.g. replace battery on a Retina MacBook, or even
replace the touchpad - will be an (impossible) nightmare!

  • HT4623 iphone 4s black screen

I hear my phone working however the screen stays black.  hard reset isnt working

Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. If still problem after that, and if there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or Service arrangements and take or send to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, maybe the LCD connector came loose from the Logic Board and simply needs to be pressed back down into place. Or consider replacement of Front Screen Assembly. If you decide to let Apple handle this, out of warranty cost is $199 for iPhone 4S replacement.

  • IPhone 5 Black Screen (Problem different from all the others)

Okay so, i woke up this morning to check the time on my phone which i did, then i unlocked the scren again via my lock button and then my home screen froze. After my homescreen froze the top of part went black then the rest of the screen faded away into darkness. So.. i tried reseting it and nothing.I tried charging it but only the end of the charger that goes into the phone gets hot, not my phone. I tried resetting for 10 secs nothing, 20 nothing. iTunes hasn't recognized that there is an iPhone even in my macbook and i've tried DFU mode, recboot.. i've tried everything and i have no idea what i'm doing wrong. PLEASE HELP. I need my phone and i have no access right now to an Apple Store. Also my phone isn't on, i called it and it went straight to voicemail, the vibrating switch doesn't work either..
