Usage of LOGO of  OTN

I am a member of OTN for last 4 years and I would like to print the LOGO of OTN on my Letterhead. I am also a Oracle Certified DBA which allows me to use the respective logo on my Visiting Cards, or the letterhead.
I would like to ask you that whether Oracle Technology Network gives me permission to use the OTN logo on my letterhead and Visitig card.
I would be highly obliged if I get the Permission.

  • Migration from SQL Server 7 to oracle 8.1.7 on windows 2000 professional

    Hello All,
    I am currently working on Database migration from sql server 7 to oracle 8.1.7.
    My setup is as follows:
    1. Both the databases (sql server and oracle are on the same machine )
    2. My sql server database contains 200 tables and 190 stored procedures, which need to be migrated to oracle.
    When i am trying to capture the Source database details, its capturing evry thing but when its mapping at the end ...it says "MAPPING ROLE PUBLIC" and its not proceeding furthur..What do u want me to do ? i waited for approx 1 hr , still its not proceeding....How to resolve this bug ?
    Also please suggest me the best methodology for Migrating the stored procedures. allmost all my stored procedures have TEMP Tables implemented in it. Please help me in this...
    Also please let me know the Timeframe estimate for this total thing to be done..

  • Publish a digital brochure for car manufacturer? Allowed?

    I got a great idea, to digital making a digital brochure for a car manufacturer. Yes ofcource the brand has to give the OK on this. But my doubts are, is iTunes U allowing me to publish a digital document aka brochure for promoting a carbrand and it's cars. Because i see great oppertunities to do so on the iBooks/Author. However i allready tried some emailing back and forth and just keep getting 'relatively' standard answers back, and they all point out at educational guidelines and usage of logos and such.
    Can somebody shed some light on this?

    You seem confused.
    iBooks2 and the iBooks author are perfect for creating rich, interactive books. Sure, you can use that.
    iTunes U... notice the "U" there? That stands for University. This is a service geared toward Higher Education. Not a commercial entity.
    You can use the tools to author a book, but you need to look elsewhere to distribute the book. iTunes U is not appropriate for that. Good luck!

  • Sizing a logo for a client, when they aren't sure of intended usage

    Hello,
    Can anyone tell me a good "rule of thumb" when designing a logo for someone who isn't sure what size that they would want to use that logo in the future? If they don't know what print size they may want (business card size or larger sign size) - what size is best to give them AND if they don't know what web size they need, what size is good to give them where they have room to resize? What format is best, Ai? or pdf?
    This is especially a concern if the logo is made in Photoshop. Any suggestions on standard sizing or standard practice in this case ? Gratitude in advance - K-

    Generally I would save the logo at any size that fits on a letter size sheet of paper so that the client can easily print it on nearly any desktop printer as is. If you are submitting an Illustrator *.ai or EPS file without any linked or embedded bitmap images, then you don't need to worry about the final size in its various applications, because it will scale without loss of resolution. It can be used for a business card or a billboard.
    If it's done in Photoshop, then you may want to start with a master file that has enough ppi resolution to suit the logo's biggest size of application. Then you or the client can downsample from there. (But since we're in an Illustrator forum and not a Photoshop forum, I'll show my Illustrator bias here and recommend using Illustrator for logo work whenever possible ;-)
    Always handy to give a client a PDF and JPEG version in addition to the .ai and/or .eps files in case they don't have Illustrator or a Postscript printer.
    Others may have standard practices to suggest.

  • Apple logo interrupts usage CONSTANTLY

    I just got an iPod replacement last week when the jack on my first one went bad. This new one has some issues though, because a lot of the time when I am listening to a song and use the click wheel or buttons to make a move, the apple logo appears, my music goes off, and I have to wait 10 or so seconds and then scroll all the back through the menu to get to what I was listening to. It does this probably 75% of the time that I touch any button or the click wheel. Sometimes I don't even have to touch a button for the stupid logo to appear. I tried resetting, but that was pointless.
    Any ideas on what this is about?

    This just happened to mine too!
    this first happenned after I updated my iPod mini with the current updater (January 2006). Some songs just didn't play and it restarted itself everytime I tried to play those songs. This was annoying so I tried restoring it with the older version of updater (which was in my labtop) and it's OK. But everytime I connect my iPod with my PC, there was a ~ new updater available~, so I decided to give it a try and I updated my iPod again. And the problem occurred yet again! So I restored it using the new version of updater and it's OK for one or two days and just an hour ago I noticed there was something wrong again. Just the same.
    I HATE this. There must be something wrong with the new version of updater. It take a lot of time to put songs in my iPod..
    Anybody knows what the problem is??? Please correct it!
    I don't want to restore my iPod again and again.
    (and I just erased the old updater in my labtop yesterday.... how sad..)

  • IMac 27" does not show "apple logo" on boot, keeps on restarting.

    Hello there is something wrong with my girlfriend's iMac.
    She has the iMac 27" 2.8GHz, Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM
    She bought it two days ago, it gave her problems last night (after less than a day of usage), when she tried to call the call center, it was closed. We're bringing it down to the nearest service centre tomorrow but in the mean time I want to see if I can get any help here.
    What happened was: She was using it and the screen suddenly turned white half way. Nothing else was on the screen, just one entire white patch. Not even the cursor showed up. So she decided to force shut-down. But when she started it up again, she couldn't even get to the screen which showed the apple logo. The iMac just continued restarting itself, giving me the start up sound, the "boonngggg" sound that all Macs give when they boot up.
    The situations is similar to holding Command-Option-R-P (resetting PRAM) but this time the iMac doesn't even get to the apple logo, and if it's powered on, the restarting continues on its own.
    I have surfed the web quite a bit and haven't found a problem similar to this one (except some which suggest Logic Board failure).
    What can I do now?

    You can't do anything now, if you purhcased it directly from Apple contact them immediately and advise them of the problem. They will allow her to return for exchange however they will need to run it through diagnostics first. The other avenue with them is to return for refund and then re-order however this is more time consuming because she will not receive a credit until the old machine is returned.
    Also she can call AppleCare in the morning and they can also try some diagnostics.
    Finally she can run Apple Hardware Test in extended mode to see if there are any hardware problems.

  • My mac won't turn on again, it just shows the apple logo and some code

    My mac was freezing up a bit while trying to get onto lanaboards.com so I decided to restart it. I figured i might as well update it at the same time. So i did that and chose the restart option that comes up when you update. It seemed like the update went through, but then it told me that it couldn't update but i was asked if i wanted to restart it, so i did. For some reason it didn't restart for a couple of minutes so i turned it off by pressing the on/off button. When i turned it back on it made the sound and then the grey background with the Apple logo appeared. Suddenly this code comes up using the word "panic" a couple of times. I'm not gonna type the whole thing cause it's kina long. It also says "Mac OS version: not yet set" (maybe cause i tried to update?) and "Kernel version: David Kernel version 12.2.1" It also says "debugger called: <panic>"
    I won't be able to get it to the apple store for a week because everything closes down on thursday because of Easter and the buses seem to not go tomorrow and no one can drive me. I hope there's something i can do cause i have an important exam (100% of my grade) in two weeks so I'm freaking out a bit here. I also have some stuff due next week that just went up.
    I really hope someone can help me, or at least know what may be the problem.
    PS. I'm not 100% sure which operating system I have so i chose what i assume is the second newest iOS cause I know i have iOS at least
    PS 2: My hard disc crashed about two months ago and was fixed at my local apple supplier, if that may have anything to do with the matter.

    you are not in MacBook Pro forum, so might be harder to swap out and replace hard drive but  you should definitely have had them do that or even yourself.
    Make sure you are at least using TimeMachine AND another backup method to clone your system drive so you always have a working 'spare' backup drive you can boot and work from - USB3 is good, TimeMachine even works decently for some on USB 2.0
    Finding out why and troubleshooting a panic is a matter of trial and error after taking a look at what hardware, what software you installed (and some of which should be removed), even whether it is triggered by heat from processor or RAM (memory) errors, and memory errors can be triggered by software.

    There’s trouble in my laptop paradise. I ended that with this caveat:
    It’s much more comfortable to type on the 2011 model, with one big exception: the 2011 model runs much hotter.
    I need more time to form a concrete opinion, but it seems so far that this CPU’s awesome performance definitely comes at a cost of increased heat and reduced battery life. For my intended usage as a desktop most of the time, that’s an acceptable tradeoff.
    This turned out to be worse than I thought it would be, and today, the last day of my return period, I decided to return it and exchange it for a slower model.
    The problem
    Not only does the 2011 15” MacBook Pro run much hotter than previous generations, but as a result, the fans very frequently kick up to full speed (6200 RPM), greatly annoying anyone in the area who’s not wearing headphones.
    I’ve done a lot of Google research and impromptu Twitter surveys, and this seems like a very common problem, exacerbated by a number of factors:
    The quad-core i7 CPUs in the 15” run very hot, with a TDP of 45W, 10W higher than the previous dual-cores. Many people speculate that the 15” case and fan design just isn’t designed for CPUs that need this much cooling regularly.
    The Core i7 CPU can use Intel’s Turbo Boost to dramatically overclock one CPU core to handle single-threaded loads whenever power and heat allow. It therefore hits its maximum TDP often when just one core is being maxed out, such as when Spotlight or Backblaze index new files, or when Time Machine is backing up.
    The 2.2 and 2.3 GHz 15” models come with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M GPU, which adds significant heat. Modern 15” MacBook Pros dynamically switch between the low-powered Intel integrated GPU and the high-powered (and hot) AMD GPU as needed by applications, but the AMD GPU will always be used when an external monitor is connected — the Intel integrated GPU cannot output video over the Thunderbolt port in the 15”. (Oddly, it can in the 13” MacBook Pro and both MacBook Airs.)
    It generates so much heat that it can’t be used in “clamshell mode” (closed, but with an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor attached), which has reduced airflow, without risking overheating, kernel panics, and possible long-term damage. I can’t see why Apple even enabled clamshell mode on it.
    Some people report issues with the battery draining while playing a game. The 15” MacBook Pro comes with an 85W power adapter, but when stressing the CPU and GPU (such as when playing a game), the laptop draws about 93W — I don’t know enough about the electronics here to say for sure, but an insufficient power adapter capacity sounds like a plausible reason why the battery might drain under high computational load. If so, this is an embarrassing oversight by Apple.
    The thermal paste seems to be very inconsistently applied, or there’s some other common manufacturing defect with the cooling system that varies per laptop. Many, many people reported having these issues and exchanging the laptop for a new one that shows far fewer issues. Many dedicated tinkerers have also reported success after reapplying the thermal compound between the CPU and heatsink, but that requires a very deep, warranty-voiding disassembly that I’m not comfortable doing. (I also haven’t owned thermal paste since 2001.)
      Put simply, it sounds like the 2011 15” MacBook Pro has a lot of manufacturing inconsistencies and defects that result in improper cooling. But it also sounds like Apple wedged far too much power draw and heat into an enclosure that’s not designed to properly cool or power these demands.  It’s not like Apple to release products like this.
    But if I can get one working within my tolerances, it’s still the perfect computer for me right now. So I’m trying.
    The attempted solution
    Tonight, after requesting the return on my 2.3, I ordered a new, slower model that’s likely to run cooler with less fan noise. It’s the base-model 15”, but with an antiglare (matte) display added:
    AMD Radeon HD 6490M: It’s manufactured on the same 40nm process as the 6750M, but has far less computational power, so I’m guessing this will result in much lower power consumption and heat.
    2.0 GHz quad-core i7: This is the only CPU available with the 6490M. While I don’t expect it to be dramatically cooler-running than the 2.3 since it’s specced with the same 45W TDP, it does have a lower clock and lower Turbo Boost speeds, so I can probably expect an approximately proportional heat reduction.
    So I’ll see what happens. I’m not sure what I’ll do if it doesn’t work out. This generation of 15” MacBook Pros has a lot of problems, and Apple really needs next year’s cooler-running Ivy Bridge processors as soon as possible.

  • How do i find out what is in the 'other' section of the usage bar

    i have 8gb 2nd gen touch. I have cleared all data i can see and deleted photos and music however the usage bar still tells me as well as 3gb apps I have 4gb other. Where is this other and how do I free it up?

    Actually, I think the problem may be a software issue. Maybe becuase of the iPod the reason being that it is very old considering that it is 2nd generation. But nevertheless I will help you out.
    Instructions:
    To restart iPod touch, first turn iPod touch off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPod touch will turn off after a few moments.
    Next, turn iPod touch on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Is iPod touch not responding? To reset iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.

  • *Fix* Usage and Standby Times are the same - iPhone 4S 7.0.4

    I'd like to share my experience here because I actually found the solution on here but I'm actually having trouble finding it again.
    I had three problems:
    1. My standby and usage times were always reporting the same values, thus draining my battery faster than usual. This is not normal behavior; whenever the screen is off it should report standby times, and after the phone is unlocked it is considered usage. They should never be recording in tangent.
    2. Whenever I would try to turn off my phone by holding down the power button, the phone would basically restart itself, showing the Apple logo boot screen and then restarting. The only caveat was that it would turn off if it was plugged in and being charged. But take it off the charger and try to replicate it turning off and it would restart.
    3. The sound would sometimes think that it was connected to a Dock, so when I went to the Airplay options, they were listed as Dock Connector, Airport Express and Apple TV. There would be no volume slider in the Control Center, and when pressing the volume buttons, there would be no dots, just the bell with a line through it.
    Many people might be having genuine battery issues, where you have an older phone and your battery is just really bad and needs to be replaced. My 4S was still under AppleCare in December 2013 and the battery was pretty bad, so I had it replaced in an Apple Store. So for me, the battery life itself was not the problem.
    I tried a lot of things to try and fix the above problem but none of them helped. This includes chatting with Apple support (I was surprised they didn't steer me in an obvious direction, considering the large amount of folks who were having these kinds of problems, but they played dumb), restoring fresh and restoring icloud and itunes backups, all kinds of combinations of settings for Mail, iCloud, etc., but nothing worked. I probably restored my phone at least ten times in my troubleshooting efforts. The isolated test of restoring my phone fresh, setting it up to the start screen, making sure the battery was charged 100% and taking it off the charger waiting about 10 minutes. Then I would check standby and usage times.
    I had read about fixes for the phone not being able to turn completely off, and it had something to do with cleaning the charging port. I attempted to clean the port with compressed air and other methods, but it never fixed this problem. Then I read a post on Apple Support about a guy who had the exact same problems as I did, then said he changed out his charging port and this fixed it. Well, it was $40 so I paid someone to do it in 45 minutes.
    After I got my phone back the problem didn't appeared to be fixed, but after a restore and even with an icloud backup restored with it, I looked down at my phone and presto chango, the times where separate and working as they should. Last night with wifi off while I was sleeping, the battery only went down 3%. I know this is turning out to be a narrative, but I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was and it was a frustrating process. I'm happy it's resolved.
    Apple Support thought it was a corrupt install package from iTunes, or some kind of software glitch or maybe some part of iCloud constantly trying to call home, but it was a combination of both hardware and software. Because of the bad charging port, for some reason the phone thought it was still being used and thus was still treating standby as usage.
    I would encourage those that are having this problem to do a test and see if your phone will turn off when you want it to. If it resets automatically and if your standby usage times are the same, replacing the charging port might fix it.

    Ever since iOS7.0.6. and still on iOS7.1 both me and my wife had huge battery drain on our iPhone 4S and stand-by was equal to usage time. We finally found the solution to a post of another user on the Dutch Tweakers forum. There seem to be a bug within a certain Dutch coupon app called 'Scoupy' which drained the battery completely although GPS setting was turned of and also 'refresh on background' was off.
    Scoupy said that a fix for their app is send for approval to the App Store. We removed the app and our usage/stand-by time is again as normal (higher stand-by time then usage time) and best of all a 'normal' battery use as it was the case on iOS7.0.4. I hope this could help someone. I'm wondering if the iBeacon changes in iOS7.0.6/7.1 together with a bug in the Scoupy app could be the cause? Maybe this is also with our similar apps you have on your phone.

  • Camera roll usage - too high

    The camera roll, on my iPad2, is showing 3.8GB usage, even though it is empty!  I have followed all advice seen on forums and discussions, except a restore, as I don't want to loose children's in-app work.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Did you reset your iPad? First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • 100% CPU Usage Overhead running EM DBConsole 11g on OEL-5.2

    After upgrading to OEL-5.2 and relinking all Oracle binaries, my old Oracle 11g installation, installed several months before on OEL-5.1, has been working well, including Enterprise Manager Database Console working nicely as always with respectful performance. Unfortunatelly, it lasted just several days.
    Yesterday I decided to uninstall the 11g completely and perform new clean installation (software and database) with the same configuration options and settings as before, including EM dbconsole, all configured using dbca. After completing the installation (EM was started automatically by dbca), oracle continued to suck 80-85% CPU time. In further few minutes CPU utilization raised up to 99% due to only one (always the same PID) client process - "oracleorcl (LOCAL=NO)". For first ten minutes I didn't care too much since I always enable Automatic Management in dbca. But after two hours, I started to worry. The process was still running, consuming sustained 99% of CPU power. No other system activity, no database activity, no disks activity at all!
    I was really puzzled since I installed and reinstalled the 11g at least 20 times on OEL-5.0 and 5.1, experimenting with ASM, raw devices, loopback devices and various combinations of installation options, but never experienced such a behaviour. It took me 3 minutes to log in to EM dbconsole as it was almost unusable performing too slow. After three hours CPU temperature was nearly 60 degrees celsius. I decided to shutdown EM and after that everything became quiet. Oracle was running normally. Started EM again, the problem was back again. Tracing enabled, it filled a 350 MB trace file in just 20 minutes. Reinstalling the software and database once again didn't help. Whenever EM is up, the CPU usage overhead of 99% persists.
    Here is a cca 23 minutes session summary report taken from EM dbconsole's Performance page. The trace file is too big to list it here, but it shows the same.

    Has anyone experienced this or similar behaviour after clean 11g installation on OEL-5.2? If not, anyone has a clue what the hell is going on?

    Hi Tommy,
    I didn't want to experiment further with already working OEL-5.2, oracle and dbconsole on this machine, specially not after googling the problem and finding out that I am not alone in this world. There are another two threads on OTN forums (Database General) showing the same problem even on 2GB machines:
    DBConsole easting a CPU
    11g stuck. 50-100% CPU after fresh install
    So, I took another, a smaller free machine I've got at home (1GB RAM, 2.2MHz Pentium4, three 80GB disks), on which I used to experiment with new releases of software (this is the machine on which I installed 11g for the first time when it was released on OEL-5.0, and I can recall that everything was OK with EM). This is what I did:
    1. I installed OEL-5.0 on the machine, adjusted linux and kernel parameters, and performed full 11g installation. Database and EM dbconsole worked nice with acceptable performance. Without activity in the database, %CPU = zero !!! The whole system was perfectly quiet.
    2. Since everything was OK, I shutdown EM and oracle, and performed the full upgrade to OEL-5.2. When the upgrade finished, restarted the system, relinked all oracle binaries, and started oracle and EM dbconsole. Both worked perfectly again, just as before the upgrade. I repeated restarting the database and dbconsole several times, always with the same result - it really rocks. Without database activity, %CPU = zero%.
    3. Using dbca, I dropped the database and created the new one with the same configuration options. Wow! I'm again in trouble. A half an hour after the creation of the database, %CPU raised up to 99%. That's it.
    The crucial question here is: what is that in OEL-5.2, not existing in the 5.0, that causes dbca/em scripts to be embarrassed at the time of EM agent configuration?
    Here are the outputs you required picked 30 minutes after starting the database and EM dbconsole (sustained 99% CPU utilization). Note that this is just a 1GB machine.

  • IPhone 5 - Excessive data usage and data "bleed"

    We recently upgraded my daughter's phone from a Samsung to an iPhone 5, originally running iOS 6, now running iOS 7.  The Samsung (Android) phone used less than .5 MB per month, whereas the iPhone 5 will consume that much data in one day.  About 80% of the phone's usage is on WiFi, and is only actively used on the cellular network less than an hour a day.  However, the phone and the Verizon data usage log show data being consumed even when connected continously to wifi. 
    With help from a Verizon representative, we turned off location services, closed all background apps and stopped automatic updates and refreshes, shut off icloud, email, and anything else that could possibly be running in the background or consuming data.  The changes didn't do anything to slow the usage, and the Verizon reps suggested that my daughter was secretly using her phone in the middle of the night to play games and watch movies. At Verizon's recommendation, we signed up for parental controls, and set them to prevent the phone from being used during the school day, and at night.  However, the phone and Verizon continue to show data use in tiny increments 24 hours per day.  These post in the Verizon data usage logs about every 10 minutes, and are typically 10-20KB. 
    Using the parental controls, I set a hard data stop each week so that we could meter her data out over a month's time and prevent overages.  It is supposed to stop all data usage on the phone once she reaches a preset limit.  She would usually hit the 1GB limit in a day or two, but the phone and Verizon's data usage log show that the phone continues to bleed data 24 hours per day even after the limit is reached and she is unable to use her phone.  Verizon can offer no explanation.
    In addition to the data bleed, the actual data usage for virtually any activity that required data is substantially higher than what I would see for the same use on my iPhone 4s.  For example, a couple of youtube videos played on her iPhone 5 resulted in 0.8GB being used in just a few minutes, vs about 50MB on my 4s for the same videos.  Verizon seems to suggest that this is due to the higher resolution and speed, but it seems excessive.

    Although it is frequently suggested that the "fix" for this problem is to turn off cellular, that hardly addresses the problem.  It would also mean we have purchased a very expensive iPod.
    Is there anyone who can help us address this issue?  Verizon has been no help, and does not acknowledge this as an ongoing problem, despite the fact that there are countless articles, blogs, and videos online about the very same issue.  We have tried a number of the "fix" recommendations we've found online, but thus far have had no success.

    There's something wrong. Have you tried the 4 Rs basic troubleshooting steps?
    Restart:
    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
    2. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
    Restore from backup
    Restore as new
