US MBP adapter can be used in UK ?

I bought my MBP here in US. I will be visiting UK next week. Can I use the Power Adapter there ? I believe they have a different type of plugs.

Yes, you will need an adapter plug, which you can buy in the US in drugstores, at the airport, and even in the UK. The Power Adapter is dual voltage. You can also buy at Apple a travel set with various adapters, which you hook on he Power Adapter.

  • What PCI card to USB adapter can I use on my Satellite C

    Hi
My remaining working USB port has now deceased and I am stuck as I can no longer print (more importantly the kids can't print their homework!!) From the little understanding I have found out that I can either get the mother board replaced (expensive so not an option!) or get a *card adapter with USB ports* on it that goes in the card reader at the front of the laptop??
Does anyone know exactly what I am to buy as it all looks rather complicated to me!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! many thanks, Kerry.

    Hi Kerry
Can you please tell us more about your Toshiba notebook?
Which model do you have exactly?
Have you tested functionality of all USB ports?
    How old is your notebook?
I mean if the warranty is still valid contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help?
Do you have new printer with WLAN inside. If yes you can print using WLAN connection.

  • Sender file adapter - Can I use *.xml for the file name

    Hi Gurus,
I have some interfaces where I need to pick the file from a directory. The name of the file will have Data<i>time stamp</i> as the naming convention. Can I use *.xml to pick up my files from this directory?
The help.sap.com documentation says that we can use this naming convention.
    <b>
    &#9679;      File Name
Specify the name of the file that you want to process. The name can contain placeholders (*, ? (placeholders for exactly one character)) so that you can select a list of files for processing.
    </b>
I tried using *.xml for my file name in the communication channel, XI is not picking up this file.
Please let me know if you have the solution.
    Thanks
    Kalyan

    Murthy,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am using GuildFTP tool as my FTP server. In this tool, all the permissions were given for the file to pick up.
The status of the file is good.
Where in the file adapter configuration I have to select 'Read-only'?
The file adapter is working perfect with the exact name of the file.
    Thanks

  • My MBP 13" can be used always with AC adapter?

    Simply (silly) question as subject.
I primary use my MBP 13" connected to AC adapter and only few times it is used with battery. I guess it is not good for battery health and with company notebook I use to remove it while I use it at home with AC adapter (I can't do it with the MBP).
    What to do? any suggestion?
    thank you in advance
    G

It will be fine to keep it connected nearly continuously to AC mains adapter. I've done that for years with PowerBooks and MacBooks, and MacBook Pro's. The charging system is very smart and won't harm the battery with overcharging. However, two things should be kept in mind.
    1. Don't let the laptop overheat. Heating a fully charged lithium battery reduces its charge capacity.
    2. A few times per month run the battery down to about 50% capacity to exercise it. Otherwise you may lose capacity faster than normal. Actually keeping it at 100% charge does somewhat reduce its shelf life, but removing the battery and risking data loss with power failures costs more than a battery.
    3. Every four months or so run the battery all the way down to the machine shutting itself off to recalibrate the capacity estimation system. This reduces physical charge capacity each time you run the battery all the way down, but is needed to keep the charge estimation systems in sync with the actual battery condition. Do not do this frequently.
This regimen allows me to keep my batteries in good condition for years despite running 98% of the time on mains.

  • JDBC Adapter can be used for sender / receiver for MS Access ?

    Hi  Experts
I want to communicate with MS Access by using JDBC sender and receiver
adapter ?  How to set up ?
       Links/screen shots/etc..........
    Adv thanx
    regards
    rakesh

    Hi Rakesh ,
    >>>> Why the driver is : jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver
    (*.mdb)};DBQ=//xiserver/xitemp/db/TestDB.mdb ?
if your test data base file is TestDB.mdb you need to give the absolute path of the file to get access to JDBC adapter set so you can replace the file path with the corresponding path on your test system .
Please place the data base file in a directory where the XI system has share access.

  • Do you think mbp 13 can be used for using auto cad, catia, ansys and cfd software if not where can i give them suggestion to improve their graphics performance on mbp13 (i cant afford mbp15 and also it is not portable)

i need to use powerfull application like auto cad, ansys, nxcad, catia(i am going to use Windows 7)
is the intel 5100 enough for these pourpose
i am not use it as professional level but i need a performance of GT 650m
i am not going for mbp 15 becuase
    -price
    -portability
    -battery life
please dont suggest me other windows machine becuase i consider to buy razer blade but battery was very poor and over heating
i think apple can improve their mbp 13 by
    -intel i7 quad processor
-extra graphics nvidia gt or gtx series (without sacrificing battery life)
    -touch screen
    -4k screen

I would strongly not recommend the 13" MBP for use with software like AutoCad, ANSYS and any CFD program, not due to the graphics porcessor but due to the cpu.  If you are going to run a CFD program like FLUENT or CD STAR this is the wrong platform to use.  You need to use something of the class of the Mac Pro with the 6-core Xeon processor and a lot of memory.  That software is a huge computational load and the cpu in the 13" MBP will overheat even with a small problem to analyze.
ANSYS and FLUENT are multi-threaded and will benefit for the capabilities of the Mac Pro.

  • JDBC Sender adapter - can VIEW be used in Query statement

    Hi,
In JDBC Sender adapter, can we use a VIEW sql query in the "Query SQL Statement" placeholder?
    For eg:
    CREATE VIEW <view name> as SELECT * from <table name> WHERE <condition>
    instead of the usual:
    SELECT * from <table name> WHERE <condition>
    Thanks,
    Vishak

    Hi
What exactly is your use of creating a view, if you are going to fetch data from different tables, then you can use the view through stored procedures.
    Hope this clears your doubts
    Thanks

  • Can I use 90w power adapter interchangeably with my 65w computer?

    I have two Thinkpads:
    1) T400 that has a 90w 20v power adapater
    2) T430S that has a 65w 20v power adapter
Can I use the chargers interchangeably on the computers?  Are there any concerns, side effects?  My assumption is that using the 65w on the T400 will take longer to charge the battery.  More importantly, I would like to know if there will be any damage if I use the 90w charger on the T430S.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can interchange them without harming either ThinkPad. Note that there will be limitations with a 65W adapter:
    1. It will take longer to recharge the battery.
    2. It may not be powerful enough to power/recharge certain configurations, e.g. with i7 processors and/or discrete graphics processors.
    3. It may not be powerful enough to power/recharge certain types of usage, e.g. when watching a DVD while at the same time running HDD intensive applications.
    4. Certain features, e.g. RapidCharge on the T430s, won't work.

  • Can I use the IPad adapter/charger to charge my iphone

My wife and I have been using the same Apple adapter/charger to charge our iphone & ipad.
I decided today to purchase another aso we can each have our own.
When I went to the apple store I was told that I should purchase an IPad Adapter as it used 10 watts.
When I got home I checked and found that I've been using the 10w to charge my wife's iphone successfully.
Should I return the adapter I have just bought & get an iphone adapter or can the ipad charger be used for both.
    thanks

The iPad adapter can be used to charge the iPhone.

  • Can I use the Superdrive to do a Multisession DVD

For some reason I cannot get Apple to give me a clear answer about the super drive in my MBP. CAN I USE THE SUPERDRIVE TO DO MULTIPLE SESSIONS ON A DVD!!! Sorry I'm yelling but they cannot hear me. The Super Drive is a DVD+RW which means you can do multiple session or so I thought. They keep telling me that I can but they dont really seem to know for sure, weird huh? So Can I use a DVD to do multisessions with the MBP?

Oh here is what the Disk Utility help file says, this is why I am stumped
Recording on a recordable disc more than once
Normally, you can burn items to a recordable disc, such as a CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-RW, only one time. However, if you use Disk Utility to burn the disc, you can burn items to a disk in more than one session as long as space is available. This is also called multisession burning.
    1. In Disk Utility, create a disk image that contains the files you want to burn to the disc.
The files must be from a volume with a Mac OS Extended disk format. To check a volume's disk format, select the disk in Disk Utility and look at the information at the bottom of the Disk Utility window.
    2. Select the disk image in the Disk Utility list and choose Images > Burn.
    3. Select the "Leave disc appendable" checkbox. If you don't see this option, click the triangle in the top-right corner.
    4. Insert a blank recordable disc in the optical drive, and click Burn.
To add more files to the disc later, follow the steps above. You can continue this process until all available space on the disc is used.

  • Can i use a WD My book backup to transfer data from old pc to new macbook pro with retina

I am getting a new macbook pro retina and I need to migrate from my old pc to the MBP. Can I use my WD My Book back up to transfer? I dont have the thunderbolt to ethernet connection and my wireless is not real fast, so afraid to do that way. Thank you!

    Hi Cher A!
I think the answer you are looking for can be found in this article:

Specifically, see the information under the heading, “Time Machine or other disk migration.” Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

On my 2012 MBP I can no longer use dual screens/HDMI after upgrading to 10.8.2. I'm using Moshi Thunderbolt adapter

I think you are sailing in uncharted waters with those kind of modifications.
I am only guessing, but if you have not already done so,  do a PRAM reset and then trash your FCP preferences.

My understanding is the Mac is doing a ram/hardware test during the grey screen, if the card you added had additional memory, then it is very likely the test will take longer - but I am no hardware expert.

  • 2006 MBP: can I use a new adapter with my old t-cable?

My 85w adapter crapped out and I have isolated the issue to the adapter itself and not the cable with the magsafe t-shape. I understand that the new adapters dont work with older macbooks so rather than trying to track down an old adapter can I just buy a new one with the L-shape magsafe and swap in my t-shape magsafe cable?

There have been people report "fit" issues with the L adaptors on older MBPs. Not all, but a lot. Take the MBP with you to an Apple Store or AASP and make them show you that the new adapter not only fits but charges your computer.
