  • Online American Mac Stores That Ship to Canada

    Hi,
I'm interested in purchasing a Mac Mini. Are there any American online Mac stores that ship to Canada? I want to take advantage of the strong Canadian dollar, and Apple computers are cheaper in the US.
    Thanks for your help!

I changed my apple id, but my ipad does not allow me to change it for Icloud, so I can't  edit my account so I can access Icloud. I was told at Apple store that I could use both Apple ids, but my old one is no longer recognized on the appleid website, so my password for my old apple id won't work.
    Any suggestions?

If you only changed the name of your ID rather than creating a new ID, just go to Settins>iCloud and tap Delete Account then sign back in with the new name.  (Deleting the account from your phone does not delete it from iCloud.  Your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.)
If you created a new ID, you'll have to go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.
You won't lose any photos in your camera roll or photo library.  If you have any photos in your photo stream that are over 30 days old that are not in your camera roll or saved on your computer, be sure to save these to the camera roll before deleting the account.  To do so, open the photo stream album on your iPhone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you need to save to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

Mountain Lion fails to install saying it cannot create the recovery; I had a similar problem with Lion and the Apple Store that helped me resolve it gave me an installable version of Mountain Lion on a flash drive for my inconvenience....is there some trick I am missing or do I need to make an appointment with a genius...

I have the MacIntosh volume and the Boot Camp partition only.  I know that when I installed Lion, I had to go through a whole back-up and recovery of Windows and then re-format the drive.
The tech at the Apple Store had a previous life as a MSCE and was very helpful.  I believe he even said that I should not have htis problem with Mountain Lion which is why they gave me the flash with it onboard.  I was in the process of starting a new job when I went to Lion, so I have waited to do this next and probably last upgrade to this old MBP since I doubt Apple will support this MBP in Maverick.
I do not have another installation, so that is not an option.  I will try to create an external, I have plenty of hard drives around and see if I can get it done that way.  It might take me a week or two to get back to it, but I will comment back upon completion of that effort.  Thanks for your help....Dave Iverson

I bought an iPhone 4s last November from your New York store (IMEI number  ).
It has now malfunctioned (the wi-fi button is grated out and so the wi fi
cannot be switched on).  I have been told by the Polish Apple store that they
would be unable to repair it or replace it as it was bought in the USA.  it is
still within the warranty period.  could you advise me as to the newt steps
please?  Can I send it to you by courier and if so please provide me with the
    relevant details.
I look forward to hearing from you.

could you advise me as to the newt steps please?
Ah, the dangers of trying to save a few bucks. Warranty is only good in the USA for phones purchased in the USA.
    Three options.
    1. Fly to the US, go to an Apple store, and have the phone swapped.
    2. Send the phone to a friend in the US and have them go to the Apple store and have the phone replaced.
    3. Buy a new phone in your home country where the warranty is valid.

  • How Do I Switch My Apple Store from USA to Canada?

    Hello!
I recently got a Mac computer handed down from a family member, and I've been trying to update it. However when I try to download Mavericks, it asks for me to login to my Apple ID and then when I do a pop up comes up saying the ID is for the US store and it's going to transfer me to the US store. I'm in Canada, and now can't purchase anything because my credit card info and address is Canadian, yet I'm stuck in the US Apple store.
How do I go about switching my account to the Canadian store?
    Thank You in advance!
    M

You need to erase the HDD, reinstall the version of OS X that shipped from the factory on the Mac and then set it up as new with your own Apple ID.

  • I was told at the Apple store that I could simply plug in ( electric power) the Airport Express and it would find my wireless network. I hoped to use it as a way to play music from my iphone. I do not use other Apple routers etc,

The Airport Express is not finding my wireless network. I do not have any of the devices listed below. I have a Belkin wireless router. Can I still use Airport Express ( without plugging an ethernet cable into it) ? Any ideas for how to make it find my network ? It is sitting next to the wireless router-so is in range.
If you already have a wireless network in your home and want to extend its range, AirPort Express can help. Just place it in range of your primary base station — an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, or another AirPort Express — and near the area where you want your wireless connection. Launch the easy-to-use AirPort Utility app on your iOS device or Mac, and you’re mere minutes away from long-range Wi-Fi enjoyment.

Hi - you can do what you want to do with AirPlay from your iPhone - but unfortunately it is not as easy as the people in the Apple store told you - your first problem is that you have a non Apple router - you cannot extend a non Apple router wirelessly with the Express - you can only join the network and connect an ethernet device to it - you can however connect via ethernet and have it create a wireless network of its' own - you can set this up from your iPhone or the XP - but this is a complicated setup and would involve many different discussion areas of this forum - therefore I would suggest that you use your 90 days of support and consult directly with Apple to do this - go to this link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

  • HT4137 How can I get my iPod slider to slide? I tried restoring per Apple Store & that did not work.

My iPod touch slider will not slide enough to open. Per Apple Store I restored the iPod, but the slider still does not work properly & will not open iPod.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • I was told at the Apple store that Apple was now offering Pages, numbers and keynote free with the Mavericks download.  I noticed that I got the free when I downloaded the newest operating system on my iPad.  True?  And if so, how do you do it?

I was told at the Apple Store when Mavericks was introduced that Pages, Numbers and Keynote would be offered at no charge with Mavericks.  When I downloaded Mavericks, I could not figure out how to download them without the charges.  When I downloaded the most recent OS to my iPad, I got a prompt to download them.  Can someone tell me how to download them without the charges?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's not correct at all. It is true that Apple is offering Numbers, Keynote and Pages for free, but only for users who have purchased a Mac after October 1st, 2013, and for existing iWork '09 users. If you have not got iWork '09 and you purchased your Mac before October 1st, you need to pay for these apps.
The new iWork version (Numbers, Keynote and Pages) is criticised by its lack of features. Instead, I recommend you to get LibreOffice or, if you need the most complete productivity suite, Office for Mac. Give LibreOffice a try first

  • Help! how to convince apple store that i wasn't the problem!

    Hey ya'll.
okay here's the deal. my mac mini has always been noisy since the day it came home in june. i just thought that it was normal for the fan to run continually (like crappy PCs) until i found out from you lovely people that it's not supposed to be like that.
my husband and i decided to install 2G of RAM thinking it may help the situation. yes, it made the mini much more efficient, but still- the noise persisted. well, we finally took it into the apple store and like idiots, didn't think to switch out the original Apple RAM. they just called me today and said that the Logic Board has to be replaced and because i have "third party software" installed, my warranty won't cover the $600 fix!!!
the guy told me that he even switched in Apple RAM and the fan still persisted. so that's proof that we couldn't have damaged the Logic Board. We are going back tomorrow to try to convince them that we didn't damage it.
Is anyone an expert in the warranty regarding this situation? How can I prove that we aren't the problem? Should I ask them to reinstall the Apple RAM or try taking it to another store?
    I am so disappointed.
    Thanks, LP

okay here's the deal. my mac mini has always been
noisy since the day it came home in june. i just
thought that it was normal for the fan to run
    continually ....
The fan in all Mac minis does run all the time, but usually of course at a relatively slow rate, spinning up to full speed (and noisily at that) only when the CPU is under load and the system temperature begins to rise. If the fan on your system is running at full speed all the time, it could be that the only fault is that the fan control cable is not connected properly - the fan is set to automatically run at high speed if that cable is disconnected (and it is not uncommon for it to be left disconnected when work is done inside the system).
my husband and i decided to install 2G of RAM
thinking it may help the situation. yes, it made the
mini much more efficient, but still- the noise
persisted. well, we finally took it into the apple
store and like idiots, didn't think to switch out the
original Apple RAM. they just called me today and
said that the Logic Board has to be replaced and
because i have "third party software" installed, my
warranty won't cover the $600 fix!!!
The fact the system works with the RAM you put in it means that in itself the RAM is not a problem and could not have damaged the system.
the guy told me that he even switched in Apple RAM
and the fan still persisted. so that's proof that we
couldn't have damaged the Logic Board.
No, not necessarily. If you had caused damage to the logic board, replacing the RAM with the original would not necessarily 'undo' the fault. If, for example, the new RAM had blown a component, that component would not be fixed by taking that memory out and putting the original back.
    We are going
back tomorrow to try to convince them that we didn't
    damage it.
My suggestion would be to first ask to speak to the store manager to seek to resolve the problem and explain that in fact the problem predated any work you did on the system, and indeed that you only added the memory in an attempt to try and resolve it. Furthermore, that since the system works perfectly in every respect other than the fan, it is difficult to see how the RAM could have caused the fault with the fan. If they are not amenable to repairing the system under warranty, ask them to put in writing for you the reason they claim that the failure of the system was due to you in order that there can be no misunderstanding of their position on the matter at a later date, and demand return of your mini, exactly as it was when you took it in.
With it back in your possession, check that the fan control cable is connected properly and if it is, then contact another store or approved service provider and have them look at the system.
Is anyone an expert in the warranty regarding this
    situation?
Sadly the warranty is written in a way that gives Apple a great deal of flexibility in its interpretation, and the only way you could have redress is if you have any enhanced consumer protection laws on which you could base a claim.
How can I prove that we aren't the
    problem?
You can't really prove you weren't responsible, but by asking them to explain in detail and in writing why they think you were responsible, it places the onus on them rather than you. In most such situations, the decision not to repair under warranty is reached by someone who simply doesn't think Apple should have to bear the cost of the replacement part and blaming the user for causing the fault is just the available excuse. By asking for an explanation, and particularly via the store manager, if there is any doubt about exactly how the fault was caused, you may well move the issue sufficiently for them to change their mind on it, and if not, at least you'll have an explanation that may come in useful if you seek redress via Apple customer support or even a lawyer.
Be aware however that since the mini is not designed to be opened by users and has no user serviceable parts, Apple are on fairly solid ground in most instances where they deny warranty claims under these circumstances. It's a judgement call which like any other can go either way, but if your mini showed any signs internally of anything wrong, not just the replaced RAM, it may be very hard to convince the store, or any other service provider, that it wasn't your fault. Particularly since if the fan noise was so loud that you sought to resolve it by adding RAM, it would be reasonable to have expected you to have Apple check the system and repair it instead - the implication being that perhaps the fault actually didn't exist before the RAM upgrade. You might, very delicately and non-confrontationally, work the conversation round with the store manager to the point where you can ask him if he thinks you're a liar when you tell him the problem pre-existed the memory upgrade - if he doesn't want to call you a liar, he'll have to admit the possibility the problem was there from new, in which case even if he frowns on the RAM upgrade, he'd have to accept it is a warranty repair after all.

  • Can't even the apple store that i bought iPhone 4 from downgrade the ios from 7 to 6

please help , there is no apple store in my countey ,but I'm coming to chigago in two weeks and hope to find a solution for this awful ios 7

Better learn how to work around its quirks and learn to tolerate it. It is a losing battle to go back to 6. Not only is is legally impossible, the vast amount of sold new devices with it and the downloads thus far make it unfeasible. And as time progresses, more and more apps will be iOS-7-only.
