Usage Shows Too Many Hours?

I unplug my iPhone at 9am, and by 9pm the usage shows 17 hours: 14 hours standby, 3 hours usage. How is that possible? Shouldn't those numbers not be any greater than 12 hours?
Maybe an odd question, but I'm trying to figure out if my battery is damaged, and it's hard to do that when the usage numbers are so odd.
Thanks!

See your usage statistics: Choose Usage. There, you can see:
Usage—Amount of time iPhone has been awake and in use since the last full • charge. iPhone is awake whenever you’re using it—including making or receiving phone calls, using email, sending or receiving text messages, listening to music, browsing the web, or using any other iPhone features. iPhone is also awake while performing background tasks such as automatically checking for and retrieving email messages.
Standby—Amount of time iPhone has been powered on since its last full charge, • including the time iPhone has been asleep.
Current period call time and lifetime call time.•
Amount of data sent and received over the cellular data network.•
Reset your usage statistics: Tap Usage and tap Reset Statistics to clear the data and cumulative time statistics. The statistics for the amount of time iPhone has been unlocked and in standby mode aren’t reset.
Is there a possibility that it was taken off before full charge. You could reset usage and perform full charge and test.

I have an Ipad 2 Model MC775LL, IOS 6.0.1 (10A523) and I am trying to update to IOS 6.1, but the download is taking too many hours. Is it normal?

You have to connect the iPad to your computer to update.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • Software update server showing too many updates

We are having an issue with our Software Update Server on 10.6.8.  It has started showing too many updates to the clients.  For example, it will show the iTunes 10.5.1 update as well as iTunes 10.5 update if the 10.5 update hasn't been applied.  If iTunes is several versions behind, it will show all those updates too.  I also see this on Security Updates and Raw Compatibility updates.
At first I thought this was due to turing on the ability to host Lion updates, but it isn't the case.  I have since turned on SUS on a different machine and it still does this for updates.
Anyone have a fix for this?

Same issue with our 2008 XServe.  At 3am to 8am this morning, Software Update Server went loony & downloaded over 18GB of old updates.
Naturally, after tracking down this was the culprit, I've gone in & temporarily disabled Copy all updates from Apple, and disabled Automatically enable copied updates.  To preserve our miniscule amount of broadband download quota remaining - it had shrunk to 500MB for the coming fortnight.
    So we'll have to data-diet.
No idea why 18GB of old updates were downloaded out of the blue by Software Update Server.  I wonder if yesterday's release of Apple Software Installer Update 1.0 somehow adjusted the back end of update management.

  • Keyword Search showing too many photos

I have over 22,000 photos and over 300 keywords for them.  Sadly I cannot search by keyword since the keyword list only shows the last 146 keywords on the screen (a known bug that, in my case, only shows keywords beginning with p-z) and there is no way to scroll to any keywords before it.  I have therefor taken to entering the keywords manual in the "all" field, which worked fine in iPhoto 08, but reveals way too many photos in iPhoto 11.  From what I can tell, if there is one photo with that keyword in any given event, it will show me every photo in that event.  So, for example, if I want to see "Jane" and there is one photo of Jane in the Hawaii" event, it will show me every photo in the "Hawaii" event.
I have occassioanlly stumbled upon workarounds for this, I think entering a space after the keyword or something, but can't recall any concrete solution that seems to work now.  Can anyone help me with this extremely frustrating problem?  (And I know about Smart Albums.  That won't solve this one.)

Did you ever solve this problem. I have it too and it's driving me crazy.

  • Combobox shows too many options

Using a combobox as an account selector widget in my Flex app.
When closed/minimised the currently selected value is shown on the combobox, this is correct. When I click to view the list of options the list is fine except it includes currently selected item/label.
So in effect the user would be able to re-select the currently selected label/item, does that make sense?!
Is there an option/flag for the combobox to not display the currently selected item in the list shown under the control?
    The dataprovider is an ArrayCollection.
    The ArrayCollection gets populated by use of calls such as: ac.addItem("0123456789");
Any pointers appreciated, only way I can otherwise think to do it wouldf be to write code to sort through currently selected items/remove from dataProvider/put back in on selection change. That doesn't seem quite 'proper'

That would be a terrible design! What if you open the combobox list, look at the other options, and decide you want to keep the same selection? The only way to do so would probably be to click "anywhere outside of the component that isn't another component"--and I'm not even sure that would work.
Your boss is wrong, you'll have to explain that this is standard behavior and make an argument that it's more difficult to cancel out of making a change. It'll confuse users too if the list changes like that, I guarantee it.
You'd have to extend ComboBox to make it do this--and that may not even work. Who knows what methods or variables (that may be private) you'd have to mess with? Who know how many hours it would take? Even ignoring the bad design aspect, it's probably just not worth the time investment.  There is a chance it might be an easy change, but even in that case, the design is more important.
The code in most of these Flex components is not trivial at all...
Also, your boss is micromanaging and wrong to ask such a thing, unless he is the actual customer or at least the "owner" who's supposed to be representing the end user(s).

I am unable to understand this behaviour. The number of users still remain the same and the usage is as usual.
Is there a way I can check what has gone wrong? I could not see any errors also in the alert.log
Please suggest what can be done.
    Thanks
Rajeshredo generation is the result of the activity on the system. You've therefore either started doing much more work - which the business users might well be able to let you know about - or you've started doing you existing workload extremely inefficently, which your business users will probably have noticed. I would start in this case, not with logminer, but with the business and the application - ebusiness suite for example keeps pretty good logs of what activity has happened on the system. Id also be interested in what was changed 3 weeks ago, because something was!

I recently created a new apple ID
    Bad idea.
Content bought with an Apple ID is forever associated with that Apple ID. Apple will not transfer content from one Apple ID to another and Apple will not merge Apple IDs. Unless you are prepared to forfeit all the previously purchased content and buy it all again with the new Apple ID, you will need to maintain the old ID to update and redownload your content.

  • AppStore Show "too many HTTP redirects" .. HELP

    Im from Malysia,
when i try to view apps in my iphone 5 apps store, it gives the ''too many HTTP redirects" message, what is the problem? someone enlighten me please.

Hi Markc Anthony. I was using iOS 5.1.1 before this and decided to upgrade. I did a full Update to iOS 6.1 through iTunes. I used one of my iCloud backups to bring back all my apps and Data. Since then I've been getting a message saying "Too Many HTTP Redirects" on the App Store.
I troubleshooted the steps by doing each of these steps:
I tried different Sections of the App Store and all gave me the same message "Too Many HTTP Redirects"
I went ahead and Check iTunes App and it looks like it has no issues.
I went to Settings\iTunes & App Stores and clicked on my Apple ID and signed out. I made sure every other switch was off. Then I went back to the App Store and still got the same message.
I went ahead and turned off the iPhone by holding the button at the top right corner and when prompted I slided the "slide to turn off" button. I waited about 5 seconds and then got to hold the top right button again until the Apple Logo flashed again. I still got the same message when I went to the App Store.
I went back to Settings\iTunes & App Store and signed back in. The App Store would still give me the same error message.
I finally gave up and did a full reset using iTunes again. I plugged in my iPhone clicked on its icon on iTunes and choose the button "Restore iPhone". I did not recovered from a backup this time and instead set it up as new. That actually worked. I am back to using my iPhone with no issues.
You all can try recovering from backup it might actually work, but I am having a feeling that the error may have to do with recovering from a backup using iCloud. You can try it again, but make sure you let it finish and do not stop it (There is a way to stop it).

  • All My Files is showing too many files

I have a new iMac 27 and so now I'm trying to clean up the old iMac 24.  When I run All My Files I can see a number of files that I want to remove from the old as they have successfully migrated to the new computer.  But my problem is that "All My Files" shows files in an external drive I had used for back up. (not Time Machine but duplicate backups).   How does it even see that drive. It's not hooked up and I've turned off the network wi-fi.  It shows them on a tree starting with my user name and then desktop and then the external drive.   In the past I have seen the external on the desktop but it is not their now as all externals are unconnected.
Then I went to a program called "Tidy Up" which is helpful in finding duplicate files and it too wants to list the unattached but previously used external hard drive.  I'm afraid if I delete these files it will also drop them from that external drive which I don't want to do.
I suprised after deleting tons of duplicate files from the old (after successful migration) that it still shows I only have 145gb of a 1TB drive available. I want to delete the excess files but still keep a few on the old computer.  What am I missing here.  What's taking up all this space and how can I free up space? Do I need to run some kind of app like the old degragmenter used on Windows?

    Thanks for your help.
IOS - my bad, I meant to say let's just consider this a question regarding the operating system for the iMac24.
    Yes, I emptied the trash
I have next to no music, less then 700mb of pictures and the videos are all showing as related to the external
    drive in question.
Here's a photo of the page (neat trick).  No other drives shown and yet when I go to that drive on my desktop and select a file it will play.
Here's my desktop that shows the icon for the external drive known as "1TB WD"
Here's a picture of my Finder.  All of these files shown have an address that starts on the 1TB WD.
I added a file to this external drive in question from the old computer and then went to my other computer to where the drive is now connected and of course, they didn't show up.  Yet when I click on any one of these icons it will play the file just like it's connected.  To a novice like me it would seem that the hard drive has duplicated itself on my old system. If I go to the new computer where the drive in question is connected the Get Info says 999.96 GB drive with 265.81 GB available.  If I do Get Info on the desktop icon on the old it reads 425.9 GB on disk for 194,555 items. Where is shown as /users/cwtidball/desktop.  For Kind it says "Folder" where as the other computer calls Kind "Volume"
So it would appear that somehow a large portion of the external got copied and became a folder. Not my intent but now I guess I'll need to compare files to see if things were added to the "Folder" that should have been added to the "Volume".
Any other thoughts welcome.  I appreciate your assistance.

Me too, with my Comcast POP account. Tried the advice at the link below (for GMail), but it doesn't seem to have helped (so far, at least). I did have a lot of old emails that were still marked as unread, but marking them all as read doesn't seem to have changed anything in Mail on my iPhone.

  • Too many hours in week view

Before updating to OSx 10.4.4, you could choose the "Day starts at:" and "Day ends at:" preference to limit the amount of hours in the main iCal window in week view. Now changing that preference only grays out the unwanted hours. They are still there and I have to scroll though them. I only want to 8 hours in the day and the rest to disappear. That is the way iCal used to work.
Has anybody come up with a patch to solve this problem? I guess the new version of iCal (I now have v2.0.3) got installed with OSx 10.4.4. Is there any way to run the previous version of iCal with .4?

comment out the lines in /etc/fstab, since you use udev, dbus, hal and pmount i'm guessing you dont need those static entries in fstab.

  • ICloud Keychain showing too many devices?

I have a strange problem that's currently frustrating me. I have 4 devices, an iPhone 5, iPad 2, MacBook Air and iMac. It all started when I began to have trouble with my MacBook Air (another story). I've since setup Mavericks a couple of times on that device and it appears that it's registered itself to iCloud Keychain multiple times too.
Recently I've been trying to resolve sync issues with internet accounts across my devices and when I remove a Google account, for example, from my iMac, which has iCloud Keychain turned on, it corretly asks me if I want to remove the account from my other devices but lists my other devices as "MacBook Air", "MacBook Air" and "MacBook Air", nowhere does it mention my iPhone or iPad.
I'm wondering how my MacBook Air has come to appear 3 times in my iCloud Keychain and what, if anything, I can do about it. The reson I want to try and resolve this is because I'm pretty sure that stored Keychain data for "Internet Accounts" on the 3 phantom MacBook Airs is also messing up my ability to sync Google Calendars with iCal, the biggest source of my frustration!

    Hello there, DesertRatR.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great information on what to do to remove devices from iCloud verification:
Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support
What if I lose or give away one of my trusted devices?
If you no longer have access to one of your devices, go to My Apple ID as soon as possible to remove that device from your list of trusted devices. That device can then no longer be used to help verify your identity.
What if I no longer have access to any of my trusted devices?
If you can't access any of your trusted devices, you can still access your account using your password and Recovery Key. You should then verify a new trusted device as soon as possible.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
