URL for Bex Broadcaster

Hi All,
I would like to know if there is any method to pass the value of the variable along with the following URL for directly accessing the broadcaster setting:
http:///sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&cmd=start_broadcaster&SETTING_ID=<MY SETTING ID>
So that the user should not have to select the variable value in Preacalculate tab.

Oh do u mean? all this to happen on the fly?
See Broadcaster is to send the report for the end user with some values. If he has to see the same report all the time with different data that is achieved this way. If not create as many settings as different customers and trigger that setting as and when required.
We also have a filter setting provided there in the next tab.
But we cannot pass a variable to the broadcaster. Because the URL just try to hit the appl server directly. and that url is autogenerated with all the parameters set.

I'm trying to broadcast a report for a specific time period as per factory calendar. I tried using System Time Point :RSRD_BROADCAST_FOR_TIMEPOINT but its not showing when In the broadcaster when I put restriction of factory calendar so i followed below link: Broadcasting timepoint scheduled after an event and created a PC to start after event and created variant for RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER setting ID as my Bes broadcast setting technical name.
When I trigger the event its processed and report emailed to me as I expected. Now I want to run this (Trigger) this event every Wed day after fisc quarter close. I wrote the below logic in se38 PROGRAM. But Now I need little help on how to trigger /run only on wed days after fisc quarter close ? Please update the below code or guide me on how to achieve this.

in your ABAP code try this,
calculate whether current date falls after fiscal year quarter. If so then check whether its a Wednesday and call the event raise FM. You can schedule this program in background daily basis.
Use this FM for day calculation DATE_TO_DAY.
This FM for converting sy-datum to fiscal year/period - FI_PERIOD_DETERMINE,DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT

Require License for Information broadcasting

Bex Broadcaster webtemplate Error SSO : call FM RSRD_X_GET_INFO_PROX

Hi,
I've applied note 972514.
Our call for Bex Broadcaster since our portal, are working well for queries, but when we choose (open) a webtemplate and decide to schedule it (by creating new settings )
we have the error message :" Java system error: call FM RSRD_X_GET_INFO_PROXY to ProgId LIL178UX_PORTAL_FW9 on host LIL178UX with SSO not authorized: Authentication failed.
Error Cannot generate broadcast setting for current context"
I've checked the logs (same error message)
SSO seems to be configured well (RSPORT_SETUP+Support Desk Tools are ok)
Help would be grateful and reward.

Does the authorisation user in the broadcast setting has authorization to broadcast?
Because that's exactly what you get when the authorization user is missing the broadcast-auth.
You can test this by putting a SAP_ALL user in the authorization user and test it.

Will BEx Broadcaster Licenses work in BO Enterprise (upgraded from BEx) ?

Hello all,
We are currently using BEx tools for BI Impl. We know that we require licenses for BEx Broadcaster. If we upgrade to Business Objects Platform can we utilize the same Broadcaster licenses or we would require fresh licensing ?

Information broadcasting - precalculation error for BEx workbooks

Hi,
i have problem with Information broadcasting for BEx workbooks 7.0. At the log display of transaction RSRD_ADMIN i get a red status message with " Cannot precalculate workbook XYZ" -> connection transfer did not succeeded.
At the transaction RSPRECADMIN -> show queue (program: RS_PREC_SHOW_QUEUE) , i see that the request is listed as "successful precalculations" (?!)
Some hints:
-Further tests (2 days ago) were successful for workbooks and query email-bursting
-Precalculation server is switching between green and yellow status every refresh
Do you have any ideas or hints?

I would like to suggest you something:
Go to Windows -> Services (Start -> RUN -> Services.msc)
Stop the SAP Precalc. Server
Start the SAP Precal. Server Multi-instance.
ON THE PRECALCULATION SERVER, access your system via SAPGUI and go to RSPRECADMIN.
Then, there is the tip, register 10 times the Precalculation Server with different names.
E.g.
Precalc1
Precalc2
Precalc3
Precalc4
Precalc10
Then, test again.

Variant for Control Query on Bex Broadcaster Filter

I am trying to create a Bex Broadcaster setting on a query via query designer (query -->Publish --> Bex Broadcaster). In the Filter Navigation Tab, I want include a filter using a control query with variants. My control query has a variable that is set to (single value, mandatory,manual input) and i created a variant for the control query on the web. I am able to create the Bex Broadcaster setting and enter my control query but when I go enter the variant it always gives me "No selections available".
Another issue that i am having is - when I try to create a filter on a characterisitc in the Bex Broadcaster and give mulitple values in the filter, it ends up generating seperate excel files (distribution type is e-mail) for each value in the filter. Is there any way i can consolidate all these results and get it to generate on single file?

1st : no wanswer by now.
2nd : don't filter in the Broadcastsetting, filter in the Broadcastquery to avoid a broadcast for every filter value.

Replacement for BEx Browser in BI 7.0

Hello.
I'm at a customer that will upgrade their system from BW 3.1 to BI 7.0.
Nowadays they have a lot of workbooks published in the BEx Browser.
I understand the BEx Browser is not longer available for use in NW04s - BI 7.0.
How can I have the same functionality of BEx Browser ( a single point of entry for all my workbooks) in BI 7.0?. is it a mix between KM and the BEx Broadcaster?.
They needed a "pull tool" and the BEx Broadcaster is a "push tool". doesn't it?

You can also look at implementing bNavigator which has been developed by <a href="http://www.entelsoft.com/">Entelsoft</a>, as a BEx browser replacement.
bNavigator does not aim to compete with the Enterprise Portal - rather it is complementary with some unique advantages. It has "Powered by Netweaver" certification for installation in the Enterprise Portal or it can run standalone on the SAP Netweaver J2EE Application Server that comes with BI 7.0.

What authorizations for Information Broadcasting are required?

Hello experts, this is a scenario which has recently arisen. We have the BEx Broadcaster properly configured for e-mail broadcasting at least. Users need to be able to use the Broadcaster, in particular the e-mail function for WAD reports. However, we do not know what roles/profiles/transactions must be assigned to them. Whenever users call the broadcaster, the broadcaster wizard popup window opens but displays nothing (sends a "page not found" error). We know it is properly configured since we tested it with a user with profile SAP_ALL and it worked correctly. Since no one has that profile assigned (because of obvious reasons), the Broadcaster cannot be used.
Any suggestions?

Hi, thanks for the links. The users are now able to do information broadcasting. Unfortunately, some users are receiving the following error:
Access Denied
¿What happened?
Call to URL http://myhost:8000/sap/bw/Mime/BEx/Misc/PleaseWait.html was cancelled because logon data is incorrect.
Note:
System login was executed on system BWP No logon data is displayed

As far as I have seen, this error is not affecting the information broadcasting operations (users are, for example, sending and receiving e-mails correctly). However, I know that there could be some functionalities not working due to this and I would like to fix the error.
Any suggestions?

No response When I clicked Bex Broadcaster

Hi All,
In BW Development system I am able to Broadcast my query into Internet Explorer.
Where as BW Quality system not able to do it, when I clicked Bex Broadcaster option In query designer, No response.
FYI..I have authorizations as like BW Development system but still problem alive..

Hi,
when you execute braodcaster option from query designer by default it will go to Web portal. You have to check you EP team whether it is configured with QA and you have to give URL for your portal in transaction RSPOR_CUST01.

How many e-mails can i send through Bex Broadcaster?

Dear Experts
I would like to know to how many e-mail address i can send a query through "broadcast e-mail" function with BEx Broadcaster. In other words, what's the maximum number allowed of recipients?

have the same content? i.e., If I download a few songs to an iPhone and then sync with iTunes, will itunes then sync that new content to any other devices that I sync with my copy of iTunes, therefore all devices will always attempt to have the same content?
Depends. If all devices are set for automatic synchronization and they all have sufficient capacity to hold your entire iTunes library, then all devices will have identical content and will continue to do so whenever you add new content. If you're using manual synchronization and/or your entire library won't fit on one or more of the devices, then of course whether or not the devices have identical content will depend on you.
3. How does this affect store purchases? Can I sync multiple devices to the same copy of iTunes and how many times can I sync the purchased iTunes store content to devices? I know it's 5 computers, but what about devices?

4. Lastly, can a device such as an iPhone be synced to more than 1 computer/iTunes? Can I sync my iPhone to my own copy of iTunes and then sync again to someone elses and will this then sync new content to all associated computers and synced devices on those computers? Unless things have changed, an iPhone can only be synched to a single copy of iTunes. iPods other than the shuffle can be synched to multiple systems by setting to manual sync.

BEx Broadcaster --HTML error

Hello All...
I am having many issues with BEx Broadcaster when it comes to scheduling. Thought someone may be able to give me some advice here.
Ok, so I am scheduling about 20 web templates to output into PDF and be broadcasted over to the portal inbox of the user. Its working in many cases...however several are giving me errors. The errors seem to be found in rsrd_admin when I go to
'display logs'. The error sort of looks like this.

Alerts to email when Bex Broadcaster Failed

Hi Experts,
Currently we are broadcasting Business KPI reports to the users from SAP BI at a scheduled time.
These broadcast settings are based on webtemplate. Some times the broadcast setting which is scheduled will fail due to the most frequest errors like " Error while generating HTML" etc.
The issue is only temporary basis, next time the same error will not come and the issue is not reproducable.So is there a way we can configure the alerts to emails when the bex broadcast setting is failed.
Transaction to see logs of broadcast settings is RSRD_LOG.

3 possible solutions that come to mind:
1. Write custom ABAP program that checks RSR_PREC_SETT table and sends email when report failed entry is made, and schedule program to run periodically
2. Create process chain that kick off Broadcaster report and would also notify if report has failed.
3. You can also schedule RSR_PREC_SETTINGS_RESTART with Current date variant to run periodically and this job will restart any failed broadcaster reports from that day (stored in table RSR_PREC_SETT)

Can someone tell me the process of creating new text variants which can be used in the subject and content fields in the bex broadcaster Wizard. I can see some standard text variants there but need to create my own.
