Usability of Camera Icon at the Lock Screen
My question is on the usability of the Camera Icon on the Lock Screen.I have seen difference in the behaviour of basic lock functionality in iphone 4 with ios 5.01. & ios 5.1. Below mentioned are the details :
Case 1-> User is using Iphone 4 with ios 5.0.1
Pre-conditions -> Phone is locked with Passcode Lock as Off.
1) User double clicks on the Home button.
2) Camera Icon is displayed on the bottom right hand side adjacent to the unlock slider.
3) User clicks on the Camera Icon.
4) Camera Application Opens.
5) The square box on the bottom left hand side of the screen is displayed as black. This square box normally displays the last clicked snap.
6) User clicks on the Square box.
Result -> Iphone displays a page with a message saying " Your iPhone is locked.Unlock your iPhone to see all your photos and videos." A blue color camera icon is also present on the bottom left hand side.
This functionality seems to work as per the expectations.
Case 2 -> User is using Iphone 4 with ios 5.1
Pre-conditions -> Phone is locked with Passcode Lock as Off.
1) User clicks on the Home button.
2) Camera Icon is displayed on the bottom right hand side adjacent to the unlock slider.
3) User slides the camera icon to the top.
4) Camera Application Opens.
5) The square box on the bottom left hand side of the screen is present and is currrently displaying the last clicked snap.
6) User clicks on the Square box.
Result -> Iphone displays all the photos and videos to the User.
This functionality is providing the user access to all the photos and videos without unlocking the iPhone.
However, i also tried the Case2 with Passcode Lock as ON.With this setting, Iphone is behaving as Case1 i.e. User is not able to view the Photos and videos in Locked Mode.
As a user i would like the iPhone to behave in a sycnhronized way no matter how the user is locking the iPhone.
Kindly try to replicate this behaviour and provide your comments/suggestions.

How do you get rid of the camera feature on the lock screen?
You don't, unless you disable the Camera app entirely.
It's such a nuisance...
Really, how so?
I don't want people going into my photos or my iphone!!
If you add a passcode to your iPhone as you should, then there's no way they can see anything in your iPhone. Of course, if the passcode is set but not enough time has elapsed that's different -- but that has nothing to do with this icon.

Where is the camera icon on the lock screen after downloading ios5
I completed the download of ios5 and I believe there is supposed to be a small camera icon on the lock screen so I can take a photo without having to unlock the phone. I did see it right after the download but it has since disappeared. Anyone know how to get it back?
Thanks!!Your welcome! Hey, I didn't know how to access it at first, also!

I have an iPhone 4. I upgraded to ios5. I don't have the camera icon on the lock screen next to the unlock slide. Why not?
Probably because you haven't double-clicked the home button.

How do I turn off the new camera icon on the lock screen?
For me, I don't like the camera icon on the lock screen. I don't want someone picking up my phone and taking pics without my permission. How do I turn it off and remove the icon from the lock screen???
You can't unless you disable the camera app completely in restrictions. However, if you set the Require Passcode to Immediately in Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Require Passcode>Immediately the iPhone cannot be accessed even if the camera was opened accidentally and subsequently neither could your photos as a message would appear stating Your iPhone is Locked.
I appreciate that doesn't prevent someone from taking photos from your iPhone without permission.

Upgrading to IOS 5, no camera icon on the lock screen why?
upgrading to IOS 5, no camera icon on the lock screen why?
put your finger on the photo frame icon and slide up.
i.e. the camera opens in a "reverse notifications" style in ios 5.1 -
After I use the camera icon on the lock screen it doesn't requires password to use the iPhone,
You have the password requirement set to something other than "Immediate".
Settings > General > Password Lock > Require Password -

Verizon shows the camera icon on the locked [not home] screen. On the S4 Mini...[at least on my unit] the camera is not on the screen. So, to take a pix, one needs to unlock, then select the camera icon...then shoot.
How to solve this? Can't guarantee the accuracy but here's a link. Read the 4 comments in addition to the instructions:

I have installed IOS5 on my iPhone. There is supposed to be a camera icon/button on the lock screen that enables you to take photos without unlocking the camera. That icon/button does not appear. Do I need to configure something to get the icon to appear?
Double click your home button when the phone is locked. The camera icon will show up then.

Double click on the 'home' button and it appears. -
No camera button on the lock screen
I watched the Apple event where they described all the functions of the iPhone4S and one of the things they said it had, a camera icon on the lock
screen, is not on my phone. Is something wrong with my phone or do others see this as well?Nevermind I just found the answer in another thread. You have to double tap the home button on the lock screen and it comes up.

How do I turn off the Camera access from the lock screen
how do I turn off the Camera access from the lock screen ?
Only by hiding the camera via Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions. That hides the camera when unlocked unless you go to Restrictions and unset that Restriction. That is not way currently from just preventing camera access only from the lock screen
