Usb charging by laptop

iPad mini with retina display doesn't charge using USB lightning on a laptop

Correct, as the computer USB ports do not provide sufficient current to charge the iPad properly. It may charge, but it will be very, very slow. The included charger is the preferred method.

I got a usb charger for my 4th gen Ipod touch that at first allowed my to charge and transfer music from my laptop to the Ipod now nothing happens when I plug the usb cord and Ipod into my laptop. Its mac so it is an apple system. I am wondering how I can fix this problem I am not very good with techy stuff so this is very confusing how it was working and it just stopped.

    Hi johnsmiff99,
That is never fun when your iPod touch does not show up on your Mac. Take a look at the article below to walk you through on getting it to show back up on your iTunes. It is very easy to read so you wont feel overwhelmed with to much techy jargon. Let me know if you get this worked out.

  • CA-100 USB CHARGER

Nokia CA-100 usb charger will not work on my laptop (charges for a few second but then stops) but works fine on my desktop.
Any of you guys got any ideas?

I am using CA-100 with my 3270 Classic. When the phone has a high charge, the cable works fine. But when the charge is lower, it starts getting intermittent problems charging.
I have found that if I connect a USB hub first to the computer/laptop/portable battery, and then connect the phone to the hub, it charges perfectly every time.
I can only vouch for the hub I use, which is the Logitech Premium 4-Port USB Hub for Notebook (this is a powered hub, but can be used un-powered). I use it without external power.
I am guessing that the CA-100 cable doesn't properly alert the port that a device has been connected, so it won't pump more juice through, however the hub alerts the port that it requires all the juice it can throw at it, which is then distributed to any hub-connected devices.
If I am correct it will actually charge faster than without the hub, especially if there are no other devices. If I am wrong, well, it works for me.
Anyways, it works great for me. Let me know how you people go.

  • My Iphone does not want to charge with laptop. What can I do?

    Hello,
Last August I bought Iphone 4S and i am currently in another country for the summer and I wont be back until september which meqns my 1 year waranty is over and my Iphone is expreincing problems with speker sound and it wont charge with laptop. I am afraid that if I go to a local apple store they wont accept the Iphone due to the waranty. So what can I do? please help and thank you.

Does the iPhone charge when connected to the power adaptor?
Are you connecting the iPhone direct to a USB port on the computer - not being connected to a USB hub of any kind?
The local Apple Store can and will run a hardware diagnostic on the iPhone to determine if this is caused by a hardware problem at no charge regardless if the iPhone is no longer under warranty and purchased in another country.

  • W530: weak USB charging

I've been plugging in my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone into my thinkpad to charge however the USB charging on the laptop itself is incredibly weak. I left the phone off after being drained and plugged it into my Think pad overnight. When I woke up, the battery only had a 40% charge.
If I use the phone while its being plugged in, I can actually drain the phone battery faster than the laptop charges it.
I've tested it on the "power source optimized" energy plan and ensured that the thinkpad was plugged into the wall socket to avoid throttling.
Any suggestions why the Thinkpad USB ports can't power common denominator devices? (I've used all the USB ports on the laptop to test)
    Thinkpad W530: i7-3720QM, K1000M, FHD Screen, 16 GB PC12800, 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD

I've been on the road for the last week and outlets are hard to come by (which is why I'm keen on using my laptop to charge my phone at the same time)
I had 3G for literally a couple minutes which I spent responding to this thread so researching the intricacies of the USB spec via Google wasn't the best option for me at the time.
    Thanks for the answer though.

  • Is there any way to disable USB charging on N8?

It might be a strange question. But many time, my battery still nearly full and I just want to transfer a couple of files. When I plug the cable in, it start charging right away. This may makes battery deteriorate faster. Therefore, is there any way to disable USB charging? Thanks!

charging by usb isn't a problem , modern batteries do not suffer 'memory effect' just do what you want to do and don't worry about it . My N97 is connected to laptop most nights for anything from 10 minutes to an hour , no battery problem in 18 months and left on charge overnight every night . Enjoy your new phone and don't worry about a problem that doesn't exist

  • Ipad doesnt charge through laptop

i bought an ipad mini just thi s week and it when i plugged the usb to the laptop it started charging but then since yesterday it's not charging. when i plug it tothe laptop it displays 'not charging'. What can be the matter?

First, saying 'not charging' when plugged into a computer is normal. Most computers out there have USB ports that do not put out enough poser to keep the iPad happy. So it says 'not charging' although there is a trickle charge from the USB. Unless your computer is a mac (Last I knew some macs were the only computers that have powerful enough ports, but there may be some pc's out there that do) the best way to charge the iPad is with the supplied power brick plugged into the wall.
When a device acts like yours does it's one of four things:
    Bad outlet
    Bad cord
    Bad power brick
If you've swapped out those and the problem persists, then the issue could be the 30 pin port on your ipad. They can and do go bad (mine did, although my ipad is an iPad 2)
Since you've already been to hte apple store, try a different cord and brick and see if you can replicate it. If you can then the firmware update may not have helped and it's time to go back and talk to them again. Barring any signs of 'abuse or neglect' port failure should be covered by the warranty since it'll be seen as a manufacturer's defect. But you do need to have this taken care of within the warranty period.

  • Is there a USB charger for N95?

do we have a usb charger for n95?
    how much?

Be aware though it's not 100% guaranteed to charge your phone and I found it to be firmware dependant oddly enough.
I had an N95 on V30 and I bought one of the CA 100 chargers only to find it did not charge my phone.
Chap I sit opposite at work also still has his N95 on V28 and I let him try it and it worked absolutely fine using the same USB port.
I then found that it could only trickle charge my phone if it was almost full.  Let it get too low and it just popped up saying 'not charging'.  Shame, and the main reason I got my N85 as that could do USB charge from my work laptop.
Nokia N85 and Samsung i8910 HD
    Did have White N97and N95-1

My USB charger is not supporting while i am connecting from PC to iPad for charging (showing as " Not Charging"), Kindly advice me

    Hi Folks,
I have tried most of what have been said here ( thank you for the great Job) but unforunatally it didn't solve the issue.
However, now the "Not Charging" message in the right corner disappeared and my iPad is charging normally from my laptop.
The reason behind that is using the USB3.0 port in my Dell inspiron N5110. Earlier, I was using the USB 2.0  ports and that is why it was showing that message but as sooon as I pluged it in the eSATA USB 3.0 port , the message disapeared and the iPad started charging normally.
So don't waste ur time here and there try to plug it to USB 3.0 port and it will works, Insha ALLAH.
    Cheers

  • Micro USB charging current

Hi I have a Nokia E52, which has micro USB charger, I just got an HP TouchPad which also has micro USB charger, but TouchPad charger is rated at 2A output, my Nokia AC-10X is rated at 1200mA output.
Is it safe to plug my E52 into the TouchPad charger?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If I understand correctly, you're looking to carry just one AC charger instead of two?  The amperage (current) isn't what's important, but the voltage.  My E73 charger is rated at 5V and 1200 mA, and may be the same as yours.  If your HP charger also puts out 5V, then it can't do any harm.  Your E52 will draw just the 1200 mA it needs and no more.  (You can confirm this if you've ever seen a universal charger.  These offer a switchable voltage setting, but never a switchable amperage.  They would have sufficient amperage output for most small electronics, and again, the device draws only what it needs.)
But the above doesn't mean it will work with your E52.  Dell laptop chargers, for example, include a custom chip that has yet to be duplicated by makers of universal laptop chargers.  This prevents third party chargers from charging Dell laptop batteries...and is one of the reasons I recommend that people don't buy from Dell.   So screwy things can still happen.
But I see no harm in trying.  Good luck!

  • E7 USB Charging does not work when keyboard is loc...

I have noticed that if the usb cable is connected when the E7 keyboard is locked, the phone does not charge.
Is this a bug or an "undocumented feature"?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just tested it on mine it charges without problems, btw I checked it by connecting to a PC in Ovi suite mode. I presume you face same problem using wall charger and PC USB charging. Restore it to factory settings and check(*#7780#), worth giving a shot. If it doesn't help take it to a Nokia care center.

  • My ipod touch 3rd gen doesnt work on usb charger but on dock it says "Charging is not supported with this device" How do I fix it?

I'm taking it in to get it looked at but will they cover this? And is there a way to fix it before I take it in. I'm still under the 1 year warranty plan. My friend said that they might exchange it. It's a 64GB and I use it for a lot of things like my picture, music, contacts, and email. It's got scratches on the back but other wise its ok the screen isn't cracked or scratched.
I have a usb charger for it but when I plug it into the PC or my wall charger it won't charge. It just says  "Charging is not supported with this device". It even says that sometimes when it's not charging. But it works on a dock station like my clock or radio.
Also my home buttom won't work unless I press down real hard. This scares me because I'm afraid I wil persss it too hard and break it even more.
    Please help.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
