Don't think there is anything by that name in abap namespace. Have heard of Interactive forms, smartforms, and abap quickviewer

The message Im getting when I check for errors in my MAIN view is

The procedure tells me the follow
a) Create a label and bind its 'Label for' property to the UI element.
b) Select the label's 'Text' property, bind it to an appropriate context attribute or, alternatively, set the quick info (or accessibility description - if one exists) for the UI element.
c) Either set the visibility of the label to "visible" or set the element that the label refers to as invisible.
Im just not sure where to correct this under my DISPLAY_NO element
Im not sure if thisis the reason why im getting the UNCAUGHT_ EXEPTION - CX_WD_GENERAL runtime error as well

Hi...
in your view for element DISPLAY_NO, There is no label. So create one label and
in corresponding label properties bind its 'Label for' property to the display_no ui element.
And did you activate your component ? if above is the error, you will not able to activate the component. So first check and activate component. if you get any error related to DISPLAY_No, then follow the above procedure.

Returning multiple values from a called tabular form(performance issue)

I hope someone can help with this.
I have a form that calls another form to display a multiple column tabular list of values(needs to allow for user sorting so could not use a LOV).
The user selects one or more records from the list by using check boxes. In order to detect the records selected I loop through the block looking for boxes checked off and return those records to the calling form via a PL/SQL table.
The form displaying the tabular list loads quickly(about 5000 records in the base table). However when I select one or more values from the table and return back to the calling form, it takes a while(about 3-4 minutes) to return to the called form with the selected values.
I guess it is going through the block(all 5000 records) looking for boxes checked off and that is what is causing the noticeable pause.
Is this normal given the data volumes I have or are there any other perhaps better techniques or tricks I could use to improve performance. I am using Forms6i.

Try writing to your PL/SQL table when the user selects (or remove when deselect) by usuing a when-checkbox-changed trigger. This will eliminate the need for you top loop through a block with 5000 records and should improve your performance.
I am not aware of any performance issues with PL/SQL tables in forms, but if you still have slow performance try using a shared record-group instead. I have used these in the past for exactly the same thing and had no performance problems.

Error while calling a form from another form's menu item

I created a main form and menu module for this form.
I am calling another form from main form menu item.
i moved both the forms and menu and compiled them.
But, when i run this form i am getting an error saying
FRM 92100: Your connection to the server was interrupted
This may be the result of a network error, or a failure on the server.
You will need to establish your session.
I set the seperateframe = true
networkentries = 30
But still getting the same error.
Is there any parameter that i am missing.
I will greatly appreciate if anybody can direct me to the solution.

4.5 to 6i migration or report calling from forms in XE???

Hi Friends,
I really appreciate your helping tendency. Let me explain the whole scenario.
My application basically consists of
Forms [32 Bit] Version 5.0.6.8.0 (Production)
Report Builder 3.0.5.8.0
Oracle Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
Now we migrated our database into Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production. After the migration all the existing forms and report individually were running without any problem. But there was a huge problem. Whenever I tried to call any report from any form the report engine appeared and then stopped responding. So report calling from forms was not possible after the database migration. I was suggested by someone from OTN forum to migrate my forms and reports into 6i. I have started doing the migration using ifcmp60. WIth forms 6i, reports can be called from forms. But I am facing problem in every other steps. There are many things are not working after the migration though the migration log shows no error. For example, COMMIT_FORM, EXECUTE_QUERY (for detail table), LOV, TOOL.GETVAR lots of things are not working.
My application has 200 forms and 250 reports.
Please help and advise on:
How to call reports from form when the database is XE Or
How to overcome the stated migration problem

Dear Mark:
I have two choices. I can either migrate to 6i or I can go with the existing 4.5. If I go with 4.5 ......the reports are not being called from forms. This problem is happening after I changed the database from 9i to XE. Please advise what to do so that I can keep my forms in 4.5, database in XE and can call reports from forms.

Calling a Form

I want to Call a form from my menu. I remember that in FORMS 6i, you could use "Call Form", "Open Form" and "New Form".
Is there any equivalent in FORMS 10g, or is there another way to do this ?

Use the same built-ins... they are the same.
the least you could do is check the online help of your forms builder or search the Forum.

Error within Workflow calling a form

Hey,
I have made a workflow with a form getting some values, transmited to a WF attribute, then i call another form which use this value.
First i used a subprocess to call the form and i had this error:
"com.waveset.util.WavesetException: Suspended case with no WorkItems!"
Then i put the Call form activity in the original workflow and i still have the error while another form call in the same workflow works great.
Do someone know about this error?

Check the transition logic in all the activities to make sure there are no infinite loops. You'd see this error messages if there are any infinite loops. Your subprocess may not be getting the variables used for transition. If you are referencing any WF variables inside the SP, declare them as external or pass them.

Calling a form from the main form

Hello,
As you can see here , i want to open a form, when i click on a subitem of ELEVI menu. so i did that, but that form is shown in the back of the main form.. i wanna that form being shown as a child form of the main form, or something like that..
also, i cannot close the second form, why?
the code for opening that form when clicking a submenu item is:

well, the menu for the called form does not exist, so i don't have any menu on this second form, just buttons. the code for calling the form when clicking the submenu item, is:

ORA-12203 while calling a form from external procedure

Hi
I am using oracle 10g 10.2.0.3.0 database with forms 6i. We have created a database procedure , which makes a call to external procedure(C program). Now this external procedure creates a process and process is creating a call to form.
We have checked through the process explorer in the server, process is getting created successfully, but doesn't executed. We tried to start the process manually, it is throwing ora-12203: TNS unable to connect to destination.
We are able to connect the database from form's runtime. but if this runtime is executed from a process which is created by external procedure, it is throwing ora-12203.
Any idea?

How to call another form ,if option is entered in a text item object ???

I am created an application ,where in i press a button which call another form having a menu .
I select any one of the option from the menu ....i enter a number in the text item object of this form ....depending upon what option i have typed .....i would like to call another form ...
My questions are
1) Which trigger of this text item should be enabled,and what code to i write in this trigger ?
2) Since this form is not having any database insert,delete ,update or query (select)
it should directly go to the new form,whose option i provide in the text item .

hey bro, i am assuming that ur text item contains the form name, any relevant trigger can be used for user action, like key-enter, post-change or key-next-item.
to run a form u can use functions call_form or open_form with proper paramters.
if u want to forward the entered text in the item, use global variable for the session.
it doesnt matter if the form contains database items or blocks, all u have to do is run the form.
e.g,
declare
VAR VARCHAR2-------;
begin
/* u can use the variable to concatinate or modify too, also can use global variable
var:=:urblock.uritem;
/* use ur own relevant parameters */

I have a urgent requirement related to form personalization like Calling custom form to standard form based on passing some parameters and after click on save icon then custom form should be enable and open. how to achieve this functionality through personalization.
In brief ......Responsibilty -> Enterprise Asset Management->work order form and in this form's tool menu attach a custom form which comes other responsibility(here no issue) issue is that which trigger and condition used and what should be Action attribute/option. How to disable or enable tool form on some specific navigating the form.
and how pass the parameter through current using form fields.

Call a Form using Webutil from the Menu loose focus on the applet

I have the following problem:
When calling a form using webutil from the menu the focus on the applet (I mean the Forms Application window) is lost and I have to click on the window to get back the focus on the application.
Any advice ?

Try to use the NO_HIDE parameter in the CALL_FORM() built-in.
Call_Form( 'the_form', NO_HIDE ) ;Or maybe, in the[b] When-New-Form-Instance trigger of the called form, return the focus to the calling form

Java class call from form

Hi
I'm doing single sign on via cookie and I able to get the cookie value and for decrypting I loaded java classes on the back end, When I called via form the jvm is crashing with some frm-92101 error.
First I want if anybody can help if I have to run any packages to execute java class from forms, I already created pl/sql wrapper class.
When I execute the function on the backend and got the decrypted value via pl/sql wrapper package but from forms the web servver is crashing, Can any body help.
Also where do I see the log file location.

How to call Oracle form .from another application like VB 6.0

I want to call oracle(Developer) form ,from another application (VB 6.0).I want to call the form in such
a way that user dont need to enter login and password.I will hard code the username and password
in my VB 6.0 application.User only press a button on Visual Basic 6.0 form and and that button will

You have the command in VB 6.0 to run any exe files right (I think it is the system command). Next to that command place the following code to run your forms application
ifrun60.EXE <forms.fmx with complete path> userid=<username>/<password>@<connection string>.
