USB connections on 6330 motherboard

My MS6330 (version 3) motherboard has 2 connectors for hooking up USB for the front connections on my case. One of them is for regular USB and I think the other one is used for transferring data from computer to computer. I am currently using the USB1 connector. I'd like to use them both as regular USB connectors, since I have 2 on the front of my case. Is it possible? USB2 is missing #1 pin (gnd) and #9 pin (VCC). I was thinking about using the VCC pin on USB1 for USB2 also but decided against it at this time. Feedback please.

The following is all that my manual shows:
USB PC TO PC CONNECTOR: USB2 (optional)
The mainboard provides a Universal Serial Bus connector for you to connect optional USB ports. One of the ports is implemented with USB PC to PC Networking function.
USB 1.1: pin 2 = GND
              pin 4 = GND
              pin 6 = USBD2+
              pin 8 = USBD2-
              pin 10 = VCC
USB PC to PC Networking: pin 1 = NC
                                       pin 3 = USB3D-
                                       pin 5 = USBD3+
                                       pin 7 = GND
                                       pin 9 = NC
Where "NC" is shown, there is no pin available.
I currently have one (of two) of my front connectors hooked up to the USB1.1 header.

  • IPOD  Not Recognized USB Connection

How do i get my 40Gb IPOD to work with a USB Connection, I can only use my IPOD with the Firewire connection. Is it possible to use both the Firewire and USB connections without totally restoring my IPOD

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.

  • USB connect

I have the DSP 500 headset and it has a USB connecction. I am wondering if it would sound better if I get a connection (those things that you insert the USB and the other end is a diffrent plug) so it goes dirrectly to the sound card?
Or having a USB connection still 00% of the experience with the sound card?
    thanks

A USB headset works seperately from the soundcard, so you are not using the features of the soundcard when your have a USB headset. If you connect directly to the card, then you would however, so you can use for instance the CMSS3D-Headphone feature on X-Fi cards.

How strange. Creative should really state this somewhere in their marketing info, as to most people, a headset is a headset. Here's what the Creative's X-Fi product website says:
X-Fi CMSS-3D deli'vers an amazingly realistic surround sound experience with headphones
Know exactly where your enemies are whether you're using headphones or speakers. You won't believe how good X-Fi CMSS-3D positional gaming audio is; in fact, it's so good you'll forget you're wearing headphones!
So, here's me thinking my nice $50 Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 is going to work well with this card...
So, will the CMSS-3D function work if I plug analog headphones into the headset jack on the front of my case, or does the headset need to be jacked directly into the card? (i.e. do I need to crawl under my desk every time I want to plug my headset in?) The headset jack on the front of my case connects to a jack on my motherboard.

  • IPhone USB connection error

For the past two months, I have been experiencing an error with my iPhone which started out as a nuisance, but is now downright annoying.
I typically leave my iPhone (first generation) in its cradle, connected to the USB port on my computer whenever I am at hope. Around 6-8 weeks ago, I noticed an annoying occurrence: at seemingly random intervals the phone's connection with the computer would seem to be interrupted by something. The phone's chime which rings when it is connected and disconnected from a USB device would ring and so would the complimentary chime on my computer. If I had iTunes open at the time, iTunes would pop-up displaying a garbled version of the iPhone device summary, and I would receive between 4 and 6 pop-up messages alerting me that:
"iTunes could not connect to the iPhone '' because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000035)"
After changing the USB port I connected the phone to and trying to leave the phone connected directly to the USB cable (bypassing the cradle in case there was some wiring problem there), I decided to just ignore the problem. I figured that due to frequent use, the pins in the dock-connector terminal on the device had worn away.
However, after downloading the iPhone 2.2 firmware, this problem has taken on a quite annoying angle. Now, in addition to the cycle of 6 disconnections and subsequent reconnections (which happens more frequently), the phone will spontaneously display a "Sync in Progress" message on its screen or enter some sort of reboot cycle. As best I can figure, this sync message is some sort of error on the part of the phone because iTunes does not seem to acknowledge the fact that a sync is in progress. The second new error - the spontaneous reboot cycle occurs at infrequent intervals (maybe once a day): the phone's screen will turn black with the animated "loading" circle spiraling to indicate the device is powering down. The device will then reboot, displaying the apple logo as-per normal. The second the normal iPhone screen appears, the USB connection quickly connects and disconnects, and the phone shuts down and restarts again. I have seen it continue this cycle 4 times before I halted the process by disconnecting the phone from the USB cable. After being disconnected from the USB cable, the phone continues its normal power-on procedure, except now that it is disconnected, it remains on and functions properly.
I would appreciate any advice that might be offered on this matter. I initially thought this was a hardware problem, and while I still think it may be one, the fact that the frequency of the problem and its nature have changed with the new software and the fact that the disconnect/reconnect cycles do not seem to be triggered by any physical movement, I would suspect something software-related.
I have iTunes 8.2.0.20 and iPhone firmware 2.2, although this problem did occur with at least iTunes 8.1 and iPhone 2.1.
Thank you very much for any and all help!
    --Will

From what I know about 0xE error codes, is that they can be related to memory among all things, and this usually happens when the computer cannot send data to the iPhone as fast as the iPhone needs it to. The iPhone will ask for something that hasn't been sent yet and because the receive is faster than the send it results in an 0xE error. (example : a bowl of apples - every time the computer puts out 1 apple the iPhone takes 2, because there are not 2 apples to take you get this error message.)
I would say this is your issue, but your computer seems pretty decked out, 4GB RAM, quad-core intel core 2 extreme, Nvidia GForce 8800 (woot!) have you checked to see if there are update available for you motherboard?
Might be space related, are you able to sync any data over? I would suggest just syncing 1 small playlist, or a few photos, or maybe just trying a different cable. I really wish I could help you on this one.
Clearly testing on another computer isn't an option.
As far as the iPhone power cycling the way it does, and the 'Sync In Progress' appearing on the iPhone but not the computer, there is clearly an inconsistency. I would suggest uninstall and reinstall iTunes, and the iPhone driver. I would also suggest restoring the iPhone as new, but if you are getting the error when syncing chances are your iPhone will get stuck in recovery mode.
Do you have any friends with a Windows or Mac computer?
    Best of luck ✰

  • Retreving music from USB connected Windows XP drive to MacBook

    Greetings,
I have a deceased motherboard Windows XP notebook. The drive that held my 20 gig iPod classic music base has been salvaged into a USB connectable external drive (It is Windows XP though). I want to retrieve selected songs from that drive into my MacBook.
I cannot run the iTunes from the Windows environment.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian.

Mount the drive and navigate to /Documents and Settings/yourusername/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music.
Launch iTunes on your Mac and make sure that the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is set in the iTunes -> Advanced preferences. Then locate the tracks you want in the appropriate folder(s) on the PC's drive, and drag the tracks into iTunes' window. iTunes will copy them to the appropriate folders on your Mac's hard drive and add the tracks to the library.
    Regards.

  • K8N Neo Platinum problems (Front USB connection)

They does not work in my Antec Lanboy case. Does anybody have a clue why?

Check to see if there is a wire running from your Front USB ports to the #10 slot of your USB block which connects to the motherboard header.
    USB connector block
    1 3 5 7 9(filled/key)
    2 4 6 8 10(this wire, #10, not needed)
If you find a wire leading to the #10 spot on the block, remove that wire. My block has tabs so that you can pull the wire out, or you could snip/cut the wire leading to that position--if you cut the wire, be careful to cut the correct one and cut it in such a way that it may be repaired if you make a mistake.  Make sure you wrap the wire, the exposed end/s, you remove/cut with electrical tape so as not to accidentally cause a short. I actually folded the wire back and wrapped it.

This seems to be a common issue involving many different case manufacturers. I don't know how it applies to other MOBO manufacturers, but in these forums it is not limited to a specific MSI model or supported chipset(Intel or AMD).

  • Software to change USB voltage on Gigabyte motherboard

    Hi, all!
I need a program/driver which could change USB voltage on the fly. I need that due to iPad 2 which says "Not charging" when I connect it to my PC. I googled and find out that iPad requires higher current in USB port than most motherboards provide.
In this thread a tool for ASUS motherboards was offered but it's for Windows only. The fact that such a tool exists makes me thinking that it could be implemented for Linux too.
    Thanks.

    Never mind, it's ok.
Actually, I accidentally told you wrong information. When I decided to find out exact motherboard model, I realized my motherboard is ASUS P5PL2. Sorry, I had to check that far before starting the thread.
However, I have kind of good news. Here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1504845) someone solved the problem on Ubuntu 10.10 x64 and offered a small program which enables iPad charging on PC. For those who might read this thread later I provide direct links to it:
    Page with the program
Direct link to zipped deb file
    Direct link to source code
Unfortunately, when I connect my iPad and start the program, it says:
    [bz@bolt ipad_charge]$ sudo ./ipad_charge
ipad_charge: no such device or an error occured
I'm not sure, but I guess this might be related to the problem I mentioned two days ago.

  • AiO Remote Ink Levels etc not accessible with USB connection

My printer prints and scans just fine...except that it ran out of ink after about 15 pages. I'm trying to view the ink levels, but everything in the HP AiO Remote says it's not supported with the USB connection. There's no other way to connect my printer. I need to view the ink levels and be able to put in new ink, but I can't because the software isn't working right. Help?

    Hi @HnnhSmth95,
I see by your post that you are unable to view the ink levels by a USB connection. I can help you with this, but I will need some more information.
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
    Have a nice day!

  • How can I use Active Print on my Ipad and print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one

I was previously able to use Active Print on my Ipod to print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one.  Now, however, with my Ipad version 2 I can no longer get this to work.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Hi,
HP do not provide any USB connection solution for iOS.
As Active Print is a 3rd party application which provide this functionality, i believe you may find a better help within Active Print support as they more familier with their application requirement and functionality:

the problem is that trying to make it work i deleted the "profile" usb iphone on the network prefereces panel. Now i only have 3 options: ethernet / wifi / bluetooth
but not the usb iPhone i used to have.
And when i try to add a new one i dont get a USB option.

The question would be more appropriate in the Mac forums as it is not really related to the iPhone.

  • Cannot delete photos from camera folder in PC by USB connection

After few times update of iOS, I cannot delete the photos in iPhone 5 from my laptop. I can do it before but not now.
I usually connection my iPhone 5 through USB cable to my laptop.
Just go to My Computer and open iPhone photo album, then select, copy, cut or delete. This is my way to manage my photos.
I have not using iTunes for long time since the iCloud launch.
Please help me on this issue.
    Many thanks.

Not only was this design change an extremely bad idea, after updating my phone, it moved all the pics from my camera roll into a photos album that cannot be edited.  I can no longer delete any of these pics from my phone or from the USB connection, except from the camera roll which was added back. Now what??
How am I supposed to get rid of all the pics I don't want? This idiotic change created a big mess for me that there appears to be no way out of...

  • IPhone Issues with USB Connection and Bluetooth in GM cars

I recently purchased a 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC and it has a USB connection for an iPod. Prior to the 2.1 updated the USB connection worked flawless as well did my handsfree/bluetooth. I had the Apple Genius Bar check my iPhone for any issues due to a corrupt update but everything turned up fine. When i connect to my car I receive an error message (iPod Did Not Authenticate. Check iPod Version). Also my bluetooth will sync but when you answer the phone using hands free you get no audio from the iPhone or speakers in the car. I used a friends iPod and everything worked fine but when I connect with a new iPod it displays the same error. I have contacted GM but they said talk to Apple.
If anyone can help please let me know.
    Thanks

    Hey J,
Well you got me thinking about your question, and I guess I didn't get it the first time. Again, I own the same car - 09 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC, Black. A lot of fun! I plugged my iPhone into the radio USB connection and get the same error. The GM radio does not support the iPhone. It will not authenticate. The GM radios' firmware is looking for an iPod, not an iPhone. That is expected. As far as the iPhone and it's Bluetooth, again the iPhone's Bluetooth hands free works fine, except I cannot answer the iPhone during an incoming call without first unlocking the iPhone then pressing the mute button on the steering wheel. For what it's worth the iPhone will charge through the USB connection. I'm a little confused on what you are trying to connect. Bottom line, an iPod should always work, an iPhone, not at all. Lastly, I have purchased the GM Personal Audio Link (PAL) and hope to use it with my iPod so I can put the iPod in the glove compartment. Although I have heard a lot of negative comments and issues with it for being slow and sluggish. If so, I'll be sending it back and I'll stay with the USB connection. I'll let you know how that works.
