Usage time counter wrong

Hi there,
after a unsuccessful iOS 8 installation I made a downgrade for iOS 7.1.2 until Apple was supporting that.
A few days later I started to notice a usage time incredible big, like 15h.
looking deeper, I saw that the usage time was getting bigger with the iPad was in standby. I got an increase of 1h30h in usage time each 4h of standby.
I already did the obvious reset (holding sleep and home button) and I did a reset content and settings on the iPad. Only the last step produced some results but did solve the problem by 100%. I mean, it stills counting while iPad is sleeping.
MY last and probably most effective step was make a restore from iTunes but it will update my iOS which I dont wanna do util Apple fixes all Wifi issues.
Is there something to do about it ? It's a little annoying because the counter always worked ok. On the other hand, I didn't notice any decrease of battery life.

No, everyone can make downgrade a few days after a new release. You just must have an backup of the old IPSW file. The hole process occur through iTunes without any tweaks.
By the way, I found the responsible for eating my "usage time" while my iPad was sleeping: Skype!
I realised that Skype was trying to connect even without an internet connection active. When I selected "Offline" before quitting Skype, I got no extra usage time while sleep.
If you just quit from Skype it stills trying to connect even without internet connection.

  • What's wrong with usage time of my iphone

    i just checked usage of call time on my iphone4 and surprisingly found out that my current period of call time is 4,294,963,694 day and lifetime is 4,294,963,694 day. i just saved screen shot. i'm just curious anyone have similar usage time?

    Hiya,
    I noticed the same issue a few months ago before I upgraded to OS vs 4.2.1.
    My 'Current Period' call time is correct (6 Hours 25 Mins) but Lifetime displays 4,294,963,689 Days, 4,2..
    I've done a 'Reset All Settings' but it restores the same information from the backup.

  • Unaccounted for "usage time"?? this happened 2 nites in a row..and counting

    ok,, so here's something strange and for the life of me i can't figure this out.. i'm sure nobody would notice this, so i thought i'd throw it out here for some logical answers..
    the last 2 nights, i notice when i go to bed, i have about 75-80% battery and about 40 mins of usage/ 18 hrs+ of standby. obviously, i can see in the settings tab and look at the usage to get these numbers..
    well.. after roughly 8 hrs of sleep.... the battery is now about 20-25% LESS,,AND in the usage,, it's gone from 40" to 1'11-15"?????
    now i know the first answer might be someone is using my phone when i sleep,, but i am 100% sure this is not the case..LOL...
    btw,, all my location, push, are all OFF..
    this has happened 2 nights in a row,, and during the day.. i am not noticing this usage time adding up when my phone is in standby..
    can anyone give some reasonable explanation???

    maybe you have apps running in the background that you could close, it may be causeing yoru phoen to be accessign data or somethign

  • Wrong usage times after firmware update?

    My usage times used to reflect my usage perfectly, prior to the recent firmware update. Ever since I updated its like my usage times keep going up even when my phone is "sleeping". Currently my phone displays 1+ day of Standby and 1+ day of Usage on one full charge - even though I have probably used it about 6-8 hours total.
    Here is a picture of what my phone currently displays from one single charge, all of the usage settings were reset right after the firmware update when I charged it. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/911/img0166sd4.jpg

    It looks like I have found a solution.
    I again connected the Airport via ethernet cable, included all the settings as before, changed the channels of the router and the Airport device to 4 AND also changed the security settings in the router from "WPA/WPA2" to "WPA (TKIP") (whatever that means...). The last one was only a try but in the end it worked out. The airport device was instantly recognized and my music can now be streamed wirelessly again...
    I now hope it lasts...
    So for those out there who are facing the same problems, try out this one.
    Cheers

  • I bought my 15" macbook pro i7 just a year ago and my battery life runs out extremely quick..at fully charged it says I only have 2:27 of usage time. I didn't pay for that-what can I do about it? I do have Apple care. Thanks.

    I bought my 15" macbook pro just a year ago and my battery life runs out extremely quickly. This started maybe a month or two ago. Its hard to tell. I only noticed the rapid change recently. Fully charged it says I have 2:27 (2 hours and 27 minutes) of usage time...with about 50% screen and keyboard brightness.
    I've checked inside system preferences and its cycle count is 261 and full charging cap is 6316.
    I have apple care...is this something i can/need to take up with apple. You'd think if you pay the price for these machines you should get mroe use out of them.
    ONLY A YEAR I'VE HAD THIS!
    My PC lasted 4 years before the battery showed signs this dramatic of wear.
    Any help is appreciated, im  new mac owner. thanks.

    do you have a mbp with dual video cards? running the system with the higher end card increases the heat and also drains batt power.
    i have the 1st gen unibody (2008) with an original removable battery of 311 cycles and 4453 charge. under normal use ill be happy to get 1.5hrs. the mac battery counter thing says i have 3.3hrs though (whatever). compared to me, i think you use your battery more than i do, perhaps its the reason why it degraded so fast in a year?

  • Usage time is greatly inflated

    I have my phone set to auto-lock with a passcode after one minute and my email checking set to "manual". After fully charging my phone overnight my Usage and Standby counters were reset to "0". I briefly checked my numbers before leaving the house and they read Usage: 2m and Standby: 3m.
    Since checking those stats this morning I have not touched my phone except to press the Home button once to look at the time. I did receive two SMS messages.
    After 12 hours of non-use my Usage now reads 1h 15m. Anyone know what would be inflating the Usage stats or why it would be showing the wrong usage?

    Okay so I restored the phone to its factory settings about 21 hours ago. I have used the phone a bit for surfing, watching movies, you tube, and using the calandar as well as being on the phone for 1 hour and 22 minutes. Wifi was on most of that time and I kept the phone on standby while I was't using it and while I slept.
    I am happy to report that the usage is "somewhat" correct. It says that my total usage is 3 hrs 26 mins. However, even if you take the phone out of standby for a second it will record a minute or two of usage time. But it is not recording large amounts of usage while in standby and the battery is currently showing a 50 % charge. Which coincides with Apples battery specs.
    In conclusion, the full restore seemed to work like a charm and the battery and the phone are doing great...As Advertised.

  • Iphone 6 plus the battery usage times are erased when you turn off and back on iphone

    i´m desperate. this has already happened with 4 new different iphone. I have it a week ago and suddenly when i turn it on un the morning  i deleted the hours of use and standby battery. I get two hyphens . Reloading up to 100% and the counter is reset. but when you come back off and on again disappears again use times.I restored, reset settings and many other things but can not find the solution. has passed me at least 4 different iphones and the truth is that leads me crazy. someone could help me because in support anyone give me a solution.
    many thanks. you are the only option left for me to discover something so rare and unanswered.
    PD: so if I have observed is that when new and still has not restored works well. I have been working well so far that restored cleanly to put him last update. iphone latter came with 8.1 installed and use it for a week and did not fail. the problem appeared to restore and put him 8.1.1 . others began to fail after restore and do a clean install because it came with the iOS 8 and your so cleanly actualizer 8.1

    i have an iphone 6 plus and i just powered it off and and back on (by using the sleep/wake button) and the slide to power off - usage time/stand by time was preserved
    if you reset and iphone (holding sleep/wake and home buttons until Apple logo appears - you will see those dashes until the next time the iPhone is charged backup to 100% - this has been the behavior with every iPhone i have owned (and Ive owned every one since the original

  • Encoder counts wrong after Firmware update to 7.2?

    Hi,
    I recently updated the firmware of my motion controller card 7344 PCI to 7.2.
    Since then a 360degree-rotation in 15degrees-steps seems to miss one 15degree-step. A 360degree-rotation stopps at 345degrees
    I think that maybe the encoder counts wrong or the move function isn't executed one time.
    Has anybody expierienced similar problems or has any hints?
    Thx.
    PS. Does anybody know a way to downgrade the firmware to the version below? It seems that the firmware update causes the problem.

    saimen54,
    Odd behavior.  Is there anyway you could post the code for a simplified version of your program that exhibits this same issue.  I don't think there will be any other way to troubleshoot your issue without taking a look at the code.

  • How to create a time counter without using Sleep()?

    I want to create a time counter that would count from 120 minutes and down. I thought about using Sleep() but I have found out that Sleep() is not accurate (so maybe the countdown would take 122 minutes instead of 120 minutes!). What other alternatives do
    I have?
    Note that I want to count 1 second at a time, because I want to show the countdown progress to the user in seconds.

    The next experiment still uses Sleep and waits for approximately 12 seconds, displaying the time each second. However it is probably too overcomplicated compared to time polling:
    const
    int SECONDS_TO_WAIT =
    12;
    ULARGE_INTEGER ul_end;
    FILETIME ft;
    GetSystemTimeAsFileTime( &ft );
    ul_end.LowPart = ft.dwLowDateTime;
    ul_end.HighPart = ft.dwHighDateTime;
    ul_end.QuadPart += 10LL *
    1000 *
    1000 * SECONDS_TO_WAIT;
    for( ;; )
    FILETIME ft;
    GetSystemTimeAsFileTime( &ft );
    ULARGE_INTEGER ul;
    ul.LowPart = ft.dwLowDateTime;
    ul.HighPart = ft.dwHighDateTime;
    if( ul.QuadPart >= ul_end.QuadPart )
    break;
    SYSTEMTIME st;
    FileTimeToSystemTime( &ft, &st );
    Sleep( 1000 - st.wMilliseconds );
    GetSystemTime( &st );
    if( st.wMilliseconds >
    500 )
    FILETIME ft;
    SystemTimeToFileTime( &st, &ft );
    ULARGE_INTEGER ul;
    ul.LowPart = ft.dwLowDateTime;
    ul.HighPart = ft.dwHighDateTime;
    ul.QuadPart += 10LL *
    1000 *
    1000;
    ft.dwLowDateTime = ul.LowPart;
    ft.dwHighDateTime = ul.HighPart;
    FileTimeToSystemTime( &ft, &st );
    // show the time
    SystemTimeToTzSpecificLocalTime( NULL, &st, &st );
    printf( "%02i:%02i:%02i\n", st.wHour, st.wMinute, st.wSecond

  • IPhone 4/iOS 5:  Constant usage time increase while phone is in standby.

    When connected to any of the 3 WiFi access points at my job site, the phone's usage time meter increments constantly even with the phone is in standby. I have tested repeatedly for periods of one hour, and at the end of an hour, there will be only roughly 4-6 minutes of difference between the Usage and Standby meters).  The problem does not occur while the phone is connected to my WiFi network at home, and only happens if the phone is set to back up via WiFi on the home network.  If I revert to backing up only via USB, the problem goes away.  This was happening with iOS 5.0 and continues with 5.0.1 .  Any help would be appreciated, since there is considerable battery drain that comes with whatever the phone is doing during this "usage" time, and I've had to resort to turning WiFi on and off constantly while at work.

    i would say 15 minutes is enough. if more than that, put to dfu mode back and try restore. extra info if ios 5.1 fail to be downloaded, try read this http://osxdaily.com/2012/03/09/cant-download-ios-5-1-try-these-fixes/

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then see if placing the iPod in airplane mode when in standby helps.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • How to add an "age / time counter" into DW?

    Can anyone assist on how to add an age / time counter into DW?
    In other words to say "Child X is now a years, b months old"? or "Product Z was launched A years B months ago"? Or, on the other hand, "You only have Z days & Y minutes left to enter"? With it updating in real time?
    Apologies in advance if this is a silly / obvious question but I just can't seem to do it!

    This isn't something you would add to DW, you would need to add it to your webpages. You would do this with javascript. Search the web for
    'javascript countdown timer' for plenty of examples.

  • USB 8451 no timer / counter ?

    Hi all,
    i´m not sure if i´m in the right topic now, but i found no answer with the search function.
    I tried to generate an digital pulse using timer/counter functions with Labview 8.5 and an USB 8451, but it didn´t work.
    Is it possible that the USB 8451 doesn´t support timer / counter signals?
    Thanks for all your answer!

    Hi AK2DM,
    thanks for catching this one. I missed the important piece of information that the original poster would like to generate pulses. We have a KB-entry for this. You could also generate software-timed pulses with the 8451. The jitter (timing deviation), as you mentioned, could be a problem. The same issue arises with the 6501 I mentioned!
    For generating pulse trains I would recommend a basic E or M series device such as the 6210 USB.
    If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
    Best regards,

Is that possible?  What is the battery actually called?
