URGENT PLEASE: subscription active but illustrator still won't open - possible hosts problem?

My subscription was interrupted (forgot to update my visa card change) but this was re-activated by Adobe yesterday. At that point Adobe UK man said to 'wait 15 minutes' so that the 'subscription renewal' dialogue boxes would no longer apply and I'd be able to access Photoshop and Illustrator again. Unfortunately, he was wrong and the callback he arranged for me later yesterday never came - and so I was left having to call Adobe New York last night instead.
Adobe New York technician accessed my computer and did something with 'hosts'. (I'm not technical but it sounded like the hosts weren't connecting when my sub had been interrupted and simply had to be reconnected again when the sub had by then been reactivated). He got both Photoshop and Illustrator open on my computer and all seemed ok.
After that call, I closed Illustrator but only to find that, when I went to re-open it later, I'm back to the same position that I was in earlier yesterday and which is two Adobe dialogue boxes: first one says "renew your subscription" and then click "try again" which, when I do, gives me the second box and which says: "Subscription to creative cloud is now active. Continue to use your product" but when I click 'continue' it only goes back to the former 'renew your subscription' box again. I'm stuck in Groundhog Day here.
I have had to leave Photoshop open on my computer for fear of this also getting blocked if I close it down.
I desperately need some help because I need to use both software programmes this weekend to finish my course work for my studies' deadlines of this coming week!!.... HELP PLEASE!

    Your Library is damaged.
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.  
    As for goign back: do you have an undamaged library?

    Hold down the option key while starting iTunes and make an new library.  Will it open then? If so, you have a bad library.  With the new library import the library.xml version of the file in your iTunes folder.  This will make it 90% like before (some metadata are not identical, but I don't know which ones).

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Storeand turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • I followed your help directions on "Corrupt extension files" under "Unable to install add-ons", foolishly deleting the files you told me to. Now firefox won't open. I tried reinstalling firefox but it still won't open. Now what do I do?

    I was trying to install the SEOQuake add on. After clicking install Firefox would hang up saying the script had timed out and asking if I want to stop it or continue. Didn't matter which option I chose nothing would happen. The only way to stop it was to close Firefox and restart. Tried restarting the computer. Still wouldn't install. Tried installing the Outwit add on and got the same error leading me to conclude it was a problem with Firefox, not the add on. I found this help page <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons?s=addons+won't+install&as=s> and did everything it told me to. Finally at the end I got to "Corrupt extension files". I foolishly deleted the files you told me to and now Firefox won't even start! I tried reinstalling Firefox and it still won't start. Tried restarting the computer. I have no idea how to get back to where I was let alone install the add ons I wanted to install. Please help. At this point I'd just be happy to be able to get Firefox working.

    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

    I would like CS5 to be able to open .m3u files as text files. I have added M3U into the Extensions.txt in my C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Applications Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS5\en_US\Configuration\Extensions.txt, and the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\Extensions.txt files. I've also added it to the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml file.  I have tried this two different ways: one by adding M3U as an addition TXT file, and the other as a completely new type.
    In both cases, I can do File\Open and it lists my type (either Text Files (*.txt; *.m3u) or M3U Files (*.m3u)), but when I try to open a file with .m3u extension I get "Dreamweaver can't open .m3u files. Please choose an HTML, XML, or other compatible file."
    Is there some other location I need to change this? Or is there somewhere to tell CS5 to open unrecgonized file types as text (the way Dreamweaver 8 used to work)?

    You should never edit files in the *Application* Configuration folder (i.e.C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration). You should only edit files in the *User* Configuration fodler (i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Applications Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS5\en_US\Configuration). The reason is that you can always delete your User Configuration folder to reset to your original installation files.
    You said that you edited "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DocumentTypes\MMDocumentTypes.xml" but you should have edited the one in your User Configuration folder instead. If it doesn't exist in the User Configuration folder, then copy it there first, then edit it. You should just need to add it to the winfileextension and/or macfileextension attribute(s) as a comma-separated value.
    You'll need to shutdown and restart DW.

    Hello anyone,
    I use a Mac Power G5 with OS 10.5.8. I own Illustrator CS2 which, until some point in early February, worked like it should.  Without notice, I suddenly can't initialize the program. The startup gets hung up at the point where it needs to handle fonts and never responds afterward. I've already seen forum discussions about this similar issue and have eliminated my Illustrator preferences, tossed the whole program and re-installed, as well as booted up with a smart boot to cleanse the font cache. Still, Illustrator will not initialize. Can anyone go over this with me again and suggest a solution that doesn't include selling my kidneys?
    I appreciate any advice no matter how inane. Thanks for any.
    These problems are pathetic and wasteful of an owner's time and money.

  • HT1768 Itunes will not open and play.  It says "Itunes has stopped working".  I have deleted and reinstalled Itunes (three times), same with Quicktime.  i have updated the driver, but it still won´t open.  Any other ideas?

    Having the same problem - am running Win 7 Pro 32 bit. Discovered that when you close iTunes task manager shows that iTunes.exe is still running and will not close unless you reboot. I have also found that after starting Win 7 that if I launch iTunes by inserting a CD, the CD plays and displays all tracks correctly. However, if I eject the CD and insert a different one neither Win 7 or iTunes recognises the CD. These problems seem to have started with the release of 10.5.2 - prior to that no problems at all. Have tried reinstalling and it does not make any difference.

    You may be able to get round the legacy JAVA requirement as follows:
    Create empty folders at “/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk” and “/System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle”, to make Illustrator use Jave SE 8 as it should.

    I am experiencing the same thing. My Kindle cloud reader (icon/shortcut placed on my iPad screen) was working fine before I updated to ios7. I can go to Amazon's website and directly log into the cloud reader and it works fine, but when I make a copy/shortcut onto my iPad's screen (from Safari), and try to login, the login screen just sits there doing nothing. I can even put in a false username and password, hit enter, and the login screen just sits there.  Knowing that Apple has made life as difficult as it can for Amazon/Kindle ( demanding outrageous fees for user to purchase books directly through the Kindle app), I wonder if the ios7 was designed to give kindle cloud readers trouble. Note, you could always login to the cloud reader directly from the amazon site, purchase the books, then use the actual kindle reader ( where thanks to Apple you can't purchase books) to read the books.
