Urgent! Temp folders

I was using iPhoto and I selected to send a photo album to iDVD to create a slideshow video. It started to encode it and then my project was burned into a blank DVD. I didn't saved the project, I simply closed the program. Now I have 4GB missing from the HD, it looks like iDVD didn't empty the encoding temp folder. The only file I found is the 33KB project (auto saved I assume) in the Documents folder. I did a Spotlight and a deep search but I found nothing. Could someone please help me?
Thank you!

Strange, to say the least. Might there be any other apps open currently along with iDvd? Or is iDvd the sole culprit here? Check the activity monitor within Utility folder. What activity if any do you see in terms of CPU and hard usage currently on this mac?
Did you already try a simple drag and drop of the plist for iDvd to the trash followed by a complete restart? plist is located in Preferences and looks like this:
com.apple.iDvd.plist

  • Adobe PDF iFilter 9 for 64-bit platforms + temp folders in the root

Adobe PDF iFilter 9 for 64-bit platforms creates temp folders for some pdfs with attachments in the root of Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 bit machine. Do you know how to solve it?

After having tried all the different suggestions out there I "stumbled" on the REAL solution to this problem (for me at least).
Ensure that the "Windows Search" service has "Allow service to interact with desktop" enabled:
After enabling this you need to restart the service.
Please note that this fix alone (not doing anything else) solves the problem :-)

  • System Center Endpoint Protection creates TEMP Folders / Reinstallation not possible

    Hi all,
After I updated from SCCM 2012 RTM to SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 I have an issue on several Servers, which havin System Center Endpoint Protection 2012 installed (provided through SCCM Agent).
There are hourly Temp Folders created in C:\Windows\...:
The Temp-Folders are including SCEP 2012 Content...
This files are filling up my System drive C:\. I always have to delte those files.
I think System Center Endpoint Protection is trying to reinstall or update itself, and failes...
If I try to uninstall "System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection" manually from the sever, i get the following popup (file not found):
I cannot find the correct Version of this msi-File "fepclient.msi", so I click Cancel, and then I get the Error 0x8007064C (Cannot complete uninstall wizard).
I have this Problem on 4 different Servers right now (FileServer, two Citrix Server, SCCM-Server).
I tried several steps on the SCCM Server:
    - Manual Uninstall
    - Re-Installation with "scepinstall.exe" from the SCCM Client Source (same error)
    - Re-Installation from SCCM Console (Push)
I am not getting rid of this error... I do not want to delete registry keys and testing arround because this are productive Servers... Any ideas how to resolve this one???
If you Need more Details about the infrastructure / OS, just ask.

Reinstalling the SCCM Agent did not help to get any additional log-Information.
    But I did no found a log-file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support\MSSecurityClient_Setup_4.5.216.0_epp_install.log
I find the following warnings / Errors:

  • Emptying all users' temp folders

    Hello everyone
Right now we're having problem with low disk space on Terminal Server. Actually we have applications which
help us to get rid of all temp files easily, I mean without going to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp and deleting files manually These are
    Profiles Scanner
    ICSweep
But these applications cannot remove any item just because I do not have permission to Edit this folder
inspite of fact I’m belonging to Domain Admins group. I can break security of a userfolder, but it is quite time consuming. There're about 700+ userfolders in  C:\Users\ folder. Moreover, we have a lots of trojan name "DWH****" (**** is
random number, like 3D25, 5C68). And this file seems duplicate itself into different name and that's why we have low disk space error on our Terminal Server.
So my question is How do I empty C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp folder without changing the security
on userfolders? I tried to empty through GPO (Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Folders) but I couldn’t get this work.
              Thanks in advance

    Hi,
As per my research, you can try some script to delete all users’ temporary files\folders. For that providing you script link which you can use and modify as per your requirement. Please refer below article for detail information.
    1.  Delete Temp files
    2.  What is the Command to Delete Temp files for all User profiles in a Local
    3.  Use PowerShell to Clean Out Temp Folders
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,

    Hi Andrea,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
We can configure the temporary folders on RDSH server by GPO setting. We can configure the option “Do not delete temp folder upon exit" and the "Do not use temporary folders per session” on below mention
    path.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Temporary folders

  • HELP!! Using a vba script in Outlook to copy attachments to c:\temp folders automatically

    Hi
I'm brand new to Visual Basic really - you will be able to tell that I am a complete beginner. I wouldn't be posting here but I had tried asking other Forums but have not got any responses.
This is the problem:- I've found a basic VB script to copy attachments within Outlook 2000 Inbox to the c:temp folder when a new email arrives in. When I debug the script in Outlook > Tools > Macros , it just seems to loop round and round within the
top function called Application_Startup () and never attempts the objInbox_ItemAdd() function which is the important part. Please can anyone say what is wrong.
I'm putting all this code within Project1 > Microsoft Outlook Objects > This OutlookSession - I bet I'm putting all this code in the wrong place aren't I? Please help anyone.
    Dim WithEvents objInbox As Outlook.Items
    Private Sub Application_Startup()
    Set objInbox = Session.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox).Items
    End Sub
Private Sub objInbox_ItemAdd(ByVal Item As Object)
    If Item.Class = olMail Then
    If Item.Attachments.Count > 0 Then
    Dim objAttachments As Outlook.Attachments
    Set objAttachments = Item.Attachments
    For Each objAttach In objAttachments
' Does not handle duplicate filename scenarios
    objAttach.SaveAsFile "C:\temp" & objAttach.FileName
    Next
    Set objAttachments = Nothing
    End If
    End If
    End Sub
Also, I've set the Security to Low within Outlook > Tools> Macros > Security and a bit baffled why this won't run.
Just for info, I got this VBScript solution from:-
Outlook Visual Basic for Applications Rules

p.s I'm stuck with Outlook 2000 due to a limitation with some Legacy software that my company is still using.

    Thanks jrv.
At the moment - I don't have the time to learn VBA better along with learning the other things I have an intested in already (e.g. PowerScript) - My customer has an outstanding fault which need fixing urgently. I've spent about 5 hours so fa trying to get
a VBA script to work withing Outlook but to no avail. I might ask around my company to see if any one else can help or post this on a non-Microsoft forum I think.
    Cheers all the same
    Matt
So you sold a job to do something you do not knowhow to do.  You are getting paid.  It is your job to learn or to hire someone with the skills you have sold.  We cannot produce custom scripts for an obsolete version of Outlook 2000..
O2000 is almost 15 years old. It is not secure as no security patches have been released for it for almost 10 years.  It is old technology which none of us care to remember unless you want to pay us for the assistance.
Here is the link to the instructions in th KB that you completely ignored:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/235852/EN-US
It shows you exactly how to do this in Outlook 2000.  You must read all of the instructions carefully.  YOu must try all example code and be sure you understand how it works.  Post all issues with how to use VBA in the Outlook VBA developers
forum AFTER you have tried that code and have a specific question and not just a requirement for someone to fix this for you.
The code in the article is explicit to Outlook 2000.  The code you are using is only usable in Outlook 2002 and later.,  You must follow the examples for Outlook 2000 as outlined in your original article.
If you want to be a technician you need to learn all of these things.  Just knowing how to install a PC is not sufficient if you are going to be a contractor.
VBA is VBA.  Posting here will not change that.  This is an Admin scarping forum and not an office VBA forum.  VBA is NOT VBScript.  No matter how much it looks like VBScript it is not.
You cannot just copy VBScript into a VBA module and expect it to work.
You have sold the job of a programmer and Outlook developer with no skills in that area.  Is that fair to your customer?
There are hundreds of skilled developers who have spent good money and time learning to do these things. You cannot just past some things you found on the Internet into a file and ask someone to fix it for you.
Start by learning the difference between script and VB.  Next you need to learn what an event is and how it is generated.  The code you posted does nothing in Outlook because it is not Outlook code.
No.  I am not picking on you.  I am trying to get you to wake up and spend time learning your profession.  It is a lot of fun and actually pretty easy but only if you do your homework.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Why is the PAR file located in portalapps, pcd and temp folders???

Hi all - I downloaded the com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak file to make changes to the logon page.  I renamed the PAR file after it was downloaded, made my changes, and exported back into the portal.  Everything is fine....I just have a question in terms of what the difference is between what appears to be 3 locations where this file is located.  First, it appears that the file I exported is now located at:
    ROOT/WEB-INF/portal/portalapps   (timestamp 10:25:22 AM)
    However, there are backup versions (.bak) located in the following locations;
    ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd  (timestamp 10:24:46 AM)
    ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/temp   (timestamp 10:25:06 AM)
It appears as though the file is loaded into pcd, then to temp, and then to portalapps?  What exactly is it doing, and why are there 2 backup files?
    Regards,
    Steve

I understand the problem. Here are some ideas:
    1) Permission repair only affects files in the system, userfiles are ignored.
    2) For large file transfer, you must be hardwired. Wi-Fi is insufficient for transferring large files.
    3) When copying Mac files to a Windows filesystem, illegal characters in a filename will cause the operation to stop without any informational error message. In any case, copying large files to a Windows machine is not very reliable. I recommend Mac-formatted network storage.
    4) When attempting to mount a nonexistent network disk, Finder stalls with a 5 minute timeout. The solution is to add a "Quit Finder" menu item to the Finder icon in the Dock.
    5) If the machine uses a dynamic localnet address, Finder is unable to locate an aliased network disk that has changed. You need to mount the disk with the "Connect to Server" dialog first to fix the aliase(s). A DNS setup may help to locate machines by hostname rather than IP address.
    6) Switches are problematic. If you are using switches rather than routers you may be seeing congestion on machines connected to the switch.
    7) I highly recommend rsync triggered by a cronjob running in the wee hours of the morning. rsync is robust and persistent in file copying.

  • Urgent - KM Folders Backup

    Hi,
We are having important folders , which has around 5000 subfolders and around 15000 files.
How to take  backup for those files.
We are having Portal on Sun Solaris system.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srini

    Hi Srini,
Check the Repository Manager documentation, to know how different types of Repositories need to be backed up.
    Check this for more:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/62/468698a8e611d5993600508b6b8b11/frameset.htm
So if your repository is CM Repository, then:
Persistence Mode - DB : Database needs to be backed up, as all properties and contents of files are stored in DB.
    Persistence Mode - DBFS : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/44/fa8a46127e0484e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
    Persistence Mode - FSDB :
For a scenario with write accesses, this mode cannot ensure consistent data backup and restore. This is because changes to the folder structure in the file system could be made in the time between the two actions. This would lead to inconsistent data following the restore process. Consistent data backup and restore can therefore be ensured only if read accesses alone are taking place.

  • Cleanup UCM folders (temp/vault/weblayout)

    Hello,
On my UCM instance, There are some files in vault folder (/ucm/cs/vault/), temp folders (/ucm/cs/vault/~temp/) and weblayout folders (/ucm/cs/weblayout/) which take a lot of space and are not used anymore (they still exist in vault but the matching document has been deleted from UCM).
I'd like to know if there's an available tool in UCM to cleanup those folders to only keep the valid files.
Also, can the temp folder be cleared without any risk?
    Thanks in advance,
    Léo

  • Application publishing issues after temp profile usage

We haven't figured out the solusion to this issue but we do know the cause and a workaround for it that works, kind of...
A brief description would be that after permission issues for some users roaming profile storage on the fileserver application publishing and several applications fail in a different way for different users. This is due to the creation of C:\Users\TEMP,
TEMP.DOMAIN etc folders rather than using C:\Users\Username folders. The issue seems to be that App-V 5 client remembers this temporary folder in a way that we havent figured out yet, all references to the temp folders for each users account UID in the
registry has been removed and the roaming profie was deleted locally and on the fileserver YET app-v remembers the path C:\Users\TEMP and tried to create shortcuts etc there without success --> the packag then failes completely and dissapears from the client/powershell
Get-AppvClientPackage view as if its not even published to the user.
The BIG question is how the "#¤/&¤ can you get the App-V client to forget about the C:\Users\TEMP foders and retun to the users correct folder? We have tried to remove all user accounts UID from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Packages
etc and also the users profiles so this data must be stored somewhere else. The issue is local to specific XenApp servers, if the temporary profile wasnt created on a server the issue will never appear there.
The workaround is that all users with the issue have full access to the paths C:\Users\TEMP and C:\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN folders, however when app-v generates shortcuts in that folders we'll need to manually move them to the correct path so that they are
    available to the users, smooth!
The environment is based on 4x Windows 2008 R2 server with citrix XenApp 6.5. App-V 5 SP1 RDS client is installed and configured to use a single publishing server "Add-AppvPublishingServer -Name SERVERNAME -URL
    http://FQDN:8080"
    The details:
(we think) Some users had the follow error since they couldn't access the faulty profile path TEMP or TEMP.DOMAIN:
Failed to create file by callback data: \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS\FE7FE758-FDD8-4208-AF3D-E2505AEF6791\AppData\Adobe\Acrobat\
Another user got only one package (the only package without a shortcut):
This user receives 1 out of 8 packages.
We have tried removing the local and centrally stored roaming profile without any change.

We noticed thet the user DOMAIN\user had a TEMP.DOMAIN profile path due to faulty permissions on the profile store and that this path thoug its fixed was stil configured in the AppV part registry according to below.
Since this key is global to the server and not bound to the user account it wasnt removed with the user profile, we tried removing the specific keys manually where the user account UID occured without any change to the problem. The removed keys werent
    regenerated in the registry though.
The specific user account SID uses TEMP.DOMAIN paths (\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS) for two String Value names "TargetLongName" and "TargetShortNamefolders" in the following key (and others):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Packages\04ADC3E8-E368-4B95-98AF-F53A625070CD_C248B175-B174-41F5-A4D6-62835CF86519\UserConfig\S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX
As mentioned the UID keys "S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX" did not reappear UNTILL we manually created the folder C:\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN with full permissions for the affected user. Once this folder was created App-V recreated the registry keys "S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX"
with the correct \Users\USERNAME\* values however the icons for the applications was distributed to the C:\TEMP.DOMAIN\Desktop folder and since the users desktop is accually in C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop none of the icons was visible to the user.
Another user had similar issues but with the java plugin for internet explorer failing without error messages, once that user got access to C:\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN the user was again able to run java.

    Cheers,
Ended up putting in some workarounds.

  • CS6 temp file blunder - can you repeat this problem?

There is a serious root problem with Adobe's implemented permissionless-temp-file creation methods (pun intended.) The problem is that during startup, both Bridge and Photoshop CS6 try to make temp files on the root folder of the OS drive. Its affecting many peoples' installations by crashing them on application launch if not run by the super-administrator account on the computer. Adobe says to just run as admin to fix it, which does fix the start up crash. However, for me, it creates a gigantic problem: it breaks OS-to-PS and OS-to-Bridge drag and drop functionality completely!!! I literally was slowed to a crawl in my workflow having to import photos 1 at a time through the file-> open menu because I couldn't drag and drop various files from various locations on my computer. Not everything is clumped in 1 area neatly for Bridge to open everything, and I never realized just how much I used this function until this run as admin band-aid broke it. Eventually I fixed the CS temp location after 10-12 hours of hair pulling research and trial and error, and I finally have Photoshop CS6 working without admin permissions and everything is dandy with drag and drop, but only in PS. Bridge still cannot be run without administrator privileges and cannot have files dropped in or out of it to or from Explorer, and I am getting really frustrated here.
Its kind of disheartening that I have to work for 10 hours in order for me to be able to pay and fully utilize Adobe's software. Even 3 months after being made aware of this issue in other forums, and for how many people it is affecting, they still don't fix it when all they need to do is move the default location of the temp file to somewhere without a need for admin permissions! (I.E. documents folder?)
So does anyone else find their drag and drop ability gone once running Bridge/PS CS6 in admin mode? Am I the only one? Is there a way to move the default temp creation location of Bridge as well? I'm frustrated and I think Adobe seems to be taking this permissions issue way too lightly!

I'm running Windows 7x64 Professional. Temp is actually on my RAMdisk but using a folder junction to trick the programs into thinking its on the default temp folders of the C drive. Disabling UAC will fix it yes, but I don't want to disable UAC as I travel with this computer and security is something I prefer to have with me. Its only set to minimal UAC as well, but still its nice for spotting some things. And now, I really am going to look stupid here, but some reason now I can run Bridge without admin permissions without crashing, but now I can't preview or play .mp4 files which was a problem I had before!!! So, now I have a big WTF? expression on my face right now since I've been meticulously trying to get Bridge to work with drag and drop for over a week (and I guess now it magically does once someone actually pays attention to my posts lol) but now .mp4 functionality is poof without admin rights, no matter where the files reside. I think I give up on Bridge I'll just run it as admin but sheesh...
[[ giant pointless image removed by admin ]]
But, I still can post references... these all have a problem with 'MMXCore.8BX_unloaded' on startup (there are more elsewhere but it takes time to find them all):
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/bridge_cs6_release_crashes_on_startu p
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1001298
    http://www.sjogrens.nu/?p=106
Junction points are mentioned in the second post, and that's what I have done on my system (I did it with a program not command prompt, though)
Really though, after all I've read through and tried, changing the default location of where Photoshop and Bridge intitially put their TMP files to a permission-lax folder would really fix all the problems with this, even if it is caused by changing the default temp area, it would solve the issue for everyone that does do it. A user's documents folder would work perfectly. Sorry if I'm a little inconsistent with information I'm tired and just about burnt out on this stuff (including a lack of sleep)

what is the name of the folders which are the backup of Itunes library? I am recovering from a virus, have no workable desktop in Win XP, but can search and find files and folders. I would like to move these backup files to a new computer, authorize it and sync with Iphone 3Gs and Ipod 5th gen.

I second the whole iTunes folder approach.
If for some reason you have split the media folder from the library files then the media folder needs to restored to the same path it used to have while the library files can be copied into the music folder of your new profile.
If in dobut, backup up the entire Documents and Settings folder before wiping the infected drive, but be selective about what you restore as many viruses drop active components capable of reinfecting the compuer in the temp folders and internet caches. It is much easier to backup more than you need than to discover after the fact that you no longer have access to some vital project you'd been storing in a folder on the desktop.

  • Google Redirect Virus Fix - How to Locate Internet Temp Folder?

Hi - I am hoping to remove the google redirect virus and, following instruction from an eHow article, I need to delete both my computer and internet temp folders, and then establish new, empty folders for temps.
I assume that "internet temp folder" means there is an actual folder for my firefox temp files? If so, is this found within the browser settings? Or, is it something that resides on the computer?
Sorry for my ignorance ... this virus is sending me into entirely new levels of the learning curve...
