US ipad for use in Singapore - which carrier?

Someone is buying the new ipad (ipad with retina display) for me in the US. I live in Singapore.
Which version should I ask them to buy - AT&T or Verizon? Why?

A simple decision
If you have a GSM network in Peru ( ie all iPhones work there) you should consider the AT&T model which is GSM technology and is not carrier locked and will work
The verizon model works only on CDMA technology which is mainly in the USA with a few other countries , S.Korea and the Ukraine for instance
Establish Peru is a GSM wireless Country and The AT&T model will be fine
I se you have two Apple suppliers
Claro
and TM SAC
so I am sure you have GSM wireless

As far as i know service provider is not a constraint for i pad as ipads are always unlocked. Also, do we need to get nano sim from US or India srvice provider will have it? i am asking this as in Singapore iPads are offering 3 free nano sim cards.

There is no CDMA in Europe or UK if that influences you, only GSM
All the UK Carriers offer Data nano sims ,on contract or PAYG
and this will help on 4G

and be aware the warranty is now not international

My ipad2 was recently stolen.  I have since purchased an iphone4.  Is there a way to retreive the apps that I had on my ipad for use on my iphone or on a new ipad if purchased?
    Thx.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
All ipad apps are not neccessarily compatible with iphone.  There are some universal apps.

Depending on exactly what you want to do, there are a couple of ways of handling this. You may want to access teh user guide for some ideas: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf
In particular, check the sections on Customizing iPad and Settings > Restrictions.

  • I would like to buy am Ipad for my nephew. Which one is better to play games, ipad or ipad mini

I would like to buy an ipad for my nephew. Which one is better, ipad or ipad mini? He wants to play games, and put lots of app.

Probably the full iPad, because it has a better graphics card. The larger screen helps too.

I Recommend the iPad Mini Retina, it's not to big, and not to small. It has the speed of the iPad Air due to it having the same 64 Bit chips. ( And it's a lot cheaper!!) I have one myself and it's perfect for my school work!

  • How can I set up iPad for use as a customer sales tool?

I want to use my new iPad for personal and business. For my business I want to hand to a customer as a self-driven presentation on my business created In Keynote or some similar program. But I'd like to lock all personal content so the customer can only explore my business content and not access personal contacts, music, etc. Can this be done? Recommendations on apps and set-up are appreciated.

Can't be done. All the customer has to do is press the home button and they're able to access all your apps.
You either need different iPads for different purposes, or mount it in a display cabinet that blocks the home button.

  • I am new to iTunes. How do I transfer files of Powerpoint slides into iTunes from PC and then into my iPad for use at a meeting

I am new to iTunes and the iOS in general, having just migrated from Android devices. Please advise as to how I can easily transfer files of Powerpoint slides in documents on my PC into iTunes, so that I can use Adobe or other app to get them into my iPAD to be able to use them at a conference. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I have had an iTunes account for a while, but never really taken the time to learn to use it.  Now I have two computers, with two different versions of iTunes, with content on one that I want to transfer to the other.  Or I'd like to directly access the older libarary from the new computer.
There are a number of ways you might achieve this. The following article(s) may help you.
Moving your iTunes library to a new computer
Alternatively you might just use home sharing to share the libraries.
Plus I have some videos and audio CD's that I have never imported, and would like to bring them into iTunes and store on an external hard drive to keep from loading up my computer.  I have no idea how to accomplish all of this, and cannot find clear instructions on the website.  Is there a screen where I can access written step-by-step instructions?  I don't have the time or patience to play around and do it by trail and error.  Thanks.
If you place a CD into the CD drive, iTunes will ask you if you want to import it.
If you want iTunes to store content on an external drive, you need to tell it to do so, which you do at iTunes preferences > Advanced.

  • HT3529 How can I get dictation for my iPad for use with email and messaging

How can I get dictation to use with messaging and email?

Apple's dictation requires Siri, which requires a 3rd or 4th generation iPad (or iPad Mini).  See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5457
Your post says you have a second generation iPad, so it will not have dictation.
There are third party apps available that might help you.

  • Securing ipad for use in public

I want to donate the use of our ipad1 to a small thrift store which I help to run.  I need a way to ensure that no one walks off with it.  Any good ideas?

You could try something similar to this:
    http://www.anchorpad.com/products/plate-systems/ipad-plate-system
Basically encases it in a metal shield which is then anchored to a table or other such location. Not sure how you intend to use the iPad, whether you need it to be mobile or what not, but this is merely one solution.

  • Planning trip to europe where internet access may not be available.  How to store pdf files on iPad for use when internet not available?

can content (ie: rail system map in Ireland) found on internet be saved on ipad and retrieved when internet not available?

I use iBooks to store and organize my PDFs. You can get iBooks free from the App Store.
If your are viewing a PDF in Safari you can tap the PDF and get the option to "Open in iBooks." once you open the PDF in iBooks you can create different collections and store related items together.
Besides getting PDFs from Fari you can receive them in emails. Tap to get the open in iBooks choice.
If the PDFs are on the computer you normally sync with you can copy them into the Book section of iTunes on your computer so that the next time you sync they will be copied to your iPad. Once on your iPad you can move them into Collections that you might have created.

  • Any tips for adding a pdf to an iPad for use as wallpaper?

I have a version 4 iPad. I want to put up a schedulke of an event I will be attending as the lock screen wallpaper. I have the schedule as a pdf. I have converted this to a jpg at 'best' quality and added it to the photo roll. But when I select this as the wallpaper it is pretty hard to read.
Is there a better way? Or are the certain size/resolution specifications that will work better.
    Any advice is most welcome.

If you turn ON "Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion" this might work better. This turns off the parallax effect.

  • Can't use iPad for testing app

When I tried to run an app under development on my iPad 1, I get a message "a valid provisioning profile for this exectable was not found."
Under General > Profiles > the Develop App Games and Developer Provisioning are both green ticked as Verified.
So I can't use my iPad for testing the app, which was no problem when I was running OS Lion with XCode 4.2.
I'm now using Xcode 4.6 on Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
What could be the problem? Thank you.

Currently only a few Apps support casting to Chromecast.  There is no mirroring support if that is what you are after.
Apps include Youtube, Google Chrome etc...

  • Macbook Air and iPad for College/ General Use?

Hi all, I've recently gotten a tax rebate to the tune of £1500 pounds and since I'm returning to college in September I'd like to purchase a MacBook Air in order to have a way to take down notes in a far more efficient form. I currently own a 2010 iMac so I can used that for storage and entertainment meaning the MacBook doesn't need to be anything special in terms of performance.
I currently have two options that I'm interested in, buy an 11 inch MacBook Air (Don't need the 13 if I'm honest) and I'll have enough money to buy an iPad (for use as a Filofax/ E-Reader/ something to prat about on).
OR I could sink the money into a MacBook Pro (putting extra to it of course) and get more performance.
Or maybe there's a third option that I've missed? Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Seriously, look at the specs and price...
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopmac/family/macbookair?afid=p219%7CGOUS&cid=OAS-US-KWG-CPUMacBookAir-US
    Then compare... for example...
    http://www.shopping.hp.com/notebooks
    Or try dell.
    http://www.dell.com/us/p/popular-laptop-deals?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ST=cheap%20l aptop&dgc=ST&cid=35911&lid=894403&acd=52183,8,0,100035970,763349761,1296893920,, 11758726,5701123461&redirect=1
Then ask yourself that question again.
You should be able to get a 6-9 cell quad core with 4-8gigs ram and a 64 bit OS for 1/3 the price of the core duo 2gig air. 9 cell battery is where your cost goes up, it's the difference between 9 hours (6 cell) and 13 hours (9 cell) of battery life.
But a quad core 4 gig 6 cell 64bit OS laptop will run you about $499 -$699. And it will bury the $1600 air 500 feet in the ground without breaking a sweat, all while watching p0rn, playing call of duty and streaming netflix as it digs the hole.
I guess the real question is, do you want to buy a computer to make a fashion statement, or do you want to buy a computer to use as a computer?
