URGENT:Migration of Forms5 to Forms6 & Reports3 to Reports6

Hi,
We are planning to migrate from forms5 to forms6 and reports3 to reports6. My question is how to migrate all the FMBs of Forms5.0 to Forms6.0 FMBs & also reports3.0 rdf to reports6.0 rdf in ONE GO.

Use ifcmp60.exe for forms to convert forms from 5.0 to 6.0 and use rwcon60.exe for reports.

Usually only Open Invoices and Unapplied Receipts are migrated from Old system to New Instance.
Post Migration Reconciliation shall be tough in that scenario. Reconsider/Rediscuss with Client.
Migration can be done using APIs or Custom Scripts using Standard Interfaces.

URGENT: Migrating from SQL to Oracle results in very poor performance!

Dear, I have a banking business solution from Windows/SQL Server 2000 to Sun Solaris/ORACLE 10g migrated. In the test environment everything was working fine. On the production system we have very poor DB performance. About 100 times slower than SQL Server 2000!
Environment at Customer Server Side:
Hardware: SUN Fire 4 CPU's, OS: Solaris 5.8, DB Oracle 8 and 10
Data Storage: Em2
DB access thru OCCI [Environment:OBJECT, Connection Pool, Create Connection]
Depending from older applications it's necessary to run ORACLE 8 as well on the same Server. Since we have running the new solution, which is using ORACLE 10, the listener for ORACLE 8 is frequently gone (or by someone killed?). The performance of the whole ORACLE 10 Environment is very poor. As a result of my analyse I figured out that the process to create a connection to the connection pool takes up to 14 seconds. Now I am wondering if it a problem to run different ORACLE versions on the same Server? The Customer has installed/created the new ORACLE 10 DB with the same user account (oracle) as the older version. To run the new solution we have to change the ORACLE environment settings manually. All hints/suggestions to solve this problem are welcome. Thanks in advance.

On the production system we have very poor DB performanceHave you identified the cause of the poor performance is not the queries and their plans being generated by the database?
Do you know if some of the queries appear to take more time than what it used to be on old system? Did you analyze such queries to see what might be the problem?
Are you running RBO or CBO?
if stats are generated, how are they generated and how often?
Did you see what autotrace and tkprof has to tell you about problem queries (if in fact such queries have been identified)?

URGENT - Migrating from 9i to 10g designer

Hi All,
I have installed new repository for Designer 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and
I have started Migration from Designer 9i (9.0.2.80.10).
I have error message from ckrau61 with cause:
"No Designer Repository has been detected.
Please check connection details and try again".
I have checked TNSNAMES.ORA and haven't found any error. Other
software works with old repository (9i) and i have checked the TNSNAMES.ORA on the server and not on the client ... Oracle is trying to build a db link and it is tested ok.
The Migration from 9i is not supported in 10g?
Help-me!!!!

You do not have to install a new Repository and "migrate" your data to upgrade from Designer 9i to Designer 10g. You just install the 10g Designer client, connect to your existing 9i Repository and "upgrade" it to 10g.
Please refer to the "Upgrading a Release 6i, 9i, or 10g Repository" section in the Repository Installation Guide for complete details.

(URGENT) Migrating Oracle 8.1.6 to 8.1.7 & IIOP config problem.

We had Oracle 8.1.6 installed on Solaris 2.7.
We had to install 817 on solaris therefore i migrated from 816 to 817 (one of the options available during installation).
Since we couldn't get our hands on Oracle 8.1.7, therefore i downloaded it from the technet.
I would like to know that can we do (upgradation/migration) from the oracle 817 downloaded from technet (or this facility is available only from a proper Oracle 817 CD).
Secondly i am facing problem in the IIOP installation for 817 JVM. This is important since we have to deploy EJBs on 817 JVM for Solaris.
IIOP was automatically configured when i installed 817 on NT 4.0
Can u suggest me the solution to the above 2 queries ?

I think, the real problem is how Connections are enlisted in the Resource Manager on the server.
Only resources that are enlisted are associated with global transactions.
It seems, that in 8.1.6 the internal connection was enlisted by default and therefore the transaction worked properly.
In 8.1.7 you can specify, if the default-Resources (internal connection) should be enlisted, in the Oracle-specific Deployment-Descriptor using the tag <default-enlist> as you can see in the example below. If this Flag is set to true, the container transactions will work as in 8.1.6. JDeveloper will insert this tag automatically during creation of the deployment descriptor of an cmp-based entity bean.
Unfortunately I found no information about this tag in the Oracle documentation.

URGENT - Migration form 9.0.4 to 10.1.2

Hello, I have a problem of this type. I'm migrating from forms 9.0.4 to forms 10.1.2. I put the FMB file on the server and compiles without problems but when i launch it on the browser the forms does not start.
If instead I make a new form in 10.1.2 and i load it on the server and fill in when he works by this browser. What should I do Can you help?

Have you put the client java console on to see what's happening on start up ? Have you looked in the application server logs for errors ?

Conversion from FORMS5 to FORMS6

Hi All,
We converted several of our forms and Menus from Forms5 to Forms 6. Now on some of the forms when we try to run them we are constantly getting error " FRM-41067- Can not find menu item: Invalid ID"
Could somebody tell me why are we seeing this message after conversion.

URGENT : Migrate ODI or Change / Recreate Repositories?

Hi there;
I'm using ODI 10.1.3.6.0 and Oracle 10g db server (which keeps both master and work repositories) installed on the same machine.
For some reason, our db guys are decided to move Oracle db to another machine but we don't want to migrate ODI. Will it cause a performance issue?
Should we also migrate ODI to the new machine
or
change/recreate Master & Work repositories?
Which one would you suggest?
I strongly prefer the second way but don't know how?

Migrating forms3.0 to forms6i

I understand that designer2000 is a CASE Tool. Is it possible to migrate forms from lower version to a higher version if we have not developed the form using designer2000? If Yes, how do we do it? Further, does designer2000 generate fmbs from our design specs in designer?

You can migrate forms (x.fmb) from lower version to higher version. Simple way is opening each form in Forms 6i,compile it and generate it. More information you can find here in technet (Products etc.).
Also you can generate fmbs from Designer. There is compatibility matrix - Designer versions and Developer versions. You can find it on Metalink and maybe here in Technet.

URGENT: Migration from EP6SP13 Test to EP6SP13 PRD

Hello All,
I've a Portal running on the EP6 SP13(J2EE, Portal and KMC) and i want to copy all the configuration and data to the another Portal which is also in the same environment EP6SP13(J2EE, Portal and KMC).
Both the Portal's are running on the Windows 2003 and Database is MS-SQL Server. Could you please let me know can i use the Homogeneous System Copy for this purpose.

Well, looks like you missed one step of the system copy
process. Stage 1 creates install packages based on data
and code that SC finds on the source system. The major
trick of stage 2 is that you tell the install of the
target system to actually use the packages created during
stage 1 instead of the the regular install packages on
the install media.
System copy does NOT work with a fully installed target.
On alternatives: I'm not aware of any tools that can
create an exact copy of a given source installation.

Can anybody highlite on this, We will have to install Forms6i Server and Reports6i Server on different machines to work on Web.

if you come from 6i then for Forms you need to run the Forms Migration Assistant (FMA) which will sweep out obsoleted built-in usage if existing. E.g. run_product is no longer an option to run integrated Oracle Reports

XP Oracle9 Developer2000 (Forms5) Listener ORA-03121

Whilst I appreciate this is de-supported...
I have Oracle9 installed on XP.
I have Forms5 and Forms6 installed too.
Forms6 connects to the database OK.
Forms5 errors with ORA-03121 no interface driver connected
Can anyone offer any guidance regarding this issue.

I believe the problem may be XP related or with Forms 5 & 6 in the same Oracle Home. I am running Win2K Pro, Forms 4.5, Forms 6i, and Forms 9i. I am able to connect to Oracle DB 8i and 9i from all developer versions.
Again, I think your problem is with XP or as Frank stated earlier, with installing Forms 6 into the same oracle home as Forms 5.
I have all three products in their own Oracle Home. My Dev 2K products are in the Default_home and Dev 6i and 9i iDS products are in their own respective homes. This works for me (and everyone else in the shop) without any problems.
Oracle 9i Documentation states:
ORA-03121 no interface driver connected - function not performed
Cause: This message occurs usually because the Net8 driver is not loaded into memory or there is a mismatch of the version of the driver. A user program linked with an obsolete library may also cause this message. Only programs provided by Oracle Corporation should use this interface.
Action: If the message occurred during use of a program provided by Oracle Corporation, contact Oracle Support Services. If a user program caused the message, relink the program with current versions of the Oracle libraries.

Sort order in forms 10g

Hello.
I just realized migrating an application from forms6i to forms10g.
In a list of values, elements are sorted alphabetically.
In forms 6i, the sort is :

C
D
But in forms 10g, the sort is different.

3.
Is there a way to change that ?

I use only one database (oracle 9.2).
But, I found the answer.
In one case, NLS_LANG parameter was American_america.WE8ISO8859P15 and ine the other case, NLS_LANG was French_france.W8MSIWIN1252.
With the same value in NLS_LANG for the two cases, it's ok.

CLIENT_OLE2 got WUC-15 error

I'm migrating an application from Forms6 to Forms9 using 10gDS(9.0.4) and WebUtil.
I've been using webutil.pll and webutil.olb in a form for CLIENT_HOST command. It works fine. So, it should mean that the config and settings for WebUtil are correct.
With the same application, I attached webutil.pll and subclassed webutil.olb in another form for the command CLIENT_OLE2, I got the WUC-15 error. I also tried the same thing on another form; it didn't show the error message, but the command didn't work (no response). Can you think of any reason?

A couple of things.
Have you installed Jacob to use the OLE functionality this must be installed?
First sign jacob.jar as per the readme.
You need to add to the full path to jacob.jar in a couple of places (at least windows)
Design time: To the CLASSPATH environment variable and for
runtime: To the appropriate env files eg ..\forms90\server\default.env ..\forms90\server\test.env etc
Also if you look on the forms product page you will see that there is a new version of webutil available 1.06
