Urgent: jDev 10.1.3 - no panels (e.g. Editor, Navigator...) after opening

Hi,
when I opened my JDeveloper today, I first couldn't believe my eyes:
There was only this blue background without any windows on it, so I tryed to open them in the menu: View -> Application Navigator, View -> Data Control Panel and so on. But only the Property Inspector opens, all the others not.
Then I tried to open my project with View -> Open -> file.jws but nothing viewable happened.
It is out of all reason to me why the jDev don't started properly today. I worked with it the last 2 month nearly everyday and it always opened with the status I left it the day before. -> the project and all files were already openend after starting, but today...
please help, thanks!

Could you take a look at the .jpr file and .jws file of your specific workspace and at .conf file of jdev itself. Maybe you can find something odd in these files that could explain this kind of behaviour.
Try to remember what you modified yesterday in JDeveloper, probably there's a setting in the project files of JDeveloper that's responsible for this behaviour.
I saw this kind of behaviour for the first time when teaching class and one of my students had the same problem. I extracted JDeveloper elsewhere and copied over the projects he had already created and this worked fine.
Otherwise you can send over your configuration files and project files to Oracle so they can check out what's wrong with yout installation, projects, ...

Since upgrading Windows server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 Standard edition, we get this repetitious critical error in the event log:

Op Code NLS initialization
The NLS operation failed because the registry key Control Panel\International\User Profile cannot be opened. Error code is 2. Error message: The system cannot find the file specified.
We originally found that the regional date settings after changing them in regional settings (DD/MM/YYYY) and they did not inherit properly from the upgrade but they are ok now.
I've looked at HKCU\.Default\Control Panel\International and nothing looks obviously wrong. Country codes, time & date formats are correct.
How do we ascertain the cause of this error and the specific registry key that might be problematic?

Can't shut down after opening Java Control Panel

I'm just a regular guy with Windows ME and since I installed JRE 1.4.2_02 (for Mozilla 1.5), I can't shut down my pc after opening the Java Control Panel. Javaw.exe stays in memory (Norton System Information) even after the JCP has been closed. This was not an issue with 1.4.1 beta which I used for a long time. Then I could open the JCP applet and make adjustments (minor, just whether or not I wanted it to be able to cache applets etc.) then I would close it and nothing interfered with shutdown.
I have even tried Enditall2 and Sysinternals Process Explorer's close and kill functions and neither can close or kill Javaw.exe.
I have very little running in the background and never had shutdown issues until installing JRE 1.4.2_02 and it works fine other than this issue with JCP and shutdown.

Gave up, went back to 1.4.1_05, shutdown problem solved.
Disappointed but at least Java works okay and I can adjust things in JCP applet without having to do the three finger salute twice each time. No more Javaw in memory when I close the applet.
Played with Java Web Start's demos, seem to work fine, I guess. Really don't understand what JWS is for, not for us non-programmers?

Leaving the front panel displayed on a subpanel after stopping

I have a tab control.
Each tab control has a subpanel.
Each subpanel has a static vi reference attached to it for launching.
I would like the image of the front panel displayed in the subpanel after the program has finished running so that any information that was displayed is still present.
Is there a way to retain all the settings between run's?

When you say settings, do you mean controls? If so, you can right click on them and select Data Operations >> Make Current Value Default. That will keep the settings initialized how ever you set them up.
I believe you can use use the Get Front Panel Image VI Method node, similar to the way to run the VI. You can create one by right clicking on the VI reference wire and selecting Method for VI Class >> Front Panel >> Get Image.
I've attached a code snippet of the node. If you want you can just drag the file into your block diagram and it should turn into code.

Installing Control Panel 2/3 causes problems in opening Excel sheets

After installing the control panel 3.0, I can't open Excel sheets properly anymore. A message says that the Excel sheet contains corrupted data and Excel can try to restore them. After confirming this, the excel sheet shows opened but all formating is gone.
I had this issue yet with Control Panel 2.0. After some research on the web I found out that the problem is caused by the CP for Windows. I then switched back to CP V 1.1.4 and the excel sheets opened properly again.
Thanks for any advise. I'm using Windows 7 and Excel/Outlook 2007.

Windows will scale applications display or windows will not scale application display depending on how the application is coded. Photoshop is coded in a way that its display is not scaled by windows. Photoshop knows about your displays high pixel count not its resolution so it uses its pixels however it does not scale its UI to make it usable on your display. Other application let Windows scale their display output.   For example Microsoft default for is Surface Pro 3, 216 ppi display is to scale applications display up 150% so the surface pro 3 display which has 2160x1440 pixels a 216 ppi resolution look like at display with the user is using with 1440x960 pixels. The Application works like the display is 1440x960 and Windows scale those pixels to the displays using the displays 2160x1440 pixels the effectively changing it resolution to 144ppi rather than the actual 216ppi.
The reg update and external manifest file effectively tells photoshop its working on such a size display display some number of pixel wide and some number photoshop uses that as the display size in turn Windows scale those pixels to use the displays 2160x1440 pixels efector lowing its 216ppi resolution. Photoshop CC 2014 2X UI would be like using windows 200% option applications would be shown the are working on a display 1080x720 instead of the Surface Pro 3 2160x1440. Note that 1080x720 does not meet PS requirement of 1024x768. Photoshop UI would not fit on the Surface Pro 3 display..
Since you have a 4k display if you have CC 2014 you can use its 2x UI effectively Photoshop will be running on a 1920x1080 display and have half the resolution of you 4K display 3840x2160 pixels four native pixels are use as a single pixel.   1920x1080 pixels exceed PS requirement.

If you buy an iphone 4 in Korea, it is carrier locked to SK telecom or Show, depending on which carrier you get it from. Please don't respond with useless comments. I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago. My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone. Access the main panel when a message popup is open

Hi,
I would apprecaite if someone can help me out with my current problem. Basically i am trying to access my main panel when a messege popup is open...say i choose a file to save my data from the user panel.....after i select the fiel.....a messege pops up saying file selected or something....but i dont want to make the user press the ok button before he can do anything else on the main UAP.....is there a way i can have the popup be there but yet hv access to the stuff on the main window and later the user can press ok....basically thats popup is just t notify the user..

You cannot do it with popup panels: a popup is intrinsically a modal window, that is user input is confined to this window and the operator cannot access other panels in your applicatin until the popup is closed.
You need to create a panel to display your messages and setup it as a "floating" panel: floating style is one of the additiona attributes of the panels, located in the same dialogue into which you specify if the panel is sizable, movable... A floating panel remains on top of other panels of the application but the user can operate on those other panels while the floating one is displayed (you'll need to show it with DisplayPanel instead of InstallPopup).

Urgent ! help ! Pop-up panel invalidates graph cursor to snap to plot point.

I used PlotXY in the graph control with cursor attribute of '"sanp to point" and produced a plot. Everything is OK before popup a pop-up panel. After the pop-up panel removed, the cursor can't snap to any point of the plot. I tried "SetPlotAttribute (... ATTR_PLOT_SNAPPABLE, 1)","SetPlotAttribute (..., ATTR_PLOT_ZPLANE_POSITION, 0)", they don't work. I don't know how to solve this problem. I need your help! Thanks!

You are using an undocumented data structure for the multiplot. (one x, two y, e.g. as seen here).
Each plot needs it's own x!
If you do the following, things work just fine. (same if you use bundle, of course)
... and please add a wait to that while loop. It is actually not even needed. Cursors lock even back in edit mode, of course.

There comes a strange td containing a script saying that there is a pop-up blocker. And the td has a width. So it destroys my design.

Are you just wondering why that script is appearing in the source or do you have a problem ?

How to bring a VI front panel to the front (of all open windows) when the parent VI calls a sub-VI in Test Stand.

In Test Stand when I call a sub-VI front panel, the pop-up window goes behind all the windows and the user just waits for the screen. I want the pop-up to come to the front so that the user can know what to do. I couldn't find any property that I can set which would make the called VI go to the front.

What version of TestStand are you using? Here are the TestStand palettes in LabVIEW for TestStand 2.0 and 3.1. You can also set a VI to be modal in VI Properties>Window Appearance. Select Dialog or go to Cutomize and change the Window Behavior.

Since I ipdated photoshop CC 2014, my layers and brush panels (and others) will not stay open. AS soon as I open them, they close. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Trying to open my layers or brush panels in photoshop Cc 2014 and they won't stay open. They close as soon as they open. This started immediately following the latest update that I ran today.

Try to open PS in Plugin Disabled mode and check the same. For that Press Shift+PS icon and hit Yes.

My Business Catalyst panel is not working even after re-importing the site. How do I fix it?

The only thing displayed in the panel is "siteNameTooltip(x)" I have also reinstalled dreamweaver, since I was previously getting javascript errors on load. I was able to clear the error by adding a missing reference to bc_main.js in BCModulePanel.htm. Since then, I uninstalled and reinstalled from Creative Cloud and applied an update. The missing reference is there now, but I am getting the current behavior. Interestingly the Configuration folder moved from /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS6/ to /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS6/ with the reinstall.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix, or is this a bug or corrupt install?

Update, I fixed it although it feels more like a workaround. I had to enable the extension in extension manager. That still left a blank panel, but once I closed and reopened the panel I was prompted to login. Seems that closing and reopening the panel is the fix once it is enabled.

My front panel controls are disappearing after the vi starts. Anyone one know how to fix this?

I have some vis that ran fine on an older machine, but with the new computer controls on the front panel dissappear after awhile and can be made to reappear after closing and reloading the vi. I am not doing any programmatic hiding of any controls. The controls can also be made to reappear by stopping the vi and selecting them with a tool, but then they disappear again when you run the vi again. I played around with "bring to front" but that doesn't fix the problem and read a post about OpenGL problems associatted with 3D controls. Any ideas on what to try to fix the disappearing controls?

If you right-click on the terminal and choose 'show control' and then the control can be seen, then it is not hidden behind other controls, decorations, etc. Just to ask a dumb question: have you right-clicked on the terminal and tried Find --> Property nodes to make sure that the control(s) is not being hidden somewhere in your code? Are you passing any control refnums to any subvi's?
