URGENT ! ORA-12640

Hi all ...
I have an Oracle 817 EE server and i created 2 bd links ... first is to an Oracle 7.3 server and the second is to an Oracle 8.1.7 server. the point is the first works but when I try to use the second db link I receive the ora-12640 error message (Authentication adapter initialization failed).
I cannot explain myself this behaviour ... Does anybody have an ideea ???
(If I try to connect directly to servers it's working fine ... just when I use the dblinks I have the error)
Thx very much in advance !
Ovidiu

Change the SQLNET.ORA entry sqlnet.authentication_services = (NTS) to (NONE), or comment it out.

  • Oracle Windows Sevice does not start (ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed)

I converted a physical windows 2003 machine to a virtual hyperv machine.
The following error occurs in oradim.log when I try to start the Oracle Windows Service on the virtual server:
    ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed
I recreated the service and the password file but with no luck.
I also tried to change sqlnet.ora with the following: (Replaced NTS to NONE)
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
In this case the service was started but when I tried to connect as sysdba using sqlplus "/ as sysdba" the "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges" error occurs. If you connect using the password then it connects fine. But I would like to be able to connect without a password because I have some scripts that I do not want to hardcode the sysdba password.
I also removed and readded the administrator password from ORA_DBA group but again with no luck.

    Have you seen this:
Oracle Database Service on Windows 2000 in AutoStart Mode with Logon as SYSTEM
(Bug 1397927) If you have installed an Oracle database service on Windows 2000, when logging in as SYSTEM user (Local System), with startup mode set to Automatic, it is possible that the Oracle database service starts but the database does not start automatically. The following error message is written to the ORADIM.LOG file in the ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\DATABASE directory.
    ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed
It has also been observed that the services like Oracle Enterprise Management Agent, Oracle Enterprise Manager Management Server and Oracle Internet Directory may also fail for the same reason because they cannot connect to the database.
The workarounds for this problem are:
Remove the line sqlnet.authentication_services=(NTS) from SQLNET.ORA or set sqlnet.authentication_services=(NONE) in SQLNET.ORA.
Start the database manually after the Oracle database service has started using SQL*Plus connecting as user name INTERNAL. Note that the INTERNAL user name will not be available after release 8.1.7.
Start the service as a specific user:
Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services. The Services dialog box appears.
Select the service you want to start.
Click the Startup button. The Service dialog box appears.
Click This account and specify the user name and corresponding password.

  • Instant Client 10.1.0.5 and ORA-12640 with External Authentication

I am using v10.1.0.5 of Instant Client on Windows 32bit. I have hit bug 5114330 (ANO: ORA-12640 authentication adapter initialization fails if Operating System User does not have admin rights). This was fixed in patch 12 of 10.1.0.5. I copied the updated files from patch 28 that related to the instant client files and I am still hitting the same problem. How do I patch my instant client install to overcome this bug? Using v10.2 of instant client is not an option as it is not compatible with our application.
    Kind regards,
    Steve

I guess that if you know what you are doing, that approach should work fine; the "standard procedures" are there to guide people who have little experience and to provide a cookbook for how to do it.
I am not sure about version 10.1, but in Instant Client 10.2 everything except for the Instant Client shared library (in 10.1 that is oraociei10.dll) is the same as the regular client. The Instant Client shared library contains messages and similar, so probably has no influence on a code bug as you experience it.
What I would do in your case is to install the regular client on a test machine, apply the patch there and see if the problem is fixed there.
If not, you have a better case for Oracle support, because they understand the regular client much better.
If it works there, replace the Instant Client shared libraries with the files from the regular client and see if it works.
In the case that the error persists, I guess there's no way around a Service Request, because nobody except for Oracle can look into the code.
    Yours,
    Laurenz Albe

What can I do to fix this problem?

    Hi, Warren:
    Many thanks for your reply.
    1) I have added sapservice<SID> into adminstrator group and rerun the job, but I got the same error.
    2) how can I checked the user environment of user: sapservice<SID> since I can not login the system by user: sapservice<SID>, and I just login the system by <sid>adm.
And the following is the detail job log of brbackup:

  • ORA-12640 and Windows 2000 vs NT

    Hi,
I installed an oracle DB on windows NT with Microsoft ODBC driver and my application was fine. I got the idea to get Windows 2000. Now each time my application try to access (writing) the DB I get the ORA-12640 error.
In the documentation I read I should enable tracing: i put in the init.ora the sql and oracle trace to true. And get my application running again: I still got the error message but i can't find any trace file. Anyone an idea at what I could look for to find the error? or what the error may be?

Find SQLnet.ora file in your $OracleHome$\netwrok\admin folder where oracle is installed and comment out "SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS) " line by adding # before it. or change this line to
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NONE). this may do the trick.

  • Urgent: ORA-04030 from PL/SQL code

Hi, we are running a data conversion program for Oracle Applications which works in the following logic
    1. There is a loader program which uses SQLLoader to load 6.6L records from flat files to custom staging table
    2. There is a Validation program which validates (for business requirements) records available in the custom staging table. Based on the validation results the program updates the Status field (a column of the table) to ERROR or SUCCESS. This program uses pl/sql table types with bulk insert and bulk update. While we run the program for less number of records it works fine, but when the volume of data is high (6.6L) we get the following exception:
ORA-04030 (out of process memory when trying to allocate ... bytes).
As an work around we have used "dbms_session.free_unused_user_memory;" statement after every plsql table.DELETE call. But still we get the issue. Can anyone suggest us whats going wrong? If we use of Global Temp Table in place of pl/sql table will it help?
    Thanks /Santanu

  • URGENT: ORA-12514: Message 12514 not found;

Hi, I have a big problem:
I have a PC (PC1) with an Oracle 9.2.0.5 database.
I have other PC (client=PC2) with Oracle forms and reports runtime installed.
I try to execute my .fmx from PC2 and everything was ok.
After that, I installed again in another server (PC3) the Oracle database, and when I tried to connect from my client (PC2) to the new database, it appears the error:
    ORA-12514: Message 12514 not found; Product=RDBMS80; Facility=ORA
Why is giving this error? May be the PC3 needs an ORACLE_HOME environment variable or similar?
I've seen the following in relation with oracle_home:
In the PC server (PC3) the ora_home variable in regedit (it doesn't exists as windows environment variable) is e:\oracle\ora92
It's different from oracle_home in PC2 (Pc client) , in which is: c:\orant
    Is it important?
Is this error possible because of the TNSNAMES configuration?
Please help me, is very urgent for me.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi guys,
I've solved the problem: It was in the TNSNAMES. The service_name was incorrect. I changed it and it worked.

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [kxspoac()+502] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0x1] [] []

    Jeanette.

I don't have a metalink account, I need to resolve
this problem urgent please help me.
Unfortunately, ORA-07445 errors are better solved with the aid of Metalink and Oracle support. You can post your contents of the trace file that was generated, mainly the stack trace, to see if some would look up the error for you. The problem though is if the only fix/workaround for your problem is in the form of a patch. If that is the case, anyone that provides the patch will be in breach of their support contract.

  • Urgent: ORA-01403: no data found Error during Order Import

    Hi Experts,
I 'am performing order import by populating the order interface tables and then running the order import concurrent program. I 'am encountering the following error while running the order import program:
    No. of orders failed: 1
"*ora-01403: no data found in package oe_order_pvt procedure lines*"
Can anyone please provide some pointers on why this is occurring and how this can be overcome. Any pointers on this will be immensely helpful.
    Thanks,
    Ganapathi

    Hi Nagamohan,
Thanks for your response. I tried calling mo_global.set_policy_context('S', <org_id>) before invoking the concurrent program using fnd_request.submit_request(...); But, this still does n't seem to prevent the No data found issue.
One more thing that I noticed is, this is happening while importing the customer along with the order. I 've ensured that I use the same org_id for the customer data as well. Can you please let me know whether there is anything else that I should check for.
    Thanks,
    Ganapathi

  • Urgent, ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P000

    Hi Guys,
I am using Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 with Windows 2000 Server.
I have just upgrade my database from 8i to 9i. I am facing this problem in a lot of queries in my application after upgrade. I tried to searched out but unable to find the reason yet.
Is there any parameter which i should /should not use? Or need to change any parameter.
Oracle Error Occured: ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P000
    Thanks in advance.
    Brgs,
    Hassan

Well, the error stack should be displayed along with the 12801 error.
If not, look the comment for the error I posted above: use event 10397 to display the actual error.ALTER SESSION SET EVENTS '10397 trace name context forever, level 1'; and if the error raises, then you'll get the source message, not the PQ message.
    See note 21281.1 on Metalink.
    Regards,
    Yoann.
