Usage of MDM's material master relevant XI Content and Business Content

Dear all,
In MDM's material-relevant XI content, there's a message interface "MDMMatmasIn". But in the demo system this interface is not used to write material master data to file. The IDoc type MATMAS.MATMAS05 is used instead. No mapping is used. May I ask why?
I tried the 00_MATMAS05_R3.map file and can import file in the format of MATMAS.MATMAS05. But some value mappings are not done and have to be added manually. Do I miss precedent steps?
In MDM Business content, there're lots of import map files like 00_MATMAS05_R3.map and 03b_Units_SAP_R3.map. During the data consolidation procedure, should we just use one map to import the IDoc-XML file? Shouldn't we first use other map file to fill the lookup tables? If not, what are those map files used for? Is there any document about the usage of those map files?
Very sorry for asking so many questions. I'm very new in this area and desperately need help...
Best Regards
Jerome

Hi Christiane,
Thanks for the document. But I didn't find how  to import the customization data into the lookup tables. For example, in the MDM standard business content, the "Material" repository contains a lookup table "Material Type". It doesn't contain the values like "ROH" and "HAWA". How can we fill such tables?
And the standard map "00_MATMAS05_R3" doesn't automatically add such values into lookup table by value mapping. When I tried to import a material master, I had to manually modify this map. Is there any solution to this problem?

  • SRM and MDM for material master in SRM contracts for multiple R/3

    Dear all,
    my question is:
We are implementing SRM 4.0 in classic scenario with multiple R/3 back-end and we want to set-up Global Outline Agreements in SRM in a multi-backend environment where the Material Master are not harmonized.
We heard that MDM and COntent Integraton can be a solution.
    Then detailled question is:
Can we have 2 material numbers (e.g. ABC and XYZ) in 2 different R/3 systems refering the same product.
Have the mapping done in MDM (Content Integrator?) to a third material number:123
Replicating the material master 123 to SRM from MDM(?)
Create global Outline Agreements in SRM for Material Master 123.
Distribute the GOA as Outline Agreement to R/3 system 1 with the translation to ABC and to R/3 system 2 with the translation XYZ, all of that during the distribution step (or another).
Have the call-offs quantities correct on 123 in SRM and BW?
IF yes, how is it working, do you have some documentation discribing the scenario and the config steps to do?
    Thanks in avance

    Hello RD,
    That's a good question.
You are on the right way. MDM is the tool for you.
    But..
Content Integrator (CI) was first developped for Shell, to address the need of cross-referencing of material/supplier/category IDs, for:
    - reporting purpose (actual Spend Analysis)
    - mapping purpose (send of XML PO)
CI was later "fusionned" into the new MDM (1.0) solution.
So now, you can not order CI without MDM (even if some SRM slides still present CI).
But mapping API where developped for all inboud/outbound interfaces in SRM, for materials only (good luck for you).
You will find everywhere this piece of code:
      Call ECI
        CALL FUNCTION 'BBP_PRODUCT_MAP'
          TABLES
            it_input          = lt_mapping_in
            et_output         = lt_mapping_out
          EXCEPTIONS
            logsys_not_found  = 1
            driver_not_found  = 2
            product_not_found = 3
            internal_error    = 4
            OTHERS            = 5.
So it is ok, you have the mapping call, but I don't know if all the rest of the process was really "finalized" (call of API mapping in CI, via XI). I personnaly never used it, but I assume it should work.
I my opinion your process is supported by SAP:
    - Extract materials from both R/3 and consolidate them as a single product in MDM.
    - Distribute this product into SRM.
    - Maintain contracts on those products.
    - Distribute them to R/3 (The ECI call is also used during contract distribution).
    - Call offs corrects in SRM and BW

  • How to set charactersitic in material master as read-only and changable?

    Hi experts
We try to change classifcaiton view screen variant. Our target is only one transaction variant could change the classification type z02 ,its characeristic in material master. we hope to know for such case, we could use transaction varaint to meet the target or not ?
We try to use this first, but we use shd0 and click " change in process" button, it will say " variants are possible only for dialog transactions". I checked in se93, it seems this variant maybe is not for dialog transaction .
But how to change such screen varaiant content?Any steps we should follow ?

the only way to find out for sure is if you test it thoroughly. i cannot help you there, since i don't know about your setup in classes and characteristics. you might want to try your transaction variant of several different material always trying to change the classification. there's another thing: one material might belong to n classes. test that scenario by adding one material to class z01 and z02 and check how the variant behaves ...

yes it can. maybe you have to do a bit more configuration about classification, especially if you want to group screens etc. -> please refer to help.sap.com for detailed documentation.

  • Material master price, inforecord price and GR

    Hi gurus,
Can annybody please clear my confusion. On the PO the price that is proposed is from the inforecord. When we receive the PO, what is the price at which the stock will be valuated? is it the material master price or the inforecord price? if we change the price on the PO after the inforecord has proposed the price, will the GR be valuated at the changed price of the PO. Please expolain
    Thanks
    ANusha
Edited by: anusha vemulapati on Jan 19, 2010 8:11 PM

the GR is valuated according to the price control set in the material master. if the price control is standard price, then the GR is valuated with the standard price, no matter what price the PO has.
in case of moving average price: if the goods receipt is executed before the invoice receipt, the goods movement is valuated with the purchase order price. If an invoice is already posted, the system uses the price of the invoice. If a partial invoice is received, the partial quantity corresponding to the invoice is valuated with the invoice price, the rest is valuated with the purchase order price.
if you change the price in the PO before you do a Goods receipt (and before you post an invoice receipt), then the GR is valuated with this new entered price.
how the price in PO is determined can be read in OSS Note 456691 - FAQ: Price determination in purchasing

  • Post material master idoc  with class and characteristic values

    Hi,
I need to post the class and characterstic values of material while posting the material using idoc of basic type matmas05 . Can anyone suggest me the fields and segment details to fill the class, class type and characteristic values in matmas05.
Note : the class and characteristic values are already created in the system, my purpose is to assign them to material while creating. so please give me the field and segment details in idoc basic type matmas05.
    thanks
    Kiran

I  try to do the samething. I see the fields E1CUVAL : CU: Characteristic valuation in the structure of MATMAS05 but when I run the IDOC, these fields never appear even they exist for the material.
Did you find an answer to your question that can help me?

  • Delete a Material Master Record Permanently from R/3 4.7

We have a requirement to delete certain material master records permanently from our R/3 4.7 system. We have already archived all the relevant material master documents using SARA and are now trying to delete the material permanently using SARA but are unable to do so as the program is finding archive entries in MARI and prevents the material from being permanently deleted.
Is there a way to remove records from MARI so that we can delete the material master record permanently.
    Thanks in advance.
    Samir

It looks like transaction MMDE cannot be used for deleting only a certain set of materials. It is setup to delete all the materials.
Is there a way to delete only a certain set of materials permanently from the client?
    Thanks

  • Division in Material Master

    Dear Gururs,
Can any one explain me the difference between the Division which you defined in the Sales Area and the usage of Division in Material Master. Kindly throw some light on this.
    Regds
    Jeevagan

Let me try to put in my thought on this.
Division that you see in SAP is actually the material division. When you create materials, it can belong to one division of your company. Say for example if you take Uniliver, there are may divisions there. Say they have food and beverages, they have health products, they have products for women, they have product for babies. Now, these are broad classifications. Now, if you have material tea (like Bruckbond), it can fall in food and beverages division.
Use of division. It can help you in creating different pricing, it can help you in reporting and analysis. Also, it can help you in customizing some of the operations within SAP.
Then, why does sales area have division in it. The reason I think is simple. Division in sales area can give you flexibility. In the above example, we know that there are a lot of divisions. But, you want to have one common division to sell all your products to customers. Then you can have only one division as common division and use rest of the divisions to price and item or do an analysis.
Now suppose you are an organization which supplies materials to military and also to commercial market. Then, you want to restrict all the customers from the commercial market to buy materials which are in military division. Then, you can create two seperate sales areas and work around it. (Even distribution channels can be used in this case thought). In my experience these are the things that I have seen and also, what I understand is division of material is for pricing and subsequent report basis.
If you want to break down the sales based on the division, (for each sales org and distribution chn) then, you should have the division in the sales orders. If divisions should come in sales orders, then, it should be there in the sales area.
    Hope this helps...

  • Validation for PO text in the material master.

    Hi experts,
I am trying to do a validation on the Purchase Order Text (long text) which must always be filled in Language EN and DE.
Thus if a user tries to edit a material in MM02 or creates a new one in MM01 - this box of long text (PO text) must be filled, else it should throw an error.
i created a BADI and inside that i am calling the FM read_text , but it check for only existing text already saved in the database.
WHAT ABOUT THE RUN-TIME (ex  creating a material).
or what if the user purposely deletes an existing PO long text and then tries to save it (database might already have a PO long text saved for that material).
Kindly help me if there is any FM which can be called to check in the Runtime if the PO long text is filled or if we can do some customizing and make that PO long text Mandatory.
Please not we need this field mandatory only for only 03 plants, that's where the problem is coming.
    Many Many thanks in advance.
    Rittik.

    Hi,
You can maitain the PO text of material master record in english and german. To do this goto POtext view below languages maintained create icon will be there select that give the english language, enter the text in english and save. Again select german and enter the PO text.
To get the PO text view mandatory , go to SPRO, logistic general, material master, fielld selection, define plant specific feild selection and plant specific screen selection. For 3 plants you can configure here.Hence the POtext view will be mandatory and gives error if not maintained. I hope this will resolve your issue. Thanking you.

    Hello All,
I need an information where i would like to know if an MRP view in a Material master can be restricted without the creation of the Basic View. Basically an MRP view is getting created even though the Basic View of material master is not there and it needs to be stopped.
    Thanks for your inputs.

    Dear Syed ,
If you want to prevent end users update other material master views , you can apply the concept of SAP note 545380 - FAQ: Authorizations material master , with this you will not more problem with this kind of problem.
    Hope this can help you.

  • Material Master - Sales Organization

    Hi,
I am having two company codes, each with one Plant and Sorg respectively.
    Say
    4211 ( BUKRS )
    SC00 ( WERKS )
    4211 ( VKORG )
    3121 ( BUKRS )
    MB50 ( WERKS )
    3121 ( VKORG )
When i am tyring to maintain a material master for SC00 Plant and 3121 Sales org. The system allows me to save the material. I want to have a lock on creation of Material master only with those plant and Sorg belonging to the same company code
    How to achieve this functionality.
    Regards,
    Sahana

    Hi Sahana
This is in SD ENterprise structure customizing.
    Check the settings in OVX6.
For a Sales Org/Dist Channel combination, you can assign plants there.
If you want to restrict company code level, you can do so in OVX3.
Here, you assign the sales org for the company code e.g. sales org 3121 can work only with company 3121.
    Best regards

  • Excise data in material master (India)

We are upgrading from 4.6C to ECC6.0

What is wrong ? How to go about it ?

    Hello ,
Yes this   is absolutely possible .
Excise data is maintained at plant level , hence the foreign trade import view will be maintained only at the "Indian plant " level .
Secondly , The valuation level in your case shud be plant. This will take care of all the valuations .
