Usage meter appliance disk full

Hi,
our usage meter appliance disk is full and postgres is not starting. I've tried to increase the disk from 15Gb to 30Gb and reboot the vm, but the vm is not picking up the new disk size.
do you have any idea of how to clean space, but most important how to increase the disk in the appliance.
thanks in advance
Best
Juan Luis

Hello.
Try to add new hdd to appliance.

  • 'Disk full' message even though 14gb is shown as available by Finder

I've started to receive a 'Disk full' message when every indication shows that I still have over 10GB of hard drive space available.  The bar at the bottom of the Finder window, the 'Get Info' screen, and Disk Inventory X all show that my space usage is about 10GB under the size of my available disk space.
The problem is not limited to an error message - web browsers will also sometimes refuse to download now because of 'disk full' issues.  But if I try to copy files within Finder, it always works, up to the actual limit of the disk size.   This suggests that something is going on with file management where both MacOS and my web browsers see that there is no space, but Finder is able to manage around it when I try to copy files.  Is this a known issue?   Are there large temporary files which are not reflected in the available disk space indicators?
I'm using an early 2011 MBP with 10.6.8, and the original 500gb hard drive.  I did just upgrade to 8GB of RAM but it's not clear if this is related or a coincidence.

You are Confusing RAM = Memory.. with Disc Space = Hard Drive...

  • Why is Premiere 6 giving a "Error writing file (disk full?)" message?

    Hello helpful experts,
    I'm using Premiere 6 on a Windows 7 machine.
I have a file imported in to the timeline and it is set to play in reverse via the speed setting being set to -100 and it plays back in the preview window correctly, in reverse, when I click the play button.
But when I do a  "File>Export Timeline>Movie" command I get an error message saying "An error occurred while making the movie. Error writing file (disk full?)"... but my hard drive is not nearly full, with over 30 gigs left open on it... and my RAM usage gadget shows over half of my RAM capacity is unused.
Now previously, weeks ago on a different project, I was getting this same error message for a while when I would hit enter to preview my movie on the timeline (but that worked itself out somehow and eventually stopped giving me that error message).  But when I went to save and export, then I would not get the error message... now, it is just the opposite... I'm now getting the error message when trying to do an export and save the movie.
And also now when I hit enter to preview, as opposed to just clicking the play button on the preview window, Premiere is going through the process of saving the movie since it is saving a temporary preview file... hopefully, since I'm getting this error message, I can find the temporary preview file and save it as my exported AVI file.
But I still shouldn't be getting this error message when trying to save, or when trying to preview, as I did for a while a couple of weeks ago.
Does anyone know about the erroneous error message that says, "An error occurred while making the movie. Error writing file (disk full?)"
    Thanks,
    numetro

I am unable to complete captures because I get a message
that says "capture stopped because disk was full." What
    does this mean?

If you are using a Pinnacle card, a possible solution to
this is to right click on the recycle bin, and set the
percentage on your media drive to less than 2%.
There a several other possible causes as well, but you
need to supply some info about your system. How are you
capturing and what format is your video? How big is
    your hard drive?
    Jeff Schell - 09:57am Apr 17, 2003 Pacific (#2 of 2)
this is one of my favorite error messages. Basically,
you've chosen an incorrect setting in your DV settings.
(Odds are you have DV settings). If so, read on:
    1. The DV format is very rigid. Meaning that if you
make changes to the format, it cannot export as
requested, because your movie file must match every
       single spec exactly.
    2. When Premiere goes to export a project, the DV codec
says "Whoa. I can't do anything, because the settings
       don't match."
    3. Then Premiere comes back to you and has to report an
error. (Don't shoot the messenger). Unfortunately,
Premiere doesn't know why it wasn't able to export a
movie. So it says to you, "Um... I can't make the movie.
Um... maybe your hard drives are full?"
It's a complete guess. And has nothing to do with your harddrives.
Check your project settings and/or your export settings. Make
sure you have chosen one of the "presets" that will specify
every correct setting for you. Make sure it is one of the DV
presets, if you are using DV video, or make sure it is one of
the presets supplied by your capture card manufacturer (in this
case I'm going to guess Pinnacle or Matrox.)
To choose a preset, go to Project > Settings Viewer, and then
click on the project settings column, and then click 'load' to
load a correct preset. Do the same with export settings.

  • Upon start up I get a start up disk full message and to delete files, now I only get a a blue screen on start up. How to I get past the blue screen and how do I delete files?

Upon start up I get a "start up disk full message, delete files". Now on startup I only get a blue screen. How do I get past the blue screen and how do I delete files.

That;s really not enough free space... you can use a tools such as OmniDiskSweeper to find out where your large files reside and begin pruning (or copying to an external if they're files that you want to keep).
One thing is certain - if you're going to continue your current usage you're certainly going to need to install a larger boot drive.

  • Usage meter counts while charging

This is my second iphone. My first one would not reach full charge and the usage meter never showed any statistics after a week of use.
This phone has been great with a few things wrong, one continues to be the battery meter. When charging sometimes the battery on the screen will be full, sometimes it isn't no real pattern. But the plug icon always shows up and the usage meter does reset. However I have noticed one thing.
On the times that the battery icon is not full but there is a plug icon indicating full charge, when I unplug the iphone and check the usage it will read usage and stand-by times that are often several hours but both are equal. Like this morning I got up and it read 3 hours 23 minutes on both usag and stand-by time.
Now on the few times that the battery icon actually gets full when I pick it up the usage meter reads 0 for both so it is correctly set.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or seen their usage meter start counting while the iphone is charging. It is very strange and confuses me.

Nathan, I'm afraid I don't understand your answer and hope you can clarify it.
According to the iPhone user manual (pp. 95-96), the numbers in the usage statistics mean the following:
∙ Amount of time iPhone has been unlocked and in use since the last full charge
∙ Amount of time iPhone has been in standby mode—locked but turned on—since the last full charge
If the phone becomes fully charged during the night and then just sits there in sleep mode, then the first number (unlocked and in use) should be zero. During that time, even if you argue that it's being "used" by watching for calls, it's not unlocked. This is not happening, however, for myself or the original poster. Rather, both meters appear to be showing standby time since fully charged with the wall charger.
When I then connect it to my computer in the morning and it again gets fully charged, which only takes a few minutes, the usage stats stay at 0 minutes for both numbers until I disconnect the iPhone from the computer. Even if I leave it there for an hour or more, it stays at 0/0 until I disconnect it.
Simply put, my iPhone behaves differently with respect to these usage statistics depending on whether I charge it with the wall charger or with my computer. This is a benign and easily-worked-around bug, but it is a bug nonetheless.

  • Startup Disk Full Message Keeps Occuring

I'm new at maintaining our Xserve here at work. It seems that each day the serevr gets incapacitated because the Startup Disk space fills up. I keep deleting log files and other files that are temporary, but to no avail. I can free a Gig or 2 then a day or two alter it's full again. Is there something wrong with the configuration?

You found a disk-full message and, well, piled onto the thread. OK. There's a decent shot that there is no connection to the previous disk-full error, too. If you lift the hood and look at the Unix layers, there are a large number of files being written, and many differing triggers for general or for excessive disk consumption.
As was mentioned earlier in the thread, this likely isn't specific to Xserve hardware, and this is probably a generic Mac OS X or Mac OS X Server issue, too; something occurring within the Unix layer of the platform. Something writing a log. Caching. A run-away process. Etc.
Get the [Grand Perspective tool|http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net> as a start. That can show you where your space is going.
Also launch Terminal.app and use the shell commands:
    find / -size 1k -print+
    sudo du -sHh /*
    mdfind 'kMDItemFSSize > 10000000'
The first shows files larger than 1K, the second shows disk space. There are commands around to sort this stuff, too; to rank your use as output by du. That last one, the mdfind command, is a (fast) Mac search command that works reasonably well as part of a pipe.
And 150 gigabytes? That's comparatively tiny. I'm running 750 GB drives on servers that are now three years old. Go get yourself actual disk storage devices. Smaller drives can sometimes be used for high performance, but SSD is infiltrating that usage. The tiny SAS disks that were sold with various Xserve boxes were built for speed and bandwidth (as HDDs go), and aren't so good for storage or for sharing the operating system installation with, for instance, users.
And if it's log files, have a look at what's going on as - as is typical with many of these cases - the log can be filling because there's an error somewhere. And the specific trigger for the error can by most anything. Do your due diligence as a Unix server administrator and find your big file(s) and have a look at what's going on with your Unix server, in other words.
Also try a few Google searches, as this problem is a common one, and there are any number of discussions around of various find and du and mdfind and other commands that can be used here. It'd be nice if there was an integrated and GUI-friendly mechanism within Mac OS X, but that's not available; it's add-on or Unix shell commands for now...

  • Usage meter change?

Can anyone help me with this? My usage about a half hour ago showed 3 hours, 33 minutes. I just checked it again, just kind of randomly, and it shows the usage at 1 hour 45 minutes! I restarted the phone, but it didn't change and am charging it now.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I posted this once already but it was deleted because it supposedly wasn't technical -- can't figure out how this isn't technical. I am trying to figure out if this is a bug or if it's something others have experienced. Please answer fast in case they delete it again. So much for a "discussion board" huh?

I've been monitoring my data usage and I haven't came across any errors, but the usage meter for time usage since last full charge can be wrong because mine has reset just from a quick charge but this has only happened once or twice.

  • Usage Meter Question

Ok, so I took the plunge on Tuesday and after a whole night of use I needed to recharge the battery on Wednesday morning. I was reading that the usage meter will turn on after the first complete charge cycle, so I was anxious to see this feature.
Charging went fine, and after it completed the phone did display usage and stand by time for a number of hours, until at some point late last night it suddenly went blank.
I haven't tried a new full charge since I haven't run the battery down that much at this point.
That being said I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue?? I searched the forums and saw some posts regarding the usage meter, but nothing like this.
The only thing that I did yesterday was turn the power off and back on, but I asked a friend to check this and the usage meter on the test phone kept clocking away.
    Thoughts???

    Hey djextort,
I actually posted a message like this but got no replies because no one had the same problem, but i guess there are a few people out there, I actually had the same problem when it randomly just started showing a few dashes, and after that I started having more problems. I got it to work by resetting it through iTunes and also by doing the whole reset through the phone, but days later the same problem occured, and i could never tell, eventually i started having battery problems and all that.
I actually just took it into the Apple store for the second time today, because the first time i took it in they did a instore reset, but what happened was that it showed i had 8 hours of usage time, with a full battery, right when i took it off the charger when i had fully charged it...
...the guys at the at Apple store ran some tests and found that it was a problem from the manufacturers, so they did the simple three day shipping of a new one, and I don't know if you're okay with that, but it worked out pretty well for me because they're sending me a whole new phone, thats my suggestion for you because it sounds like we had the same problem, and mine just progressively got worse.

  • DISK FULL WARNING, WHY?

I was getting the message "scatch disk full" so I went and got a brand new external drive.
In Preferences, the only box I have checked for CS5 to use as the scratch disk is the new external drive.
That the external drive is solely being used by CS5 has solved the scratch disk full problem, but...........
Apparently my C: drive is still being used somehow because now I get a warning that it is dangerously running low on space.
I assume that if the new external drive/scratch disk was tapped out, I would get the same old original message "scratch disk full".
What is going on here? Why so much need for space when the new external has 300gb dedicated solely to CS5?
If CS5 is using the external drive as a scratch disk, then what is it using an additional 35gb of space for on the drive that has my operating system?
I have 15gb of pagefile/swapfile space set aside on C:
Neither the 15gb pagefile, nor the 35gb of free space should be getting consummed.
I can understand that they would be used somewhat, for purposes that any program would use them for, but consuming them I do not understand.
    Thanks for your help

    Mr. Joslin,
I tried using Photomerge and then the ruler tool to create 360 degree panoramas comprised of 23 images.
Photomerge stitching works good enough but is a nuisance when it comes to getting the 1st image that starts the panorama to be on the left.
Then comes the ruler tool which levels the panoramas horizon just fine but crops the hell out of 'em.
I have not been able to figure out how to prevent the excessive cropping of the left and right sides.
I'm talking way, way, way more cropping than is needed, and my panoramas barely need any leveling to begin with.
They are practically horizontal, as is, after being merged.
So I have been trying to work out other approaches such as placing images right were I want them.
If I can place each image right were I want it, perfectly horizontal, then I can eliminate the use of the ruler tool and thus its excessive cropping.
Other people have suggested using PTAssembler instead of Photoshop.
That sounds worthy of a try but I have totally been sided tracked trying to solve my disk usage issues.
So side tracked that when you asked your question, I had to stop and think "that's right, what am I going through all this for?"
Anyway, I need to someday place the panoramas into a astronomical program called Voyager 4.5 which has stringent requirements.
The dimensions of the images placed therein have to have proportions of 2:1.
That being twice as wide as they are high, in other words, 360 degrees wide by 180 degrees high.
2:1 is the same dimensions as a sphere, the earth.
The equater is 360 degrees, while from north pole to south pole is 180 degrees.
I used a 105mm lense to shoot the images, so thus the reason why the 360 degree/equater spans approximately 60,000 pixles.
That my panoramas are so wide, but merely a little over 2,000 pixles high has forced me to create a canvas to place the images on that is huge.
Ultimately what I need to be placing in the Voyager program is an alpha layer that is 2:1.
A layer whose pixles above the horizon are transparent, Voyager being astronomical requiring the sky to be visible.
When placed, it will look like you are standing in your own backyard, or anywhere else for that matter, how about Stonhenge.
I know this is more than you bargained for when you asked why "such large pixel dimensions", but maybe I can ellicite further suggestions.
Suggestions besides my disk usage issues.

Actually this is the first time I'm attempting to upgrade the vCloud UM. The old appliance was a fresh install and that too was done by someone who is not in our system anymore. Also I haven't worked on Unix/Linux for ages so this kinds of freaking me out.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Usage Meter doesn't work

I have used my Iphone for one week now. It works great with one exception. The usage meter in the settings menu has never worked. I always get a full charge, but the meter never resets. Any ideas?

Have you tried resetting your phone? Hold down the sleep and home buttons for 10 seconds until the Apple logo shows up on the iPhone screen. Retry the charge and see if the usage meter resets.

  • Usage Meter/ Power off charging

    I have two questions.
    1) When does the usage meter reset? Every night I charge my iPhone and it'll say something like 65 hours after awhile, with a message of "iphone has been plugged in since last full charge." Does this mean i haven't fully charged only partially charged it? I seriously leave it on the hook for like 10 hours or so. I'm a student about to start classes so i'm sleeping in a lot.
    2) People keep posting to charge it while it's off to charge it faster for, lets say your leaving and it's almost dead. Can this be done? Everytime I plug my powered off iPhone into the dock connected to the wall charger it turns itself back on.

If your battery charges fully the usage meter will be at 0 and there will be no message stating the phone has been plugged in since the last charge. You need to fully charge the phone (make the lightning bolt symbol on the battery in the top right turn to a plug symbol) to reset the usage meters and reach a 'full charge'. You may want to try restoring your phone and adding the new update then charging the phone overnight with bluetooth and wifi off, but you don't 'need' to turn your phone off in order to completely charge it. My phone charges fully with bluetooth and wifi on.
Sometimes it seems like the counter starts in the middle of the night, I haven't had that happen recently so it might have just been some odd charging issue or it had downloaded some data that caused the charge to drop.
In short, plug it in and let it charge fully. If the counter doesn't reset after you have tried turning it off and charging it then do the restore/reset. If the counter still won't reset and you do not see the plug symbol call Apple.
The 'plugged in' message means that since you FULLY CHARGED the phone you have also put it in a dock. Sync it, leave it plugged in, or drop it in the cradle for a couple of seconds and you will get that message.
    Good Luck,

  • Error message ''Disk Full' when trying to export with CS6, works fine in 5.5

I get an error message when I try to export media in Premiere CS6 that I don't have in CS5.5
I use export media for a AVCHD 60fps sequence with a few photoshop images on top of the main track. In the export settings I choose ''match sequence settings'' which gives me a .mpeg I- frame, 1920 x 1080 P, 60fps, quality 50, and a I tick the ''use maximum render quality'' check box at the bottom.
It used to work fine but now I get a message: Disk Full where there is 1.5 TB free on the disk?
I have the exact same sequence made in Premiere Pro CS 5.5 and it exports fine.
It started to act weird after I used the queue for the first time and it went to the CS6 encoder.
Since I used that once and it gave me that message for the first time, even when I try to do the same thing directly in Premiere CS6 , I always get the same error message.
Question 2, is there a place to change the settings from 50 to 100 for the quality of this export profile?
By the way I can export with other profiles without problems but this setting is the only one that I've seen that lets me keep my 60 frames per second in the export
process. (Example: I can export this sequence in the H.264, 1920 x 1080, 30fps, high quality preset, using the maximum render quality in CS6)

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the input but if you read my message correctly and until the end I already can export to other settings and I want an answer to this problem. There's no logical explanation to why this suddenly wouldn't work with the same sequence that it used to do fine with and that CS 5.5 handles fine.
As I said earlier this is the only setting that lets me export my sequence with the 60 fps, that I know of, for further and easier manipulation. As my main camera provides me with these 60 fps I'd really like to be able to have them left in that transition phase and, no, I'm not gonna give up until I know, really, what's going on and solve that problem. If this is a bug it needs to be fixed, if not I want to know what's happening.
Also there's no answer to my question 2: Question 2, is there a place to change the settings from 50 to 100 for the quality of this export profile?
So for you experts out there the question is still hanging.

I've cleared almost 30 gig off of my hard drive in the past 2 weeks, and it will temporarily show that in the Get Info box.  But hours later, I am still getting a disk full error and all of the memory has disappeared.  I have cleared my backup logs from Time Machine, checked the mail folder, cleaned out tons of photos and videos and it still keeps filling back up.

Any ideas on what to do next?
    I'm running and iMac 20-inch  early 2009
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)

    Step 1
Quit Calendar. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a file named "Calendar Cache" selected.
Move the selected file to the Trash. There may be one or two other files in the same folder with names that begin in "Calendar Cache". If so, delete those files too.
    Step 2
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash as well:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Help: Premiere is making my startup disk full, but I set everything to go on an external hard drive.

The iMac I am using is for the sole purpose of editing and nothing else. I have no idea what is making my startup disk full, and I can not locate the files that are filling the startup disk except the fact that it is telling me I am running out of space. The startup disk is a 250GB SSD, the second internal drive is 1 TB HDD. All of my premiere and video files are loaded ton a 4TB G-RAID.

Do you have your projects set to use a drive other than startup?
My 3 hard drives to edit AVCHD are configured as...
    1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and ALL program installs
2 - 320Gig data for Win7 paging swap file and video project files
When I create a project on #2 drive, the various work files follow,
so my boot drive is not used for the media cache folders and files
3 - 1Terabyte data for all video files... input & output files
