Usage time

I noticed that the usage time increases even when the phone is on standby and no application in MT, push email and notifications are disabled. I wanted to know if everybody does it or if that is my trouble. Thank you.

If you restored it from the backup of an older iPhone, it picked up the lifetime usage from that.

  • I bought my 15" macbook pro i7 just a year ago and my battery life runs out extremely quick..at fully charged it says I only have 2:27 of usage time. I didn't pay for that-what can I do about it? I do have Apple care. Thanks.

I bought my 15" macbook pro just a year ago and my battery life runs out extremely quickly. This started maybe a month or two ago. Its hard to tell. I only noticed the rapid change recently. Fully charged it says I have 2:27 (2 hours and 27 minutes) of usage time...with about 50% screen and keyboard brightness.
I've checked inside system preferences and its cycle count is 261 and full charging cap is 6316.
I have apple care...is this something i can/need to take up with apple. You'd think if you pay the price for these machines you should get mroe use out of them.
ONLY A YEAR I'VE HAD THIS!
My PC lasted 4 years before the battery showed signs this dramatic of wear.
Any help is appreciated, im  new mac owner. thanks.

do you have a mbp with dual video cards? running the system with the higher end card increases the heat and also drains batt power.
i have the 1st gen unibody (2008) with an original removable battery of 311 cycles and 4453 charge. under normal use ill be happy to get 1.5hrs. the mac battery counter thing says i have 3.3hrs though (whatever). compared to me, i think you use your battery more than i do, perhaps its the reason why it degraded so fast in a year?

  • IPhone 4/iOS 5:  Constant usage time increase while phone is in standby.

When connected to any of the 3 WiFi access points at my job site, the phone's usage time meter increments constantly even with the phone is in standby. I have tested repeatedly for periods of one hour, and at the end of an hour, there will be only roughly 4-6 minutes of difference between the Usage and Standby meters).  The problem does not occur while the phone is connected to my WiFi network at home, and only happens if the phone is set to back up via WiFi on the home network.  If I revert to backing up only via USB, the problem goes away.  This was happening with iOS 5.0 and continues with 5.0.1 .  Any help would be appreciated, since there is considerable battery drain that comes with whatever the phone is doing during this "usage" time, and I've had to resort to turning WiFi on and off constantly while at work.

i would say 15 minutes is enough. if more than that, put to dfu mode back and try restore. extra info if ios 5.1 fail to be downloaded, try read this http://osxdaily.com/2012/03/09/cant-download-ios-5-1-try-these-fixes/

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then see if placing the iPod in airplane mode when in standby helps.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • What's wrong with usage time of my iphone

i just checked usage of call time on my iphone4 and surprisingly found out that my current period of call time is 4,294,963,694 day and lifetime is 4,294,963,694 day. i just saved screen shot. i'm just curious anyone have similar usage time?

    Hiya,
I noticed the same issue a few months ago before I upgraded to OS vs 4.2.1.
My 'Current Period' call time is correct (6 Hours 25 Mins) but Lifetime displays 4,294,963,689 Days, 4,2..
I've done a 'Reset All Settings' but it restores the same information from the backup.

  • Usage time is greatly inflated

I have my phone set to auto-lock with a passcode after one minute and my email checking set to "manual". After fully charging my phone overnight my Usage and Standby counters were reset to "0". I briefly checked my numbers before leaving the house and they read Usage: 2m and Standby: 3m.
Since checking those stats this morning I have not touched my phone except to press the Home button once to look at the time. I did receive two SMS messages.
After 12 hours of non-use my Usage now reads 1h 15m. Anyone know what would be inflating the Usage stats or why it would be showing the wrong usage?

Okay so I restored the phone to its factory settings about 21 hours ago. I have used the phone a bit for surfing, watching movies, you tube, and using the calandar as well as being on the phone for 1 hour and 22 minutes. Wifi was on most of that time and I kept the phone on standby while I was't using it and while I slept.
I am happy to report that the usage is "somewhat" correct. It says that my total usage is 3 hrs 26 mins. However, even if you take the phone out of standby for a second it will record a minute or two of usage time. But it is not recording large amounts of usage while in standby and the battery is currently showing a 50 % charge. Which coincides with Apples battery specs.
In conclusion, the full restore seemed to work like a charm and the battery and the phone are doing great...As Advertised.

  • Ipad does not show usage times any more

Hi, my ipad no longer shows the usage times of itself. It merely shows a '-' mark where usage and standby times are normally shown.
This may have occurred after the ios6 update but I cannot be sure.
Any ideas on what the problem is or how it can be fixed?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi guys,
    I've since fixed the problem.
Martha I recommend that you download an app for battery charging so that it will tell you the percentage that the iPad is charged. Then charge the iPad fully and as it reaches 100% it should display 0 mins in both boxes.
I did a restore prior to this but it did not seen to have any effect.
I'm not even sure why the iPad went like this but mine has been fine since.
    Hope this helps

  • Iphone 6 plus the battery usage times are erased when you turn off and back on iphone

i´m desperate. this has already happened with 4 new different iphone. I have it a week ago and suddenly when i turn it on un the morning  i deleted the hours of use and standby battery. I get two hyphens . Reloading up to 100% and the counter is reset. but when you come back off and on again disappears again use times.I restored, reset settings and many other things but can not find the solution. has passed me at least 4 different iphones and the truth is that leads me crazy. someone could help me because in support anyone give me a solution.
many thanks. you are the only option left for me to discover something so rare and unanswered.
PD: so if I have observed is that when new and still has not restored works well. I have been working well so far that restored cleanly to put him last update. iphone latter came with 8.1 installed and use it for a week and did not fail. the problem appeared to restore and put him 8.1.1 . others began to fail after restore and do a clean install because it came with the iOS 8 and your so cleanly actualizer 8.1

i have an iphone 6 plus and i just powered it off and and back on (by using the sleep/wake button) and the slide to power off - usage time/stand by time was preserved
if you reset and iphone (holding sleep/wake and home buttons until Apple logo appears - you will see those dashes until the next time the iPhone is charged backup to 100% - this has been the behavior with every iPhone i have owned (and Ive owned every one since the original

  • Usage Time- Does it include calls??

Right now, my 4S' battery is at 75% with 1 hour 32 minutes of usage and 9 hours 27 minutes of standby. This seems worse than the battery life I've been getting recently, but I have made/accepted more calls today than usual, but I feel like the 1 hour 32 minutes doesn't reflect that. Does anyone know if the usage time factors in the call time?

I see the same issue. Allan is correct according to Apple. However I often see total usage lower than the sum of calls I made. Ans that includes email and texting and application updates etc. Just today I had like 50 minutes of usage showing  then had over an hour of phone calls and then had like 56 min usage when I looked. I then went back to see how long the calls were and they were over an hour 1 hr 10 min maybe. So It sometimes is not registering. I have seen this several times with iOS 5 all versions and now with iOS 6.0.1.

  • Unaccounted for "usage time"?? this happened 2 nites in a row..and counting

ok,, so here's something strange and for the life of me i can't figure this out.. i'm sure nobody would notice this, so i thought i'd throw it out here for some logical answers..
the last 2 nights, i notice when i go to bed, i have about 75-80% battery and about 40 mins of usage/ 18 hrs+ of standby. obviously, i can see in the settings tab and look at the usage to get these numbers..
well.. after roughly 8 hrs of sleep.... the battery is now about 20-25% LESS,,AND in the usage,, it's gone from 40" to 1'11-15"?????
now i know the first answer might be someone is using my phone when i sleep,, but i am 100% sure this is not the case..LOL...
btw,, all my location, push, are all OFF..
this has happened 2 nights in a row,, and during the day.. i am not noticing this usage time adding up when my phone is in standby..
can anyone give some reasonable explanation???

maybe you have apps running in the background that you could close, it may be causeing yoru phoen to be accessign data or somethign

  • What can I do to increase battery usage time to greater than 6 hours?

What can I do to increase battery usage time to greater than 6 hours?     I have a New iPad purchased 03/23/2012 64K-WiFi.    I recharge it and get another 6 hours usage.  I am using it primarily for reading books.  Are there any applications I can turn off to get back to 10 hours?

@Ralph9430   The changes you recommended were implemented.  This afternoon approximately at the same time and with similar usage all day The New iPad had 36% left on battery.  This is a gain of 30% battery life.  Thank you.  Your suggestions resolved the issues.

  • Drastic reduction in battery usage time after OS B...

Drastic reduction in battery usage time after OS Belle update. Without calls or any application use  - one day! I am using a Nokia C7-00.  Any solution to the problem?

Many folks, including myself have had success with correcting this with a battery cycling...
Basically...drain the battery until iPhone shuts itself off...Then charge using a home power outlet and NOT a Computer USB...
Then allow it to drain again fully until it shuts off...then again Charge fully using Home outlet...
Even though these batteries don't carry memory...this process seems to correct battery issues with the cells themselves just not acting properly...

  • Weird usage times

Every time that I charge the iPhone in the dock, once it's fully charged, the usage time starts to rack up, like even if it is still on the dock, it acts as if it's being used, so the usage hours go up, so it makes it seem like the battery life is godlike, does this happen with anyone else? And is it bad?

Our links look different but do go to the same thread.
Likely because I searched for the post and you found the thread.
As mentioned, since the update, my phone functions the way I expected it to....
That's how I expected it to function too - indeed it makes less sense that it would work the other way in terms of having stats at all. As I say though, mine has not changed behavior in that regard with the update - it currently shows standby of almost 6 hours, indicating it reached full charge in the middle of the night, where it was, of course, left connected to the charger once the full charge was achieved.
There's no other indication of a problem with the update process, nor anything I would consider an issue with my phone since it behaved itself prior to the update too (including being able to correctly display full charge status).
    A curiosity!

  • Usage timer/Battery drain since 4.2.1

Before the iOS 4.2.1 upgrade, I owned a very stable handset with an incredible battery.
After the upgrade the phone developed a Usage timer that matched the Standby timer minute for minute. The battery life diminshed much more rapidly suggesting something was running in the background. I shut down everything conceivable, deleted mail acounts and turned every setting off, including Wifi. The only way to stop the Usage clock was to turn Airplane mode on.
I tried a hard reset and resetting network settings without any improvement.
Then I tried Reset all Settings and bingo, things went back to normal...... until... I turned the phone off and back on, which caused the phone to begin playing up again in the way I described.
The simplest way around this is not to turn the phone off and if I have to (which is rare) I need to do a "reset all settings" again.
    Programmers!!!! Grrrrrrr..
    Any ideas??
