Usage of Leopard, Tiger and olders versions

Hello,
For my study I'm searching for information of the usage of Leopard and older version of MAC OSX. Has anyone an idea?
I can't find anything usefull on google
Regards,

First that article was written a few years ago. The prices of external drives has dropped much since then.
The flaw in what the article purports is that when the internal drive crashes, usually everything is lost. Even a corrupt boot sector or partition table or even a bad install can turn the drive into a boat anchor. And backing it up would require a separate backup for each OS and each partition.
It might sound convenient, and it is, until the HD fails and then it's a disaster.
I have Tiger on an external drive which is very small and if I wish, I can take it with me. It also serves as storage for other data and for TM.
The general rule of not putting all your eggs in one basket certainly applies here.
What you plan will probably work, but it is not something I would ever recommend or do myself.
On my PCs, I used to partition my drive so I could run Windows and Linux. I had multiple partitions for the several parts of Linux that can exist in their own partitions. When harddrives became inexpensive I installed a second drive for Linux and unpartitioned my original drive for Windows only. It's not only simpler, it's much safer.
This is only my recommendation, and nothing else. Maybe we all have to do things like this once. Just be careful and remember you must be very careful not to ever crash any of the partitions.

  • How do I find and older version of instagram for iOS 6.1.6

How do I find and older version of instagram for 4th generation touch iOS 6.1.6?

In iTunes on your computer, download the App you want a compatible version for using the same Apple Id that the iPod has for the App Store. For Paid Apps its best to consult with the App maker to make sure there is a compatible App. With the App Downloaded to iTunes on a computer you can go into The App Store App on your iPod, Tap on Purchased, and Look for the App there. Tap on it to begin the download. It will likely say its not compatible, but if there is a compatible version it will offer to download it.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Can I buy and older version of Indesign

    Hi
The latest version of Indesign is to expensive for me. Could I buy an older version somewhere?
    Thanks for your response
    Elisabeth

You can try Amazon or other third party retailers - but be sure to check they are a valid Adobe retailer as there are scam sites out there.
Also - if you're a student you can get the Student and Teacher Price which is a lot cheaper than the full version, however the EULA stipulates different uses for commercial and private use depending on your locale - check the EULA before purchasing if you intend to use it commercially.
InDesign Creative Cloud is also available - it's a pay per month or an annual subscription.
And you don't have to get the entire suite you can get just InDesign for a small fee for a month, or subscribe for a small fee for the year.

  • Diadem 9.1 SP2 and older versions of Diadem

The instructions for installation of Service Pack 2 (german) contains:
"Uninstall earlier DIAdem versions before you install DIAdem Service Pack 2. Do not install DIAdem in a folder where an earlier DIAdem version is installed."
I have to use several versions of Diadem on the same computer because I have to service different test stands with different versions of Diadem (version 8.x and 7.x). What does this instruction mean to me? Can I install and use Diadem 9.1 SP2 together with older versions of Diadem or is it impossible now ?
"The program for uninstalling DIAdem Version 9.1 also uninstalls the associated license files. Therefore, you must reactivate your license after you install the upgrade if you have a license for a single workstation."
Do I have to uninstall the current version (9.1 SP 1b) for installing SP2 ? I can't belive it.
    Martin Bohm
    [email protected]

The DIAdem 9.1 SP2 is a complete DIAdem installer. It includes a lot of changes to several DIAdem system files so they could not just simply be replaced as with smaller service packs. DIadem 9.1 can not exist twice on your harddisk, that is why you need to deinstall former DIAdem 9.1 versions. This is not affecting DIAdem 9.0, 8.1 and beyond.
If you are using a single seat license, you are assuming correctly, the newly installed DIAdem 9.1SP2 needs to be licened again. Just proceed in the same way, using the same s/n, you did licensing your DIadem 9.1 version. In case you are using a volume license manager this is not neccessary.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Retrieve and older version in BRF+

The document "Business Rules Framework plus u2013 The Very Basics" says:
Versioning enables users to track the changes done in the BRFplus objects. If the versioning button is switched on, each time an object is saved and activated, a new version instance for the object is generated automatically. With versioning, it is also possible to run older versions of an object at a given time point. A typical use case would be the change in a policy with the requirement that older data still needs to be processed in the earlier way and new data shall be processed according to the new policy
Can we retrieve an older version and activate it automatically? I can't see any button in "Versions"  that can do that when there are more than one version: I only see "Compare", "Copy version", "Compare more", "Expand all", "Collapse all". I think about a button like "Retrieve" (Versions --> Versions management) in ABAP Workbench (SE38).
    Thanks.

    Hi Carsten,
I create a customizing transport order with tcode SE09.
I create an application in BRF+ with storage type "customizing" with the transport request created in the previous step.
In the application, I set versioning mode to "Versioning is on for processing-relevant objects" and "set versioning on".
From the application, I create a data object (element type text).
I activate the data element and I change its element type to "number".
Now, I have two versions of the data element. I select the first version and click on "copy version".
A pop up says "Do you want to include child objects?". I click on "Yes".
An error message is shown: "No Customizing transport request supplied".
But I supplied a customizing transport request.
Can you help me about this error message?
    Thanks.

  • Firefox and adobe flash do work together and older versions of flah do not exist anymore

i will try this one last time. the current version of firefox does not allow me to view videos from u tube or other sources. the solutions i have been offered is to downgrade to previous versions of adobe flash. the issue is: ADOBE NO LONGER ALLOWS ONE TO DOWNLOAD and RUN OLDER VERSIONS OF FLASH. if you follow all the steps you get a message that there is a new version of flash. yes it will download but when u try to install it the message i mentioned appears.. please please try yourself and see.
can naoyone offer a solution that will work now?
    thanks

There are several problems with the newest Adobe Flashplayer. Adobe is working to fix the problems. You can check for problems and possibly downgrade Flash to version 11.2 or 10.3.

  • Acrobat Javascript and older versions of Reader

    Hi,
I have created a basic Acrobat Javascript for my PDFs which reside at the document level.
What i want to know is, how backwards compatible is Acrobat Javascript? Will it work in older versions of Adobe Reader?
I have not managed to find much on this so any info would be appreciated.  I just need to make sure the script runs to all my users regardless of what version of reader they are using.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.

In addition to George's statement, you might also check the JavaScript version a specific Acrobat version supports; there have been a few useful changes in Core JavaScript 1.7 and 1.8 (in the Array object), which may prevent your script running properly in Acrobat 7 (and older).
On the other hand, with the exception of "security" annoyances, old code (developed in Acrobat 4 or so) usually still works in Acrobat 10. This means, that you can program for a specific Acrobat version, and it should be fine with several newer versions as well. If not sure, check the documentation (mentioned by George) and try it out.

  • How do I get different and older versions of java plugin to work

I want to use firefox at my work, my company uses a program that uses java. But the programmers at my company aren't really good and when they check for the java plugin they check for the specific jre-6u21 instead of the generic with 6uXX. Sometimes I have to use another version of the program that requieres Version=1,4,2,06. They work fine with iexplorer.
If I update to the current version (update 24) Firefox can't find the plugin. Explorer just gives a warning that you might be missing important security updates.
Can Firefox give a warning or run with the latest version instead of looking for the missing plugins?

This is what Oracle has to say about the problem: [http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/other_jreversions.xml Download older versions of Java]
If you install an older version in Firefox it will be listed in Tools | Add-ons | Plugins and you can disable it there. But as Oracle mentions, using older versions potentially exposes your system to attack such as the one mentioned here: [http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Java-SE-6-Update-24-fixes-floating-point-bug-1190818.html Floating Point Bug]

  • New Airport extreme dual band and older version.

I purchased a new dual band Airport Extreme base station.
How can I make use of an older version of the Airport Extreme 802.11n (non dual band) in my network?
Can I hook the 2 up together to boost up the range or coverage of the network?
If so, how far apart do they have to be?
Also, does the main AEBS have to be as close possible to the modem in order to work better? my modem is in the basement in the mecanical room. What would be the best to get the best signal througout my house?

Hello mike1970. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
How can I make use of an older version of the Airport Extreme 802.11n (non dual band) in my network?
Two examples would be: 1) Connect the old AEBSn to the new one by Ethernet, and then, configure them for a "roaming" network. In this type of network allow you to roam with a portable wireless device and still be on the "same" network, and 2) Configure the old AEBSn to extend the wireless range of the newer one in what is called a dynamic WDS. The major difference between a WDS and the roaming configuration is that the two base stations would not need to be interconnected by Ethernet.
Can I hook the 2 up together to boost up the range or coverage of the network?
Yes, both only one of the newer AEBSn's wireless radios. Most likely, it would need to be the 2.4 GHz radio as the signal can travel farther and not be impacted by objects ... like walls.
If so, how far apart do they have to be?
That would depend on what would be between them. In a room with no Wi-Fi obstacles, you could probably place the second AEBSn 50-75 feet away to boost the signal another 50-75 feet.
Also, does the main AEBS have to be as close possible to the modem in order to work better?
    No.
my modem is in the basement in the mecanical room. What would be the best to get the best signal througout my house?
The best way would be to have the house wired for Ethernet, and then, place a Wireless Access Point (WAP) at each location that you would want wireless coverage.

  • Background graphics and link icons do not display even after downgrading flash, emptying cache, reinstalling recent and older versions of firefox

sometime today, firefox 14 began not displaying the background graphics and link icons on every site I went on from my laptop. It would display this information when I changed the rendering engine to the explorer platform. I have removed the flash player 11.3 from the computer; re-installed flash 10.3 recommended from the troubleshooting page; restarted the computer; same problem. Did the same with the Java plug-in with the same result. Disabled all extensions and restarted Firefox with no change. Examined the sites on a different laptop using version 10 of Firefox and everything worked fine! Reloaded older version of Firefox on original laptop, restarted computer, same problem on older version. Updated to latest revision, listed below, and same problem. Went to desktop computer using version 14, and same thing is happening there also. (I have not done anything to this system yet.)

All of the items contained in both of the reference documents were already active on each system. I have created a zip file with four screen capture pictures showing what I'm dealing with. The first picture shows what the site looked like yesterday morning; the second shows what happened when I refreshed the screen this morning; the third shows what happened when I switched the rendering engine on the same tab this morning; the fourth shows what happen when the tab was switched back to original rendering engine. The file is at:
    [http://charisacademy.org/pictures.zip This location]
Please consider this for a moment: I am having to answer these questions from you using my iPad because the graphics at the top of this window which control the type-input will not display in Firefox while the post buttons will. Let me know if you can't get the picture file and I'll find another way to get it to you.
