I have lost my USB cable and was wondering if all creative products deal with the same typ e of USB connection because I have looked for a replacement and only found ones that were compatible with such creative players as zen xtra or zen nx

Any USB A to mini B cable should work. IF you have a digital camera, you may already have one.

USB 2.0 driver needed for Zen Touch 20

Iam a Linux user and seem to have read that special drivers are necessary for the Zen to be recognized (on Windows, obviously). That is not how USB is supposed to work. Can anyone confirm that special software must be used for any USB aware computer to recognize the Zen?

I didn't really understand your question but I hope this clears out any doubt you have. I use both OS's Linux and Windows. Under linux I managed to use my zen touch by installing the gnomad application. I didn't had to install anything else to use it, I was using suse and before installing gnomad all the hardware drivers were already installed by suse. In windows the only thing I had to install were the drivers that came with the zen touch's cd or the one available at the download section. to be able to transfer data to it you will need to install the nomad explorer, for music you can either use window media player 0 or nomad explorer. Besides that nothing else is needed to be installed. There has been some post complaining about some usb adapters not being able to detect the zen touch, what SSR recommends (and me too) is that you install the latest drivers for your motherboard and if it still doesn't work buy a PCI usb 2.0 adapter. Ipod cable/accessories for Zen sleek

I don't know why Creative decide to use a new connection for Zen Sleek instead of the standard mini 5 pin USB2 connection.
While looking for a new cable (and a compact car charger) for my new Zen Sleek, I noticed that the new Philips HD MP3 player and all Ipod seem to have the same kind connection.
Have anyone attempted to use Ipod cable on Zen Sleek? It seems that most after market accessories are made for Ipod so it would be very very nice if Zen Sleek uses the same connection. Perhaps I am day dreaming.

OK, don't get caught by this - there's a company that specializes in travel & replacement cables for cell phones, PDAs and MP3 players. Their name is Gomadic, and they have a very slick system - there's a standard USB male on one end and a receptacle like a mini-headphone receptacle on the other. You can get a very wide variety of end-connectors that plug into that receptacle and mate with just about anything you can think of. They claimed to have the connector for the Sleek, and I ordered it. However, when I got it, the end connector was a standard mini-USB male. I called them and they said "oops!" They just found out that Creative put this oddball connector on the Sleek while all the rest of Creative's players use the mini-USB. I can still use the thing for my camera and some other stuff though. They told me to keep it and gave me full credit on my credit card because of the error. So, I guess if you want a free travel connector for any of your kit that uses a mini-USB, order the cable for the Sleek from them before they correct their website!

I have the original 8G iphone and the wall charger and USB charger that came with it is not working anymore. It won't charge my phone and my computer doesn't reconize the USB cable. Does the warranty cover charger replacements or what can i do?

Max USB cable length for LT1421

Does anyone know how long the USB cable can be for connecting the LT1421 flat panel to the computer?
The screen is delivered with 1,8m but I must place the panel in a least 6 meter distance from the computer, is that possible?
I know that the max length for USB 2 is about 5 meters, but it varies between products how sensitive they are to cable length.

3 meters for USB1 and 5 meters for USB 2. You can find lots of information on the subject with a quick search. Try http://www.usb.org/about/faq/ans5 for starters. It explains how to get up to 25 meters of USB cable when you use several USB hubs.

I have looked pretty much everywhere to get some idea. I have seen it discussed, but with no real answer. It would be really nice ( respectfully) to know just ... IF... it was coming. Either way. And then a ball park.
This is a really nice unit , but I want one Audible ready that is EXACTLY like the Touch. If I just knew if it was coming, I would be free to buy another elsewhere. I totally love the Zen Nano Plus line and will just have to settle with those. I mainly use Audible, and Old Time Radio etc, Art Bell streams etc.

USB cable required for Canon IP4200??

I may be having a bad day or maybe I'm just dumb but anyway.... I just bought a Canon IP4200 printer and installed teh driver. Now it doesn't come with a USB cable so looking at the USB port on the printer it looked like the ones on my iBook, so I bought a A male to A male cable. Then I plugged both ends in to connect the 2, however as you've probably guessed it doesn't recognise the printer.
A quick online check reveals that I seem to need an A male to B male cable. However when I see the picture of this, the B male connector is a different, smaller shape and I cannot figure out where that would fit into if I bought it. The A male connector I am fine with as that looks like it can go into either the iBook or the printer but the B male I have no idea! Can anyone advise on what I am doing wrong or am I just mad???

Can I detect USB cable unplugged for USB 6229

I am using a USB 6229 to control a moving machine. As a safety mechanism, I would like to be able to detect if the USB cable becomes unplugged and stop the machine.
I thought maybe I could use the Watchdog functions in DAQmx to achieve this, but I get an error which says that watchdogs are not supported on the 6229. Does anyone know if there is a way to detect the USB cable is unplugged on the 'machine' side of the 6229, please? I could build my own watchdog timer and control it using digital I/O lines, but I wondered if I was missing something obvious?

Hi Paul,
I don't believe you'll be able to do set this up with your USB 6229. There aren't any safety features like watchdog timers on that device and I don't believe there's a signal or anything generated when the USB cable is unplugged. Your best bet would be to build your own watch dog timer or perhaps look at a DIO device with this functionality built in.

I just got a warranty replacement for my touch gen4.I didn't do anykind of backup other than my usal sync with itunes. WHat do I have to do to get itunes to sync everything back like the old one? I was planning for a repair not a replacement.
