I was updating my iPhone 4S to the iOS 7 system. During update my phone froze. It's stuck on insert USB cable connect to itunes screen. I've already tried turning my phone off holding Home key while inserting my cord into phone and nothing worked. I've tried DFU mode and that wont work either. What the heck do I do now? So annoyed with this.

I've also restarted my computer and still nothing.

You are not alone. Thousands have this problem, on various models of Macs. Short answer, it has something to do with the disk going to sleep (possibly?). You can't do anything about it and Apple won't address the problem. Maybe you should buy a time capsule. Just keep giving them money and use their proprietary equipment.

  • Unable to remove the USB cable

iPod nano ? generation w/ 8 GB, model A1236. Put on USB cable to charge from my computer. I'm not able to easily remove the cable from the iPod.
Any suggestions about how to do so?

Thanks for this simple solution-I lost the instruction sheet which came with my iPod and the answer wasn't in "iPod, The Missing Manual" - At least I couldn't find it. Your 'suggestion' was THE ANSWER.
PLEASE: Keep up the good help.

  • Finding it very hard to remove and insert USB cable.

So Ive just bought this new iPod touch 4G and I am finding it difficult to insert and remove the cable, I have to yank it out with force, is this normal? I didnt remember it being this difficult on my 3G iPod I had. I do have a hard case on the back but there is plenty of room to put in the jack and USB cable, there is nothing that is getting in the way as far as I can see.

    I've had a similar situation.
Removing the USB end of the lightning charging cable from the keyboard was a major battle.  The design is too slippery, there is no way to get a good grip on it.  I had to use a screwdriver to lever it out - and even then I was terrified that something was going to break.
Then yesterday I finally had an opportunity to use the earbuds - and the connector there again was too smooth to grip.  I have never had this problem with any other cable - have they changed their formula for the plastic? - reduced the tolerances? - really poor usability.

  • How to remove the usb cable

I just bought an ipad but I have to use real force to remove the usb cable.
I find nothing in de user guide about this.
    Is this normal?

Yes. It will loosen with time.
A very slight left/right wiggle (not up/down) whilst pulling may help.

    Hello Lazyboy7,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you are getting an error message from iTunes when trying to manually backup with your USB cord.
I found this article to help troubleshoot what might be going on here:

  • USB cable difficult to remove from Palm TX

The USB cable for the Z22 was easy to remove but I am having a problem removing the cable from the TX. Because of the metal contact thingies on the side of the teeth, the cable cannot be pulled straight out. I have to rock the cable to pull out one side and then the other. I am afraid that by doing this, I will end up breaking off one or both of the teeth or damaging the contacts. Am I doing something wrong or is it a stupid design flaw? Will I damage the connection by trying to forcibly pull the connection out straight from the TX? I love my new TX but seriously hate the USB cable because I know I am going to have to buy a replacement after I damage this one. Since I could find no reference to this problem in the form database, I figure the problem is with me.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

I recieved my Palm TX today. I had the same problem trying to remove the sync cable from my device. That's why I'm here. I was afraid to tug, pull or twist on the cable in fear that I would break something. I had to see if anyone else was having the same trouble and had a solution to this problem. I did find a solution and did get it removed, but I don't feel that the problem is solved. I still fear that if I have to continue to remove this cable in the same manner, something is going to break.
I really like your idea of filing a pre-complaint about this problem. What number did you call to do that? I bought the new Palm because it was cheaper to buy the new one than to fix the old one. Not to mention, the old one was black and white, the new one is in color and I was having Palm withdrawls. heh...heh...heh
Now that the cable is removed, I'm going to check out my new Palm TX.

During setup HP PSC 2175v all-in-one printer locks up XP computer when usb cable is connected. Only hard shutdown and restart to get computer working again works. How do you fix this issue?

The USB port on the PSC2175V may be defective or the XP USB port is defective.
Can you try the PSC2175V on another computer?
Check the XP device manager for any problems, do other USB devices work ok?

  • When I was updating my iphone 4s, during the update, the USB plug came out, now all my phone show is the a picture of the USB cable and itunes icon

When my  iphone was updating it operating software, the USB cable came out of the port.  Now the screen will only show the USB cable and the itunes icon. It is not recognized by the itunes store.  I unintalled the USB driver for the iphone, but it still does not work.  I have turned off the phone and performed a reset.

Try another Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone restarts. This usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons. If still problem you should Restore your iPhone with iTunes on computer. Here are simple steps. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click Restore Button of iTunes.

  • I have an iPhone which froze during software update to a picture of iTunes and USB cable.  I have never loaded this device on my computer.  How do I unlock the phone?

My iPhone froze while downloading a new update.  The screen now shows a picture of iTunes icon and USB cable.  How do I unlock the phone if I never registered the device on a computer?

Have you tried to restore the iPad back to factory settings from within the Setting App?  You might also try and hard "reset" by holding the power button and the home button at the same time until the iPad 2 restarts.
Besides that, find a friend with a computer and try to update it from their comptuer, or if it is close and convenient go to the Apple Store and they will be able to help you.
