USB Adapter for Express Card??

I have a Verizon ExpressCard (PC770) that I use with my Dell laptop. Is there an adapter that will allow me to use it through my USB port on my MacBook?

To the best of my knowledge, no. That card appears to be PCI-based and the existing USB ExpressCard adapters will only work with USB-based ExpressCards.
Regards.

Does anybody know a USB 3.0 express card that works with Macbook Pro using Lion?
I just got an IOGear express card from Amazon that did NOT make it clear that it was Windows only.
Only after I tried to install it was it painfully obvious it was Windows only.
    Thanks

Hey mark327 do you know if i can use this card as well with this driver?

  • Firewire adapter or express card???

Trying to upload video from my camcorder to my Toshiba satellite A135 but I have no firewire port.... I'm so confused as to if I need a firewire adapter or express card and unfortunately the guys at my best buy are no help at all someone help please

Tape based camcorders have been phased  out a number of years now.
It's hard enough to train staff on new and current products.  Training staff skills to answer questions about products they no longer sell is much harder
Your camcorder is a MiniDV based camera, so a firewire port is best for asynchronous transfer to minimized dropped frames.  Some firewire ports plug into an express card slot.
To clarify, what software are you planning to edit your footage?  Some software products may include the necessary port.

    Reviewing your computer...
it appears you might have a low to mid-range duo core laptop from 2007.... expect your video editing to be slow.
120gb @ 5400rpm may mean your hard drive will be filling up quickly.  1hr of MiniDV footage is 13.7gb.  You need work space, swap space and also output space.
Does your laptop only have 1gb of RAM???  You're going to be in pain.
some models already come with a firewire port.
You might want to look at a new quad-core machine.

  • USB adapter for old imac

I know this should be in the crt imac forum, but i need a response soon.
I'm looking for a wireless usb adapter for a crt imac. This mac has the capability to use an airport card, but none is installed.
Are there any usb adapters that are mac compatible? If not, is there anywhere i can find an old airport card (not airport extreme).

    Hi John,
    You want one of these:

It connects to the ethernet port. I have the 'B' version on an old 450DV+, and it works well.

  • Ligthning adaptator for SD card

I bought the ligthning adaptator for SD card, I'm obliged to reboot the ipad in order it works ! Do you have the same problem ?

    Hi Haakman,
After you insert a SD Card into a computer with a fresh installation of Windows XP for the first time, the AutoPlay functionality of your WXP OS may not work. However, after you insert the SD Card into your Notebook, the AutoPlay functionality may start to work again.
As far as I know, the Auto Play may not be started because WXP has not initialized your SD Card device in registry. What you can do is to restart the system with a SD Card inserted in the SD Card slot. This should reinitialize the SD Card registry entry.
Try it please, and let us know if Auto play functionality work properly.

In some folks' version of the world, you have plenty of ways. YOu have the aforementioned services, you have iCloud, all you need is an internet connection and you're good to go. And that works perfectly...if you always have the internet.
If you want more non-internet dependant ways, then the best way to let Apple know is to send them feedback. They don't monitor or respond to this forum (Beyond removing rule breaking posts) but they do at least log feedback. However, the lack of a file manager will always be an obstacle. There are some apps out there that have at least a pseudo file manager - as in the ability to move documents into multiple other apps. I have Readdle Docs which I can use to download and move things around with, but again, back to the internet or wireless.

I'm having a brand new unopened Apple 5W USB adapter from UK for my iphone 5. I want an Indian version USB adapter. Will Apple Store replace my USB adapter for free of cost ?

Perhaps, but maybe not, as what can they do with one with the UK plugs?  I'm just saying regional things like that often have to be returned at a store in the country you bought them.
But, just go and ask as the worse they can say is no.  If they do say no they cannot exchange it, then for very little money you can buy a UK-to-India plug adapter and use that charger in India anyway.  Such plug adapters are only $2-$5 here in the USA on Amazon.

Probably not normally, Apple has removed some of the hidden features of the USB dongle via a software update for iPad. One of those features was playing host to hard drives, keyboards, etc.

  • USB adapter for PB3400/OS8.1

I have a PB3400 running OS8.1. I'd like to be able to connect a (PC compatible) USB memory stick to it, so I'm looking a for a USB adapter. The PB3400 has a slot for PCMCIA card. I've found a plenty of PCMCIA USB adapter cards but none will work with OS8.1. Are there any drivers available? Do I have any other options?
    Many thanks.

    Alan,
Even though the PB3400 does not officially support USB (32-bit), it does have the Texas Instruments 32-bit chip on the logic board. You do, however, require a minimum of OS 8.6 so you can install the USB Adapter Card Support.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=31132
Here also is a website discussing using a USB PC card on the 3400:
    http://www.wwc.edu/~frohro/Cardbus/Cardbus.html
Please be aware that even a USB 2.0 PC card will still only run at the slower 1.1-speeds under 8.6 > 9.2.2. Also, the USB and FireWire PC cards do not supply the bus power required to run peripherals like a USB 2.5" HD, so I don't know how much voltage is required for the USB memory stick.
You may be better served with this configuration:
    - Buy the SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter (16-bit) for the PCMCIA card slot of the 3400; no drivers are required.
    - Buy the SanDisk MS/MS Pro I/ II Reader (USB) for any computer that has a USB port.
    - Buy a SanDisk xxxMB Memory Stick PRO.
All of the above can be seen at this link; just at the Products list on the left side. I imagine similar hardware is available from other vendors also.

Hi, Alan. Support for the then brand-new USB protocol in OS 8.1 was really rudimentary — no modern USB device is likely to be compatible with it. USB support wasn't even halfway mature until OS 8.6. Are you reluctant to upgrade to 8.6 or even 9.1?
There is another possible problem: I don't remember whether the 3400's PCMCIA slot is 32-bit CardBus-compliant, and I don't know whether a USB 1.1 adapter card would require that compliance. (I suspect that any USB 2.0 card would require it, and you'll never get USB 2.0 speed on a 3400 anyway: OS X 10.2.3 or 10.3.4 or later is required for USB 2.0 support. So don't buy a USB 2.0 card.) But you should be able to get reliable info about these specifications and requirements from an exceptionally knowledgeable poster over here who goes by the name of jpl. Good luck.
