USB connector problem

Hi, I just bought a 4GB refurb nano to upgrade the 2GB one I bought a few weeks ago. My "old" nano works fine. But the new one came with a connector that does NOT fit into my USB port.
The connector part is narrower, has a different graphic on it (on the opposite side of the apple graphic), and has a white plastic tip where the other one doesn't. I can't figure out what this is, but it's clearly not a USB connector, and the tech support people didn't know either.
So I tried taking my old USB connector and using that on the new nano. The nano screen is blank, and it's not being recognized in Windows. I was told that the USB connector should be interchangeable. So now I'm not sure what's going on here.
Oh, and if I return the new one, by the time it's replaced, the return policy on the old one will have expired, so I won't be able to get my money back on the old one. If I send the old one back now, I'll be without an iPod until I get this settled. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Karen

It sounds like you've been incorrectly supplied with a Firewire cable instead of USB. Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting document? It may be of some help: iPod missing in My Computer and in iTunes

  • Arena Surround Headset - Broken USB Connector (Second Pair same problem)

I have a replacement pair of the Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset that you sent me to replace my first pair that had the exact same problem. The USB connector as come apart from the housing and the headset will no longer function. I already had to pay return shipping once for this same problem and do not want to have to pay to ship this item back again. This is obviously a defect in the production/design. Has anyone else encountered this problem? IT dosnt even look damaged in anyway, it just appears that whatever was used to hold it to the board just stop holding. Nothing is bent in anyway.
These were originally purchased from newegg in Februray 2010. You replaced them about a month ago.
I have been trying to create another RMA, but I keep getting a connection timed out when i submit the form.

I have been trying to contact "Customer Support" but everytime i try to fill the form out and submit it, it says that the connection timed out!
Do you any other suggestions on how to create and RMA request yet again?
After reading quite a few reviews of this product, it seems that this USB problem is very common!

  • Problem with front panel USB connector

    Motherboard: MS-6750
I have a problem with my front panel USB connector JUSB2 not working.
I have checked the connection to be sure that it is oriented correctly.
I also made sure that it was enabled in the BIOS.
Still no luck.  There is not any voltage on this either.
I see a jumper or pin labeled JGS1 just below the JDLED1...do not know what this is and cannot find it in the manual.
Any ideas on what this is and how I might trouble shoot the USB connector?

Which 6570 MB do you have, if its the K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum and came with the Dled bracket try plugging that into that port on the mainboard  and see if those usb ports work as it could be the usb hub itself not working on the front. Hope this helps  Dok

  • Problems whith my USB connector

  • My iPhone 4S went into lock-up with a screen display image of USB connector pointing to iTunes logo. I took it to a Verizon store and they said I have a brick lock and that only an Apple retail store 50 miles away could clear it

My iPhone 4S went into lockup with a screen displaying an image of the USB connector pointing to the iTunes logo. I was traveling and took the phone to the closest Verizon store. The store informed me that I had a brick lock and that only an Apple retail store could unlock the phone. The Verizon store explained that they have seen this problem with SEVERAL other 4S users who had upgraded to the new iOS7 operating system and that to their knowledge it is too demanding to work on pre-iPhone 5S phones having a far less capable processor. The closest Apple store was 50 miles away in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I went to that store three days later (today) to reset the phone before flying out of Philadelphia Intl. Airport. The Apple store personnel were overloaded and not sensitive to my plight. They told me that I would have to make a reservation for a time 2 hours later for tech support. I couldn't do that without missing my flight - out of luck until I get back to Los Angeles. If the Verizon store explanation is true, Apple needs to accommodate 4S and earlier generation users and not force them to upgrade to a $459 iPhone 5S!

The salesperson at Verizon has no clue what their saying.
My 4S and many of my friends works perfectly fine on IOS 7.3, no issue as all.

  • HP Laserjet 4 Usb adapter problem

I recently switched my HP laserjet 4 from a parallel connection to a parallel to usb connector.
The drivers for both installed properly however the printer does not seem to print is there a specific port I need to use or is there another issue?
printer prints a test page fine as well.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Moorty
    Hi wm300
I have connected a HP LaserJet 4L to Mac OS X 10.3.9 using a Keyspan parallel to USB adaptor cable. You will require the same hardware setup. It is more than a connector, the cable it has a small converter card in it.
    Keyspan parallel USB printer adaptor
You already have such a similar cable.
Your problem seems to be the right driver.
remove the printer then Add it again and decide which driver you want to use.
Your model HP will work with the drivers available in OS X, HP LaserJet 4MP, or the old driver downloaded from the HP website for the LJ4/4M will also work.
A new driver for it will also work available here
    http://buymelunch.org/printing/usbtb/
So once connected to a USB port, your Mac will see it, load the right driver, and the printer should work.

  • Can I connect iPod (with dock connector) with just a USB connector?

My mother-in-law gave my daughter her old iPod (with dock connector). It was supposed to come with an adapter that converts the 6-pin firewire cable to a USB cable (you are supposed to plug the 6-pin into the dock connector to charge it, then use the adapter to connect to your computer). We never got The adapter, so I just used USB connector from my own iPod nano to connect the old iPod into the computer. All kinds of error messages. I've now restored the iPod and it seems to be working, but I'm afraid to plug it back in using just the USB cable. Is it possible to connect the USB cable directly from the iPod to the computer without the adapter? Or could the problem be that I have also use my iPod nano on this computer? Thanks for any help you can provide.

A 15GB iPod would have to be a 3rd gen iPod.  It has a touch (not click) wheel with four touch buttons in a row that glow orange during use, correct?  That model needs to be connected using FireWire, because it cannot charge over USB.
If your new Mac has a Thunderbolt port, you can get an adapter for FireWire
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapte r
plus an adapter for FireWire 800 to FireWire 400
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/FIR1369AD/
Another way, if you have the square white FireWire power adapter that came with your iPod, is to get a special docking cable that Apple used to sell a long time ago.  It has both USB and FireWire connectors.  Here's a listing for a third-party version on eBay
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Vanco-iPod-Dock-Connector-to-1-USB-1-FireWire-Cable-/2 71074766489?pt=US_MP3_Player_Chargers_Cradles&hash=item3f1d50ae99
(Search on "FireWire USB iPod docking cable" to see other listings.)
What you do with this thing is plug the USB connector to your Mac's USB port, the FireWire connector to the FireWire power adapter, and the dock connector to the iPod.  iPod can then sync over USB while getting power over FireWire.
I would go with that special cable, to avoid using a series of adapters (which adds complexity and unreliability) and tying up the valuable Thunderbolt port for just your iPod.

  • My iPod display shows an iTunes icon and a USB connector. I cannot get anything to start or charge. What next?

My son's iPod Touch is displaying the iTunes icon and a USB connector image. He cannot charge or connect. We have tried a different USB cord. We have tried  reset his iPod. No luck. Any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Getting Midi input using USB connector

I have a keyboard hooked up to my mac using a Midi-USB connector, and in Logic although I can set it up to output midi through the keyboard, I don't know how to get it to accept input from the keyboard, it constantly says "No In" even when playing notes.
Does anyone know what I need to do?
    Thanks

    Hi
Firstly, sorry for not being able to help as I share the same problem.
I've recently bought a novation nio 2/4 audio interface for logic pro 8.
I have the same problem with getting sound from it. What are you trying to record e.g. instrument?
I also have a usb midi keyboard that I plugged straight in and got sound through logic straight away so I don't know why the audio interface should be much different.
Please let me know if you happen to stumble across an answer as it is driving me crazy!

  • IPod Nano not recharging via USB connector.

I just got a 4 GB 2nd Gen Nano, and it's working like a charm thusfar, except for one problem.
When I plug it into its USB connector, it will sync with my music library just fine, but won't recharge. I have a seperate, 3rd party charger for my car which works just fine, but I'd rather not leave my iPod in my car just to charge it up.
I'm running Windows 2000 on an older model system.

I have the same problem, and followed the steps in"iPod: Proper charging procedures for Windows 2000", but my nano will still not charge.
I bought a nano a month ago and ran into this problem. It used to recharge just fine via PC and USB cable, or AC adapter. But for some reason, after a month, it just stopped. So, I excharned it today for a new one. Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem with the new one. It on'y charges when it is syncing with iTunes. As soon as it's done automatically syncing, it stops recharging.
    Any ideas?

  • Frozen IPOD Touch w/ USB connector symbol

IPOD touch is frozen with USB connector/ITUNES symbol on screen. I can only turn the IPOD on and off, and it always comes back to this screen. I've connected it to my MacBook, but ITUNES won't allow it to connect until I enter the passcode on the IPOD Touch....which obviously I cannot do. I cannot reset IPOD Touch. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so what do I do? Thanks in advance...

Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on.
    Restore your iPod.

  • Stuck at iTunes+USB Connector Screen on iTouch... Please help!!

Today, Jan. 30th, I tried to download the most recent update for my 1st gen iTouch (2.2.1) and disconnected my iTouch during the process because the update was apparently not working because the iTunes+USB Connector screen was showing, so I tried to reconnect it. The iTunes+USB Connector screen remains frozen on there and it will not go away. I try plugging the iTouch into my computer (Windows) and both my computer and iTunes do not recognize it, or even show that it is connected. I have tried the whole hold down the Sleep/Off Button and Home button method but that does not work. Holding down the Sleep Button does not prompt me to slide it off, it just turns off by itself. I have tried plugging it into my wall-charger, still no luck. And I cannot restore it because iTunes does not pick it up. There are many people, such as myself, who have this same problem and every single response I have seen has said to restart/restore the iPod, and every single time the poster replies that that method failed. Someone.. please help!!

I am having the same problem, and so far it is very frustrating because the only almost viable solution I've found, letting the battery run down and then restoring, doesn't work because the ipod turns itself off after a little while instead of going into sleep mode and using up the battery over a couple days. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. I really would rather not have to send it into apple, but I can't think of any other way.

  • Have to press down on USB connector

I have a strange problem with both of my USB ports. I have to press down on top of the USB connector for my Macbook to recognise it. As soon as I let go, it loses connection. I've tried multiple USB cables and the same thing is happening in Bootcamp, so I'm assuming it's a hardware problem?
When I connect my phone's USB cable, it charges fine without me pressing down on it, but if I want to see my device on the laptop I have to press down on the connector.

I'm guessing that either a trace is lifted off the board or maybe the connector isn't fully soldered, but I don't think Apple does board level repairs. I'm not sure though. A Genius Bar eval if free, so that would be a good place to start.
That kind of adapter could work if you can find one. Since you have a Thunderbolt you could use this:
