US iPhone5 to be used in UK

I searched to the forum and didn't find the exact answer to my quesiton (s), though I did find similar questions, so apologies if this has been asked before.
I will be studying in the UK for four years, and then likely living over there afterwards. In a few weeks I will be purchasing an unlocked iPhone 5 from an Apple store here in the US and will then be leaving for the UK in September. The reason that I am purchasing the phone in the US is that I will not have a bank account right away and can only take a certain amount of money into the country; it is easier for me to purchase a phone in the US (and faster).
So, once I have my unlocked iPhone 5, what steps do I take to use it in the UK? Am I correct that I need a sim card? If I purchase a sim card for UK use, will my phone work in the UK for texting, internet browsing, etc.? Thank you for help.
Also, I have a US iTunes account; can I continue to use this in the UK, as I have a valid US bank account and address. And, once I start up my UK bank account and have my student residence, can I also use the UK iTunes store? Once again, thanks for any help

Yes, you will need to purchase a sim card in the UK to be able to use your iPhone, but there are lots of phone companies that sell them - 02, Vodafone, 3, EE, Orange, T-Mobile and Tesco Mobile. They should all do sim only deals.
There are 2 problems that you will have for sure though and one is the warranty if you purchase your phone in the US. iPhone warranty is NOT international, so if you purchase in the US, your warranty is only valid for the US, so if anything goes wrong with your phone in the UK, then you will have a problem that stores may refuse to help you or can't help you because your phone was purchased in the US and you will need to send it back there to a friend or relative who can then get it repaired for you.
Also, if you purchase an iPhone 5, you have the problem of LTE/4G compatibility, that although your phone will work in the UK, you won't get 4G because the networks are different in the US and UK, so if you want to use 4G, then you'll have to buy a phone in the UK.
What I would say to you is that if you are coming to the UK in September and are going to be staying here for a 4 year period, then wait until you get to the UK in September and go to an Apple store in the UK and buy an iPhone from there. It will save you no end of problems rather than buying one in the US and then finding that you have no warranty cover and no access to 4G.
Wait until September and purchase an unlocked iPhone from a UK Apple store.

Hi - you can do what you want to do with AirPlay from your iPhone - but unfortunately it is not as easy as the people in the Apple store told you - your first problem is that you have a non Apple router - you cannot extend a non Apple router wirelessly with the Express - you can only join the network and connect an ethernet device to it - you can however connect via ethernet and have it create a wireless network of its' own - you can set this up from your iPhone or the XP - but this is a complicated setup and would involve many different discussion areas of this forum - therefore I would suggest that you use your 90 days of support and consult directly with Apple to do this - go to this link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

Unfortunately, unless you know the Apple ID, there is absolutely nothing that can be done, you cannot use your mobile device. You may be able to find your Apple ID at Look up your old and forgotten Apple ID

My iphone5 get hot using skype on 3G network

i have a problem with my iphone5. when i use skype,viber or fring using 3G or LTE network then my iphone5 become hot from back.
then i disconnect from 3G and connect with wifi and again i use skype, viber and fring. then its normal, not becoming hot
please reply me and guide me how to resolve this problem . i am too much worried about it.

That is because the transmitter for 3G or LTE uses more power and gets hotter. The wifi transmitter doesn't because wifi is a local area network and usually is only about 50-100 feet away from the receiver. Cellular data towers are usually miles away from your phone and in order for it to maintain the connection it has to turn up the power on the radio which causes heat. When using a data intensive mode such as facetime or skype it will become hotter not only from the radio but from the processor too so it heats up even more.

As the attached article shows, AirPlay Mirroring requires an iMac to be from mid-2011 or newer.
You should be able to use AirPlay to send music (but not video or pictures) from your iMac to speakers.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

I get erratic behaviour from my iphone5 if I use it while it is charging and being used as a hotspot.

as per the header... right this minute I'm tethered to my iphone5 and sitting on a laptop working. the totally unlimited 3g is more than enough for my home use and has been for the past 3 years. I upgraded to the 5 in febuary and this issue became apparent very quickly, after an update the issue went away a couple of weeks later the issue seemed resolved, it has recently returned after update 6.1.3. I won't install 6.1.4 until I get into the office on monday but it looks like the update doesn't addres the issue...
if I reply to a text or wish to write an email etc, after punching a few charcters in, it switched to the hotspot page in settings, I go back into messages and it repeats, over and over until I calmy subdue my rage and unplug the phone from the mains cable, at which point the phone works perfectly again... the screen seems to randomly decide whatI've just pressed.. if in settings for example, I press 'general', only to have the bluetooth page open - repeatedly unless I press and hold the key firmly for a period of a couple of seconds.
does anyone else have these issues? it only happens when the phone is running as a hotspot (laptop usually tethered to it) and plugged into the mains cable or pc, it never happens when unplugged - the issue is apparent whether on the 3m or 1m cable.

It could very well be some type of interference when using it on wifi, since you say it seems to work correctly when you disconnect from the mains and when you have the phone plugged directly into the laptop. I don't use tethering that much, but this support document is for hotspot requirements http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3574 and this one is for troubleshooting the hotspot http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756. See if either of them provide you with any further information. I wouldn't know what to do next.

You should post in the Skype forums. However I would presume that Skype needs a WiFi network not a 3GS network to function.
