USB 2.0 required to update iPad2?

I have a MacPro which I purchased in 2008 or so, and my iPad 2 will not charge or update when plugged into the USB port. It will back up and sync my data, but I receive an error message when it tries to update to the newest OS. Is this caused by not having USB 2.0 on this computer, or is the error message being caused by something else?

To update to iOS 5.x, you must connect to your Mac. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed using wifi.
Are you using anti-virus software? if so, disable it temporarly. Also, a firewall on your router could inhibit the update.
Even if you only have USB 1.1, it will still update, but slower. I assume you are running at least Leopard OS 10.5.8, but do you have the latest version of iTunes?

Some users have experience multiple issues with this product and I am trying to determine how to resolve these issues. I have the USB 3.0 dock connected to the 3.0 USB port on the Folio. The unit I am testing seems to be working fine as I have dual monitors up, external keyboard and mouse are working.
I ran the .exe, a command window comes up, and it attempted to look for the device. The text is as shown:

This has been tried on several devices and it simply does not work. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have contacted support which was a complete waste of time because they have no idea what I am talking about.

I'm going to return my dock if possible. My main problem is that I cannot view Vmware virtual machine which is required for work. 2nd I can't view photos on my dual screens, it just hangs saying "Loading...", but I can view them on my W520 LCD Display. 3rd, I can't view a downloaded video, as in an .mp4. I disabled the hardware acceleration in Firefox, so I can see streaming video.
I have a Thinkpad W520 and an X1 Carbon and both exhibit the same problems with the dock.
I tried upgrading the DisplayLink Drivers to the 7.x version and that created a slew of problems. The Dock firmware driver link in the OP doesn't work either. As mentioned it couldn't find the device. Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the stock one cause lots of problems with my W520. The dock would try to connect but it kept connecting and disconnecting and the cycle would continue infinitly. It wasn't until I did a system restore that I could get it working again to where I can use the dock again.
I am extremely dissapointed with this dock.

Required source 'update' is missing

Hello, I just installed Xp on my new macbook pro and when i put the osx disk in to install windows support things it says something like it needs to update it's installer. And I say "ok" it says "required source 'update' is missing". What do i do??

Windows installer is a MS technology that does the interpreting when installing .msi and .msp installer packages. I suggest downloading the latest from http://download.microsoft.com/ and putting on your xp install via USB memory (assuming you cannot DL directly in XP).
I think its also an update on windows/microsoft update...

Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. I'm also affected by this bug in exactly the same way as you.
Some users have had success by closing iTunes, enetering (on OS 10.9) settings --> network --> edit locations, then create a new location with the same wifi/network settings. Then restarting iTunes.
Others have had some success by editing settings --> iCloud --> de-selecting keychain
neither of these fixes have worked for me.
It appears that the iPad can "see" iTunes running on my iMac because when I open settings --> general --> 'iTunes wifi sync', "sync now" is greyed out if iTunes is not running. When iTunes is started, "sync now" is enabled but just doesn't work. Nor does the iPad appear in iTunes.

I'm not sure what "Mail Update for Mac OS X 10.5.6" is. Mac OS X 10.5.6 is Leopard, a system that is quite old at this point. There have not been any Mail updates for Leopard in quite some time. If you are trying to install some old Mail update for Mac OS X 10.5.6 in Mavericks, that won't work.
If you are trying to install the Mavericks Mail update manually, that's not necessary if you have updated through the App Store. If the App Store shows no updates, you don't need this. (The error message doesn't make sense, and may indicate some other problem with your system, assuming that you were downloading this update from Apple's site.)

Just to be clear. You have downloaded the Yosemite installer. However you say while it's updating you get the error you are not online. This is confusing since you shouldn't be able to use your computer in the process of updating.
Exactly where do you see you need to 10.9 to get on Safari?

Have you encrypted the backups files from your iPad? If so, that is likely the password needed.

I don't understand why ITunes doesn't have an update version available instead of a total download. Also, do I need to get rid of version 4 when I am done downloading? Because if I don't like this version, I want to uninstall it but keep the original version.
In order to update it has to remove the old version so it can properly install all the new files that are apart of the new version. THis is why you download the whole program and this is why you don't have to worry about "Gettin rid" of itunes 4 because it will remove it for you.

You need to get you a "Download manager" if your on dail up and install it. With these programs it will save any "Incomplete" downloads should you get disconnected AND most will auto reconnect too to finish the download. Just make sure you SAVE the download.

Yes and no, you need the new iTUnes 7 if you plan on using itunes to manage your ipod. THe new iTUnes 7 has the ipod software needed for your ipod, since the ipod is new all other older itunes will not have it.
There are other programs you can use with the ipod, but its highly recommended to use itunes with it

Have you tried swiping up or down on the screen in the photos app? When you swipe up or down, that cycles through the Photo, Video and Square modes in the app. The current mode appears in yellow type.
The screen on the iPad in photos App is going to look different that what you see if you click on the link that was posted for you above - that link shows what the screen will look like on the iPhone, but they are similar.

With ASA 9.0 and AnyConnect, you have to enabled SSL on the IKEv2 Profile, it seems that disabling this disables the ability to deliver the Profile, with is enabled on the IKEv2 Profile, the actual profiles get delivered without error.
Previously I only allowed IKEv2 connections and had SSL disable on the profile itself, now in order for the profile to get delivered to the end user, it must also be enabled.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
