USB 2.0 problem (K7N2G-ILSR and HP PSC 2210)

I'm using a K7N2G-ILSR mainboard in combination with a HP PSC 2210 all-in-one printer. The printer sometimes stops printing and produces an error. The print can not be deleted and I have to reset the computer.
I'm using the latest HP drivers for the printer, Windows XP Pro with all Windows Update fixes and the latest upgrades for teh mainboard (Live-Update).
Is this a known error and is there a fix/workaround (can I set the USB in the BIOS to 1.1 only (instead of 1.1 and 2.0)??
According to HP it is related to the chipset and the USB driver. Until now I have not find a document explaining the problem for this mainboard and a proper solution.
Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks for your help!
Cees

Cables are cables still at this point in the game so it could be that you have a faulty cable but there are no special 2.0 cables to buy...
Never been a big fan of the All-in-one printer/scanner/copiers, I've had nothing but problems most of the time when my clients buy them...but they still buy them...if you think about it they really only came out just over a year and a half ago so that technology isn't quite mature yet...
I doubt that it has anything to do with your setup directly, it sounds like a driver issue and one that's clashing with another driver that's used for something else in your machine...no I don't know what cause I don't know what you are using in your system heheheh
I had a client that bought one of the newer photo printers, why I don't know cause he doesn't even own a digital camera, but he just had to have one, but anyway, it would error out everytime he tried to print to it...I reloaded his system and systematically added in one component at a time...writing down everything I did...when I put in his ATI All-In-Wonder card and loaded the software for the TV part lo and behold when I printed I got the error again...couldn't fix it for my life either with all the newest drivers from ATI and HP...went backwards in time for older drivers to no avail...the guy stiffed me on the bill for over $1000.00 and I've not heard from him again so I can't tell you if he fixed it or not at this point...
Cheers!! 8)

  • K7n2g ILSR and SPDIF output not working

just got a new k7n2g ILSR mobo and cant get the coaxial spdif output to work.
Have attached the s bracket connector and a coaxial cable from that to my videologic digitheatre. My speakers don't seem to be receiving any signal however. Checked the audio settings on the nforce control panel and all seems sweet. any suggestions?
    Thanks for any replies

I have the very same problem. I thought that the S-Bracket was defected so I borrowed one from a friend of mine. We have the very same board and we bought it the very same day. And it did not work either. :(
Then I made a little test. The user's manual displays the pin layout of the S-Bracket connector on the mobo so I connected two little wires to the appropriate connectors and connected the wires to a standard RCA connector. Then I connected this to my receiver's coax port and it worked!
So it seems to me that the S-Bbracket was (and IS) defected. Then I thought that my friend and I had the same faulty series of S-Bracket but now I don't know what to think...

  • K7N2G-ILSR and WD300BB No Go

Just got my new K7N2G-ILSR motherboard. Yanked out my old board and ploped the nice shinny new board in. Installed 2 new sticks of Crucial 2700 DDR ram and a brand new XP 2600+. Attached my drive cables and fired that motha up. Well, got to the IDE detection phase and there she hung.
Tried everything, upgraded to the latest 1.2 BIOS and still no go. So I pulled a Maxtor 20Gig drive out of my wifes machine and away it went. Went through the IDE detection and started the WinXP install. I aborted the install, and thought, hay maybe the WD300BB died. But I pluged it into my wifes computer and "Boom" up it came.
Anyone else haveing problems with the Western Digital drives and this board?

  • HP TouchSmart 600 and HP psc 2210 all-in-one printer

    Hi SiobhanF,
I just registered and this is my first post.
I recently bought a new PC...an HP TouchSmart 600.  My printer is a HP psc 2210 all-in-one.  I need advice on whether the two are compatible and if so how to get them working together.
    Thank you,
    waj

This is likely caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  Remove the black cartridge and print a test page.  Does the printer print at normal speed?  Is so the black cartridge was the issue and should be replaced.  If not then put the black cartridge back in and remove the color cartridge and print test page.  If the printer now prints normal speed the color cartridge was at fault and needs to be replaced.

  • K7N2G-ILSR and XP-M 3000?

I see some of these floating around on ebay.  Is it a problem to use the xp-m chip?  I do not want to overclock.  I assume it runs in 166x13?  Also, in the bios the lowest cpu core voltage is 1.55, will that be too high (or does it matter, since these are just unlocked, binned parts, but otherwise same core as standard XP3000 333?
Would I just be better off getting a conventional xp3000?
Also, I am upgrading from an XP2100.  Is this a waste of $?  I really don't feel like rebuilding my whole system right now (to use dragon naturallyspeaking) and was hoping a memory upgrade to 1.5 gb and maybe upping the cpu to xp3000 would be good enough for now...
    Thanks!

I have been searching ebay and trying to figure a way to optimise your system and I really think that you should consider using this as your back up machine and going for a new build. To see any real speed improvement you would have to find a Barton 3200 or a Mobile Barton and get your memory up to DDR400. Between the risk of buying used ebay components and the cost of a CPU and New memory you would be better served spending the effort and money elsewhere.
Multi-tasking is always going to be better on a dual core machine.
If you cant afford a new core2duo system (probably $1,500 to $2,000) then I would suggest incrementally upgrading. I prefer MSI products but for this purpose I would recommend an ASROCK 775Dual-VSTA. The beauty of this Mobo, even though it does have limits, is that you can use most of your current system and buy new parts as you get the money. http://www.asrock.com/product/775Dual-VSTA.htm
The Motherboard and a C2D E6300 should run under $250, you would use all your other components. Then over time upgrade to PCIe and DDRII, at which point it would be time to get a really nice Motherboard say a Msi 975X PUE or a P6N.

  • K7N2G-ILSR and Raid with ATA HDD

    Hi,
I was wondering if its possible to use two WD 80 GB ATA hdd's in raid on this mobo. I have one WD800JB and I wanna buy another one to use in Raid 0. Note..these are no SATA hdd's...
Do you guys have some info on installing these hdd's in raid...how's it done?
I hope you can help me.

only if you also buy sata adaptors really as well
ide 3 supports a single drive only

  • Raid problems with K7N2G ILSR

I have the following setup and problem:
    K7N2G ILSR
    NEC DVD-+RW 1300A
    Seagate SATA 120gb HD
    350W PSU with "210" 3.3 + 5.0
    BIOS V 1.4
    2 x Hynix 256mb DDR 333
I was able to setup the SATA drive as a single RAID drive and install XP pro.
Now, 9/10 times, the system will not boot.  I receive a
"No drive attached to fasttrak controller"
    message.
When the system DOES boot, it works great, and I can leave in on for days with NO problems.
I know the Hynix memory is not "approved", but since the system is stable (when it does boot), and assume its not a memory problem.
The problem still occurs even after:
I changes the SATA cable (data and power)
I changed the DVD cable and slot (1-3)
I even disconneced the DVD and / or Floppy.
    No change
    Help!!!!!

I have already tried two different types of Ram. 512 MB DDR 333 (I don't know the timing exactly but it's a CL2.5 Ram) and another one from a different manufacturer. Also DDR 333 CL 2.5. Then I combined both. But the raid controller didn't show any reaction and I can't imagine that the problem is the power supply because everything else works fine. Anyway... I will try to get a new K7NG2-ILSR on guarantee, sell my whole computer and buy the new K7N2-Delta because I have only problems with the K7N2G-ILSR.

  • Confused with K7N2G-ILSR DLED reading

I just put together a new system using the K7N2G-ILSR and t isnt booting. I am using the baord with an Antec 300W power supply, AthlonXP 2700+ and 512 MB of crucial DDR PC2100. witht he processor in it goes through the first DLED which is the top two LEDs red and the bottom two green and then changes to the top left LED green and the other three LEDs not lighting up at all. After taking the processor out it would hang at the first LED cycle which is top two red and bottom two green and in the bok it means that the processor is not installed proerly or damaged. The next pattern it would cycle to is top left green and the rest red which is early chipset initialization. Since it is hanging with just the top left light green and the others not lighting at all does that mean there is a problem with the chipset or a problem with the processor?

I like to contribute a little. I bought a mother board K7N2G-ILSR upgraded my PC. First, I booted up with Windows 98SE most of hardware is working include on-board network port which connected with RoadRunner cable modem except not USB 2.0. I have decided to upgrade to Windows XP SP1. My first try of upgrading to  Windows XP looks okay for most hardware, then I found out that network is not working. After several investigation, I see no MAC address show on network driver property. I reinstall (restore from backup) Windows 98SE then network is worked fine. I memo the MAC address. Again, upgraded to Windows XP SP1, enter the MAC address into NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Controler's property "NetWork Address". After rebooted the Windows XP the on-board network port is working perfect. This must be glich in nForce2 driver.

  • ...on-board NIC issues with K7N2G-ILSR

After reading several posts on this issue, it sounds as if a ton of people are having problems with their K7N2G-ILSR on-board NIC.  My problem is pretty strange...  When i'm on the internet (WinXP Pro, cable modem/Linksys BEFSX41 firewall router), my NIC works fairly well.. maybe 90% of time.  I can also 'connect' to other machines on my LAN just fine.  However, if i attempt to transfer data between my K7N2G-ILSR and another PC, the LAN conenction icon flashes back and forth between 'connected' and 'disconnected.'  I also have this problem when i try to download anything...  It's driving me friggin crazy!!
I haven't tried the MAC address solution (copying the NIC MAC address into the BIOS).  Before i give that a shot, does anyone have any updated news regarding this issue?
    Thanks for the help...  Mike

  • K7N2G-ILSR: On-board video too unstable to use

Putting together a new computer for my son.  Using K7N2G-ILSR and was really looking forward to the onboard video.  Using Athlon XP 2100 (from my prior machine -- 100 percent solid CPU) and initially bought Corsair 2700 256MB with the new board.  As an immediate downer, the board refused to work with the memory (nonstop beeping/D-LED stuff, etc.) at power up (tried all slots -- same result).  Observation: this compares very unfavorably with my highly-favorable experience with Soyo boards, by the way.  Swapped out that memory with Kingston 2700 256MB from my daughter's machine, which is running Soyo Dragon Lite.
Ok, so after some immediate (and unnecessary) memory hassle, got system to boot.  CPU is running fine and cool at 50 deg C.
Next (BIG, BIG) problem: Onboard Video is WAY, WAY too unstable in Windows 2000 to be usable.  At the outset, the video is showing random horizontal streaks (of trash) across the screen.  The only time I've seen that before in my 15 years of PC use is in a Diamond video card a long time ago that was also defective.  However, I can live with streaks.  The problem is that the machine crashes every time, 100 percent of the time, within 15-90 seconds of booting into Windows 2000 (SP3).  (Of course, used latest video driver from a web site, different settings, different refresh rates, and all the other usual stuff, etc., etc., etc.)  By the way, I had the patience to try this with and without SP3, and tried a zillon different bios settings.  Nothing worked -- same immediate crash problem.  Also booted into safe mode and same deal -- but at least that confirms that the problem is probably underlying hardware-related problem, not software/driver problem.  (If it can't run under generic Windows VGA driver, then it probably can't run under anything  else.)
Only solution is to swap in an existing AGP card.  That solves the problem 100 percent but I am not exactly happy camper since I paid for the on-board video (and for budget reasons the card that I am swapping in is not exactly cutting-edge.)
If anyone has a silver bullet fix for this, I would love to hear it.  Otherwise, I will assume that the onboard AGP is defective and/or poorly designed, whereupon I would have been better off not spending the extra money for it.  My best guess is that the memory and/or other video circuitry is defective.
Otherwise, happy with the underlying performance of the motherboard itself but the video fiasco is a BIG letdown. :O
    Thanks.

SILVER BULLET FOUND!!! (and it was free)  BIG, BIG, BIG cigar to Bikeman for his above post, which focused my attention on the BIOS.  Had considered it at the outset, but figured there was no way I was going to need to flash a brand spanking new board.  But when you read the BIOS update notes, one of its fixes is with Kingston memory which is currently in the board.  Recall from above, however, that Kingston was a fallback as board complained bitterly about the Corsair memory that I bought with the board.  (My daugher's Dragon Lite is quite happy with either memory.)
So here's the rundown.  Actually couldn't see what bios ver. I had at POST as text went by way too fast.  So install live update software which confirmed that I had older v. 1.2 bios.  (Interestingly, the live update itself was old enough that it itself had to self-update before I could use).  Flashed BIOS to 1.3 using the Windows version of update, which I will report worked real smooth.
Rebooted and proceeded to install fresh nVidia driver from nVidia website.  However, I can tell you that the BIOS was definitely the problem because before I wouldn't have been able to easily get to the point of installing video driver without 5-10 crash/reboot cycles -- so the new-found stability made it very clear that the BIOS update was the "silver bullet" I was looking for.
Postscript impressions:  (1) MSI boards are VERY finiky about memory (which is a problem that I have never had with Soyo boards), and (2) this is the 2nd MSI board I have bought and the 2nd one that has had severe bios issues.  The first board was a low-end A socket board with AMI bios that arrived faulty/trashed -- half way thru POST, bios would start spitting out garbage ASCII characters.
Again thanks again to Bikeman for saving me from spending any more money (on psu or other memory) and for letting my son's system now run 8X AGP.

  • K7N2G-ILSR, Corsair TWINX512 3200, Barton 2500

Is anyone out there running this setup?  I have read mixed things about the K7N2G-ILSR and Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT 512MB DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Memory.  Just wanted to make sure that the two actually work together.  Thanks.
    Scudd

    Scudd,
Check to make sure that the RAM is nForce Approved. If you are not sure, call Corsair and ask them.  Personally I only use the High Performance Level II Black Muchkin RAM and it is 100% Rock Solid Stable with nForce.
    Take Care,

  • K7N2G-ILSR MS-6570 barton 3000 support?

I'm just about to buy a new system with the K7N2G-ILSR, and i'd like to know if it supports the barton 3000.

Any suggestions to changes to the above are appreciatet.
    Thanks

According to MSI's CPU support page the K7N2G-ILSR does officially support the XP3000+ Barton with 333Mhz FSB but not 400Mhz FSB. If 400Mhz FSB support is important to you you may want to consider as an alternative the K7N2 Delta-ILSR which should be available shortly (end of the month?). Details here of CPU support:-
