Usage decision and inspection plan
Hi,
1. Once Usage decision has been done, can we still change it? how can i set that it can be changed?
2.Is it possible to create an Inspection plan for a group of material? for example, I just need to maintain 1 Inspection plan for 30 material. something like it can be group like reference operation set? if yes how? if no, why?

Yes UD can be changed anytime but you can not change the stock postng.Also for history in QM view tick on "document req"

Yes this is possible through QP01/02 --->in header there is one tab"Material assignment" here you can enter
Group conter (same say "1" ) material & plant.
Same Inspection plan is reffered to the multiple materials.You can add as materials possible.
But remember that Unit of measurement of all materials must be same.

Hi,
I have few questions regarding Specs and Inspection plans.
1) What is the primary purpose of specifications(CG02 transaction)?
2) What is the use of specficications in QM and EHS modules?
3) How are specifications related to Inspection plans?
4) What is the business advantage by enabling specification data to be copied directly into Inspection plans?

VishnuThe idea is that you can maintain all the specs in the EH&S module in one place. Specs are used of course to evaluate the material and make sure the material is what it is suppose to be.
The transferring however of the specs from the EH&S module to QM however leaves a lot to be desired. I don't recommend it at this time. If you attempt to do it, plan on bringing in a consulting partner or consultants. You'll probably wind up doing a lot of coding to make it work for you as there isn't much flexibility or functionality as it is currently delivered. All IMHO.

The first thing is that material spec is the client level data in QM where as Inspection plan is the plant level.
<u><b>
Case 1:</b></u> Suppose that there is an attribute Viscosity whivh needs to be checked whose UCL & LCL is 10 to 15. But in one plant where some highy precise requirement is there ...... then in that case we want that for that plant for the material viscocity should be 5 to 7 . In that case the requirement of the inspection plans comes in to picture .
<b><u>Case 2 :</u></b> The material got one extra attribute needs to be checked for some plant .... in that case we need to maintain inspection plan for that material with both Insp with material spec & insp with inspection plan need to be checked so that during the result recording apart from the attributes in the material spec this extra attribute gets populated from inspection plan
Note : Apart from this as in material spec the data is maintained in the client level the load in the database will be compartively less as there will not be any duplication of data which will be there in case of plant level data for the same material ..........
I hope this will add some info apart from what the gurus has suggested above .....

Material specification and Inspection plan - Task list usage
Dear Friends,
In inspection type Task list usage is assigned
For Example
inspection type 01 - usage - 03
inspection type 05 - usage - 05
inspection type 06 - usage - 07
inspection type 10 - usage - 06
In my scenario i want to use all the above inspection type for a product
if i use mateial specification there is no any problem with my Task list usage
If suppose i use inspection plan do i need to create different inspection plan with different usage
or is it possible to create one inspection plan with all the above usage
what about universal usage 03 can i use it
i try to use but system does not triggering inspection lot
can any one Suggest some ideas

All of first pls understand the concept of Task list and specification.
If you need to inspection any material in very systematic manner, where you will have well segregated operations where the appropriate Work Centers will be bind and under that hierarchy MIC will be attached. The inspection will be governed by some inspection points. And according the the same Samples will be calculated. When you wanna go with all these functionality then you must have to use Task list (Inspection plan).
And if you don't wish to have these functions then simply go with the material specification.
Now it comes the actual query about task list usage.
If there is a common inspection plan is supposed to be used for all the inspection types for your material then you can prepare only one inspection plan, put ant of the Usage to it it can be 05 or 03 universal. But what you have to do is,
Go to SPRO->Quality Management->Quality Inspection->Inspection Lot Creation->Maintain Inspection Types Execute and set the Task list usage as the same it is set in the inspection plan for all those Inspection types for which that common inspection plan is supposed to be used.
Note:- There is no any link between inspection lot creation and task list usage of inspection plan.

Timing of usage decision and results recording
Hi Gurus,
The business have different testings that require some time to get the results. They need to sell the products even before the results are out. So they need to UD the ilot even if the tests are not yet done. How can we record the results if the ilot is already done with UD and the product is already sold?

EvaIts not recommanded to do the Result recording after material is sold but still you can try to use the concept of "Long term Inspection "
While creating a MIC ,check a control indicator ,tick on "Long term Inspection "
This will allow you to do result recording after UD
In a long-term inspection:
There can already be a usage decision for the inspected material during the long-term inspection
You can still record inspection results for long-term characteristics, once you have made the usage decision
The system sets a separate status in the inspection lot to identify the long-term inspection and it provides special worklists and workflow tasks for this purpose -
Unable to change stock posting date at usage decision while inspecting HUs
If we were using materials without WMS it's simple: thereu2019s a button in the screen for stock posting by which we're able to change document date and posting date; but we're using WM and the screen is slightly different: the button I'm referring it's gone!
So, how to change the posting date at posting stock in QA11 when we're using handle units? Some end-user told me that in version 4.7 this was possible. I don't think so ...unless there was something customized at WM IMG...or maybe they were using a USER EXIT to bring a pop-up window for this (I'm starting to believe that this was implemented..). This is the first time I work with HUs, so I don't know how to manage this.

Reset Usage Decision and reverse posting in tcode QA12
Hi Friends,
I have a requirement to reset usage decision by creating a customer funtion button in tcode QA12 and reverse the posting quantity from restricted area to to be posted area.
I have implemented SAP Note# 175842.So now decision is getting reset but for reverse posting, i need to run RQEVAC50 program separately.But i need it in one go,like if user presses 'customer function' button, system should both reset the decision as well as reverse the posting quantity.
Can anybody tell me how to do this...

MadhuI am not sure but I have tried the same thing combining is possible when you do not have any stock posting praposal for selected set of UD.
What you have to do is make a separate program where implement aforesaid SAP note( as suggested in the note) and in the same program call for the screen to cancel the Usage decision(Read the user exit carefully)
QEVA0008-->Usage decision: Customer function key (e.g. to cancel UD) you can create a routine to call the screen & make changes in the background.

After made of Usage Decision the Notification will receive to the respective Managers as mentioned below:
IF Usage Decision is <b>QCR</b> then Notification will receive to only Marketing Manager
IF Usage Decision is <b>MR</b> then Notification will receive to Logistics Manager, QC manager and Production Manager
IF Usage Decision is <b>MA</b> then Notification will receive to Logistics Manager, QC manager and Production Manager
IF Usage Decision is <b>MAC</b> then Notification will receive to Logistics Manager, QC manager and Production Manager
IF Usage Decision is <b>QCA</b> then Notification will receive to Logistics Manager, Marketing Manager and Production Manager
Any Suggestions pls, workflow logic in this requirement.

I said that a rule is needed to specify work item agents (workflow step specification of selected agents). It is not quite true, you can specify the selected agents in other ways such as using expressions etc. You could therefore create a subtype of your business object where you define virtual attributes for the different agents you mentioned, i.e. a virtual attribute AG_MARKETING_MANAGER, another one called AG_LOGISTICS_MANAGER, a third one called AG_QC_MANAGER, and finally one called AG_PRODUCTION_MANAGER. These should have the data type TSWHACTOR.
However, you are asking for a method that does not involve rules, AND does not involve ABAP coding. I think you are out of luck there, because the virtual attributes will require (some) ABAP coding, and of course this approach is of more interest if these managers can be determined based on data that are maintained anyway - to save you the addition maintenance of the responsibility matrix in the workflow (responsibility) rule.
You can obtain exactly the same by creating a workflow rule that takes whatever parameters are relevant, plus the Usage Decision.
If you want to send a single step/mail to all the managers (I couldn't quite understand if you wanted a single step to a varying number of managers or a varying number of steps) the latter solution would be the best one, as the rule would give you the correct list of managers without any additional steps in the workflow.
If you create virtual attributes you can use container operations in the workflow to put all the relevant managers into one multiline container element. But that seems rather awkward compared to creating a workflow rule. -

QM Material specification with inspection plan
Hello,
I'm trying to setup QM material spec with inspection plan and it doesn't work.
I setup material master (With insp plant and with material spec).
I Created a characteristic that I used in my inspection plan and maintained the characteristic in the material specification.
When I create an inspection lot (89), the characteristic is always inserted at the end instead of redefining my specifications into the pre-defined characteristic.
Have I missed something?

Usage decision defaults always rejection
Hello experts
We have issues with the samples and the usage decision . Inspection lot qty - 1000 , Samples - 40 .
We have three chars in the samples. the results are recorded as summation recording. . We are doing entry in QA32 - Results recording like INSPECTED 40 and results 40,while entering results 40 ,automatically rejection tick mark was updated master data cause the problem ?
Any suggestion please

What is the mic that you are using and what is the sampling type and valuation you are using

I used a user status to make sure that if no Result Recording, then Usage Decision and stock posting not possible. That is working fine, but I need this to be valid only for required characteristics. It should not consider optional characteristics for this check.
But now, system checks whether the MIC status is "5" or not irrespective of Required or Optional MIC.
How can I make this User status setting applicale only for Required characteristic.

I have a situation where the incorrect inspection plan is assigned to an inspection lot. Is there any mechanism to assign a different inspection plan to an inspection lot i.e. without having to reverse a goods receipt.

Usage Decision -Transfer Posting
Hi All,
In our system Usage decision is usually done by QA10 (RQEVAI30) for inspection types 01,04,06.09.
Now i tried to do it for an inspection type 08(transfer posting),but the system is not recognizing the lots available for usage decision with inspection type 08.But when i try to do the UD through QA32,its doing the same sucessfully.
Why its so?Why system is not identifying the lots with inspection type 08 thr QA10?

Now i tried to maintain it.But Whats the usage to be used for stock transfer inspection(08)?I tried with usage 03(universal) and ran QA10.still its not recognizing lots with 08 inspection type.
I didnt get what u meant by " If yes then is your char in Long term or Required characteristic".
