On base 6.40 there were stopigs/startigs scripts, yes. When we upgraded our systems to 7.0 I encountered the same problem, the igs could be stopped, but not started anymore (externally). Can you check, if the startigs/stopigs-scripts are 7.0 or 6.40.
I then opened an oss and got as answer:
"To start and to stop the igs there's only the offical way by stopping and starting the sap system".
However I found a solution to start and stop:
start:
nohup /sapmnt/<SID>/exe/igswd_mt -mode=profile pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<Instaneprofile> &
e.g.:
nohup /sapmnt/P72/exe/igswd_mt -mode=profile pf=/usr/sap/P72/SYS/profile/P72_DVEBMGS01_migzmc10 &
stop:
--> stopigs, therefore the 6.40-stopigs script has to remain in the exe directory.

Cannot determine Internet graphics server on portal

Hi Experts,
We have installed BI server and EP (NW2004s). BI Java is installed on Portal.
While running the BI query from WAD, with a template, only the tabular data is displayed and we are unable to display the graphs. There is an error message in portal Cannot determine Internet Graphics server. Please let me know if there is any additional configuration to be done for this.

Check the following:
1. From portal system, Visual Administrator , server > services > Configuration Adapter.
Rightside > webdynpro >sap.com> tcwddispwda > property sheet default > give IGS URL .
http://<IGS server name>:4<nr>80
nr = instance number.
2. Try executing the report in BI "GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN" and check for the graphical ouput.
If the result is negative, check the RFC destination IGS_RFC_DEST.
Registered Server Program ID for the RFC (TCP/IP) should be of the format: IGS.<SID>

Internet Graphics Server

Hi
I've been advised by the basis team that an iChart on one of my pages is using too much CPU, and they suggest utilising the Internet Graphics Server (IGS), already running on our server. I've never heard of it, can MII use it?
I'm running v12.0.2 b88. The iChart in question is a custom chart, with a variance line, and stacked bars showing supply/demand (basically a graphical view of MD04, sorted by time period rather than WBS Element). For our most important materials it can get quite large!

You can learn about IGS [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmobile71/helpdata/en/17/86c039c7811f11e10000000a114084/frameset.htm]. As for performance gains, you need to trim your data set that is feeding the iChart. You can use Ryan's suggestion or you can create another MII object for more detailed material info. It depends on the user's requirements and what they want to see. MII is flexible enough to have a selection event in your chart populate another chart/grid for drill down purposes.

Graphics Server - CGI or OAS?

Is it possible to avoid using OAS when running Graphics Server?
Both Forms-server and Reports-server may be run using separate
services and enabled via CGI, but I haven't found any
information about running Graphics Server "outside" the OAS
(separate service instead of a cartridge within the OAS).

Hello,
For Reports 6i, the CGI is probably the most reliable across web listeners and it performs quite well. The servlet is available as an alternative, but performs no better (and potentially worse) than the CGI.
For the next major release (Reports 9i), the architecture has been revised and the servlet performs much better than the CGI.

I am new to this product.
I wanted to know how this product works when deployed on the web.
I want to create a graph in an html page based on sql query.
Does it generate gif on the fly?
Does it work as a java applet?
I read some doc's but I am still confused.

The graphic server is not supported anymore as a stand alone
product with developer 6i. you can run graphics on the web using
reports or forms that contain graphs.

Port for business graphics server

Hello,
I need to know on which port my business graphics server is running. I have administrator access to the web as but cannot use visual administrator due to security constraints.How do I see on which port business graphics server is installed or even see the listing of all services running on different ports using browser access to the Web AS?

CF 10 sp 12 Enterprise high CPU usage hangs services, 2012 server on 2012 Hyper-V host

The last 2 days - my [removed link] CF site has suffered from high CPU usage (on and off) that stops functionality.
This will last several minutes then suddenly the high usage stops a few minute later the high cpu usage starts again.
I don't have any scheduled processes allowed to run.
Restarting the coldfusion service during a high CPS incident - the cpu usage just picks up where it left off when restarted.
I have assigned 4 CPUs (normal) or 8CPUs (as a test) to the VM and I get the same high CPU then low usage. This is a fresh install several months ago on a new VM.
I'd like some Adobe support on this issue but can't seem to find the contact phone number.
This series of high and low cpu usage first started Monday AM about midnight until 7:00 AM Tuesday was quiet and Wednesday this AM I'm having the same issues.
Ideas?
Update: While waiting for this to post - the high CPU usage started again and this time I stopped and restarted the Jetty service ... and the CPU usage went away...
Update: the high cpu started again and a restart of the jetty service didn't help --- neither did the .net service restart... the cf10 application service did stop the high usage...

Need urgent help with RAID failure on Graphics server (running OSX10)

Hey.
Here's the deal... Our graphics department has a MAC G4 (fully upgraded. newest patches, OS, etc.) that's got a 4 port SATA RAID controller. They use this with four 750GB hard drives as an external RAID (the OS is on a seperate, 65GB hard drive). The way it's set up, through Apple's OS, is we have the four 750GBs in pairs... those pairs are striped, and then the two sets of striped 750s are mirrored. This has worked just fine for a number of months, but we recently had a power surge, and now we're unable to mount "Monkey" (the name of the 1.4TB array).

As you can see in this and the below screenshots, this shows the 1.4TB Striped set as 'online', but the two below (the two 750GB hard drives) show up as "offline".

If i click the entire array, you can see how it's set up (the Mirrored RAID set consisting of the two Striped RAID sets). The RAID sets (all 3 of them) are showing up as online, yet the drives are offline. No idea why. The drives are all powered, and are spinning, and plugged in.

when you click "Monkey Drive", nothing shows up in it. i don't remember if anything ever used to. if you click 'mount', nothing happens.

Really need help; this is a pretty critical problem. Someone that's familar with RAID solutions on MACs please help me out. We can't risk losing any data if at all possible.

Basic steps as how to web usage mine in sql server 2005

I am doing a project on web usage mining of my universities server logs and im just wondering how i go about mining them in sql server 2005?
Do i mine them in one table? do i normalise the web log data? what algorithms will i use on them as im trying to get usage patterns from the users and also where most of the users come from.

Here’re some thoughts that might help you design your Data Mining for weblogs:
1.     You can put the data in one or more tables as per the semantics of the data. Data which is an entity by itself should be put in a flat table with one key per entry (user sessions on the web server for example), whereas some data naturally will have a many to one relation with the primary data (page visits per session for example) and can be put in a separate table with primary/foreign key relationship. SQL Server 2005 will model them as case table/nested table for the purpose of mining.
2.     Normalize: Depends on what your data looks like. If you want to run clustering algorithm and your data has two attributes, A and B and A is 10 times more important than B, you should normalize accordingly. If the actual values of A are in order of thousand and actual values ob B are in order of tens and they are equally important, you should again normalize. However, if you want to use the as-is value without a weight, you do not have to normalize the data.
3.     Usage Patterns, like a sequence of page visits can be modeled using sequence clustering algorithm. User categorization based on attributes might be a clustering algorithm. If you have more information on what you want to find out, I might be able to suggest more specific choices.

Usage Tracking for BI Server Hosting Multiple Repositories

I've got my BI Server hosting two repositories:
[ REPOSITORY ]
DemoApp1 = DemoApp1.rpd, DEFAULT;
DemoApp2 = DemoApp2.rpd;
And started two Presentation Services connecting to these two repositories respectively, and two web front-ends at /analytics and /analytics2 to display the two different catalogs.
Next, I enabled usage tracking with direct insert to the following physical table:
PHYSICAL_TABLE_NAME = "OBIEEREP".""."OBIEEREP"."S_NQ_ACCT" ;
CONNECTION_POOL = "OBIEEREP"."Connection Pool" ;
Both repositories has the above physical table and connection pool defined. In DemoApp1.rpd, "OBIEEREP"."Connection Pool" points to a database OBIEEDB1, and in DemoApp2.rpd, it points to a database OBIEEDB2.
But then the problem occurs. All usage tracking data are inserted to OBIEEDB1 only, no matter which web front-end they are from. I tried removing the "DEFAULT" from NQSConfig.ini, but this doesn't help.
Is there any way to configure BI Server to insert usage tracking data from /analytics to OBIEEDB1, and those from /analytics2 to OBIEEDB2?

That's probably just a side-effect of having two repositories. Keep in mind that having multiple repositories and multiple presentation servers is not support by Oracle, so they were not on the hook to modify the Usage Tracking algorithm to write to two different databases. It seems to me like they either didn't anticipate this scenario, or they didn't want to program for this scenario.
I don't think you have too many options in terms of making OBIEE insert the traffic logs into the appropriate database. However, once the data has been inserted, you can do just about anything you want to it in terms of ETL, triggers, materialized views, etc.
Here's what I would recommend:
1) Have the OBIEE usage tracking information logged into a neutral schema.
2) Write a materialized view in database 1: CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW S_NQ_ACCT AS SELECT * from S_NQ_ACCT@NEUTRAL_SERVER WHERE REPOSITORY_NAME = 'DemoApp1'
3) Write a materialized view in database 2: CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW S_NQ_ACCT AS SELECT * from S_NQ_ACCT@NEUTRAL_SERVER WHERE REPOSITORY_NAME = 'DemoApp2'
You can specify the refresh frequency of these materialized views to be as frequent as you want. The great thing about this strategy is that you get the best of all worlds. Each database has the traffic information broken down by their personal RPD. But the neutral schema can provide Global reporting across both repositories which can be very valuable itself.

Evenlog viewing causes CPU usage 100% on Windows server 2008 SP2

We have Windows server 2008 SP2 with strange behaviour. When I scroll down events in eventlog viewer CPU usage hits 100% and eventlog viewer freeze. CPU usage is split between 2 processes SVCHOST.EXE (lmhosts, eventlog and Dhcp services) and MMC.EXE.
1)I tried to replace eventlog files with new ones. That didn’t helped
2)After server clean boot problem still exist.
3)When CPU hits 100% usage process explorer shows that from SVCHOST.EXE process CPU is used by service EventLog.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Windows event log service has couple of dependencies i.e. task scheduler and windows event collector service. Can try restrating those services ?
In addition to above, try following steps
Change NTFS permission of %WINDIR%\System32\WinEvt\Logs directory, add Local Service and
Network Service, give them FULL permissions.
Stop and Start event viewer service by running following command
net stop eventlog && net start eventlog
Issues like this might occur if the disk (FC or iSCSI SAN or even NAS) has some inconsistencies , this is true in case of both physical and virtual machines
You might want to try running chkdisk as well on the server in question

Enabling OBIA Usage tracking in Unix server.

I am working in OBIA project where I need to enable Usage Tracking. I have done it successfully in my local machine which is in Windows OS. But when I deployed the same Repository in Unix server its not working.I have enabled the Usage Tracking in NQSConfig.INI and set the connection pool properly for Usage Tracking table.
When I am looking at the server log file, the Usage Tracking subject area is loading properly. But I am not able to understand what additional setting i need to do in Unix server to make it enable.
Please help me in resolving the isssue.

If you have that ...Did you deploy the usage tracking catalog in your
instance config file...only after that you will be able to see the preseeded
usage tracking dashboard

How to calculate memory usage base on graphic utilization

We have t2000 server with solaris 10 and 15 zones inside , and install SMC server include module ,Harddware configuration is 16 Gb Memory , 4 x 72 gb Hardisk and Swap 4Gb .,from menu Manage container manager , we select host of the server then click utilization , but i see memory usage 19759 Mb , How to calculate memory from this graph ? cause maximum ream RAM only 16 Gb in our server.

PL/SQL collections are stored in the PGA. So you can monitor the PGA utilization of the session(s) to see how much PGA they use.
SELECT sid, name, value
FROM v$statname name
JOIN v$sesstat using (statistic#)
WHERE name.name in ('session pga memory', 'session pga memory max' )That will show you, for each session, the current PGA consumed by the session and the high water mark of PGA consumption by that session. You can join to V$SESSION and add additional predicates to narrow things down to the particular sessions you are interested in.
