US Ipod, UK Warrenty

My friend got someone to bring him back a shuffle from America to him in the uk because its much cheaper. However, his earphones are knarked, and, since there covered by the warranty, he should be able to get them replaced/fixed right?
Does it matter that it was bought in the us and would be used with the uk warranty???

I have almost the same question too. What if I bought my Ipod mini in Singapore, but Im now located in Shanghai. Is the warranty still valid here? My battery does not work and periodically, its freezes despite following the instructions of the service guide of the apple website. Also, if I have lost my warrant card but still have all other contents of the packaging (eg. box and all) will my mini still be valid for warranty? Thank you so much for your help.

  • Ipod 4 warrenty and trade in.

My ipod 4 warrenty is almost up, can I trade in for a Ipod 5 for less money?

You can also trade-in with outside sites to get cash towards an iPod 5. NextWorth is a great trade-in option that offers competitive prices for your new and gently used electronics. Visit http://nextworth.com/ and simply enter your device into the price calculator to see how much its worth.
Also, they are running an iPad mini promotion now. Enter the promo code "MINI" at checkout to receive a 10% bonus value on all iPod and iPad trade-ins... no matter the condition of the device.

  • Ipod touch warrenty

    HI,
I bought a ipod touch 3rd generation 8GB around January and got it a 2 year replacement plan. And it had the one year plan on it before that.
I was just wondering if this would cover echanging it in for a newer 4th generation one? Or maybe if it gives the $200 I paid for it back towards the new one and me just pay the extra $25 to get the 4th Gen.? I am almost 100% sure that it doesn't but I just wanted to make sure, I just didn't know if it having the extra warrenty did anything for that. It still looks completely brand new just it has a skullcandy case on it that wont seem to come off.
I also tried getting on the Best Buy thing that says how much they would pay for the used stuff but it wouldnt load, it kept saying "could not load page correctly"
    Well thanks

While your device is out of the return period you could return to the store and return the protection plan for a pro-rated refund. Meaning you wont get the full price you paid for the plan back but should get alot of it back. Then you can use the money they give you back to assist in buying a new ipod.

  • IPod Nano Warrenty Question.

I bought a 4 gb iPod nano about a month ago and the screen does not work anymore. There is a very minor dent on the side of the nano, but it was working fine for the 2 weeks until today. Does the warrenty cover for it to be replaced for a new one? The dent was caused by dropping it. Thanks for all comments in advance!

No, the warranty would most likely not cover this.
You are not covered for damage due to dropping. Apple will most likelt see the dent, assume it was dropped, and conclude that is the reason the screen is broken. (Which it probably is.)
Couldn't hurt to take it to an Apple store and ask them about it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

  • Why does my ipod 4th generation do the oppesite of what i want it to do? like when iam listening to music the voice commend comes on without me pressing anything or it shuts me out the internet wen i am browsing the web??

my ipod is not working.it shuts me out of the internet and it starts doing things without me pressing anything. i bought the target store electronics warrenty but i haven't been able to get anything worked out. they ask me for some wierd numbers that i can not find anywhere on the ipod or warrenty..wat can i do??

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring from backup
    - Restoring to factory defaults/new iPod
Are you using the headphone/mic?  If so sometimes sweat/moisture in the controls can make the iPod do strange things.
What number are you looking for?
If les than a year old, the Apple warranty still covers it.

  • I just got an iPod touch 5g for Christmas and last night I was FaceTiming a family member and I noticed my speaker sounded a little wired, like it blew out which I don't even know how I did it! I never have it up full blast! Does the warrenty cover it?

If you are in the US you can see if there is a genius bar by going to http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar and then click on Make a Reservation at the top and you can search state, city and see how far they are from you.

  • Scratched Up Brand New iPod(less than 24 hrs) Under warrenty?

I have had my black 30G for 23.5 hours as of this post, I have moved after removing it from the box, once. I moved it in the apple issued case then in the breast pocket of my jacket, only other place its been is in my hand and my hands are not that dry. Its now completely scratched up, I am amazed at how much scratching has already occured. I am wondering A if Apple will replace it under warrenty, B if I should bother or is this just a 5G defect and what ever they replace it with will be the same way, C if anybody has used any third party scratch remover that works and wont damage the iPod /void the warrenty? Also any hints on maximizing battery life / why is it showing full charge after only 20mins of charging?

Unfortunately scratches aren't considered a defect.
If the click wheel stopped working or the screen went bad, then that's covered under warranty. But scratches, unfortunately aren't. I would do a search. There have been a few people with success with scratch removers.
The iPod comes partially charged. There's also that fast chargering, and a full charge.

Damage is not covered.  As with any warranty - manufacturer defects are covered.

  • If I buy an ipod off of ebay, can i also buy long warrenty from apple?

I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but it seems hard to get answers from apple...
If I buy an ipod off of ebay, can i also buy an extended warrenty from apple?

It depends on when the iPod was originally purchased by its original owner.
The Applecare Protection Plan can only be purchased within 1 year of the original purchase date.
Since you are posting in the 5th Gen iPod forum... I'll assume you are looking to purchase a 5th Gen ipod.
If so, then you can buy the APP, since all 5th Gen iPods would be less than 1 year old at this point. They were released late 2005.

  • Even though my ipod is about 7 months old, can i get a longer warrenty on it?

So i need a 1 year warrenty on my ipod just in case it breaks. So, I need to know if i can still get a warrenty if its about 7 months old.

Yes, you can purchase AppleCare as long as the standard 1-year warranty has not yet expired.
    Important notes
The AppleCare Protection Plan can be purchased only while your iPod or Apple TV is still covered under the standard one-year limited warranty. See AppleCare Protection Plan Terms and Conditions for complete product details.

  • If you jailbreak your ipod touch and crack the screen will the warrenty still work? Also, would the warrenty fix the screen?

If you jailbreak your ipod touch and crack the screen will the warrenty still work? Also, would the warrenty fix the screen? Would it cost money? Its a 5th gen.

Once you jail break Apple won't help with the machine. I'm not even sure if they'll honor an 'out of warranty' replacement.
Accidental damage, which is what a broken screen is, starts at $149 US

  • In a curious iPod warrenty situation

I have a broken iPod that broke when it was under warrenty. I ordered the box to send it away to be fixed, but before I could send it I moved. I lost the box in the move long enough for my warrently to run out. I've since recovered it but the box has been damaged considerably. Thank god for the foam interior casing, my crap iPod is still in one piece. Now, since I ordered the box under the warrenty period do I have any sort of argument going for me to get another box and a freshy iPod? It was only working for 1 month!
    -Sad

I'm in a similar situation. My nano screen cracked after 5 months of use, but i'm just now, 11 months after the warranty was purchased becuase although the iPod plays music, not being able to see my songs has become very inconveniancing. I am wondering what to do if my warranty ran out. My suggestion is to look and see if anywhere where apple sent you something to see if it has an Apple case number on it, to show that you started the long, ardous struggle to get a new iPod while it was still under warranty.

  • Apple Wont replace In Warrenty iPod

i broke my old ipod so i got a new one through home insurance and all thye gave me was a invoice saying 30gb white ipod and its broke now still in warrenty by like 20 days and apple are dragging this out and are been very repetative saying its not enough proof to prove that mine is the ipod matching that invoice and ive rang them 4 times, emailed thier change the date of purchase email and gone in the shop 3 times and theyve been consistantly unhelpful and clearly are waiting till its out of warrenty so they don't have to give away one lousey ipod
i can no longer trust apple to be helpful

Put the iPod serial number in the box at the bottom of this page -> http://www.apple.com/support/
to see when the warranty is up.
If it's still in warranty, fill out a service request here -> http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
