Urgent network Imac inte and Imac G5

Hi,
I have all my files in the Imac intel and I want to connect to it from the Imac g5 I have in the bedroom!
It always ask me a passowrd and say it is not allowed or right.
Please how to do?
It is urgent.

You have to enter a user name and password from the Intel iMac, not the G5 iMac.

I have a brand new Imac, I have never been able to get facetime to work. It keeps getting hung up on the log in page, and eventually gives me an error message of unable to connect to network. Safari and other web based programs are working perfectly.

The 3Com wireless router is connected to a broadband
router through a PC running XP.
Do you have two routers? That may be your issue. You should only be using one router, or configure one of the routers and turn of DHCP.

Connecting to existing network iMac to pc's

My church (at my strong urging) dumped their old pc and purchased an intel iMac for our youth group. I have set up the iMac upstairs in the library of the building where we meet. The church office is about ten feet from the building but the library is about 20-30 feet from the office with walls and such in the way. Our old tech guy left the church and I am our new tech guy. The other fellow left zero information. The church is networked together with a bunch of pc's all accessing the internet and printing and all kinds of fun stuff. I just want to connect to the internet with our new iMac from our library. Sometimes the things I read say, "contact your network administrator". I am now the network administrator. We are using xp for the most part in the church but the computer I am typing this on is using 98. (this is why I convinced them to go to a Mac).
The church is connected to the internet via DSL. I do not know the name of our provider, I can only assume it is verizon. I have an Intel PRO/Wireless 5000 LAN Products thing on top of the tower I am using right now (the one with 98) and I thought that I had downloaded the installation disk from the website, but maybe not. The iMac recognizes that there is a signal if I create a network, but I don't want to create a network, I want to join the one th church is using, but I don't even know that name of the network! I know am I not giving you much to go on and this may have more to do with windows than the Mac, but the forums for windows are horrible and I actually wanted good help.

So that I get you right, you want to know what is the name of the wireless network you should connect to right?
1. Find out to which network your Windows PCs are connected.
On Windows Xp you have an wireless icon in the lower right corner on you status bar, if you make a double click on that you will see the status window and there click on the button "show wireless networks" on the next window it shows you the available wireless networks around you and the network you are connected to shows maybe on first place and should show that you are currently connected to this.
There it also shows you the network name.
2. Once you have the network name you will be able to connect with you iMac -> click on the airport icon in the upper right corner and there it shows you the networks available -> your network name should show there and now you just need to click on it.....
It may asks you for a password which would mean that there is setup a security key in the Router.......
If that is you would need to start to config your router.

Setting up network with newer and older AirPort Extremes

Okay, I thought this was going to be so simple. I have a newer (like a year old - square) Airport Extreme that I have three computers wirelessly hooked up to in the house. Great... so now, I want to hook up the old iMac in my son's room that doesn't have a wireless card to the network. It is too far away to use the ethernet cable into the back of my newer Airport Extreme station so I figured I'd dust off the old saucer type base station, plug the ethernet cable into that in my son's room and then just easily get the old base station to network with the newer one wirelessly.
Not so easy. The newer one has no reference how to make a network with other base stations whatsoever and the old book describes how to with the Airport Admin Utility which is not available to the newer version, just Airport Utility and it does not have the WDA options listed. I tried to extend the network and then Doh! The whole network disappeared.
Is this a compatibility issue with the older and newer base stations? Would it just be easier to put in a wireless card to my very old iMac, if that's even possible? Has anyone successfully networked an old and new base station together? If so how?

Welcome to the discussions!
When you have an older "g" device (the flying saucer) and a newer "n" device (the square one) in order for them to communicate using wireless only, you must configure both of them in what is known as WDS configuration.
This is a quite tricky setup for most users. The best set of instructions that I've seen for this comes from expert user Tesserax in this thread:

If you elect to try this type of setup, you will probably need to hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the Wireless Mode selection box to get the WDS option to appear. (My guess here is that Apple "hides" it because it slows down the network substantially). But, it's the only way to do what you want to accomplish with and old and new device.
Other options would include the wireless card you mentioned for the iMac. Even better might be a pair of ethernet powerline adapters. One adapter goes near the AirPort Extreme and the other near the iMac. The AC wiring in your home transmits the ethernet signal of the powerline. Works great, almost no configuration required and better than wireless in many cases.

Wish to create network between PC and Mac

Hi, I wish to make a network between my iMac G5 and my PC running XP Pro. As soon as I plugged in the pc into my router I instantly got internet on my pc. So how do I make a network to exchange files, and share printers, and dvd drives. One of the things I want to do is use Popcorn 2 to burn a DVD but since I don't have a burner on my mac I want it to burn on my Windows PC (with the mac software).

You can't use the Mac's software to burn a DVD on your PC. You can create a disk image, then bring that over to your PC on the network and burn it on the PC, but that will require the software to be on the PC for that. I think that is what you meant anyway, but I wanted to make sure.
Networking your Mac and PC is really not that hard to do. The Apple guides are not as clear as they could be, so start with Joel Shoemaker and Felix. They have some excellent step by step instructions and are very easy to follow.
For printer sharing, you might also need third party, open source drivers. Depending on the connection - on the PC or the Mac - and the printer brand they can be found in any number of places.
Give those pages a look and if you have anything specific that comes up, be sure to post back here and we can walk you through it.

Disabling the computer's security software (firewall and antivirus) usually resolves that error.

When you click on the WiFi network name, have you also provided the password for accessing the network? You should get a dialogue box asking you for the security information the first time you connect.
If you are not able to connect, you might want to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.
Then go back to Settings > WiFi and select your network name again and make sure the security information is now entered correctly.
If you still cannot connect, power down the router, wait a few minutes, power up the router, with the iPad powered down the whole time, and after the router has had several minutes to stabilize power up the iPad. See if it now connects correctly.

When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

On both devices, go to Settings>Facetime and turn off cellular calls.

The short and direct answer to your question about catalogs on a network drive is that you can't do that. The catalog must reside on a local drive.

String.valueOf(int) takes an int and returns a string.
Integer.parseInt(str) takes a string, returns an int.
For all the others long, double, hex etc. RTFM :)

I have an airport express extending, through wireless, a network provided by an airport extreme. How can I know which clients are connected to my network through express and which are connected through extreme?
Here you can see both routers:
I would expect to some clients connected to the express, other than the extreme. And that's all I see: only the airport extreme appears as client of the airport express.
Below, one can see the summary of the config for both routers.
Would somebody explain it?
