Why did the developers @ Mozilla drop SAP portal Compatibility?
A company I used to work for (and the company I work for) both use SAP over the internets, one for international work at the office, and one for working from home. According to both, Firefox 3.8 is the last known compatible version - and when contacted, the SAP developers said that there is nothing they can do.
I realize that I can use compatibility modes for the place I work for now, but there isn't time (it's a bother and a pain) at my old workplace to fuss with it. So, my question is, what's the big deal? I would like the long-winded, official version, if it is possible...I assume the Mozilla developers don't use and have no knowledge of the details of the SAP portal. If they removed or changed something needed by the portal, they probably had no idea it would affect SAP's portal. So it is a mistake to consider it an intentional decision.
To find a solution, we need input from SAP or someone with intimate understanding of SAP's portal. If the developers can say "it no longer works because Mozilla removed features x and y" then someone can research why features x and y were removed and see whether there is a workaround. Otherwise, there's no way to answer your question. -
Failed to start dependent service com.sap.portal.usermapping
Hi
I am trying to retrieve the User mapping information from my Webdynpro application. I added PORTAL:sap.com/com.sap.portal.usermapping to my service references in the web dynpro application. However, I am getting an error while deploying the application. The error message says
Failed to start dependent service ''com.sap.portal.usermapping'' of application ''local/materialtemplateapp''. Status of dependent component: STATUS_MISSING. Hint: Is the component deployed correctly on the engine?
I know this is a pretty old problem that many other Web Dynpro developers encountered. I searched a lot on the forums and SDN. There are similar posts but I didn't find solution. I would appreciate any help in fixing this problem.
ThanksHi,
Goto http://<servername>:<port>/webdynpro/welcome-->content Adminsitration
Now, expand sap.com and search for the usermapping service. Check what is the status of that particular service. If its in the stopped state then start it and try redeploying your application.

Srinivasu.yHi,
Your question is not clear. Second, people are bound to get offended if words like "Urgent Requirement" or words like "clearly state the files " is used.
Please clearly state the requirements. If people know the solution they would answer it. This is not a support portal , so please make sure that you do not offend the community.
Go through this link
<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=285259&tstart=0">Rules of Engagement</a>
And do state your question clearly.

Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) and SAP portal
Hi Guys
Do you have experience or knowledge about the integration of UAG as a reverse proxy for SAP Netweaver portal 7.0?
We are trying a setup where the SAP NW portal uses SPNEGO/kerberos authentication (and it is working), but when accessing the SAP NW portal through UAG we get a "HTTP basic authentication" prompt, while SPNEGO login module fails. UAG can be configured to use kerberos contrained delegation, but it does not work for us.
Anyone who have setup UAG - SAP NW portal integration ? Did you succed with any SSO: Which authentication mechanism' did you configure in UAG and i J2EE?
Best regards
Tom BoHi Tom,
I work as a consultant for various customers who seek my companies expertise in Microsoft Forefront security. I published SAP Portal 7.0 for my customers and was able to provide seamless single sign with UAG.
We configured NTLM authentication in UAG. We then configured SPNEGO and enabled fall back to Basic Authentication on SAP. This should work but you may need to write some authentication modification scripts if you are getting username/password errors.
In addition, we did strong 2-factor authentication with RSA for one customer. Some of our customers also ask about enabling endpoint detection to do things like, If you dont have an updated antivirus, then you the user cannot download any documents from SAP.
Thanks!

Com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap doesn't work
Hi all,
I needed to change the file 'WinGuiRenderLayer.properties'
I found the par under 3 locations:
d:\usr\sap\SPD\jc00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap
d:\usr\sap\SPD\jc00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
d:\usr\sap\SPD\jc00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\temp
I changed the file in those locations (I removed the bak extension and restarted the server).
Also, I made sure that the pars/directory contains the jar files.
After I restarted the server the application integrator iviews doesn't work (Web Dynpro, Transaction...).
Before I did the changes, I backed up the original pars/directory.
Copying the original pars didn't help.
How can I solve this?

Thanks,
OmriSolved it.
This is what I did:
1) Took par from my production environment (same SP level)
2) Clear the par (by using 'Archive Remover')
3) Clear the pcd cache
4) Upload the par (redploy)\
5) Restart the portal
Thanks,

Hello,
We are thinking about implementing the BI 7.0 and publishing some reports with it in Portal. Question is should we use the BI portal or SAP EP portal? We are already having SAP EP 7.0 installed and BI portal (with BI) is also installed.
For performance reason -- we should use the BI portal for report and links these reports in main SAP portal so user has one single point of to see the report from SAP EP.
My thoughts on performance on single source of (main) portal for BI and all the other stuff on main Portal should not be an issue because all the work for querying the reports will be done in BI server, Portal is only show the reports ? is this assumption is correct?
If we have two portal, as system admin we have to maintain two different portals,
What be the best approach (pro and cons) using the BI Portal VS SAP Portal?
Please advice.

SSO to J2EE application from SAP Portal
Hi
I am trying to do SSO from SAP Portal to a J2EE engine which runs on SAP Web AS.
Here are my queries
1. When I deploy a J2EE application on Web AS , I dont get any login screen. How can I make sure that if a user wants to access this J2EE application he should get a login screen and provide his login credentials first, only then would he be able to access the J2EE application.
2.When I am done with Part 1. If a user tries to access this J2EE application from the Portal (asuming the user Id's in Portal and J2EE application are same and both are in the same domain) , I should not get any login screen and should be able to view the J2EE application.
3.I want to use SAP Logon tickets generated by the Portal to enable SSO.
I have done all the necessary configurations in the J2EE server.
1. Imported the Portal's verify.der certificate.
2. Adjusted the login modules stack for the application accordingly.
Can anyone please help me out with this or throw some light.
Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Vivek
PS - Points will be definitely rewardedHi Vivek,
Let me give you the solution for both questions differently.
<b>Ques 1. When I deploy a J2EE application on Web AS , I dont get any login screen. How can I make sure that if a user wants to access this J2EE application he should get a login screen and provide his login credentials first, only then would he be able to access the J2EE application.</b>
<b>Ans:</b> For doing this in the code of your J2EE application you have to write a if statement which will check if the user ID is coming from the backend or not. If yes then you display that logon page else you just pass that username which is coming from backend and displ;ay the page accordingly.
<b>Ques 2.When I am done with Part 1. If a user tries to access this J2EE application from the Portal (asuming the user Id's in Portal and J2EE application are same and both are in the same domain) , I should not get any login screen and should be able to view the J2EE application.</b>
<b>Ans:</b> Yes, this is what I am explaining you. Even I had also made same kind of J2EE application in which if the user is coming from the backend then he/she will look the J2EE screen else if the username is not coming then he will se the Login screen. Exactly same as what are looking for.
<b>3.I want to use SAP Logon tickets generated by the Portal to enable SSO.</b>
<b>Ans:</b> I have used User Mapping instead of SAP Logon ticket. Well that is also the option for SSO but personally I think User Mapping is easy and better way for implementing SSO.
I dont know whether this will help you or not. Please let me know. I can definately help if you want to implement SSO using User Maping.

Hi experts,
We had an issue with portal access. I wonder if portal is venerable for security threats?
Could you please let me how to restrict the unauthorized users (anonymous user) to the portal URL.
https://HOST:50001//irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default .
Appreciate your help.
Regards
MarutiHi Maruti,
Hope you are doing good.
Can't you just amend the portal permissions so that this access is not possible.
The PCD location should be:
com.sap.portal.system/security/sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal/no_safety/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher....
Hope this helps.
Thank you and have a nice day!

How to access Sap portal login user in ejb web service
Hi,
I wnt to access SAP Portal login user in my ejb application which resides on the same server.
I am using following code
try {
IUser user =null; IWDClientUser wdUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
user = wdUser.getSAPUser();
} catch (WDUMException e) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
Some additional jar files are required for this?
The same code works fine with webDynpro but not with ejb.
Thanks in advance
Best regards,
NileshThanks for reply.
I have already added com.sap.security.api in my EJB module project classpath. How to add the same in EJB application Project (application-j2ee-engine.xml)?
Best regards,

SSO from Microsoft to SAP portal
Hi guys,
I am stacked in something regarding SSO, the problem here is that I have to create and ASP.net application able to create the SAPLogOnTicket and bypass the SAP portal logon screen and everytime I am using may application I have not to log in again in the SAP Portal.
Anyone who have an answer or a working example, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
ArmandoHi Armando,
if your application is extranet application (you access it from internet) then you need to use citrix to log in to the portal without asking for username and password.
if the application is accessible from the intranet then you need to identify the application in the portal landscape system. for more information on this subject you can read the following useful help:
