URM Adapter

Hi there,
I've installed the URM Adapter for the first time, I want to Registering an External URM Source so I followed the instructions in the installation guide.
The problem is that I'm a bit confused, I was wondering if someone can shed a light on the bold items below. To register an external source I need:
1. Provider Name: OK I already added the provided the best I could.
2. Source Name: what would this be? can someone give me an example?
3. Source Display Name: I guess anything I want so it's OK
4. Source Table Name: Is this important? what is this table?

URM Adapter for File System issue.

Hi, I am just starting out on using the URM Adapter for File System and I have a few questions about issues I am facing.
1. When I try to create multiple searches and map them to Folders/Retention Categories in URM, it does not work. I am able to map one search via one URM source to one Folder/Retention Category (without my custom attribute from question 1). However in Adapter’s Search Preview I am able to perform a search on the documents successfully. Would different searches require different URM sources in Adapter?
2. Does the adapter work with other Custom Attributes? I have added an attribute in addition and in the same way as "URMCrawlTimeGMT" is added in Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (I created a custom Document Service and Pipeline to add a metadata value) and in the URM Adapter’s config.properties file and when I create a search in Adapter based on the custom attribute, it does not map the documents into URM. I am however able to search the documents in Adapter’s Search Preview window with the custom attribute displaying correctly.
Any help with this topic would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for the response, as to your questions,
1. I am not sure how to enable Records Manager in adapter mode. But I am able to login to the Records Manager web page after starting it up through StartManagedWebLogic.cmd URM_server1.
2. The contents of the file system should be searchable in Records Manager, and should be able to apply retention policies to the documents in the file system, I do not need to have SES, but apparently the adapter needs to have SES as a pre requisite.
Upon further investigation I found that in the AGENT_DATA table the values being inserted were "User ID"(UA_KEY) and NULL(UA_VALUE), so I just made the UA_VALUE column nullable and I was able to pass that step. Is this the wrong approach to fix the issue.
Could you please let me know about enabling Records Manager in adapter mode, I am not able to find documentation online, I have been through the Adapter installation and administration guides. Thank you once again.

Full-Text Search in URM!!!

We have integrated Sharepoint with Oracle URM11g using the Adapter. We want do a full-text content search for the Documents in SharePoint from URM application. The FULLTEXT is search is enablled in URM as well. Please tell me how to do a fulltext content search from URM...

I think there is some misunderstanding. The indexing/search will not be a functionality of URM (adapter), but of SES (adapter). This means there will be two adapters; one for URM, which will make sure that MSSO follows the policies setup by URM, and one for SES, which will index the data for searching.
SES will have to be licensed separately!
(see note of restricted license of SES in WebCenter Content license: Oracle Secure Enterprise Search to be installed and run on the same processor(s) that runs the content management repository and may be used to index and search the local instance of the content management repository. Federation to external servers or other data resources not permitted.)
I am a bit doubtful if URM searches can expose results of federated SES indexes (there is no reason why they should not, but it depends how integration of SES to UCM/URM is written). At worst, you will have to go with SES GUI or customize the solution.

Unregister adapters from URM

Hi,
Does anyone know the correct way to un-register an URM-adapter from URM? I am developing a custom records adapter, and registering it creates a nice new item in URM. But when I alter the registration or want to redo it, I get all these new registrations: the old ones cannot be deleted, or so it seems.
Can someone help me out?

Translate a csv file in UCM to records in URM

If there's a csv file in UCM, can I import the file into URM and save it as records?

The answer is, yes, of course.
You can check in any file to URM and "declare" it as a record.
Another option could be keeping the file in UCM and "record it" in URM via UCM-URM adapter.

Simple Profiles Component Download

URM 11g adapter for File Share

Hi All,
Has anyone tried to setup a URM 11g adapter for File Share/system. I could not get any documentation on this for 11g. There is 10g documentation which I tried but could not proceed much. If someone could point to an admin guide for 11g adapter that would be of great help.

URM: filesystem adapter configuration problem

Hi!
Has somebody been able to configure the URM filesystem adapter on Linux? I have followed all the instructions and try to configure the adapter using the administration tool, but I get stuck when creating the search definition. Page 21, point 10 states: select the search targets from FileSystem Repository Cabinets/Folders. What is this, where do I see that? Whatever I try, I do not get any search targets that I can create equations for. The example has "SrcGrp" and "TestGroup". Where do they come from?
Second, is the only place to configure the folders to be coupled, the URL mappings section in Filesystem configuration? This part is marked optional, but I do not see any other place where I can indicate what directory is to be used.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Is this in the eclipse tooling? There is a known problem with the tooling in that the HA schema was not included, this is fixed in PS5. For now you can work around it by building/deploying the application manually from the command line.

Universal Record Management & UCM Adapter incompatibility?

One of our partners (AL Indigo in South Africa) has hit an issue when they're working with both the UCM adapter and URM as below. I would be interested if anyone has any further ideas on this error. There is a patchset due out for the UCM adapter and we'd like to know if there's a planned fix scheduled.

In working this backward, we found that URM appears to be mutually exclusive with the UCM VCR SPI adapter and will ONLY install on top of 10.1.3.3.3. Can you find out for me whether there's an upcoming patch which will also address this issue?'

Rich,
The issue you are reporting is a UCM software incompatibility issue not a WLP software issue - I would suggest you open a Service Request via support against the UCM product line.
Nothing in the upcoming WLP patches in June/July would address this issue - since it is a UCM issue.

Records Management - Adapter for UCM

Hi there,
I am having troubles understanding how the Records Management Adapter for UCM works:
1. I have installed URM on a separate instance and have defined retention categories there.
2. I installed the Adapter on a UCM instance and pointed it to the URM instance.
3. It copied the categories over BUT
4. Only those categories that allow for non-record items show up in the LifeCycle field as the view of the field does filter out all other categories.
So I have not figured out how I can make a content item a record. It that possible at all. Or does this set up of
- one URM instance and
- a second UCM + Adapter instance
only support lifecycle management?

I am having troubles with the Records Management Adapter for UCM too. Also i am having troubles to defined retention categories and configure the retention schedules too. The documentation is not helping in anything about this troubles. Does anyone knows some better documentations about that?? Thanks a lot!!

UCM & URM Integration

Dear All
I'm setting up an integration between UCM & URM through UCM Adapter, I went through all the steps from defining an outgoing provider, to mapping and synchronization of content and metadata, and all was done successfully.
However, I'm still unable to search for documents that are stored in URM from UCM screen, and vice-verse.
My question is, is this the normal behavior? Is there a way to have the content stored in URM available to users from UCM screen (that is having a unified repository and interface for all documents stored in WebCenter Content)?

We are planning to implement a Records management application.
We would like to understands the following:
benefits of using URM with UCM and leveraging the URM Content adapter to manage content in UCM vs storing content in URM directtly
Is there a document with describes/compares the feature set of these two products. Which feature available in UCM will not be available in URM?Like DIS, sitestudio, using IBR
Please clarify and provide with any reference document that I can use.

Since 11g a "URM-only" server is the same as a "UCM" server, so it will have all its features. The question is, however, whether it make sense to use them.
Benefits of using URM and UCM with the URM Content adapter are mainly "federated records policy" - the URM can serve as a master server for several repositories (UCMs, but also filesystem, or 3rd party repositories such as MS SharePoint or EMC Documentum). If you don't need that, you should probably opt for UCM with URM configured (make sure you have WebCenter Content, and not just WebCenter Content: UCM license!), unless you have some reasons (e.g. performance) for doing otherwise.

Iphoto crashing after using mini-dvi to video adapter

Hi, IPhoto on my Macbook is crashing. I can open it, then as soon as I scroll down it locks up and I have to force quit.
This started happening right after I used a Mini-DVI to Video Adapter cable to hook my macbook up to my TV. The adapter/s-video connection worked and I was able to see the video on the tv. But iphoto immediately locked up the computer when I went to slide show and now it locks every time I open it.
Any ideas?

It means that the issue resides in your existing Library.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Wrong 'mini dvi to video' adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33

I recently bought the M9319 mini dvi - video adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33 to find that the mini dvi on the adapter is a different size to the one on the computer and the adapters supplied with the computer.
I've been doing a bit of research into this and it seems a bit of a grey area. Apple have not made it clear in advertising this product that it is only suitable for the newest 12" Powerbooks and even state that it will work with a 1.33 machine in their following article:

Has anyone had a similar experience, or suggest an alternative product that will work? Did Apple make an older version that works with the 1.33?

Just took the adapter to my local Apple store and they identified it as a mini VGA to video adapter - not what it said on the packaging!
I've noticed a few posts with this problem, so just double check before you leave the store that the packaging matches the product.

DVI is video only so you only need one port... if you were hooking up audio and video you'd need three (1 for video - 2 for the left/right audio channels)
