Usage report is avalaible after 48 hours
Hi expert,
I have two Sharepoint 2013 on premise farms (Prod & PreProd).
I have the same issue on both farms and try to figure out what could be wrong or what could I do to obtain the result I want.
When I export the excel "Report usage", result is avalaible for many dates except the last 24hours. I mean, we are the 14th August 2014 day, I can not see a result for the 13th August day but everything is ok for all others days.
Much better with a snapshot.
I have verified the two timer jobs:
- Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation Usage Data Import
- Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation Usage Data Processing
They run well first, first every 5minutes and second on time per day.
I just want to know if this is a normal functionning regarding the data avalaibility for this report or should I modifiy some stuffs.
Thanks for your help.
Hi,
I find internal case said that the running the timer jog "Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing" will grab the yesterday's usage data for a particular web from the usage database, and this timer job also runs scheduled time(e.g.
3:00PM) related to server's time zone and other timer jobs per the following article (it should be similar to SP2013), you can take a look.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bettertogether/archive/2013/02/07/sharepoint-2010-web-analytics-changing-the-schedule.aspx
Thanks

Usage Report Shows Zero (0) Hits
All:
When I view the Excel Usage report for my site collection as described here
here, it shows zero hits. Same for my top-level site page. I've gone into Central Admin and confirmed the Usage and Health Data Collection service is running
as described
here and that it is properly configured. Via PowerShell, I've also confirmed the EnableReceivers property is set to true as described
here .
Still no luck. Nothing but 0 hits reported. Any other suggestions on how I can get this working?
Thanks,
Bill

After you enable Web Analytics , SharePoint automatically does not start making analytical data unless we specify data that needs to be captured and saved on the analytics service application database.
SharePoint will created a service application database typically named as "WSS_Logging" after you provision Usage Collection Service.
If this service is already present , then I would suggest to reconfigure usage and logging service once again. It should work.

Try this hotfix, it fixed mine.

Cpu usage reported by port 311
I am using Nagios to monitor my servers (one Linux box and one Mac Mini Server with Mountain Lion, all upgrades installed).
For the Mac server, I was using check_osx_server plugin, which is using port 311 to get information from the OS-X server. After the last upgrade (I am not sure if it started with the 10.8.2 upgrade or the latest supplemental upgrade), the CPU Usage reported by the server is very strange. The thing is, it's not Nagios which is reporting wrong numbers, it is the server itself which is returning erroneous values. You can check this by opening a browser window and point it to https://yourserver.com:311 and then select servermgr_info and then from the drop-down menu getHardwareInfo and click Send Command. That XML document returned from the server, is where check_osx_server plugin is getting its numbers from.
What I have found so far:
1. When you first power up the server, if you check the CPU usage you get a number with 20-something digits. This is crazy, because the number reported is supposed to be less than 10000, since that number is divided by 100, to show you the CPU Usage percentage.
2. The number remains the same for ever. Obviously, the CPU Usage changes with time, and that was reported accordingly, in the past. Now this number changes only if you run Server.app in the server or on a remote Mac. It changes to a more meaningful number (four digits, since this number has to be divided by 100, to get the CPU Usage percentage), but again, it remains the same for ever, until you close Server.app and re-run it. It also changes, if you go to the Stats in Server.app and change the default period from 4 hours, to 1 hour, but not if you change from one hour to 4 or 24h. Here is a sample of the XML file returned:
> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN"
> "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0">
> <dict>
> <key>command</key>
> <string>getHardwareInfo</string>
> <key>cpuUsageBy100</key>
> <integer>9183</integer>
> <key>cpuUsagesBy100Array</key>
> <array>
> <dict>
> <key>cpuUsage-0</key>
> <integer>9094</integer>
> </dict>
> <dict>
> <key>cpuUsage-1</key>
> <integer>9272</integer>
> </dict>
> </array>
There are more lines, but I have cut the file for brevity.
3. Again, as long as the Server.app is running, the CPU Usage reported does NOT change. Only if you quit Server.app and re-run it, it changes.
From the above, it is clear that port 311 is no longer reporting the momentary CPU Usage, but some other value, which is stored somewhere and is not updated unless you run Server.app.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior?tried but stuck funnily with this message on every check:
ERROR: Problem Contacting Server:<urlopen error [Errno 8] _ssl.c:504: EOF occurred in violation of protocol>
until i fixed this issue i probably can't say anything... -
Hi
I am working in a sharepoint migration project. We have migrated one SharePoint project from moss2007 to sp2013. Issue is when we are clicking on Popularity trend > usage report, it is throwing an error.
Issue: The data was not being processed to EVENT STORE folder which was present under the
Analytics_GUID folder. Also data was not present in the Analytical Store database.
In log viewer I have found the bellow error.

Please provide pointers on what needs to be done.Hi Nabhendu,
According to your description, my understanding is that you could not use popularity trend after you migrated SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2013.
In SharePoint 2013, the analytics functionality is a part of the search component. There is an article for troubleshooting SharePoint 2013 Web Analytics, please take a look at:

I hope this helps.
Thanks,

Hello,
When I am opening usage reports under Site Settings > Site Administraton > Popularity Trends, i cannot see any data after 9th May 2014. It stopped working and all the numbers coming to zero after 9th may.
I tried many solutions that are given on internet for this issue like restarting timer job, enabling usage on usage service application, permission on log files, etc.. but none of them worked for me.
Please help me out. Is usage report depend on any service? search is working fine, usage service application is working fine.
Thanks.
chiragHi chirag,
For troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:
Make sure the Web Analytics Data Processing Service and Web Analytics Web Service are started on each server.
Make sure web analytics service application is started
Deactivate and Activate the site collection Features on Reporting.
Check the detail error message of ULS log to determine the exact cause of the error.
Also you can have a look at the article:

We never received a usage report for the week of 2007-04-08. I checked our site preferences and the email address was not been changed. Did this report not get sent out or did we (odu.edu) just not receive it?
Sorry for the delay, but we have identified the issue with this week's report and have began sending them out to site admins this afternoon. Please check your inbox in an hour or so.

Application Usage Report Blank - ARD 3.8
We are trying to run an Application Usage Report on one of our clients. We are using both 3.8 Admin and Client.
It will run the report but the output is simply blank.
Has anyone seen this before? Any advice. Tried it on several clients and same issue each time.Hi all - I'm suffering from similar ARD/VNC/ScreenSharing problems, too - in this case however Yosemite to Yosemite!
Client computer:
Laptop: MacBook Pro
Yosemite 10.10.2
ARD 3.8.3
Remote Computer:
Desktop: MacMini
Yosemite 10.10.3
ARD 3.8.3
I cannot connect to my remote machine (to control or just view it), neither with ARD nor with VNC.
It does not work with Remote Management enabled nor Screen Sharing.
Attempting a connection reports - after a while - the error "Connection failed ... Please make sure that Screen Sharing ... is enabled" (but it is enabled!)
In the log on the client machine the following entry appears:
Screen Sharing: SSSessionView.m:1815:-[SSSessionView ssSession:connectDidFail:]: Communications error
In the log on the remote machine the following entry appears:
com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.screensharing[692]) Endpoint has been activated through legacy launch(3) APIs. Please switch to XPC or bootstrap_check_in(): com.apple.screensharing.server
Note, however that other functions work:
- On my Laptop ARD reports that the remote computer is available and displays the user and the current application correctly
- A connection does seem to be established between the client and the remote machine, because I can send a "Message to the Administrator" from the remote machine back to the client machine, which is correctly displayed on the client machine.
Come on Apple - you seem to have forgotten your credo "It just works!"
I thought I would never say it, but thank god for TeamViewer! -
Compressor fails to create output after hours of processing.
I've had mixed results from Compressor 2, it does seem very slow, the interface is not intuitive, the error reporting is unhelpful. It does seem to offer everything I need, if only it would work as expected.
The problem I'm seeing now is that often when the batch-processing is finished (after hours of waiting), there is nothing but a Zero KB m2v file and no audio file in the target folder, or no files at all. The only error I've seen is a triangle with a "Target Error" help tip that appears when I hover over the filename in the Batch pane (worse than most Windows generic error messages). However, there seems to be nothing wrong with the hard disk or path...but the output files were not created in the folder I specified in Compressor, but up one level, so maybe that's the issue. The warning triangles don't appear of course until after the processing is all done. It would be nice to be warned in advance of or immediately upon submitting a batch that there are problems.
I'm trying to create a 123 minute DVD from an FCP 5-created 25GB QuickTime file. Between Compressor failures, DVD Studio Pro failures, and FCP 5 crashing, I'm beginning to wonder if I should go back to the dark side (Windows).
PB G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)
PBG4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)hey tomahawk
instead of trying to specify an output, why dont you just let compressor creat the compressed file where the source is?
for SOME God awful reason, when you start tweaking compressor, it coughs up a MAJOR hairball. i know, what a hassle, but if you want a work around, try to tweak AS LITTLE as possible (the setting that is) and see how that works out.
trust me, i know about all of us FRUSTRATED compressor users!
my box is even starting to give me problems.. ARGH!!

Schedule report at every half hour interval from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Hi,
We use BOXIR2 and our client has requested to schedule a RealTime Webi report at every half hour interval from 5:30 AM PST to 5:00 PM PST daily.
We tried scheduling the report but there is no option present in BO where we can select the start time or end time for a day.
Could you please let us know how we can achieve this?
Thanks,
NikhilHi Ashwini,
I believe its not a good idea to set the date daily. After a lot of research on this, I found that there are 2 possible solutions for this.
1. Create 24 daily schedule for the report(s).
i.e.
1. daily 8 am
2. daily 8:30 am
3. daily 9 am
4. u2026
24. daily 5 pm
2. Create a batch file that will craete a file and delete it after 10 secs. Upload that into Windows scheduler as it will run this batch file at every half hour and till 5PM only. The file created by batch file will be trigger to run report.
Does that sound good?
Thanks and Regards,

SQL Server 2008 R2 Disk Usage report showing incorrect data file
When I go to ANY database (System, AdventureWorks*, user) in Managemant Studio, I right-click on the db, select Reports, select Standard Reports, and select Disk Usage. The disk usage report shows the correct db on top, but always only shows AdventureWorks_Data.mdf
when I expand Disk Space Used by Data Files section. This happens to any db I try. When I look at Database Properties/Files for that database, the logical and physical file names are correct.
Since the correct files appear in Database Properties/Files, I'm hoping it's just a bug in the report. Same thing happens if I run a Disk Usage by Table report for ANY database, The tables for AdventureWorks always only appear,
Thanks, MikeThanks Tibor!
I looked at the Properties for my login under Security/Logins and it shows my default db to be master. Not sure if this is correct, but it sounds plausible. I'll see if I can report the problem.
The only issue I can think of that was out of the ordinary for the install of 2008 R2 EE was this:
I originally installed 2005 DE, since it wouldn't expire. After the install of 2005 DE, I decided to uninstall it and install 2008 R2 EE. In between the installs of 2005 DE and 2008 R2 EE, I installed/uninstalled stupid stuff like 2008
Express, 2008 Express with Advanced Services (?), and 2008 EE. After each uninstall I also did a system restore to be safe.
Now each time I open Management Studio, i get a pop-up stating that there are SQL Server 2005 registered servers on my sytem and asks me if I want to add them into Management Studio. I always say no.
The AdventureWorks db is from 2005 and was installed automatically with 2005. I installed the 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2 AdventureWorks databases to my R2 for class. I'm not sure now if the Disk Usage report is showing me AdventureWorks_Data.mdf
because of my install into 2008 R2 EE or my previous install of 2005 DE.
Hope this kind of makes sense...

Activating action usage report in RAR
Hi,
I want to configure the Action usage report in AC 5.3 RAR. However after reading all of the configuration documents I am still not clear on the steps to achieve this.
Specifically how is the transaction data gathered?
Is there a job that runs on the SAP system?
I have looked at the options for configuration under alerts generate jobs, however I do not want to gather data on transaction related to a specific risk, I want to gather data on all transactions used. I cannot see an option to set this up.
I want to use this report for remediation purposes.
Thanks,Hi,
Action usage job runs on RAR (Java front-end) side and basically, collects the data from SAP system and populates the RAR database.
Alert is only supposed to work at SoD risk level or critical action risk level. The reason why SAP doesn't allow you to generate alert for all the transactions as that would be too much of data.

Transaction usage report in 4.6B
Hi,
I'm trying to get a transaction usage report of the last 3 months out of 4.6B.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
This information is easier to get to in 4.7, but I can't find it in 4.6B.
Please help.
ThanksThank you Ashley!
What you have done in your systems in very admirable - although I know some folks who claim that if you lock down people's access to such an extent that they become inflexible (e.g. cannot start arbitrary reports of their choice)... then it motivates them more to find those loop-holes you refer to which appear from time to time, instead of keeping them blissfully ignorant. I am not one of those folks though, and don't believe in "security in obscurity" because I am sure that someone who enters the system with malice or fraudulent intentions will not care about it either...
2 "gotchas" with reports are those intended only for background jobs and therefore don't have a transaction code to start them, necessarily. I guess it is not that difficult to create one, and there is also the possibility to debug programs scheduled in SM37 using the job-debugger (JDBG).
The other is that some standard reports are delivered without a transaction code to start them, or at least none which is obvious. Again, I guess one could easily create a transaction to start the report if there is intention to use it periodically.
I think much of this new awareness (and legal requirements) came long after the ABAP reporting itself was invented, and this causes some teething problems and a transition phase in the SAP world.
In very early days, there was nothing to stop a user from running a report... (except the checks in the report itself). Those were "the good old days"...
Then came SA38 for ABAP reporting purposes and ABAP itself (as it's German acronym hints at) was for customers to create additional reporting outputs... (ha ha ha :-).
The best (and most consistent) security is still that each program (including function modules, particularly if they are remote enabled and methods) perform the the correct authority-checks which are niether too weak nor too strict, because this mitigates many of the risks when answering the "what if the user can break out of the tcode?" question. This is one of the reasons why I am a big BAPI fan (see transaction BAPI).
To me it seems that the greater the risk of starting reports is percieved to be, the less confidence in the quality of the programming is hiding behind it. This is true of programs from all name ranges.
My 2 cents,

Photoshop CS3 Win XP SP2 - Crash after hours of use?
I am a desktop support tech. I have users that are crashing photoshop after hours of use and specifically when they are dodging and burning or using filters. Photoshop's RAM usage is not extremely high and I have users that do this everyday on machines that are exactly the same. Re-booting the machine postpones the issue for a couple of hours but does not fix it. Does anyone else have this issue and if so have you found any way to fix it?
Thanks for help and suggestions. I simply wiped the slate clean so to speak and reloaded iTunes and QuickTime. Changed a few default settings and reloaded all the music back into iTunes. Had to reaffirm my id and password for the music I bought through iTunes music store but everything appears to be working properly. I am now able to burn CDs without the system rebooting. My system was already set for mini-dump so if the Apple engineers would like those files I can upload them for you.
However I'm still having a problem that I've had from day one. When I import a CD to iTunes the first song on each CD has a 2 second or so blank sound gap in it. All the songs after that are okay though, no blank sound gap. I import everything from my internal drives not my external burner.
Once again appreciate the suggestions.
