In the audit log error code is : General Error
giving error that : soap call failed
any inputs would be highly appreciated.

• Urgent : Soap Receiver Adapter

Hi
Im using SOAP adapter on receiver side to call a web service. Initialy when i tried my end to end scenario I got the following error -
2007-08-07 05:30:57 Error Delivery of the message to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: SOAP: response message contains an error Application/UNKNOWN/APPLICATION_ERROR - application fault.
So in order to find out the exact error I used HTTP client and now im getting the error as -
Result:
<SOAP:Envelope xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SOAP:Header>
</SOAP:Header>
<SOAP:Body>

</SOAP:Body>
</SOAP:Envelope>
Can anyone explain what does this error mean?
Vaibhav

no i just used HTTP client to fire the webservice... it gives a more exact worded error
anyways i worked on it some error and pinpointed the exact error 'Base exception in EJB'... some problem with the EJB that i used as a webservice but when i check the WS in the navigator, it works fine.
Can anyone tell me what cud be the problem with XI not able to communicate with EJB exposed as web service??

• Reading parameters from Query string : Sender SOAP adapter.

Hello Experts,
I have a SOAP to SOAP scenario. Here we will have multiple receivers and dynamic receiver determination is needed.
The sender will send a Value in Query string of URL to sender SOAP adapter. This value in Query string parameter will decide the receiver at runtime.
I need to know, how can we read values from Query string of incoming call? I did tried to search blogs & forum threads but unfortunately not able to hit the right links.
Any inputs will be of great help.
Should i use "Use Query String" on sender soap channel? I tried it, but i was not able to find any query string parameters in SOAP header or payload.
Please guide me, its bit urgent.
Regards,
Abhi.

> But the argument provided from their side is: They are using standard XSD and this service is provided out of box with sender application.
If they can add a URL parameter, they can also add a field to the structure.
> They cant control the value mapping of parameters in payload to the extent required to implement this change.
Adding a new field to the structure would not affect any existing mapping.
> Since they have this custom requirement of multiple receivers & receiver to be determined at runtime, they need to go for Query string.
This can be done based on any field of the payload.
> I need to find a way to read the query string in any case.
This is not supported by SOAP adapter.
> Can I use one of the header parameters to be mapped to this value (By selecting "Use Query string" & "Keep Headers" flag in sender CC) & then extract this value from header using Dynamic configuration ?
This feature works only for XI header fields, like message ID or QoS.
Not for individual parameters.

• Duplicate check not working in sender soap adapter

Hi guys,
I have an urgent problem. I am using a Sender Soap Adapter (quality of service Best Effort) to receive certain web services requests and send back synchronous responses.
I have ticked the parameters "Use Encoded Headers" and "Use Query String" to implement duplicate check.
For this reason I am expecting XI to return errors of the following type when the sender systems posts duplicates:
<SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
<SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="PERSIST">MSGGUID_EXISTING</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1>D00B71AC7AEBDEB3E011E5E43C49D97B</SAP:P1>
<SAP:P2>CENTRAL</SAP:P2>
<SAP:P3 />
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText />
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>Message ID D00B71AC7AEBDEB3E011E5E43C49D97B for pipeline CENTRAL, version already exists in system</SAP:Stack>
<SAP:Retry>N</SAP:Retry>
</SAP:Error>
However, although the duplicates go into an error status, the system is responding with the following message:
<SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
<SAP:Category>XIAdapter</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="BPE_ADAPTER">SYSTEM_FAILURE_INTERNAL</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1 />
<SAP:P2 />
<SAP:P3 />
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText />
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>An internal error has occurred</SAP:Stack>
<SAP:Retry>N</SAP:Retry>
</SAP:Error>
Can anybody tell me how to force XI to return a message type "MSGGUID_EXISTING" when it catches duplicates? Or if there is any configuration I can change?
Many thanks,
Aldo

OK, this problem is resolved.
XI seams to send the error SYSTEM_FAILURE_INTERNAL the first time it receives a duplicate message and sends the MSGGUID_EXISTING error on the following attempt to post the same message.
Cheers.

• Mapping related errors in SOAP Adapter scenario

Hello Friends
I have done this several times and in this particular case I am getting some errors.
Here is the scenario
External  --- (SOAP) ---  XI  -
(RFC) -
SAP TABLE.
Program
I have created an XSD (External definition) to get the data to XI using SOAP Adapter.
I have done the mapping and everything looks Ok to me. I even restarted my XI server. All other scenarios are working except for this particular scenario in question.
When I looked at <SXMB_MONI> I see the xml string coming in correctly with proper tags and data as expected.
However, it is failing with some mapping errors.
Here is the error message I got in SXMB_MONI
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bhavesh,
Thanks for reply.

• Error while invoking the ABAP Proxy via SOAP Adapter

Hi,
My scenario involves SOAP Client invoking a webservice hosted in PI which in turn invokes the ABAP Proxy asyncronously.
SOAP Client -> PI -> ECC (ABAP Proxy) . This works fine.
Next , I have exposed the ECC Service Interface as webservice using SOA Manager transaction. Now, once the service is created using SOAManager, i replaced the XI Adapter with SOAP Adapter and provided the target URL as the URL provided by the SOAManager.
SOAP Client -> PI -> ECC (ABAP Proxy via SOAP Adapter)
With this approach, i am encountering the below error message
2009-05-29 12:17:55 Error Adapter Framework caught exception: null
2009-05-29 12:17:55 Error Delivering the message to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException.
Any ideas on the above errror message? Any pointers or inputs will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinayak Kamath

This is a generic error message which does not have any information about the error which has occurred.
Do you see any error messages in the SOAP client?

• Error in while calling a Soap Adapter using the UDF

hi,
i am trying to make a call to Soap Adapter using a UDF.
The code of the UDF is as follows :
InputStream isPayloadStream = null;
AbstractTrace trace= container.getTrace();
String sService="Business Component";
String sChannelName="Soap Channel(Sender)";
SystemAccessor accessor=null;

trace.addInfo(e.getMessage());
finally{
if ( accessor !=null) {
accessor.close();
return " ";
The above code is throwing an error while end to end testing.
the scenario is such,while graphical mapping a UDF will be used, which will create an Xml payload, and send this payload to another SOAP to file scenario.
The error in the sxmb_moni is: "Error when calling an adapter by using the communication channel CC_123085_UDF_SOAP_OUT (Party: , Service: BC_123082_REMADV_D96A, Object ID: fa9c6ee15efc30c68ec34b08034d87d1) XI AF API call failed. What could be the possible reasons for the error message?
In the target URL of the soap adapter I am specifying the path till .asmx.

Hi,
There are 2 pieces of data that must be provided in the SOAP receiver adapter. Both of them can be obtained from the WSDL of the soap service provider.
1. Target URL, which can be obtain from the attribute "location" of the "address" element in the WSDL.
2. SOAP Action, which can be obtain from the "soapAction" attibute of the "operation" element in the WSDL.

• Receiver SOAP Adapter error

Hi All,

</ProcessMessageResponse>
Thx in advance

Hi All,
I am still getting the same error value is null. I am not able to track what could be the cause of the error. If I am taking the message from SXMB_MONI and using it in a client tool it is successfully calling the webservice.
Do we need to explicitly mention in some configuration that content type is soap/xml. SOAP header is omitting the content type or is not specifying "soap/xml" as the content type.
I am interacting with a WAF websevice, is there any compatibilty issue with Windows Webservice and SAP XI?
Also what should I pick as the SOAP Action from this wsdl file definition
<wsdl:portType name="IMessageProcessor">
<wsdl:operation name="ProcessMessage">
<wsdl:input message="tns:IMessageProcessor_ProcessMessage_InputMessage" wsaw:Action="XXX.Messaging/ProcessMessage"/>
<wsdl:output message="tns:IMessageProcessor_ProcessMessage_OutputMessage" wsaw:Action="XXX.Messaging/ProcessMessageResponse"/>
</wsdl:operation>
</wsdl:portType>
<wsdl:service name="MessageProcessor">
<wsdl:port name="BasicHttpBinding_IMessageProcessor" binding="i0:BasicHttpBinding_IMessageProcessor">

• WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CREATE AN XSD FILE (TO BE USED BY SOAP ADAPTER)

Dear friends
I have a simple scenario.
OUTBOUND DATA --> SOAP ADAPTER --> ( XI ) --> RFC ADAPTER --> INBOUND DATA
The XML file that I got from mapping area of IR (Design) is as follows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:MT_NAME_SOURCE xmlns:ns0="http://test3.com">
<FIRSTNAME>DAVE</FIRSTNAME>
<LASTNAME>SMITH</LASTNAME>
</ns0:MT_NAME_SOURCE>
If you notice, there are only 2 fields.
I need to create an XSD file and import it as an external object, which I can use for SOAP Adapter.
Which is the best way to create it.
Also, I need to know if there is any step by step of sending a message from XML SPY. I have downloaded this software, but am not able to undertand how to use this.
Hope to hear from any experts on this forum.
Thanks in advance
Ram

Hi Ram,
See the below blog..
It shows how to send SOAP message using XML Spy.
It also shows how to generate wsdl.

• The difference between SOAP adapter and WS adapter in PI 7.1

Hello all,
can anybody explain what is the main difference between SOAP adapter and WS adapter in PI 7.1?
I have checked this [link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/0d/5ab43b274a960de10000000a114084/frameset.htm]
but was not able to find the real difference.
Or better, what can I do with WS adapter I can't do with SOAP adapter? What are their advantages/disadvantages?
Thank you all, Igor.

In addition to RM, ws adapter also support other ws standard like SAML which is not available in SOAP adatper. Beside:
if your sender or receiver is SAP system, you can also monitor the message in the sender/receiver in addition to the PI box. This is a very good thing, because sometime the MONI in PI shows nothing wrong, but the MONI in your receiver will show you error message that's only related to the receiver system.
However, if you define ws sender CC, and your ws client doesn't support RM, you will have issue sending ws request.
And ws CC will generate ws runtime in PI box, if your configuration is wrong (like user name and password not correct), even if you correct it, the ws runtime sometime won't be regenated based on the correction. In this case you need to delete the ws CC/agreement, and re-create it with all correct information.
Beside make sure your basis team configured the PI system properly regarding ws. If not, you will have lot of pain to figure the problem which was my case.

• Sender SOAP Adapter

Hi,
Scenario is Sender SOAP and Receiver (Server Proxy) .
Integrated the ESS applications on .net portal using soap adapter..example salary slip, ctcview....
If we give input as empno to soap adapter it will give you salary details back to .net portal.
All this functional;ity are working fine..
Now i need to check the authorization to acess this soap request. As this webservice works for all the employess in the organazation. but i need to restrict for few employees. Is there any authorization check in XI as it is there in ESS.
If so how to use that . Now in .net portal they are useing the same user name and pwd for all the soap requests.

Michal
Hopefully I can help you for once!
You can set the SOAP action to debug in the Java Admin Console.
Set com.sap.aii.af.mp.soap and com.sap.aii.messaging set to DEBUG
Set location
     Services
     Log Configurator
     Locations
     Choose com.sap.aii.messaging
     Assign Severity Debug
See https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/856597 for more info...
