US Skype numbers for business use

Hello team,

Thank you.
Best,
Mae

Hi, Maegia20, and welcome to the Community,
A Skype Number is associated with a Skype Account, so whomever you are referring to may set up a Skype Number subscription with a number based in the USA.  Skype Numbers can be answered from anywhere.
More information related to Skype Numbers can be found in this FAQ library:

  • Skype license agreement business use

    Hello,
I'm searching the whole skype webpage, but cannot find anything related to my question about the license agreement for business use.
Can anyone tell me (or show me the link) to the page where it is told that i can or cannot use Skype for business use? We are a company of 60 people in The Netherlands, and we want to use Skype in our company to make calls to other users aroud the world. I want to know it this is legal.
We do not need the full version with screen sharing etc. Only video and sound with more that two people in more than to places around the world is fine.
    Solved!

This is classic Microsoft at work - read our legal page.  Almost every Microsoft product requires the opinion of one Microsoft license employee and 2 people at a VAR and even after a conference call most people walk away still confused or a recommendation in the "grey".
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI hope Nadella can get this fixed and make it simple.  We are not trying to rip you off we are trying to ask basic questions to understand and compare the alternatives - if all you can do is point to your legal agreement you have already failed one of the most basic business rules.
Can you please respond without referring to the legal agreement?
    Thanks
I'm neither a Microsoft or Skype employee so I can only offer my observations.  Our society and businesses are based off laws and contracts.  Since legal counsel is often used to draft such agreements a business generally utilizes counsel to decipher areas that might require further clarification. I'm not a lawyer but I have found the Terms of Use to be rather straightforward. If I have to dumb it down further in respect to the original question, it's pretty simple.
Subscriptions are to be used by a singular person and can't be shared.  You can't use subscriptions for call center operations, cold/revenue calling, etc.   Skype's Fair usage policy is well worded (http://www.skype.com/en/legal/fair-usage/).   Skype credit calling doesn't appear to be as restricted.   If your business is making calls that coincide with standard business operations, I don't see how you would be in violation of anything.   If your business operations  are in a legal or possibly moral grey area then it would be better suited to interact with a company that explicitly supports your specific/unique operations.  Of course if those operations are generally considered illegal then no contract or terms of use would legitimize it.

  • How do you restrict web browsing to view only specified sites for business use?

Hello, I need to restrict the use of Firefox and Internet Explorer to only specified websites that we use for business use.
I have a problem with a number of employees using unauthorized and dangerous websites that have put my business computers at risk.
Since it is impossible to police the employees viewing habits in real time, I need to restrict the viewing. How do I set up a list of only allowed sites that can only be overridden by admin privileges despite user accounts?

You will have to block such unwanted sites in a firewall or router or proxy and only allow access via that proxy.<br />
All other ways can easily circumvented, by starting Firefox in [[Safe mode]] if it is an extension or by using a portable Firefox version.

  • Can i use adobe reader for business use?

i'm starting a computer repair business and need adobe reader for lots of pdf documents and was wandering if i can use adobe reader for business use?

Before trying to answer your question, a bit of advise: don't post your email address in a public forum such as this, as you did in the message above. I am answering to the one before that, so that you may remove your address from your last message.
As to your question, the short and frank answer is "I don't know". The long answer is that I still don't see where the free Reader comes in your making some money. For backing up files, one does not need the program used to create or open them; one can just copy and paste them, without even opening them. And while one does need Reader or Acrobat to open the PDF files and then print them, in the eyes of this complete ignorant of the pertinent laws even in my own country, you would be fully justified if you charged for your time and for the use of your computer and your printer. As I understand things, many print shops (those using presses, not printers) print from PDF files provided by their clients without even needing to ask Adobe for permission to do so.
Let's hope that someone with a better knowledge of the legal aspects of this matter reads your question.

  • Calendar for business use

I am trying to set up a shared calendar for business use. As we all use MAC it has been suggested that iCal could support this.
However, I am struggling to set this up.
Firstly, if I add any calendars to my existing set, it seems that any appointments or reminders are automatically shared. I don't think my colleagues need to know that the bins need putting out!
Ideally I would like to use a different Apple ID for business from personal. I cannot see that it is possible to have more than one Apple ID assigned to an iMAC.
Once you have set up a calendar, how do you go about sharing it with others on different IDs?
I cannot find anything to guide me on how to set this up or even whether it is possible. If anyone has any advice, I would be extremely grateful.
    Many thanks

You can share an individual calendar using iCloud. If the others need to write to it they will need their own iCloud accounts. The method is described on this and the subsequent pages:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a8694
If you want to do this on another Apple ID/iCloud account (though there isn't really any need) you can add a second iCloud account in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars. The account will appear in the list in iCal under the new ID and you can add calendars to it.
You might like to look at BusyCal ($49.99) - it is similar to iCal but with extra facilities. (I have no connection with this firm.)
As it's for business purposes you should note that iCloud is positioned for personal use and although you can do what you suggest, there is minimal support. A possible alternative is Fruux which provides syncing using their own servers and has a service for Team use at €20 per month and proper support (I have no connection with this firm either).

  • Individual license for business use.

    Hi,
We are development company around 5 people are working. Among 5 employees there is only one Photoshop designer. For one photoshop designer, do i need to buy Individual license or Team license. It seems Adobe providing the license based on the seat(i read somewhere else). I dont know what version should i use.
    Please clarify my doubt.
    Thanks  in advance.

I've just had a live chat with adobe, from our conversation, I'm convinced that it is legal to use an individual license for business use. Attached screenshot of the live chat and the two screenshots I sent over during livechat to make sure we are on the same page when we're referring to "individual license" and "business license"
kindly ignore the part I mentioned about Denave Pte Ltd. That's a topic for a different post.

  • Obtaining good clipart for business use?

I sincerely apologise if this is off-topic.
I am designing a website which will be used commercially.
I do not want to fall into the trap of using another persons artwork illegally.
Does anyone know where I can purchase/download for professional use, a complete collection of clipart with business theme.
I have searched all over the web but it's a minefield out there and I wonder where professional web developers obtain their clipart from if they have not the means to create it themselves.
I do not mind paying for a DVD or able to download a collection, but it has to be legally allowed to use for business use without fear of being sued.
    Thank you in advance
    Terry

Google for Free Business Clip Art if that is what youre talking about - clip art is usually basic line drawings. If you mean image then Google for Free Business Images.
If you have a few pounds to allocate you could take a look at one of the royalty free image libraries like (Dreamstime)- Stock Photos, Royalty Free Images & Video Footage By Dreamstime Stock Photography OR (istock) -  Stock photos, royalty-free images, video & music clips - iStock
On a limited budget I always think it's  best to obtain a few good images rather than use a dozen bad ones.
You might find something worth using on the site below for FREE. I have used several images from the site in the past. There are some reasonably good ones, depending on what you need.

  • No Skype Numbers for Washington DC?

I'm new to Skype, so forgive me if I'm missing somthing here, but when I tried to set up a skype number and used the drop-down box to designate a state & area code, there was no option to designate Washington DC, so I couldn't proceed.  Anyone know what I need to do?   Thanks.

Hi, the3spirit, and welcome to the Community,
Using FireFox , I found Area Code 202 telephone numbers available for Washington, D.C. - listed under District of Columbia.  Maine and Hawaii are two states I am aware of where Skype Numbers are not available.
    Kind regards,

  • Both of the 4G mobile hotspots are useless for business use

I just returned the Samsung SCH LC11 as it can't be used with VPN. I saw that the Novatel 4510L was released and spoke to level 2 tech, it's not VPN compatible either.  Great to have a 4G network that useless for business.  The tech team has no clue as to when this will be resolved.

Since the early release the Iphone now gives you the ability to shut off your email and you would have control over your web surfing via edge/safari by just not surfing. In other countries (like Germany for example) I understand WI-Fi is more available. Here in the US ATT has public Wi-Fi spots where you can buy a day , week or month of time for between $7 and $30 which allows you to control you data and email costs. Now while these conditions may not be ideal, if this is truly for business then such costs would be the cost of doing business even in the UK but I guess since you have the VAT across the pond it is a god reason not to want to pay more up front. The Wi-Fi solution isn't perfect because you now have to actively get your own email rather than having the phone get it for you but and you can't use the surfing and Google features at will but such is the price of controlling cost. We have had early usage problems here in the states where families going on cruises forgot to turn off their Iphones and got socked with $4300 phone bills, but updates to the software allow you to control the email features. Hope this helps with your decision. I think you'll find the Iphone not so much useless for business travelers as you might suspect.

  • Skype numbers for canada:

Is there a reason I can't get a skype number for Canada? I have used skype for 3 years and would like to have a number for when I am in Asia.

I have been waiting for years to get a Canadian number. They've been telling me it's in the work pretty much since it's launched. It's crazy that it's not available here. Now that Microsoft has taken over, hopefully they'll make it a priority to get that for us.
Why have we really not gotten any access to this service yet?

  • Is Skype good for business?

I came across some disgruntled comments ... that's why I want to know if Skype is still good for businss ...

You get everything you need for conversations in one app—IM, audio and video calls, online meetings and sharing. And because Skype for Business and Office work together, it’s simple to collaborate right from your Office apps. You’ll see the contact card of everyone working in the same app as you so you can quickly send them an IM or email, or start a call. You can also schedule meetings and see IM history in Outlook, and start meetings from apps like Word and PowerPoint to present whatever you’re working on. Sourced from: Skype

  • ICloud for Business Use

I have a personal iCloud account, and would like to install iCloud on my work PC in order to keep travel calendars (work related) synced across my devices, as well as my wife's devices (so she can plan around my travel).
Does the EULA or Terms of Conditions prohibit business use of iCloud, or installation on a business PC?  Is there a separate license that would need to be purchased in order to use iCloud at work?

    No, use Dropbox, or SugarSync.
And think about the wisdom of 'free' services for a business.

  • Apple ID for Business Use

We wanna roll-out 130 Iphones and 130 Ipads in our company, and there is one open point.
Normally we use one Apple-ID for every Device, so we are saving the registration/administration of 130 Apple-IDs. We have the control of downloaded apps. Not every user has a credit-card or company credit card.
But what´s not so smart to this solution?
Facetime and imessage isn´t working with this, because the classification will change with every new Device. With installing of a new device, apple sent Messages, that a new number/email was added to this account to some device.
What can we do? We wanna use facetime and imessage?
Thanks in advanced for your help
