USA VS EUROPE

Hi, I'm Canadian, and I would like to burn CDs or DVDs for a friend in France (Europe). For instance, I know that their TV DVD Format are different from ours. I'm using iTunes 5 to burn CDs and Motion Pictures with Toast Titanium 7 to burn DVDs or SVCDs. I read about NTCS and PAL, but unfortunatly it is still not clear to me who is using/reading what. Thanks in advance, Alain

Your CDs are fine
Your video (DVD and SVCd) need to be in PAL format .. north america is NTSC Not sure if Toast can do that for you, search the program for PAL. iDVD will make a PAL DVD but you have to set the preference first, then create the project
Having said that, most comtemporary DVD players in Europe will have the capacity to play back NTSC video
For more info on this, search this data base for PAL

  • Why the diference of prices in the USA and Europe?

Thinking in subscrive the Creative Cloud Services but don't understand why the diference of prices in the USA and Europe? USA 49.99USD (+- 38 euros) the same product in Europe  61.49€ (+- 82 USD)? For the same product why is the diference so big?
    Thanks for your time guys

Its not just Adobe, its any Company that does major business in the USA.
Typically in the UK we pay the dollar equivalent that is a $100 item costs £100 or that is equal to $153 using the current exchange rate.
Adobe then adds even more so that the rest of the world subsidizes the USA costs

  • Iphone USA in Europe

If I buy an Iphone in the USA and take it back to Europe (the Netherlands) will it work properly?

    Hi
So basicly if you buy an iPhone from USA the mager issue that Hardware Warranty and I will explain.
If you have any Software issue with the device AppleCare or Retail Store can help you without issues; but if you have a Hardware issue then unfurtunatly you will need to take back the device to the point-of-purchase or a Retail Store or make a carry-in that basicly needs an USA address.
Note: this is not only with USA devices and not only with iPhones; this is with any iOS device with Cellular data and its vice-versa. So if you buy an iPhone in Germany and move to USA you will need to take/send device back to Europe. Ofc the rest any iPad without Cellular will be repaired in USA or Europe as well; with Mac's same global Warranty no issues.
Hope it clears a few things.

  • ILife software from USA vs Europe: Is there a difference?

I have a mac mini from the USA that I am now using in Germany where I live. I would like to purchase the new iLife software and would like to know if there is a difference between what I buy in Europe vs the USA. I know for example that nintendo games are region coded and it makes a difference where the main system is from....is the same true with mac software?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
There is no difference in the iLife packages, no matter where you buy them.

  • How to gift into USA from Europe. Urgent.

    Hello.
I have a problem i'm tryin to solve since days without any luck.
I live in europe, italy to be precise, and i want to gift a product into USA to a friend.
The idea is to buy the product from apple.com online store with my credit card, and pick as delivery address my friend address in USA, so it will be delivered there.
The question is if its possible to do so? Also is it possible having it delivered? Since i'm from another country i would like to know exactly how this will get handled. I searched and didnt found any information. I didnt find a mail to contact apple. Just phone numbers but i'm not from USA.
    Thanks

You are posting in the Mac App Store forum and as stated you cannot gift apps from one country to another, at least not easily. However, your question sounds like you are actually asking about purchasind an Apple hardware product, such as a Mac or an iOS device. That is also a bit difficult directly with Apple, but it can usually be achieved by making your purchase through an Apple Authorized 3rd party vender, such as Amazon.com and you can often use international bankcards to pay for the purchase or even a PayPal account funded by your bank card. I would look into that possibility.

  • From USA to Europe

I buyed an Airport Express in USA to extend my wifi at home in Italy. But selecting countries ITA is not one listed so the base refuse to extend wifi . Where can I get correct software or how to fix the problem?

    Fred,
Keep in mind that besides the voltage, the frequency is also different in Europe -- 50Hz there, 60Hz here in the States. My iMac is newer than yours, but it has the electrical info printed on the back of the display -- check yours to see if it is there too. I believe it's required by international law to have this info visible on all electrical appliances.
I am not sure how computers differ from other appliances in this regard, but I do know that electrical alarm clocks, for example, use the electrical current's frequency to keep the time. My European alarm clock did work in the U.S. on a voltage converter, but the time was WAY off -- like ten minutes every hour. It would stink if that happened with your mac. Please check this too.
That said, if it turns out to be simply a matter of converting the voltage, then I don't think you need a step-down converter with such high wattage (750W). Since converters get more expensive (and bigger) as the wattage goes up, you would be well-advised to not go too much higher than what you actually need. According to the Apple site, the new iMacs have a maximum continuous power of 180W. Getting a 200W converter would be cutting it a little close, but 300W should be more than plenty. Just don't plug your toaster in there too... (Tip: anything that generates serious heat, like coffee makers and toasters, requires a high wattage converter.)
However, if you have peripheral devices (external hard drive or whatever) that you also want to plug in to your power strip, you may need to go higher. And do get the converter before you go; you'll have much more choice at much better prices here. I used www.voltageconverters.com and was happy with their service.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I use an Airport Extreme Base Station from the USA in Europe ?

A friend of mine gave me an Airport Extreme Base Station from the USA to Germany. When I hook it up to my PB by ethernet cable the Computer can't find the Base Station at all. If I use my Sonnett Aria Extreme PCI card it finds the station but in the pop-up menu asking in which country I want to use the airport station it only offers North and South American countries. How do I go from here and why is my PB not finding the station when I'm using cables ? Has it something to do with different models for different countries ? Any idea ? Thanx

    Here you go ...
Changing the Radio Channel on the AEBSn
Either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network, or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the LAN ports of the AEBSn, and then, using the AirPort Utility in Manual Setup, check these settings:
    AirPort - Wireless
    o Channel: <Use Automatic or select a preferred channel>

I have an iphone 5 under warranty that i bought from canada and the start botton is broken i went to apple store in barcelona and they told me that i can replace it only in usa or canada because they arr different so what should i do???

Go back to Canada and get the phone replaced there.  You bought the phone in Canada originally, so the warranty is only valid for Canada and nowehre else.  The iPhone warranty is NOT international.  Go back to Canada.

Im totally clueless about this. Ive read most Computers are built so they can work in multiple ccountries. so if i move my iMAC from the US i can get away with just buying a plug adaptor and not needing a voltage controller? will Apple sell me a power cord for my iMAC G5 for use in Europe?

  • Everything works fine, my wifi connection but suddenly  in upper left corner sign "no service"appeared.  But connection works to Internet, anyway. (I changed location recently from USA to Europe.

Corner sign  No service appeared. What that's mean?   I am connected , recently changed locations.

Do you have a 3G/4g iPad?
I believe the no service warning is the iPad telling you you are not connected to a cell network.
