Url autofill getting really annoying..way to full

I am about to bail on safari cuz i can't edit url autofill. It is getting way to full. I will settle for just turning it off at this point. I scanned the discussions and it seems like its a bug that has never been fixed. Autofill address book can be edited. Resetting Safari and history does nothing. Safari preferences does not affect the url history. Any workaround for this.

URL Autocomplete gets its data from the cache, history and bookmarks. Keep the history and cache reasonable cleared and go through your bookmarks and delete old or seldom used bookmarks.
A workaround when typing address in the address window is to either begin or end with a blank space - this will get rid of the alternatives.

No one's been able to do that yet. And people a lot smarter than you (and me) have tried.
The basic way malware works is that it runs a program on the device. However, the iOS does not allow any program to be downloaded or installed onto the device, unless they are from the App Store. And Apple thoroughly checks all apps submitted by app-developers before allowing them onto the App Store.
In essence, imagine that there is a fortress that has absolutely only one entrance; a guarded front gate. And the guards will only let in people that have proper identification. Without that identification, they will not open the gate.
The fortress is the iOS device. The guards are the operating system. The identification is the App Store.
You didn't come from the App Store? Then you can't come in. It's as simple as that.

I'm getting really annoyed with the Mac.

Don't mean to offend geniune Mac fans here, but I'm just getting really annoyed with the Mac.
I purchased my Mac mini (late 2012) in May of 2013 - so it's about 4 months old. I don't have a lot of software on it, mainly the Adobe Creative Suite, and development tools (Xcode, and web development software).
The mini has this annoyance where, every so often it just freezes. It usually happens during when the screensaver is running, or when the monitor goes into standby and I try to wake it up. First the screensaver runs for 15 minutes. Sometimes it happens (it's random) that the screensaver "stalls" and the mac freezes. If it "survives" the screensaver, then after 15 minutes my monitor goes into standby mode. Sometimes when I wake up the monitor, I get the login window, I log in, and then I find that the Mac just froze.
A few days ago I've updated to 10.8.5. Now these freezes are happening more often. The mac freezes just whenever, regardless of screensaver or not. There was a time when I had ReadKit running, displaying an article. I went to the kitchen, when I came back the mini was frozen as ice. No other program was running (I mean program that I started).
Other times I had Chrome open at youtube. It was not playing a video. The browser was just "parking" at youtube's home page. Same thing. I go away, come back, the mini was frozen.
Yet just a few days ago, I had no user started application running. None. I leave the mini alone for a short while, come back, and I find the fan was running like crazy. The mac was not hot at all, but the fan went bonkers. It was loud and pumping air out for no reason.
At these times I can't do anything. Sometimes I can move the window, or move icons on the desktop, but I cannot force quit an app, neither I can start one. So things like going to the apps folder and starting terminal or activity monitor is not possible. I cannot select menu items from the Finder (or any other application) menus, so I can't restart or shut down the mac. The only thing I can do at these times is hold the power button for a few seconds to force the mac to shut down.
I'm coming from Windows. I built and upgraded my PC a few times in the past 7-8 years with newer and faster MOBOs, processors, memory, etc. I never had a bad component; I never had a blue screen; I never had my PC hang; I have never encountered any issues that would make my PC hang or froze or otherwise. I never had to troubleshoot software or hardware problems because they were/are just non existent. I'm not trying to start a war here about PCs and Macs. I'm completely natural.
But here I am with this "thing" that supposed to be so great and trouble free. I have already reinstalled the OS once during this 4 month old mac, but now it seems I have to do it again because ever since 10.8.5 things has gotten worse. This is really N-O-T what I expected from a Mac. I am just really annoyed, frustrated and everything else.
I was browsing these support forums and tried/looked at a couple of diagnostic steps, but none helped so far. I will attempt to reinstall the OS A-G-A-I-N over the weekend. If that doesn't help, then I will have to put this junk into the garbage can. (Well, figuratively speaking of course.)

Hey thanks for the feedback woodmeister! No, I was not aware of the hardware diagnostics!
So I have eagerly followed the isntructions, but I quickly found out what I have already experienced looking at other Apple "unhelpful" documentation. When I was referring in my OP that I've looked at other resources, the problem was that those "un-support" documents were out of date and the article indicated that Apple has retired them.
Now as far as the link that you sent (and the same can be found in the Help section of OS X as well, wasn't helpful either. Why?
In the document the bullets are as follows:
If you have a new Mac (mid-2013 or later), use Apple Diagnostics, which is built into your Mac.
If your Mac has OS X v10.8.3 or earlier, use Apple Hardware Test, which is built into your Mac.
If you updated your Mac to OS X v10.8.4 or later, use the system software disc or USB flash drive that came with your Mac.
Let's start with bullet #1. As far as I know (and correct me if I'm wrong) but I'm not aware of mid-2013 Mac minis. Mine is late 2012, so I guess I don't fit into bullet #1.
Bullet #2. I have OS X 10.8.5 so it means I don't fit into that bullet either.
Bullet #3. Yes, I did update to 10.8.4 or later (using 10.8.5) but neither a software disc nor a USB flash drive came with the Mac mini late 2012 model.
So what now? Another great "support" document that is confusing and/or not helpful. Nevertheless, I did give it a try. Disconnected my ethernet cable, hold down D, and rebooted. I get a "Choose Network Connection" drop down on the gray screen where I'm supposed to choose a Wi-Fi network. Why? This has not been mentioned in the docs. My Wi-Fi is disabled because I'm connecting through cable.
So I reconnected the cable. As soon as I did that, I got the message that ... let's see... my memory is failing me... the recovery mode or reinstalling the OS will begin... or something along that line. There was NO ANY INDICATION about any hardware test or diagnostics!
See, what I mean about frustration...?

Have you run Keychain First Aid. Utilities> Keychain Access. From the menu bar click on Keychain Access> First aid

My firefox crashes every 2-5 minutes for unknown reasons. its getting really annoying and i really need help with this :( i cant seem to get an ID on the crash report, its giving a different reason everytime.. i think. please help !

i have many many crash reports and they all seem different. yet, whenever i search the support pages for help on those crash IDs it shows 0 results. alot of people are having the same problems, and i hope we ALL can get help on this. its getting really frustrating and annoying :(

HT204216 On my PC I used to having messenger IMs move freely through out my screen. is there any way to get this effect on a mac? Switching screen just to respond to an IM is getting really annoying.

coming from a PC user: Is there any way to Have IMs from messengers be able to "float" freely within the screen Instead of flipping from safari( or whatever is open ) to the messenger? I'm not sure this even makes sense.

Many providers either assign and/or let you set an email address to be used instead of your phone number. All the providers here in Japan do that. It may be possible in the U.S. too.
So while you can send to my phone number (which is only useful if using an app which capable of doing that), you can also send an MMS to a special email address, which makes it possible to send MMS messages from an ordinary email client to my phone. That is very convenient.
On my iPhone 5 there is a setting in Settings > Messages at the bottom that is labeled "MMS Email Address". If I enter the email address there (which has to be registered with my cell phone provider) then people can send me MMS messages from phones or ordinary email clients.

This is getting really annoying

Not only have I lost access to my Microsoft Office use, (as mentioned in another thread) but Safari crashes constantly now as well. I get a "Shockwave failed to load" and then it crashes. This is ridiculous. I look at all the other thread and see the thi supdate has basically taken us all backwards. It reminds me of how it was when OSX was first released and all the problems we had. Anyone have any suggestions on the safari problem? I really dont want ot have to do an entire reinstall. I tried the other option where you archive, but it wont let me, I get an error when I tried that.

Thank you for replying - and understanding that most of us here try to help! Your analysis is where I was going - everything 'appeared' OK, and the update unmasked some pre-existing difficulty.
If you have already reapplied the combo updater and done the other 'standard' troubleshooting things, you might wish to consider an archive and install (after you have everything backed up). The A&I takes about 1/2 hour and will install a fresh OS X - which you can then update with the combo:

A&I is not a magic bullet, but it will give you assurance that your version of OS X is in pristine condition. If you decide to do that and the problems still exist, we (or others) can try to isolate the difficulty.
One thing I just though of that I forgot to mention. You might wish to open the font book application and eliminate duplicates and also check for corrupt fonts. I have never had that problem myself, but others have indicated that corrupt fonts can cause all sorts of bizarre problems.

Podcast app is deleting my podcasts whenever i come home, help this is getting really annoying and frustrating

Earlier today i came home from church and checked my podcasts realizing i only have like 5 podcasts instead of like ~43 podcasts, this is really frustrating and annoying

This is happening to me also. I believe it is caused by iCloud synching podcasts with a shared appleID. I am trying to figure out a way to test it, but there is no setting for iCloud anywhere relating to podcasts. I am going to try changing the iTunes store Apple ID and see if it helps, although this could mess with every other app on the phone. I will try and post what happens. Any other info about how the podcast app synchs with Icloud would be appreciated. Apple are you out there?

Why does my iphone 4s not display the correct battery percentage? it can get really annoying if it turns off unexpectedly and after that another problem occurs with the phone turning off and on repeadtly

Everytime I use the firefox browser it will freeze up when refreshing a page or changing to another page saying program not responding. This is getting really annoying, is there anyway to fix this problem?

Everytime I check my email and switch websites the program will become unresponsive and freeze, then it will say "Not Responding". After waiting a while it will work again but with it freezing up for every time a page changes or refreshes it's a waste of time for me to use this browser.

Everytime I'm playing a Face Book or other web sites after time has gone by I keep getting an error message that says something about an unresponsive Script or its busy. Getting very annoying

After playing for awhile a Face book game or any other web sites I begin getting an error message that says a busy or unresponsive Script. It has the option of "Continuing" or "stopping" the script When I click to Continue the same error keeps popping up all the time. Same as with clicking on the "Stop" the script option. Is there a way to change 2 really annoying things about the iTouch?

I have a 16gb Ipod Touch and was wondering if there was a way to disable these 2 really annoying features.
1. When your listening to music and turn it sideways it goes to album view and you have to look at your ipod to go to the next song since it gets rid of the Next / pause / back buttons.(( i listen to the ipod in bed so i usually just hit next song and be done with it.
2. The auto correct when your typing because im pretty good at typing on the itouch. Example... i type a word and the itouch suggests a word that is somewhat similar and if you dont click the x next to the suggestion it will put that word in automaticly(( if your a fast touch typer like me it puts the word in if you hit space and its REALLY annoying.
If anyone knows any ways to stop these 2 things thank you.

Thank you very much for your reply gdgmacguy :) I did all you suggested apart from restore as new device . Didn't know I could do that . After restore I did restore from back up only, as I didn't want to end up without contacts details on my phone. If I restore as new device how do I get my all contacts? Still will have to use back up? Sorry if it sounds like I don't know what i am doing, i just have no one to ask who would know. Thank you
