URL generator change...portal doesn't start
Hi,
I've changed the property HOST on my urlgenerator service and after restart the portal doesn't go up.
Before restart I've also generate a new index on the TREX server but I don't think it could be the problem.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the host parameter on a property file or in visual admin?
Thanks a lot
Massimiliano
Actually, now I have an additional question. As we have used the Datasource Configuration File and not the Configtool (so that we can configure two domains), how would this look like?
<ume.ldap.access.server_name>p22222</ume.ldap.access.server_name>
Do I just add the fallback server like >p22222,pfallback<?
As we have also configured Kerberos for SSO, I would assume that I can leave this configuration as it is, with just the main LDAP servers. Which means that SSO is not working if the main server is down, but the users could still log in using the userid, password and get authenticated against the fallback LDAP server. Is this assumption correct?
Thanks,
Ingrid

Production Portal is not starting...
Hello All,
I have a very serious problem with my production portal. Every after 2-3 days, the portal doesn't start properlly in the morning, It shows page can not be displayed. The only thing we can do for this is to restart the server.
Can somebody please tell me what could be the problem and how to resolve this issue permanently. Also tell me where do I check for the logs that had generated at the time this issue happened.
We are not using much roles and iviews. We just have 5-6 webdynpro applications which are running on our portal.
We are on EP 7.00 SP9 and we use hostname and not the IP address to access portal.Hi Vaishali,
I have checked the Default Log file and found some error messages. Can somebody please check and tell me the reason of portal misbehaviour.

How Sap SDN do it? - navigation change Portal URL
Hi:
If you check SDN home page you´ll see that almost every link changes the url site but the content is display in content area ( do not change the page completly). I was wondering how that could be done as my EP has always the same URL.
I checked:
URL Generator Service
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7d/236cfa17034a37a439dc392ec59eb0/frameset.htm
Portal URL Aliases
Portal navigation
and ECPM stuff
I´m not quite sure if there´s a configuration at Visual admin/Portal that enables this behavior.
Thanks a lot for your time on this thread.
Rocío.We can also create a unique url for every page or iview.
There is a property called Quick Link which exists for every page/iview
Let us say open a page as object and set the Quick Link property as 'abc'
Then you can access that page directly from the url // http://<yourhostname>:<portno>/irj/portal/abc
hope it helps you to some extent.

Help: Pointbase db doesn't start when launching SP4 portal
Hi,
I downloaded WL platform SP4 today and installed (before the installation I uninstalled SP2)in my laptop. When I launch the examples portal, the pointbase db doesn't start. I tried both SP2 and SP3 in my laptop and both worked. The error messages below are directly copied from the console. My understanding is the portal server startup will automatically start pointbase db (I didn't do any configuration yet). Anybody know the problem and solution?
My laptop config:
Win XP, SP2, 1.6 GHz, 1GB memory
I am the admin user.
Thanks a lot!!

Sometimes solving these types of problems where it should work, this works everywhere else, so what could be wrong here... Let me suggest that you install a new domain using a new root directory. IE c:\bea814 and not reuse c:\bea.
I'm guessing that an essential script or property file was not overwritten by the 814 install.
JBTW, 814 pointbase is a new version and is run on a new port from prior 8.x versions, the new port is 9093, where prior versions was 9092.
A diag. is after you start via, startWebLogic.cmd, to open a DOS window and run this command:
netstat -an
Look for a LISTEN on port 9093
This would confirm that 814's pointbase is started and there's a configuration issue with the connection pools.
Good luck, curt -

so anyone tell me what permissions I have gotten wrong & how can I get mysql to work again?
Last edited by cool (2012-12-02 18:26:18)1. You have to start mysqld as root using either sudo or from your root account
2. The safest way to start mysql is using the unit file (systemd) or service file (rc.d) -- e.g. 'sudo systemctl mysqld start'
3. My /var/lib/mysql directory has the following permissions 700 and owner/group is mysql/mysql. With those permissions, you're not going to be able to view the contents of the directory unless you are root or that user.

I updated iTunes to 10.4 version and now it doesn't start and send a messages "iTunes has detected an error and must be closed". Someone have the same problem and how can we repair our installation insted of change the windows XP installation? Best regards
Only way to get iMac starting again was to re-install 10.4.4 from DVD, and then update it into 10.4.6. For a while it worked perfectly, just as before.
Then I tried to print to CD with my EPSON Stylus Photo 950 from Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0). It didn't print anything, but printer started flashing all lights. The print job was not performed, so I did remove it from the Printer Utility. After that the iMac started "ticking" again, same noise than before, after 10.4.7 installation. I did re-boot iMac. It never started, it does stuck on gray screen (gray block running clockwise). HW test from DVD didn't find any problems (extended search looping 3 times). But Disk Utility found hard drive to have inaccurate node structure, it could not fix it.
Apple support recommended to use DiskWarrior. However, it does not support (yet) Intel Macs. I haven't got TechTool Pro 4.5.1 anywhere. iMac does start on to FireWire mode (T at boot), but I cannot see the disk from 10.2.8 iMac.
So, obvisously the problem is not 10.4.7. I believe it to be ESPON printer driver compatibility on Mac OSX. This does not suprise me, EPSON printers *****, I shall never purchase one again. However, disk catalog structure should not get messed by one faulty printer driver! -
Hello,
when I try to change the protocoll in "Host" in the "URL Generator Services" (under "Global Services") from http to https, the TREX monitor shows an SSL error by crawling new documents (but then the links in email notifications are working correctly with the right URLs with https). Because the TREX is behind some firewalls I do not want to configure any additional SSL connection, only the portal plattform runs on SSL.
Is it possible to edit the links in email notification without changing the host parameter and without configuring SSL for TREX? Or are there other possibilities to solve this problem?
Regards,
FrankHi Frank,
there is a solution for your problem:
Just upgrade to SP2 Patch 5 or newer (SP) version. There you are able to create different URLs
for the Backend systems (for example TREX) and for the normaly Portal users using the new parameter Alternative Host under "URL Generator Service".
Under "Host" you will configure "https://..." so that you get the notifications mails with https links, and under "Alternative Host" you configure "http://.." so that TREX will avoid authentication for SSL.
Hope this information was usefull to you,

How to add Friendly URLs in Weblogic Portal?
Hi,
We are developing a portal using Weblogic 10gR3. Right now the URL's that are getting formed are very long which includes the nfpb, nfls, pagelabel e.t.c. The requirement is to have a very user friendly url something like http://www.x.com/portal/<<pageLabel>>
The Weblogic documentation mentions something about URL compression, however unable to apply it for dynamic URL's. We have URL's which are formed on the fly from the WLP Content Repository
Is there some kind of servlet / filter provided within WLP. I read somewhere about an URLTransformationServlet. But there was no documentation on its usage. Can some one share a sample code snippet with me. That would be really really helpful, as we are having a slight time crunch here.
Any kind of help on this will be deeply appreciated. Thanks
Thanks and Regards,

WLProxy configuration falls under the weblogic server product hence you will have to raise an SR with that product to get any suggestions.
Before that I would suggest you play around with the parameter I have suggested and see how it is impacting the url and then if there is any specific area you are stuck on check with the WLS team.
Like I mentioned earlier, I do not know if this will completely meet your business requirement, but something you can look into.

URLCompression servlet is the only option that weblogic portal provides out of the box to compress the URL of WLP. I understand this does not suite your requirement.
The other option I can think of that can possibly help you achieve this is to configure any weblogic proxy plugin that you might be making use of, see the document
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/plugins/plugin_params.html#wp1143055 look for PathTrim, PathPrepend

Hi,
Even thogh after implementing the below changes,still we are not able to get the result. " nfpb parameter is still existing in URL ".
Implementing URL Compression :
To configure a webapp to use url compression, follow these steps:
1. Define the compression servlet in web.xml; for example
<servlet>
<servlet-name>UrlCompressionServlet</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>com.bea.portlet.compression.UrlCompressionServlet
</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>defaultPage</param-name>
<param-value>/index.jsp</param-value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<param-name>errorPage</param-name>
<param-value>/errors/error.jsp</param-value>
</init-param>
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
</servlet>
2. Map the compression pattern; for example:
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>UrlCompressionServlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>wlp.c</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
3. Add the token {url:compression} to the templates for which you want to apply compression.
Please suggest on this ASAP.

I started to use Azure in-role caching and everything works great in Azure compute emulator on my local machine, but not on server. I've already dealed with some problems, like lack of msshrtmi.dll on server, but now can't understand why get this error:
Not running in a hosted service or the Development Fabric.

All I found about this error is that it occurs if you start local Azure compute emulator with in-role caching and without administrative rights. But in emulator everything works fine and problem occurs only after I publish to staging environment. (if switch
to production, error remains).
I use cache for resolving routes like /username and /countryname etc. So available usernames and country names will be cached and updated on changes in database. I have static class with static DataCache object which is created on first request to cache. But
even home page doesn't start so error occurs before I try to create cache object.Hi Jambor, I don't have reference errors. I had them before but already fixed with copy local = true for few references.
I receive error only on azure host service. In local everything works great, app starts, cache works and I can see data in cache. Yes, in local mode cloud project is set as startup and VS runs as administrator.
I've added TraceListener creating code you suggested:
protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
System.Diagnostics.Trace.Listeners.Add(new Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Diagnostics.DiagnosticMonitorTraceListener());
and error code changed a little. But as I see problem is the same but caused when creating TraceListener from Application_Start instead of when initalizing cache:

Any help?
I tried to reinstall dependencies of xorg-server and mesa. And then I even went through with the whole system update which I postponed for a few weeks because of the KDE changes. Sadly even the whole system update didn't help.
Is it possible that any old config files can cause this?
EDIT:
I tried kernel parameter "nouveau.modeset=0" but it didn't help.
Last edited by cro (2015-02-26 16:33:19)Ok, I guess I solved it by reinstalling xf86-video-nouveau.
Funny business! Why did the upgrade to xorg-server 1.17.1 force me to remove it when it is still needed??
And why does that lead to mysterious error messages and segfault??
I discovered it accidentally when I stumbled upon the fact that the package was still installed on my newer x86-64 Arch installation despite being on xorg-server 1.17.1. -
Windows 8.1 doesn't start after update. BLACK SCREEN AFTER LOGIN
Before all, sorry my english, I'm brazilian and don't found the solution on the brazilian version of HP website.
After I did the updates, the system ask to restart the notebook, so I did it. And now, when I do the login, after the password page, the Windows doesn't starts. Just a Black Screen appears.
I can't open the right side window to acces the configurations, and this laptop doesn't have a battery to take out and put in again.
I had already restore the system.
So, I use my laptop to work, and it has only 4 days of use.
I need help! Thanks!Hi,
Run through the following procedure.
Boot the computer normally and log-in.
At the black screen, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.
Select Task Manager.
Click on File and select Run new task.
Type cmd.exe - also enter a tick in the box for 'Create this task with administrative privileges' - and click Ok.
Type in the following command ( including spaces ) and hit enter.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This will take a while to complete, but when it’s finished, restart the notebook.
If the screen is still black after you log-in, once again, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.
Select Task Manager.
Click on File and select Run new task.
Type cmd.exe - also enter a tick in the box for 'Create this task with administrative privileges' - and click Ok.
Type in the following command ( there's a space between sfc and the / ) and hit enter.
Sfc /scannow
When the scan has finished, check that the result is ‘No integrity violations’, then type exit and hit enter.
Restart the notebook again.
Any change?
Regards,
DP-K

Ok, I just try your variant after the recovery will finished (I start recovery with initialization this morning).
Before it I tried to recovery with initialization. Full recovery finished successfull, Database Manager sugest me to restart database or continie log recovery, first log recovery falled with error and stop:

Then I tried to restart database as Database Manager sugest. Next error:

Now I recover one more time and try to restart database without log recovery.
Can I do it via database manager (put "Online")? Or via your command "dbmcli -d <dbsid> -u control,<pw> util_execute clear log"? And how I can perform recover of logs without error?
Best regards, Elena -
