US E71 in the UK

Hi,
I bought an E71 in the US whilst on holiday last year and I've now lost the charger that came with it. Can I buy a UK charger for use with the phone or will this damage it?

E71 - Browsing The Internet

Hello,
I always have this problem when I try to access my hotmail using WLAN on E71. The browser will always prompt me with "Cookies must be allowed to browse this site", even though I have allowed Cookies... This is just one of the sites that I have difficulty accessing, among the rest are facebook, etc...
Does anyone has the same problem with this?

Last week I bought the E71 in The Hague. Super. Quite easy to use. But...
I have this same problem that I cannot log on to some websites. Reddit.com works. But the admin section of my Django website doesn't (http://www.lijst.com/). It states: cookies must be allowed.
Probably these sites are too restrictive. Strange. When I find out the solution I will post it here.

Downloading email on E71 crashs the message applic...

I am facing a problem since updating the firmware of E71 which is simply causing the message application to close (crash) after donwloading the emails. the crash cause the shortcut button of the email on the phone panel not to work and I have to open the email through opening the sms and keep moving to the email folder.
another associated problem (but not sure if they are related) of not recieving an notification of SMS on home screen when recieving new SMS while hearing the audio alert.
this issue started with the previous firmware update while the latest (which I have updated yesterday) didn't sort it out.
I appreciate if anyone can help how to sort it out.

It seems to be months since this prblem is around and it really makes traveling and using the email function a problem especially with large attachements.
Can Nokia pleeeease look into this

How to disconnect Nokia E71 from the PC?

Hello everybody,
Finally it seems that my E71 works fine, but one last problem remains: when I try to disconnect the USB cable (PC suite mode)from the pc safely, it gives me the error: the device "nokia Et1 USB LCIF" cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it.
What is the proper way to disconnect the phone?
If I disconnect the phone anyway, can it provoke problems later?

i just had exactly the same problem with my e71. when i installed the pc suite and then connected my phone, windows said it didnt install the phone properly. so i opened my hardware device manager and uninstalled E71 under mobile devices i think. then i uninstalled pc suite wich was 6.86 and downloaded the latest version 7.1 and installed that. once i reinstalled pc suite i restarted my computer like it asked and then connected my phone when it asked. it installed it alot better this time and now it works just fine.
before i reinstalled pc suite, when i connected the phone the computer would not distinguish between pc suite mode and mass storage mode. since i reinstalled pc suite it can tell the difference and so i when i am in mass storage mode i just left click the safely remove hardware and stop it. in pc suite mode just shut down pc suite and unplug as it wont harm your memory card.

ive E71 and for some reason am not able to upadte it via pc i can update it from wlan please temme how i can upadte it using wlan or whatever its called over the air??

Can I dial a number on my E71 from the PC via PC S...

Hello!
The small buttons on the E71 make it dificult to dial a number. Is it possible to dial the number directly from the computer via PC Suite? Since PC Suite is opening a window on an incoming call, it should be possible to make an outgoing call.
I did not find anything

Is there a seperate software nessecary?

I am really wondering that I seem to be the only one who has the wish to call numbers directly from Outlook/any other application via his mobile. Since not everybody has a TAPI connection to the telephone system and a headset for the telephone system it would make life so much easier....
Anyway in between I got the hint to try out a software called gnokii (http://www.gnokii.org/). Just from reading this seems to work. I will try it out but appreciate any further hints.
The software "Bluetooth PC Dialer v2.0" from www.bluetoothshareware.com at least does enable the copy paste and dialing via bluetooth (as the name indicates). Not a perfect solution but at least a solution.

I have been looking on the internet but I cant find the answer. I am looking to replace my 3G iPhone and I really like the E71. So before I go and spend $400+ I do have a question about the email functions on E71.
Will I be able to set up .Mac account on my E71. Can I have more than one account on and will my email be PUSH mail?

I have a .Mac account (now Mobileme) and the answer is yes - however, the best solution is to create a Nokia email account at https://email.nokia.com/account/home.action
This is not a new email address - but rather lets you setup 6 email addresses - including Mobileme (Mac) and have them all "pushed" to the E71. It will not currently work however with Hotmail. I currently have Gmail & my Mac account "pushed" through this free service and it works fine.
You will be sent a link once subscribed to install the required software on the E71 and then off you go - easy and a simple solution.

E71 locking the memory card?!

I think I found a bug: I activated the remote lock optio (you send a SMS when a predifined lock message in case your phone gets stollen, nice feature, btw), after that my battery went dead, upon powering up the phone I got a prompt "enter passwod to unblock memory card" (or something similar). Just when i was about to format the card (in different forums it says it´s the only option to unblock the card) I found a post from a user that had a similar proble AFTER activiting the remote lock option. He suggested trying the same password as for the remote lock message. I did and it worked.
A have a question for Nokia: is that supposed to be like this? I don´t think so...

E71 Using Nokia Suite to connect to the internet

This may be a Nokia Suite problem but the first time I add my E71, via Bluetooth, to Nokia Suite I can use the phone to connect to the internet successfully.
After I shut my PC down and reboot the connection will not work, Nokia Suite tells be that it "Cannot establish a network connection".
The cure is that every time I wish to use I have to remove the phone from Nokia Suite then add it in again.
This is a laborious process and should be totally unnecessary.
I'm using Windows 7, the laciest version of Nokia Suite, have the latest software on my E71 & all the latest drivers, Bluetooth etc, installed.
In functional terms it seems after that initial use something is not getting 'released' or 'reset' properly.
Nokia please help me why your software is not working.

Cud u pls chck, if u hav enabled proxy settings on ur pc, if yes, make sure that Internet Explorer as ur default browser n then chck, if it works.

The PHOTO GALLERY and AUDIO GALLERY on my E71 do n...

I cannot access any photos or audio files (ringtones. etc) on my E71. The photo gallery will not open... it just keeps that moving band across the bottom of the screen going .. same for audio files.
I have not upgraded firmware.
How do I fix this?

Hi all, I also experience a similar problem with opening image gallery & audio files, I later discovered the cause was probably the new 16GB HDSC memory card I have recently installed.
I thought I had to format the card to resolve the issue but after removing the memory card & restarting the phone & even reformating the device, finally it rectified the fault. Are your photos & music files stored on the memory card I assume? Have you recently install a SDHC card?

Are you able to send and recieve MMS messages?
If not it sounds like you packet data and MMS settings are not present in the handset
Who is your network provider?
If the settings are not in your handset you will be best directed at your network operators website, to obtain the settings. There used to be a WGSglobal settings service from Nokia on the Nokia support site but it is no longer available, most operators now link to their own version, and its the operators settings that you need, so go to their site and search for "Get settings" or such like
Examples:
Orange UK http://help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/support/selfservice/index.jsp
O2 UK http://getsettings.o2.co.uk/ServeSettingsWebApp/
Vodafone UK http://preview.tinyurl.com/cxdlwd
From those pages you can get the settings for those providers you will need to find your operators version.
Have you an unlocked SIM free Generic E71?
The phone should detect the SIM - try running the settings wizard in the handset to provision these.

I am using 7.1.51.0 Nokia PC Suite on Windows 7. I have Nokia e71-2. I have latest software on device (410.21.010) using Nokia ovi Suite (2.2.0.245).
Under Device manager->Bluetooth Radios, I have following Drivers versions installed:
Micorsoft Bluetooth Enumerator from Microsoft: 6.1.7600.16385
HP Integerated module with Bluetooth Wireless 2.1Technology from Broadcom: 6.2.0.9000
Using PC Suite when I try to connect to bluetooth, it supplies the pairing code. I hit OK and then enter the pairing code on e71. The pairing seems successsful and I can see my "tjsingh-mobl" laptop on e71 under Menu->Connectivity->Bluetooth->"Paired Devices". I set it as authorized device. However after some time PC Suite tells me that "Cannot authenticate the phone".
I have searched the forum and have failed to find any solution.
I tried the following also but didn't help. There is no "Service Controllers" app on my e71.
Menu > Applications > App. mgr. > Installed apps. > uninstall 'Service Controllers' and 'Contacts Groups DS Plugin' applications.

I had this problem too, but the phone got recognized at last after the latest OVI Suite upgrade. Somehow it must have installed some drivers which allowed win7 to recognize and autenticate the phone

Is the current E71 software a "beta" release?

There seems to be many product codes not covered in the current software release. We, the public at large, do not know how many product codes cover any one phone and do not know how many code are in the current release.
Are Nokia just releasing a few product codes to 'test the water' and see what further errors are reported with the release?

It would seem that the latest software update has been released to the Asia Pacific Regional codes first.
I'm not sure if this is some kind of policy, there is probably a good reasom such as a lesser or greater uptake in that region or a serious compatibilty issue in that region with the network operators.
I have checked a lot of euro codes and none of them are on the updater.
The software is a full release, it is on the news page.
Out of all the phones I have the E71 seems the most perfect one that I have used. Ok there are a a few niggles, but I dont see any of the problems that a lot of people here are complaining about bar one (the signal)
Perhaps I am more tolerant (and I paid full price for mine not that it qualifies me much )

“Error while downloading” message on E71 with updated GPS USA Maps
I’m sure I’m not the only one having this problem but I recently updated my maps on my Straight Talk Nokia E71. The phone says I have map download V 3.03 10wk bo4 Mw Open GL LM MN, Map version 0.1.25.114.and I’m using Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23. After I installed V3.03, I installed it and download the 1.46GB USA map file and the three turn by turn files. But when I first started the GPS app I started getting the following error “Error while downloading”(This is on phone only)
I have tried to factory reset the phone, re-format the 8GB memory card, remove City data and GF files and even unloaded OVI Suite and reload it. But every time I select GPS app and start to find places or my position, I get "Error while downloading" message. I’m new to this phone and didn’t get a respectable book from Straight Talk. So I don’t know much about this phone or Nokia OS. What is this error and how do I fix it. Also when I try to sync from the phone I get the response "system error". Ovi suite on the PC says I have downloaded all the USA maps and English voice with street names. Please help I’m at a lost.
Computer specs
I am running Win-Vista, with a Broadband connection. 3 GB Ram, 2 gig Pentium dual core.
Tran’s flash card has plenty room left on card over 5 gigs left.
If I need to delete a file on the phone please tell me the exact file name because I’m not sure which one to remove from the apps folder.

Welcome to the forum!
Whilst easy for me to say as keep very little data on device, I would suggest backup essential data then delete E:\cities + ,qf file followed by resetting device to "Out of box" state by keying in #7370# then 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself). At this point you would need to open OVI Maps application on device to re-initialise application and re-define necessary folder structure on memory card for device to be recognised by OVI Suite > Maps to re-download your regional mapping.

E71 Firmware Update Fixes

Just wanted some input in regards to what issues need to be resolved within the first update, excluding the RF reception, I think we all want that fixed ASAP...
I have never heard of reception issues being fixed from a firmware issue, but maybe they could do something within the OS that would hold the dual mode signal better.
Any ideas or thoughts on what the E71 needs to make it almost perfect?

Guys, how about consider dropping your E71s to the trashbin, and switch to devices like N95, N82 etc.? E71 was NEVER designed to be a multimedia-monster, hence it would NEVER make you happy in that area. Take it or leave it, that's life. And please stop putting here all those silly requests, as I believe this thread is about firmware *bugfixes*, not a feature wishlist (which would never be implemented anyway). I'm way more concerned about correct IMAP support (one of the core features of E71, btw), than camera quality which I'm never bothered about anyway. If I was bothered about camera quality, I'd get myself N95 or SE K850i, or anything like this. I advise you guys the same.
isnt improper color rendering is a bug that needs to get fixed? i think that even a email/business phone should try to capture the images it takes with some semblance of accuracy. a TV out is usefull for presentations too.
